Have you released these as a podcast? Or would you consider it. I refuse to pay TH-cam money and would like to listen to them in the background 😅
Really relished the layered characterization of Villon. The way his inner conflicts and moral struggles are portrayed amid the stark realities of poverty and crime is truly compelling.
What a beautiful voice! Perfect for this kind of classic story.
It sounds a little sped up though, unfortunately.
I read this thirty five years ago and was deeply struck by the tale and the telling, but went on to forget its title and author and have been looking for it ever since. I am grateful.
Oh how wonderful you finally found it! I know what that's like, not only with books but music as well. Odd how wonderful things like that somehow get lost.. I'm very happy for you!
The writing in this is just beyond brilliant, I had forgotten how in-depth, descriptive and the excellent. Effortless flow and ease he has with the English language 👍🏻thanks, really enjoyed this story
Thanks for taking me away to that cold Parisian nightmare...
Impeccably voiced 👍
Thanks Arthur!
A truly great writer. Such a contrast to the usual trite that is dished up.
Books today are mostly garbage. Swamped with crime thrillers, all with similar covers, with contrived plots and boring writing, just to fulfill time-limited contracts. Actually this new millenuim is all shit. What a terribly era to be living in!!!!
And of course these days the mandatory gay
@@meredithisme3752the word you're looking for is obligatory; but what a despicable thing to say. I pity you your precious hatreds
Please find an older dictionary and look up the original meaning of the word gay. It does not mean homosexual.
@@adamhughes4442 Think of it this way; it's better to be born after all the great works have been completed, since we have access to all of it. All royalty free and instantly available.
Don't look forwards too much to the great works of the future, since we will probably need another world war to create the conditions for them to exist again.
I really enjoyed this. I've met so many poets and vagabonds and this was their true same personality. Thank you so much.
Lovely...author and narrator alike!❤
I needed to hear twice. Such a lot going on in this short story. Cynicism seems to be the driver.
Beautifully narrated. 5:58
The storytellers voice sends me back in time...most exelent
I am in agreement with your comment.
I love RLS, great narration.
What a cracking good story and a terrific narrator!
Thank you. How terrific is his writing. Very good reading!
Wonderful story and reading!
Such an interesting story, beautifully told, very attractive voice. Thank you
In lesser hands, Victorian prose is overly florid and so cumbersome as to be almost impenetrable and frankly tiresome to listen to In the hands of a master storyteller like Stevenson however, it actually becomes literature. Well narrated. .
Villon played by Ronald Colman in If I Were King and subject of The Vagabond King. Great stuff. Never heard of this Stevenson story.
This was a real treat. Excellent
Great story beautifully presented
A masterpiece ✨️
So Beautiful. ❤️
This narrator is a modern day Alexzander Scorby
Very beautiful and mesmerizing voice
OMG the narrator is wonderful..
Fantastic!
Thanks.
Brilliant story telling about with a theme of man vs nature.
Perfect.
Mr Lawrence Fox sounds a bit like this voice. Thank you Mr Lane ❤
Nasty and bonkers then?…
❤thank you for the story ❤
Excellence 🌟 Thank you so much and a happy new year to you!🕊🤍🕊
Great narration
I did not know RLS, was such a prolific writer.
I did!
thank you🍃⚘🍃
A bit of EQUALITY found in the CLASS MORALITY. Then & now could still be said truth when survival is no longer just, free like when twined indigenously- land to hand. Oh, SOCIETY…great & lowly, rough & civil, luxuries & survival, what have we here & now, then & gone.
Lovely pieces of mirroring from high & mighty with low & manly. Verses of rue.
You are a very good reader/actor and so easy to listen to. i was surprised at the suddenness of the end* as well as the ending itself, but a story like this in the hands of a master craftsman is emotionally understood and gives thought to the circumstances.
so thanks much and i subscribed :) 🌷🌱

Just in time for bedtime, really appreciated thank you so much for your hard work helping people like myself to sleep better 🙏💛💚💙
The down side is it takes me about three nights to listen to them cos I fall asleep half way through and forgot where I got too 😅
The video description really reads like it was written by ChatGPT.
@nutwatch1854: Thank you - We're sorry you feel that way.
Why are so many readers in such a hurry?
If you steal from a rich man you are just a thief
If you steal from a poor man you are just a thief
If you steal from a thief you are just a thief
Tell your horror stories of being robbed
Theft is disabling
A Criminal Mind is a person always looking for a crime to commit even of loved ones, crime makes Criminals happy.
The commercials wake me up .
I’m learning…
The speed of reading it’s too fast.
Damm commercials
Sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch a most awesome orator 1😃😃
A good story about the futility of trying to help those intent on repeating the same mistakes.
Thanks for warning, I won't listen now 😢
Read far too fast ... so no feeling!!!
I prefer the fast read, it’s about how fast as people talk so it’s truly like listening to a story, the ones that draw everything out make me forget the beginning of sentences
I thought the narration was excellent. Conveyed the time very well. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Too many ads...I cant finish this story.
I have the skip icon on my phone to omit ads.
No
'Balard' ????? do you mean ballad ? ha ha
Way too many ads so I stopped.
Spoiled by commercials- pity 😮 Unsubscribed
Commercials...like ads? Like at beginning or throughout? Bummer. I don't get ads so wasn't sure.
I was looking for an audio book yo put me to sleep. This did that. I'm now hoping it will do it again.
Supposedly the ads are necessary to fund the channel. Unfortunately a sign of the times. Nevertheless worthy content.
