1. Microwaveable snuggle pad- to act as a heating pad (cover it with a blanket)
2. Snuggle kitty- two AAA batteries and put heating pad in it
3. Baby blankets (human baby blankets)- change it out every now and then
4. Recycled fur scraps- works well for orphaned kittens as reminds them of their mother (long fur is preferred by the kitties)
5. Use a toothbrush to groom kitties to mimic a mother's tongue- allows them to groom themselves

I got a kitten 6 weeks ago and he is 8 weeks today. He’s so cute and he was abandoned by his mother my husband brought him home and my 4 year old girl cat is so jealous. They fight sometimes. Your videos has helped a lot in determining how old he is and biting. And flea comb. I’ll be watching more videos. I commented on this story cause my story was similar. I hope your kitten is doing okay.

I binge-studied Kitten Lady last year when I found myself with an orphan 2-day old. Not having real fur, I had scored a large remnant of white sherpa fabric, a cat specific heating pad, a soft baby toothbrush (and formula and bottles). And the recently turned 1 year old kitten from the previous year, who took over the grooming, teaching, playing - everything her mom would have done but produce milk (he was very interested in having some of her milk for himself).
Both Nyla and Moonlight are doing well. 😻

We took in a litter of kittens and one of them took to sucking on his tail. He still did it when he matured and it wasn't uncommon to find him under the bed asleep with his tail in his mouth.
i catsit for an adult cat who sucks on her tail. apparently they do this when they were separated too early from the mom!
+rivka yeah, that litter's mom died not long after they were born. There were only a few kittens in the litter and we kept the two kitten we were given to foster.
+rivka kinda ironic how humans do the same thing, my mom died when I was 7 after her passing I sucked my thumb till I was like 13. :P

I grew out a beard for the first time for a Halloween costume a couple of years ago and I ended up keeping it because my cat loved to rub up against my chin.

no you're not the only one. My heart broke when she said orphan kittens. My cat, is a female, was a surrogated mother once: I found 3 small kittens next to a trash can! took them home and I was about to call a Vet. friend, turned around and my cat was already purring and licking clean the kittens, she even produced milk! The miracle of life yo' I love cats so much.

Your tips have helped me a great deal. My husband found 2 kittens while hunting and brought them home. First time I ever cared for ones so tiny. I went and bought a bunch of supplies and ordered on line. I also had assistance from my 3 adult cats and my German Shepherd (surprised me) lol. Even as grown cats, if I’m holding them and overwhelmed with love for them (like you are sometimes) I lean down and rub my nose or chin on the back of their head or their ears or cheeks in little grooming motions. Pretty much always my roommates tell me they get the “aw, man, mom’s washin’ me!” face on. And sometimes they’ll either start grooming themselves or - like my oldest - trying to scent me back.
He’s well aware that we are tall cats and we do cat things.
I love it when they press their foreheads against me and just lean there. Not scenting. Just pressing. Cutest thing ever.

Its funny how most human-animal bonding mostly just revolves around convincing the animal we are one of them. Even cows just think the rancher is just some funny looking, take-charge cow.
