    Stick the pilot bearing in your freezer for a couple of hours, set on a nice cold can of beer, take it out to the garage, and quickly install it. Works great!

    I love all those new parts and that's a nice diaphragm the style pressure plate you have there I've rebuilt the old 3 finger pressure plates on the floor with a bottle jack underneath the truck because I didn't have a press

      i was tempted to use that free ten inch unit i had sitting there, decided against it when a whole entire new set up was so darned cheap !!! 80 bucks for everything, and i like the clutch finger style better for throwout bearing life

    When torquing the flywheel bolts just stick a Phillips screwdriver through the flywheel and it will catch on the blocking plate where the starter goes

    The flywheel size depends on your bell housing size , the 10.5 and up ( truck size, maybe bronco) won’t fit inside of a 83-93 z3-z6 bell ( maybe far back as 79-93) , I had to use the ten inch but157 t flywheel , and if so you’ll have to go a 3/4 starter or nose ( instead of the 3/8 if you can find one , power masters the only one I know of that has one for that t5 swap

    Im doing the same thing in my ranger 4x4 roller 5.0 and having trouble finding my clutch setup what starter would i need to use with an 11inch setup like this? And if you have links to the clutch and flywheel that would be greatly appreciated. Also someone told me the transmission 4x4 variant of the t5.

    Just a few notes for others that might be doing this on a late model 302: The flywheel bolts go into the crankcase, so make sure to use the thread lock as a sealer. Or as ARP does in their kit, use threadlock on the threads and a sealer under the bolt head. Second note: early model clutches use SAE hardware, late model stuff uses metric. And with metric you usually have three dowel pins in the flywheel for the clutch to sit on. Hammer or press the dowels into the flywheel before mounting the flywheel onto the crank.

    • @ThunderHead289
      @ThunderHead289  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few different types of clutch mounting hardware - there are units where the shoulder of the bolt locate the clutch. I never had any vibrations, it’s still in the truck today and did the full power tour 2019 3000 miles without issue.
      Put probably 30k on the truck since I put this engine together for it.

    • @patw52pb1
      @patw52pb1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Every Ford is/was equipped from the factory with pressure plate dowel pins to precisely align and positively locate the pressure plate on center to reduce vibration, prevent fastener and clutch failures.
      They are also there to share the torque loading in shear.
      Usually Ford OEM and many aftermarket replacement flywheels do not come bundled with new dowel pins or fasteners, however they are available separately from Ford, Ford Performance and the aftermarket such as ARP or from a decent machine shop and are well worth the cost.
