    Wow, I’m impressed that your able to touch on setting info that applies to all aspects of software in general.
    I’ve often wondered why the engineers who created these software have the actual player in mind when creating these things. Are they even players themselves? And if they are why arent they explaining how this shit works on the player level, the need to know stuff!
    You have done and are doing an excellent job at this , so thanks alot !

      Thanks a lot. 🙏 I guess this is one of those happy collabs where the developer (JamOrigin - not me) produced software that even I (as a player) can both use and perhaps even explain how to use. I have had the privilege to be able to also provide my point of view along the way, as this project has taken shape, and that might also be helpful of course. Either way, I am glad you find it informative, and I hope you find the software inspirational and exciting. 👍

    13:50 Watching you use a pointy guitar to MIDI-trigger a Tele sample library just added another dimension to how amazing MG3 is going to be. How does it feel?

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am playing that exact combo right now, and I can't say it feels especially weird. I just went from a Strat to a nylon to this. I am kind of used to my guitars, and I have never owned anything Fender, so I go with what I know. 😀 But sure, the whole experience is still amazing. Every day. 👍

    Thanks for the video! I have a question, I have been using MIDI Guitar 2 on my iPad for quite a few years. Yesterday, I decided to try the Desktop version thinking the performance was going to be the same as on my iPad. To my surprise, Windows version is waaay ahead of the iOS version (in terms of accuracy, speed, artifacts, etc). Is this because the iPad version has not been updated for like 6 years? or by default, I should not expect that version to be as good as Windows or Mac versions?

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I would probably expect the desktop versions to keep being superior to any iOS version. Mostly it is a CPU thing, but as both tablets and iPhones are getting more powerful, I can't say for sure. You'll have to wait and see, I guess. But yes, up until now the desktop versions absolutely have been on another level. But you know that you can try the next version too (for desktop computers) ? MIDI Guitar 3. just go to the beta page (Downloads section and pick the one for your platform)

    Thank YOU, Leif ! Fantastic information. I have only known about MIDI Guitar 2 & 3 for about a week now, and have struggled, but your videos are helping a lot!
    One little criticism: you voice narration is too low compared to your music clips - I have to turn my volume up and down. I have a few beginner questions:
    It seems I am limited to 3 chains? If I would like to layer several instruments and have an easy way to turn them on and off in different combinations, it is easy to put them in separate chains and use the big on/off button. But then I am limited to the 3 chains. Is there another way to do it?
    Best regards,
    Jan

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Jan! Yeah, I am aware of the volume differences. I noticed them when going through the timestamping. But hey, I’ve done way worse than this. I’ll try to do better going forward. If you need more than three chains, I suggest you use a DAW (MG3 is also a plugin), or a plugin host like Gigperformer. I do that for whenever I feel i must have a ton of synths or instruments at my fingertips. You can also use a pluginhost like Kushviews Element (free) on a chain, but it usually becomes a CPU issue eventually. Better to host stuff externally for now.

      @@lofileif Thanks for your answer! I have one more little question regarding latency:
      I have tried minimizing the buffer size even to 64, and I still feel the latency, if I try to play a fast rhythmical pattern (it doesn't bother me playing slow dreamy chords).
      Is there any wau to minimize this latency? I am using an oldish Mac Mini M1 - will a new, "stronger" M4 etc. improve this giving shorter latency ?

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @user-cc9gn5od5f No, an M1 is completely sufficient. Any tracking gains below 64 are infinitesimal. I use 128 and have no issues, but that is because I have played with this kind of latency for a couple of years. After a while you don’t think about it. It is there, but you just don’t think about it. Practice with your virtual instruments loaded. Play the output, never mind the input.

    midi out Can't connect to the virtual midi interface? For example loopBe30,
    LoopBe30 is an internal MIDI device for transferring MIDI data between computer programs.

    • @lofileif
      @lofileif  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't have a PC, and I don't use LoopBe30, so I can't say with any certainty what works and what doesn't, I am afraid. But you can post this as a question on the MIDI Guitar forum (where the developer also has a chance of weighing in). There are a lot of PC users there who will know more about this too. 👍

      2) Also I have an xtone pro connected to my iPad while I can select the input I wasn’t able to select the output as xtone it showed only speaker1/speaker 2

      About the next version of MG3 for iOS, I think it will be a new purchase and not an upgrade. The upgrade was just for the desktop version of MG2 to MG3.
