    Too much thanks brother for explanation. It is rare to find troubleshooting videos of this vehicle model 2004. I have engine performance and check engine light issue from years. Work and cleaning done for Mass Air Flow sensor, Throttle body, spark plugs and wires. Just this week I came to know and tested coils using visible sparks technique when my car is shaking violently while idle.
    This car taught me a lot and consumed enough time what I have after my computer programming job.

      Many things can affect idle... also check for faulty crank angle sensor and IAC (Idle Air Control) solenoid.

    Thanks man, you saved my wallet, big time. I bought 3 high quality coils for AUD$120 and changed them myself in about 20mins. My car wasn’t firing properly (stuttering) and luckily I stumbled across your video. Problem fixed within a 2 day period.

    Just a tip mate the dfi module (the plate under the coils is just as easy as the coils.couple of bolts lift off repeat in reverse

  • @mael-strom9707

    To check these coils is easy... loosen all the HT leads after numbering them. With insulated pliers and gloves (so you don't short out your heart pacemaker), start your engine and leave it idling and lift each HT lead off the coil separately. You should see a strong spark jump from HT lead to coil connector. If no spark, then it's a dud coil.

    Rito..now is there a way to test old coils..like crank the motor with the leads off...i find it hard to believe all 3 a not working....like all of my 3 coils dont arc out..has to be a way to self diagnose them..

    Where did you go man?

  • @tomace7794
    @tomace7794 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    You didn't change the ignition module, it's under the three coils (the terminals you plug the coils into) and they can cost anywhere between $70 and $250

      @jamesj415 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like he said, he's not a car person and that's ok. He's shown me how easy it is to replace my coils and now i have the confidence to do them myself so meh.

  • @olivermarshall5860
    @olivermarshall5860 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Shouldn't you disconnect neg terminal 1st? and what size socket did you use, none of mine fit.

      Francis Steele clean your throttle body with cleaner , could also be leads you can check leads in a pitch black night if it has arcs or sparks through the leads they have had it ! You have most likely figured it out though by now

    Its True Mechanics can charge a lot and some are reasonable, but hence saying that, the price on top goes towards there rent, there bills, there knowledge, them waiting around, there tools they had to buy to do the job etc etc....

  • @SpectreOZ
    @SpectreOZ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    To determine which coil pack is faulty disconnect one of the (two) HT leads whilst the engine is idling... if it makes little to no difference that coil is stuffed, replace as required 👍

    • @iamasmurf1122
      @iamasmurf1122 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SpectreOZ you also need to check and see if the leads are okay as well you can do this at night in a pitch black setting , if you see arcs through the leads replace them as well

    • @ffotz9387
      @ffotz9387 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geplayer You've never seen high tension lead pliers (made of plastic)? A spark lead tester is also a handy item to have.
      Alternatively disconnect by hand and then have an assistant crank the engine, as already mentioned by another run the engine at night and without any ambient light look for arcing on/from the leads (this indicates high resistance)
      Additionally... when you say safe do you mean the engine or the individual? HT leads can give you a *kick* (if there is an insulation fault) but it's not like mains electricity (where current can be lethal), as far the engine is concerned disconnecting leads whilst running is no different from a defective lead, the idea is process of elimination 👍

    I am a mechanics offsider it is ridiculous on how much mechanics charge people to do such a simple job here in Australia and it’s all about $$$$💰💰💰💰💰Mechanics like to take people as they are falls due to not been mechanically minded that’s why they’re also rich thieves exactly what they areIt’s very hard to find a good one they all want between 80 and $120 an hour which is pathetic

    You would not know how to change the overflow bottle at all as mine is leaking coolant

    • @Pleaidian-z3x
      @Pleaidian-z3x 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Access from under the front left wheel arch turn wheels to the left to make access to the 3 or 4 hex screws that hold the bottle in place. Disconnect small overflow hose from radiator and pull bottle down and out through the wheel arch. Cleaned mine out today during coolant change.

    Make sure the suspected fault it is the problem by get a second opinion(internet or another mechanic), check trouble codes.
