Don't worry... give him time. Maybe keep him in just one room for a few days to start, otherwise everything in the larger space with all its strange noises and smells may be too overwhelming. Kittens need to feel safe... don't force him out, but entice him with a few treats -- once he figures out you're the food provider then it'll be a different story and he will learn to trust you :-)
Nicole G, they were 6 weeks old at that time... which is very young, it was a concern. Generally you should not adopt kittens until they are 8 - 10 weeks old. I was worried so I talked to the vet and was told that if they are weaned and on solid food then it's probably ok.

Hi, I'm not sure how old your cat is... but she did that because she's afraid. It's a difficult adjustment to move to a new place. Give her a bit of time, as soon as she realizes you're there to care for her (and are the food provider) she will calm down and return your affection.
They are domestic shorthair, which are really just mixed-breed housecats. Such cats can be almost any color or size. More specifically, these two are grey tabbies because they have stripes... they were from a litter of 6 and all the others were "tuxedo" cats (black with a white belly). Glad you like them :-)
The hardest thing to deal with when it comes to kittens for me is getting them used to the new environment, it's really difficult to so especially when another cat has just left home. Our current cat Felix is going to a new home tomorrow and we are getting a kitten in a few weeks. Any tips on helping the new kitten settle in? We also have a puppy as well.. 🐶😂

Kittens aren't meant to leave their mum until 8 weeks at least. If they have no mum, then they need to stay with the person who's looking after them until they are 8 weeks old.
I took an abandoned cat and the first view hours she come in to my house she had a baby premature kitten soo tiny, she lost it somewhere in the house so when I found her I gave to her since then she never lets me touch her baby 😢 how can I have little time with 3 weeks old kitten when mum is soo over protective any help please? Grey tabbies... they're sisters. They came from a litter born in Maple Ridge, BC and now live in Vancouver. They have an Instagram account at instagram.com/riptidethecats/ but there are mostly baby pictures on there!
Thanks! Yes they do all have their own personalities. My old cat wasn't as social, but these two like people and are happy to investigate and approve all guests that enter.

Patience is important. It takes time for helpless creatures to be comfortable and confident. But that was almost 5 years ago now so I think they're ok :-)
