My 5th gen 4runner does the same thing. I was told its a safety thing in the event you are in a collision so the hood crumbles up, absorbing the shock. I sort of got used to it but I hear ya, it seems weird to see that in a “higher end” brand and model.
Ya I hear that it’s a “crunch” zone but to visually see it bowing and flexing makes me wonder why it does so much more than other vehicles I’ve been in.

Add in the shakes, the shivers, the noise, and the lack of room. And hey Toyota…can we move on past 1982? I love you but even last gen felt like a silky silent bank vault vs this shuddering mess.
Haha ya if they could’ve addressed some of these little touches I would say it’s the perfect vehicle! Still absolutely love it just picking at details here which do make the final product worth it or not at nearly 100k all said and done
@@JAXEStube Lexus fanatic with an IS500 & GX now, after a strange “eh tried it but not again” LC500 & bad experience with a 2023 LX600 F Sport that felt worth twice the price of these, but was still a mess. The truck division at Toyota needs to look at competition and not just “okay same wheelbase from 1988. Same horrendous ride dynamics. Same awful packaging. Let’s do it again.”
New GX look is fab. The rest disappoints greatly but my LX was “so nice but so bad”, it was baffling. Helps to own 3-5 new cars a year and move on if disappointed.
So doubled down & with an OG GX that’s solid as could be, feels like a bank vault, but has a drivetrain vibration too🥴💀
Keep the honest reviews up!
@@bigdlife86 oh wow you have a lot of Lexus experience than! Ya there’s a lot to love on the GX and since I’ve moved from older commuter cars after I sold my wrangler this thing is levels above all those and I still feel spoiled. I just sit back and think for nearly 100k out the door, what do I feel should be better, and these videos are what I’m coming up with. I’ve loved the LX look but good to hear your experience with them. Seems Lexus/Toyota aren’t impressing return buyers, maybe just new buyers just now being introduced to the brand. For now I’m still very happy overall, just hoping for reliability to still be their brand staple
@@bigdlife86it’s a new wheel base TNGA
My 04 tacoma has the same thing with the hood... its normal for it.
My husband’s Tacoma does that.
@@KrysC-TX does he find it annoying? It’s a little worrisome and obnoxious
@@JAXEStube nah, I think he’s used to it. I don’t really notice it either.
@@KrysC-TX ya I’m getting use to it…still when it catches my eye I get a little annoyed haha
Debris in the engine is the new issue. I've only seen one gx550 and the old lady was not interested in me looking at it. (I'm a 470 owner)
Really?!!! Debris?!? That’s horrible!
People in their new gx550s thinking they’re all “better than thou” is annoying to think about. I feel good in mine but I eyeball all Lexus gens haha! They’re all so cool
@@JAXEStube I think the recall is for debris in 22/23 toyota/lexus models with the v35-fts engine. It may be why people have been pooping on the new hybrid v6 main bearings. *Your short popped up after I read the article and watch a dif gx550 vid. Cheers!
@@noahbirdrevolution cheers buddy! Hope to avoid recalls but being a fully new build I expect some, just praying it’s nothing serious!
Actually very common in new cars
Starting to hear this! If it’s not cause for any concern I understand but I’ve been in several other newer vehicles that felt very solid
Most likely since it’s sheet metal. My Camry does the same thing. Still rated to save your life in a collision though.
@@madclone84 but for the price it better save my life and look solid right??!
Uh the 405 toll lane, fun fun
@@edisonsun21c 😂 shhhh I had a passenger
These are having terrible engine issues as well… trade it & get the last generation model lol
@@larkt6693 haven’t seen any issues with the engines on these? Where at?
Don't park it under trees, falling debris will dent the hood.
Mine does the same thing
More and more, the GX seems like a swing and a miss for Lexus.
It’s a near miss. If it was 60k I wouldn’t care as much, for nearly 100k I do care about theses details
@@JAXEStubethat’s what these dealers and Toyota don’t seem to get. At these prices this stuff is just unacceptable. Like you say if they were charging more reasonable prices then it would be more reasonable to accept issues. They’ve put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth from the start via pricing and now they expect loyalty and patience.
@@thewholeeventhorizon ya you can’t just Jack up your prices without delivering a product that matches. I have a buddy now going for the Land Cruiser at a cheaper price, less power but overall a very similar product. Even then it’s questionable value for the price point…love the vehicle I just wish it matched up to pricing in some areas
These are far from the previous generation quality of Lexus
Never seen this
It should be Lexus not Toyota and design and build quality should be higher ...
That’s what I was thinking also!
@@JAXEStube It shows that only true luxury brands are build from scratch with luxury car budget so to much higher quality ... BMW , Mercedes, Porsche , reliability is another topic due to high complexity and advanced performance these German brands are less reliable and designs are pushing the performance envelope much higher than Lexus Acura or Infinity that borrows heavily from their econo/mainstream brands
@@kdomster9141 I think you have some good points. I do like some of Lexus simplicity that has really grown on me. Fit and finish I think for a new model might be what needs worked out slightly. I would take the reliability surely with these slight complaints I have as that’s where you will spend the most money if that isn’t maintained. Overall it’s still such an amazing vehicle. Just was making a fun video showing my concerns and didn’t expect more than a couple people to watch maybe haha
@@JAXEStube I agree that it is well executed but if it had Toyota logo on the hood and sold for 15K less 😉it would make so much more sense .
@@kdomster9141 you’re not wrong there! But this would then be the nicest Toyota ever haha! Have to now drive the new Land Cruiser and forerunner and see their construction
Sell your lexus pls
Yikes I see it 😮 whoa that NOT Cool
Right?!? Now I focus on it!
Please tell me you call the dealer
