    Everything in your video is definitely of the post-war era (1945-1969) with the exception of that green cattle car, it is of the MPC era (1970-1984) That turbine locomotive is absolutely beautiful!!

    The post war era is the most prolific.
    As Lionel entered financial difficulty in the early 1970's and then bankruptcy and sale, that's where you begin to see real cost cutting!
    I always thought that accuracy of scale and accurate reproduction of lettering and logos on the larger scale train sets was very good for something that was sold for use as a toy as often as it was used as part of a serious collection or in a functional layout display.

      I absolutely love the quality of the postwar era! They’re good looking “models/toys” and they’re powerful! The mpc definitely had its rough spots with the quality!

    You struck gold and are very lucky, because those are beauty's. What is the size of your layout? And does it get cold running trains in the garage? And how do you manage to keep the train layout clean in the garage? What are the curve diameter's that you are you running the trains?

      They’re gorgeous! My layout is a 4x8 and since I’m in Florida it hasn’t gotten to cold yet but i definitely felt the heat during summer time! It stays clean for the most part I just have to dust here and there. I’m using 0-36 on the inside loop and 0-42 on the outer loop

    Electric trains were NOT CHEAP and quality toys after the war were hard to get. Many parents, mine included, only allowed the trainset to be put up at Christmas and taken down before school started in January. Consequently, they got little use and were put away carefully. As kids got older they lost interest in the trains and their kids, now the millenials, couldn't care less about them, so these postwar treasures stay in their boxes, collecting dust in attics and basements. Now as the baby-boomers fade from the scene more of these trains will resurface and hopefully go to good homes and not landfills.

    • @Pgk.railway
      @Pgk.railway  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll do what I can to keep them out of landfills! That’s one thing that I’m afraid of it seems like there way more people interested in the new stuff! There’s nothing wrong with it but there’s a lot of younger people in o gauge who don’t appreciate the prewar and postwar trains since they are “toy” trains.
