I am an ex-muslim Atheist and I agree with whatever he is saying here. But this also applies to Hindus and Sai Deepak himself. The fundamental flaw is in thinking that this is the one and only life you have - hence the fear of “eternal” damnation…and the consequent impulse to potentially knowingly hurt others in the believer’s quest for “eternal reward”. Those who preach strict dogmas always will exploit our ignorance of what happens after someone dies! When you grow out from a set of “beliefs” and step into “knowledge” (about one’s own self/soul) then there is hope for humanity! This problem fundamentally arise because of the existing Qur’an translations and interpretations. Most of us relies heavily on existing books and assumes that they are to be correct. The Qur’an is in Arabic but it is not the generic type of Arabic which spoke by the 7th century Arabs. The Qur’an uses it’s own Linguistics vocabulary, terms, expressions, locutions, grammar and symbolic terms. The proof is that's why we cannot find any historical evidence that Muhammad was interpreting or explaining the verses of the Qur’an. Neither were his very Close Companions. What ever they claim as evidence are subject to disagreement. There were 3 kind of problem which underlies within the Standard Quranic Interpretations. 1. Those who interpret the Qur’an treated as it was same as the linguistics of the 7th century Arabs. 2. And whenever they were unable to explain something they imported the concepts from the Bible which is on the surface level looks like it’s talking about the same thing. 3. And when they did not find any of the above they super invented it’s meaning. So they super imposed their findings over the interpretation of the Qur’an. An-Naar (ٱلنَّار) which they translated as Hell-fire is such concept. An-Naar is a Metaphor in the Qur’an and is not an actual Hell-Fire. Evidence from the Quran: وَرَءَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ٱلنَّارَ فَظَنُّوۤا۟ أَنَّهُم مُّوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمۡ یَجِدُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مَصۡرِفࣰا And the butchers of interpretation saw the (physical) Fire, and they thought that they are to fall into it, and they could not find a way to steer their own understanding beyond it. (18:53) Which proof the interpreters of the Bible and the Qur’an thought that the Fire that the Scriptures are talking about is the actual Physical fire. And those interpreters were incompetent thinking beyond their limited understanding. Now, the Question is: Do we require reforms to the interpretation for the Qur’an? Absolutely Yes. Now the real question is “Then why does the capital punishment do exist in so called Islamic counties?” Well they are nothing to do anything with the Quran. A Nabi(Prophet) to the Jewish people. 2. A Rasool (Messenger) to the followers of Qur’an. He was not a Nabi(Prophet) for the followers of the Qur’an. Qur’an does not require the Prophethood. That’s why the Prophethood(Nabi) was terminated.

I beg to differ a little. There's nothing wrong for an ideology to believe that their world view is the only correct world view. That religion can still coexist with other religions if they can simply let go of the obsession to convert other people. When you follow your religion, you may not follow all the semantics as they are, but there are fundamental concepts like oneness of God(Allah), the day of judgement and Quran being the word of god which cannot be compromised whatsoever. 1) You can "ban" the Quran, we have it memorized. 2) Even in a muslim country which follows the Sharia, non-muslims can live in an enviroment which they are comfortable in (assuming the muslim country actually follows sharia). They have the right to have their own places of worship, they have the right to not follow islamic spritual law (hijab, fast, pray etc). They have to pay jizya (tax), which if you pay you wont have to participate if the country goes into war. Jizya only has to be paid by adult, free, sane, able-bodied males of military age with no religious functions among the non-muslim community. Muslims also have a tax, zakat. 3) If we need to reform something, it means that that particular thing is not working well. It means that there is some flaw in that thing. All flaws poked at the Islamic belief/tradition has been refuted. We have explained why they aren't flaws. Actually, there is a flaw in the non-muslims understanding of islam. For example, they belive that women have to be in their homes 24/7, but we had muslim CEOs and warriors 1400 years back. 4) If you belive in the correct message first (say 2+2=4), but then don't belive in it because of you whims and desires or for any other reason (eg- u are ignorant) (say 2+2=5), then you are spreading mis-information. Also, you have to be proven to be a murtadd (ex-muslim), meaning if you accidentally/unknowing did something that would make you a murtadd does not count. 5) If you say that there is any flaw in any religion, it means that that religion isn't true. Why? Because how can God (or gods) make a single mistake, if he/they were to make mistakes, we would falter to exist. Obviously, that is not the case. How can a God/gods, who created such a meticulas thing perfectly, fail to guide humanity? 6) Reform in communities (eg if they hit their wives to become black n blue) is possible if its in the fold of islam. it is possible for communities who claim to be "islamic" to actually not be islamic/do something un-islamic.
What kind of reforms required in Islam religion should have been discussed, debated and argued with Islamic scholar first (e.g. Mr. Noman Ali khan, Late Dr.Israr Ahemad, Dr. Usman Sulaiman). I know most of us will have tripple talaaq in their mind. But let me tell you it was just one type of talaaq (I.e. Talaq e bidaat I.e. giving talaaq on the spot without other party hearing is already obsolete in Islam but unfortunately was in practice with less % and recently discarded in India judiciary system) BUT nobody tell us that people who point out Talaaq system in negative sense , their religion does not have concept of divorce at all no matter whatever maybe situation, divorce law is added in judiciary system but not in religion. I strongly belive Islam is already reformed as it was just started spreading 1400 years ago based on most recent revelation (I.e. Quran given to Prophet Muhammad pbuh) by Almighty GOD, as his previous revelation like Tohrat (Given to Prophet Moses pbum), Gospel or Injeel ( Given to Prophet Jesus pbum), Jaboor (Given to Prophet David). So before discussing within non-islamic scholar, all doubt/query/questions should have been thrown to Renowned Islamic Scholar as they are the only right element who can answer your query with proper context and justification.

Those who preach strict dogmas always will exploit our ignorance of what happens after someone dies! If religious scriptures are used for the purpose of that individual quest to elevate oneself to higher and higher planes of knowledge, then we will find that most religions will get you most of the way there, and conflict naturally subsides!

This problem fundamentally arise because of the existing Qur’an translations and interpretations. Most of us relies heavily on existing books and assumes that they are to be correct. The Qur’an is in Arabic but it is not the generic type of Arabic which spoke by the 7th century Arabs. The Qur’an uses it’s own Linguistics vocabulary, terms, expressions, locutions, grammar and symbolic terms.
The proof is that's why we cannot find any historical evidence that Muhammad was interpreting or explaining the verses of the Qur’an. Neither were his very Close Companions. What ever they claim as evidence are subject to disagreement.
There were 3 kind of problem which underlies within the Standard Quranic Interpretations.
1. Those who interpret the Qur’an treated as it was same as the linguistics of the 7th century Arabs.
2. And whenever they were unable to explain something they imported the concepts from the Bible which is on the surface level looks like it’s talking about the same thing.
3. And when they did not find any of the above they super invented it’s meaning.
So they super imposed their findings over the interpretation of the Qur’an. An-Naar (ٱلنَّار) which they translated as Hell-fire is such concept. An-Naar is a Metaphor in the Qur’an and is not an actual Hell-Fire.
Evidence from the Quran:
وَرَءَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ ٱلنَّارَ فَظَنُّوۤا۟ أَنَّهُم مُّوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمۡ یَجِدُوا۟ عَنۡهَا مَصۡرِفࣰا
And the butchers of interpretation saw the (physical) Fire, and they thought that they are to fall into it, and they could not find a way to steer their own understanding beyond it. (18:53)
Which proof the interpreters of the Bible and the Qur’an thought that the Fire that the Scriptures are talking about is the actual Physical fire. And those interpreters were incompetent thinking beyond their limited understanding.
Now, the Question is: Do we require reforms to the interpretation for the Qur’an?
Absolutely Yes.
And we must not take the currently existing Interpretation as our basis for understanding.

Good question. Ok there is no any capital punishment is mentioned in the Qur’an for apostacy.
Now the real question is “Then why does the capital punishment do exist in so called Islamic counties?”
Well they are nothing to do anything with the Quran. They uses something call “Hadeeth(narrations)” to implement this Law. What are narrations? Narrations are nothing but hearsays. Which we cannot verify to be True or False. And those law makes uses these hearsays to prove their cases. And they quote some Qur’anic verses and they twist it’s meaning so they can mislead the masses.
The truth: The capital punishment was brought by those rulers who wants to execute their political opponents under the pretext of religion. The religious authority who did their dirty job to satisfy their rulers. This was how they killed their own citizens. Nothing to do anything with Qur’an. How can one human can explore what is hidden in a another fellow human’s mind? No way.
Let me shock you more! Muhammed had two Missions, two job roles to be fulfilled.
1. A Nabi(Prophet) to the Jewish people.
2. A Rasool (Messenger) to the followers of Qur’an.
He was not a Nabi(Prophet) for the followers of the Qur’an. Qur’an does not require the Prophethood. That’s why the Prophethood(Nabi) was terminated.

When you follow your religion, you may not follow all the semantics as they are, but there are fundamental concepts like oneness of God(Allah), the day of judgement and Quran being the word of god which cannot be compromised whatsoever.

Unfortunately, this is true. Reformist Islam, Sufi Mystic Islam, etc are all there. But none of them are considered Muslim by the mainstream. Islam and Christianity are covenants. If you disagree with the covenant, the contract is gone and you are no longer a Muslim/Christian.

1) You can "ban" the Quran, we have it memorized.
2) Even in a muslim country which follows the Sharia, non-muslims can live in an enviroment which they are comfortable in (assuming the muslim country actually follows sharia). They have the right to have their own places of worship, they have the right to not follow islamic spritual law (hijab, fast, pray etc). They have to pay jizya (tax), which if you pay you wont have to participate if the country goes into war. Jizya only has to be paid by adult, free, sane, able-bodied males of military age with no religious functions among the non-muslim community. Muslims also have a tax, zakat.
3) If we need to reform something, it means that that particular thing is not working well. It means that there is some flaw in that thing. All flaws poked at the Islamic belief/tradition has been refuted. We have explained why they aren't flaws. Actually, there is a flaw in the non-muslims understanding of islam. For example, they belive that women have to be in their homes 24/7, but we had muslim CEOs and warriors 1400 years back.
4) If you belive in the correct message first (say 2+2=4), but then don't belive in it because of you whims and desires or for any other reason (eg- u are ignorant) (say 2+2=5), then you are spreading mis-information. Also, you have to be proven to be a murtadd (ex-muslim), meaning if you accidentally/unknowing did something that would make you a murtadd does not count.
5) If you say that there is any flaw in any religion, it means that that religion isn't true. Why? Because how can God (or gods) make a single mistake, if he/they were to make mistakes, we would falter to exist. Obviously, that is not the case. How can a God/gods, who created such a meticulas thing perfectly, fail to guide humanity?
6) Reform in communities (eg if they hit their wives to become black n blue) is possible if its in the fold of islam. it is possible for communities who claim to be "islamic" to actually not be islamic/do something un-islamic.

What kind of reforms required in Islam religion should have been discussed, debated and argued with Islamic scholar first (e.g. Mr. Noman Ali khan, Late Dr.Israr Ahemad, Dr. Usman Sulaiman).
I know most of us will have tripple talaaq in their mind. But let me tell you it was just one type of talaaq (I.e. Talaq e bidaat I.e. giving talaaq on the spot without other party hearing is already obsolete in Islam but unfortunately was in practice with less % and recently discarded in India judiciary system) BUT nobody tell us that people who point out Talaaq system in negative sense , their religion does not have concept of divorce at all no matter whatever maybe situation, divorce law is added in judiciary system but not in religion. I strongly belive Islam is already reformed as it was just started spreading 1400 years ago based on most recent revelation (I.e. Quran given to Prophet Muhammad pbuh) by Almighty GOD, as his previous revelation like Tohrat (Given to Prophet Moses pbum), Gospel or Injeel ( Given to Prophet Jesus pbum), Jaboor (Given to Prophet David).
So before discussing within non-islamic scholar, all doubt/query/questions should have been thrown to Renowned Islamic Scholar as they are the only right element who can answer your query with proper context and justification.
This fear of hell is one of the core strengths that is keeping Indian Muslims up right given what they are facing in Hindutva Bharat. When the so called worlds biggest mosque is built in ayodhya, request all hindus to visit that place in numbers of thousands and lakhs, lets appreciate the architecture , take pics, spend a day as picnic and come back night, if possible bring all your hindu relatives from different nations, women men children , appreciate their work, pray at the same time and come back home.
