  • Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon has quickly become a fan favorite because of her quick wit and ferocious fighting style. But today we look at the darker side of her existence within the Jedi Order, an organization that has a one size fit all solution for all of its member.

Wasn't Obi-Wan a Padawan in the prequels? Was he supposed to be a child? I think he was supposed to be 25 and was played by an actor that was 26.
As for Jecki. An article with the actor implies her character was 18 and the actor playing her is 19.
Ahsoka in all fairness does appear to be a young girl and was played by an actor that was around 15 at the time, I don't remember them referencing her characters age. I don't think saying Padawans are just children is correct, only that they can be.

Not saying your analysis is any less plausible, but Dafne Keene gave an interview where she said that it was hard to get away from the raw and aggressive fight training from Logan. Apparently she couldn’t help screaming and being extra aggressive in which had the coordinators telling her to calm down and act more meditative and Jedi-like. Really glad she didn’t though, cause I think it really lends to how someone raw and inexperienced would fight in her situation.

    • @tompearce5418
      @tompearce5418 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Ironically her more aggressive attitude served her well, while the classically trained Jedi around her were getting carved up. Qymir wasn't bothered by regular Jedi, the same way Palpatine mowed down Masters and even a Grand Master but struggled against Windu, whose fighting style was designed to turn aggression back on the opponent.

I think you got it right. But also, what needs to be analysed is the final version of the text, film etc. So let us say, they wanted to do something in a specific way, and failed. We will not talk about their intention, but about the final product. Same applies here. The reason for it is what you mentioned, but when you take it in with the final version of how things play out, the analysis holds.

I'm most of the way through the book but, prior to Disney taking over the IP for Star Wars, this book was canon.

I think for Sol to take Jecki on these missions is very unusual. It sort of says she is the "Ahsoka" of her time (one of the more gifted padawans). None of the other Jedi in the rest of the Order seem to be operating the same way around the edges of the story.

    1. The original mission wasn't something dangerous. It was 7? Jedi serving guard duty for another, well-skilled Jedi Master. I don't think they were expecting combat. This is like when Yord brings his padawan onto the Trade Federation Ship.
    2. While not perfect, there are outlets for emotion in the Jedi Order. The primary way is not combat, but actually meditation. It is meant to help Jedi clear the emotions from their mind. In addition, there are therapy services, (i.e. Jedi masters). Though I do have to agree, They are lacking. Jeki doesn't die because of that, though. It is because she is not adequately trained, sent on what was supposed to be an easy mission, and loses her mind when her whole team gets Killed. Fair given the circumstances, but not necessarily completely the Jedi's fault.

The main thing to remember is that they were after Mae and sent like 7 Knights and 1 Padawan. They feared it was a rogue Jedi that was training Mae. It wasn't supposed to be that 1 Padawan fighting a possible Sith Lord.
Age-wise, Jecki is allegedly supposed to be about 18. So, she had no involvement in the issue on Brendok. That's not to say that the Jedi haven't sent Sol and Jecki on other missions that may be nearly as scandalous.
For sure emotion is fore in her mind, so she would see it as fore in everyone's mind. It is too bad that the Jedi were taught to suppress their emotions instead of control them. "Thought police" is usually a dystopian concept.
Definitely was emotional vs Mae and then vs Qimir. That smirk when she went into jar'kai mode was clearly overconfidence. She did get quite aggressive and even had uttered a battle cry in the moment before she became a pincushion.
As Yord said, "he gets into your head, and stays there". Qimir was certainly clouding and twisting everyone there, evoking and stoking their emotions so as to fuel himself even more (or at least unbalance the Jedi). Combine that with Jecki's innate passions and emotions, and she was bound to mess up sooner or later.

But that's what a really good, slimy villain with no redeeming qualities should do. Complex, relatable villains are all fine and good but sometimes we need a good 'ol fashion utter scumbag villain, and Kimir just oozes pure evil. Your break down and analysis of Jecki has allowed me to see deeper into the story than Disney has allowed on screen, using the Lore that Disney seems to want to ignore, makes Jecki's screen presence more understandable and for that I am glad, thank you. from the moment she spoke to Master Sol I was not impressed, but now I get it and I think you called it well.
as for Mae and Osha, and their origins, I like it because it shows the force IS universal as the Jedi allude to and they offer an alterative take that is not just the Jedi mandate and the Sith's adaption of the Jedi lore and use on the Force,
The Witches make sense for the Force for parts of the galaxy/universe that have not been exposed to the Jedi/Sith influence but still knew of the Force.
this also for me alludes to Jecki's attitude to Osha, as a former Jedi, former padawan of Master Sol and a former "witch" and also explains Mae in many ways too with her Sith master and her willingness to move on from him rather quickly.
Thank you for enabling me to think deeper into the story at things I missed as a Star Wars fan who has been only a core fan and not aware of the Expanded SW lore and Universe.

Im hoping so badly they reveal she survived. Tho if you look at where the stabs landed, its kidney areas and beside the spine. I hope they reveal she just passed out but osga heals her or something 😢

What i was meaning is there is potential that they reveal the wounds didnt strike anything too deadly. Pelagius has three hearts and plays dead in the book, so why couldn't they say Osha wakes up and heals jecki?
