I never had Beachhead as a kid. I found mine a few years ago in a thrift shop with a broken O ring and crotch for $2. He now travels with me on vacations and hikes. I have a photo book of all his adventures.
for some reason..as a kid he was never one of my favs. now seeing it again....i can't believe how awesome he is. total badass. i may have to look into getting him again.
Great stuff was a very early buy from the iconic 1986 line for me as a kid. Was always the first guy on the ground and I loved the Cobra like look with the mask. I did suffer broken hands on mine due to the brittle plastic some were made with (Same problem was the strap breaking on the ammo pouch on mine!) but with the Internet got replacement arms and back he went into a state of readiness. It was also worth pointing out that he was very macho about the US Army and frequently got into scuffles with Gung Ho and Mainframe over his dislike for the Marines as I recall. And yes the modern reboot was a rare case they captured all the classic elements. I hold them both very dear. Thanks AGAIN for really capturing the passion and interest many of us have for these guys beyond a simple toy!
I loved this character when I first saw him ironically it was the G.I. Joe the Movie I first saw him in the Philippines we saw the movie first before they finally showed the second season which is odd. Still no matter what Beachhead was one of the good things of the movie.
Beach Head was the second G.I. Joe action figure I owned. Really enjoyed how he was one of the tough guys of the team being an Army Ranger. Loved his accessories, especially the details on his backpack* and his 9mm submachine gun. The details on the figure are included from his 75th ranger patch to the beret on his left shoulder. Very pleased that Hasbro continues to make action figures of him, I even like his version two action figure from 1993 despite the brighter colors. *most fellow collectors believe that the object on the right side of backpack is a grappling hook and rope line, which is what I have always believed it to be since my childhood.
Good review of a great character, cool action figure! Beach Head was as serious as a heart attack! I wonder if he'll be in the third live action movie.
Love the G.I. Joe ranking system of Hawk, Duke, Flint and Beach Head. Which works for the simplicity of the cartoon. But the file cards say it's Hawk, Doc(cpt), Ace (cpt), Lt. Falcon (1LT), Steeler (2LT), Wild Bill(CWO), Flint, Gung-Ho (E8), Duke (E7), and then Stalker, and Beach Head by tenure. I'm sure there's more in there, and I might of shuffled a couple, but that just off the top of my head.
You're right. The file cards had ranks that were't really reflected in how the characters were treated in the cartoon or the comic book. Stalker was in charge of a lot of missions, even with officers who outranked him. The cartoon, the file cards, and the comic book represented three distinct universes. There were some other oddities in the file cards that did not fit either the comics or the cartoon.
One of my all time favorite figures. Awesome detail. Really nostalgic for me. Thanks for sharing. Rewatched this review just cause I am getting a vintage one. It should be on its way to me right now. Can't wait
Great review! I like the Modern comparison to the Vintage figure! As I entered high school in '86, 1986 was a partial completist year for me. I had Beach Head, but I don't think i played with him a lot. Not really knowing a lot about the military, I thought Stalker was a cooler character. I watched all of the Sunbow cartoon, multiple times; yet, the comics were my reference on all things GI Joe. As a child, the Chain of Command never bothered me, but as an adult, I have trouble with the official Chain of Command for GI Joe. General Hawk, no problem. Hawk is the overarching commanding officer of GI Joe. But, just as General Austin was not a field commander, Hawk would delegate to his multiple branch liaisons. These would be his commissioned officer counterparts for each branch, as GI Joe became quite large. These officers would fill Hawk's old position. Then, the XO, unsure who would fill that roll; Duke, as the senior enlisted would be Top Kick. He works directly for the XO. It seems not a lot of thought was put into the Chain of Command overall. There should be multiple low to mid ranking officers. Warrant Officers, being prior enlisted, are usually not put in command as they are not officers of the line; helicopter pilots, ECM officers or ESM officers (both fall under EMO), etc. Even on subs, where rank is pretty much what you are paid and not your expected proficiency, there are solid command lines while embarked...on shore, all bets are off, except the CO. He is always...Captain!
He's also knows to be a VERY reasonable person dealing with some VERY unreasonable situations... Also, do NOT mess with his minivan or his wife's cat, or else you'll get to meet Stanley... his honey badger companion animal.
I think the weird thing on the backpack is a grappling hook that is folded up and the bottom part is the rope? Love that backpack! Beach Head is definitely a top tier for me!
It looks similar to the hooks used for scaling the cliffs at Pointe Du Hoc on D-Day. It's probably a homage to that even if it isn't a perfect replica of the hooks used that day.
when he came out i didnt like him too much, until i got another firefly. then i realized how similar they are and paired them. then shockwave came out and he has a similar appearance. yes, i broke cannon lore and teamed all three together as commandos/saboteurs. a kick ass team i thought.
+HoodedCobraCommander788 oh I commited many acts of blasphemy with my collection. I was costomizing before it was popular. I had a vivid imagination with the dreadnoks, tomax and xamot, the female figures and an adult establishment. I was robot chicken before robot chicken.
Beachhead was one of my all time.faves I was able to trade for one back in the day but it was I. Pour shap really beat up and my older brother just broke it to be a jerk lol that's my story of Beachhead now as an adult I have Beachhead in. Classified, I am thinking of pulling trigger on the O.G Beachhead 😎 just for old times sake
Beach Head was always my favorite Joe character and figure. I was going to state the reasons why, but you listed EVERY single reason in your vid already! (attention to detail, well armed, mask/balaclava, character, rank, etc). Awesome review.
Should be 75th Ranger Regiment. Ranger Qualified has a Ranger tab. 75th Rangers have a scroll. Ranger School is a combat leadership school. The Ranger Regiment is a Special Operations Top Tier Unit. Sounds minor but a big difference between them. Having a Ranger tab does make you a Ranger. Just means you graduated from the school.
The bottom of the ruck is a spool of rope line, so that must be grappling hook on the side of the ruck that it is connected to. The crossbow might be the intended as the launch device for that.
Beachhead is one of my top 5 favorites. I had him when I was a kid, but his crotch broke, I’ve got some pieces around, but I can’t find them. You know he has to be warm with that wool mask on, especially being in warm weather.
there was one time that i can remember i think in computer complacations he wore his mask up and we saw his face for a bit but not since or before do i think we saw him without
So, I was wondering why they made him a Ranger and not a Marine and here is a good point: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointe_du_Hoc The Rangers were at D-Day.
Beach head to me was the ass kicker of the Joes. Even dangerous to the rest of the Joes if they didn't keep up with him. Shoot away the weak links of the Joes. He did make me laugh in the cartoon a bit. Especially in the episode were Shipwreck and the weaker others were promoted over him.
Great review love this figure so much but my favorit version is the comic two pack 25th ann.have seen that one it was rare out of my favorite joes flint than beach head bad azz
Love the Casablanca poster in the start of the review. Hope its still prominent in your house, like mine. Love v1 Beach Head. I just realised I didnt have the pouch with him... i do have one with Action Force's Panther driver, v1 Snake Eyes commando, so might have to use that as trying to find one in Oz might be super tough now...
I remember liking most of this figure except the color green they used. Always thought the "beret" was rope or something. Really got into the figure thanks to the cartoon, but disliked the fact they made him the smelly kid! Damn that Mainframe! Also always wanted the crossbow removable to have him use, and had since lost Scarlett and her crossbow. Ah, the casualties of playtime! He totally has "Slaughter Envy". Also could have come with a knife. That would have made him a little better for me instead of the satchel. Hope they make a Lego knockoff figure of him for my own collection! PS, more Joe's should wear masks. All It would take is a random Cobra Trooper getting pictures of them, and Cobra could start demoralizing the Joe's by taking out their families, no?
Beach Head is a personal favorite, and even though this is an older review and I don't demand a new review with your busy schedule, is it ok to ask you to put ol' Wayne in the top tier in the comments if you see this?
It clearly isn't, but the thingy on the side of his backpack always looked like an umbrella to me. I also don't even mind his obscured face, something that always annoyed me about Lowlight, Barbecue etc. They really knocked this one out of the park.
I just got him complete with file card. I am not going to go crazy on GI joe It is a new venture for me.I just got the soundwave dreadnoks thunder machine.
The comic book 2 pack of Beach Head and Mainframe does have a removable mask. Also he has an un-masked head too. Never pictured Beach Head as having a mustache under his mask, but that is just me.
Beachhead was one of my favorites, along with Leatherneck, Dial tone, and Falcon, and Tunnel Rat.
I never had Beachhead as a kid. I found mine a few years ago in a thrift shop with a broken O ring and crotch for $2. He now travels with me on vacations and hikes. I have a photo book of all his adventures.
It's a cool nod in the clip Beach Head respects the MP the most.
for some reason..as a kid he was never one of my favs. now seeing it again....i can't believe how awesome he is. total badass. i may have to look into getting him again.
Did you ever get him?
I love this guy, one of the coolest action figures to own.
Beach Head is my all time favorite! I love YL the Classified line Beach Head too.
This was the first G.I.Joe figure I got! I remember that it was bought for me as a present one day after my sister was born!
Cool figure. I enjoy him.
My favourite Gi-joe figure. Me & my brother fought over this guy! Excellent vid.

Beach Head was one bad ass Joe.
Neal G I agree!
I made up my own GI Joe Unit. Beach Head and Sgt. Slaughter are the leaders. Its called The Badass Unit. Ha
One of my favourites when I was a kid, I always liked his look.
One of my favorite Joes!

Beach Head is just badass, I used his magazine pouch as a Sachual charge.
Beachhead was badass in comics and tv series 80... My favorite is the comic pack that comes with dataframe or mainframe
Good review of a great character, cool action figure! Beach Head was as serious as a heart attack! I wonder if he'll be in the third live action movie.

Interesting note that Beach-Head's son is Checkpoint from C.O.P.S

Derek Broestler I used to love Action Figure Therapy until I learned none of the people involved actually served in the military.
Very cool review as always

@@mattlerch531 you was Robot chicken when robot chicken wasn't cool!
I'm thinking the equipment on his back is a type of MICLIC for clearing beaches of mines and IED's.
Old video but you're right. It's a collapsible grapple that looks like it's fired from a crossbow.
Beachhead was one of my all time.faves I was able to trade for one back in the day but it was I. Beach Head vs Firefly when i was young and to me the coolest looking besides Recondo.
All about Beachhead, Firefly, Recondo and Tunnel Rat.
This was one of my favorites as a kid ..I wore this guy out ..
love his attitude in the move......tv show blooper had him without his mask for like 2 frames
He's a ginger that may add o my love for him as a fellow redhead.
Grear review Commander, awesome figure!!!! Love the modern but the ammo on his gun is painted black but on the figure it's grey.
People alway pick Snake Eyes or Duke but I always love Beachhead
I still have the figure and he's in perfect condition.

666th like on the review for my all-time favorite action figure! 🎉 Woohoo! I needed a win in my life right now!
Sometimes if you eat chips while sitting back in a recliner you can get some on your shoulder...👌🏼💯✔
The bottom of the ruck is a spool of rope line, so that must be grappling hook on the side of the ruck that it is connected to. The crossbow might be the intended as the launch device for that.
Vintage Joe's all the way.
Beachhead is one of my top 5 favorites. I had him when I was a kid, but his crotch broke, I’ve got some pieces around, but I can’t find them. You know he has to be warm with that wool mask on, especially being in warm weather.
Beach Head definitely has a grappling hook and cable on his backpack.
great review! I really like when you do side by side comparisons with the modern versions... :)
I noticed they swapped the pistol to his right leg on the anniversary edition
there was one time that i can remember i think in computer complacations he wore his mask up and we saw his face for a bit but not since or before do i think we saw him without
Just got a complete Beach Head recently day one the satchel broke, must have been the hard plastic.
+ipokluda Probably so.
So Beach Head is an Alabama Man. That explains a lot.
Another great review of a figure classic! Have you done a Doc review or Alpine yet, two of my other favorites...
I haven't. I don't have Alpine complete yet, but I have Doc. I could put that one on the list.
If he’s a Ranger I’m just assuming the arm patch is a mistake. It should be 75 Ranger Regiment patch instead of the 75th ID.
FYI: His mask is a nod to what delta force ranger candidates wore for training in the 80s
Beacheads awesome
Love the Casablanca poster in the start of the review. Hope its still prominent in your house, like mine. Love v1 Beach Head. I just realised I didnt have the pouch with him... i do have one with Action Force's Panther driver, v1 Snake Eyes commando, so might have to use that as trying to find one in Oz might be super tough now...
G.I.Joe 💪
I always changed my joe cannon when i played and changed beach head from a ranger to a marine
Or beachhead like the rangers who stormed the beaches at Normandy
I'm going to try in get one in real good shape somewhere online.
I remember liking most of this figure except the color green they used. Always thought the "beret" was rope or something. Love Beachhead but never had him.
What Rank was BH? And what were his Primary and Secondary Military specialties?
Sweet, I know you have a schedule hashed out already :)
R F I have the next couple videos planned, but I haven't planned farther than that. I like getting requests!
Awesome! Keep them coming... I'm always anxiously waiting the next review
I appreciate it!
His file card says anger is a waste of time, in the cartoon wasn't he pissed off all the time? Lol
All your figures seem so shiny. What do you use to clean them?
Pretty sure that thing on the side of his backpack's supposed to be a radio communications antenna.
Always watching your g.i.joe reviews if you visit the philippine i will give you a tattoo
wish they'd thought of this earlier / =
Sometimes ? Vintage figures could stand easily without their stands .
i always thought Beachhead was or should have been a Seal
Beachhead vs Firefly!
his eyes were a little weird but he was a very good figure. the perma-mask was kindof a bummer though.
I always thought beachhead was cool, I felt like he was the last of the realistic Joe’s
Beachhead is wearing a ski mask he looks like hes in a forking forking gang brah!
I forget Stalker is a ranger for some reason.
All ways gave him a shotgun or m16 hated his gun
None the less feckin rad
Beachhead was always a bit angry and jerky on the show compared to his filecard description.
Am I the only one who thinks the heads of the old and new versions are out of scale with their bodies, and it'd be better if you swapped them around?
The new version didn't have a removable mask!? Boo!
The comic book 2 pack of Beach Head and Mainframe does have a removable mask. Also he has an un-masked head too. Never pictured Beach Head as having a mustache under his mask, but that is just me.
If you're interested, Forgotten Weapons did an overview of Beach Head's gun: th-cam.com/video/R7pSobtlfKI/w-d-xo.html
for mission ucraine send snake eyes tunnel rat dial tone big ben duke dodger cloth bust
I never cared for his mask. I remember putting Flint's head on his body when Flint got too weak in the knees.
