    I always run a 3" body lift with a suspension lift, components are much easier to access when fixing and you can stub the header primaries out between the fender wells and the frame. I do this to all my trucks, never had a problem. Also returned 2 of them to factory height before selling with no problems. I'm referring to 1970's Fords

    180,000 miles on the OEM wheel bearings? True statement for the semi floating c clip rear end with beefy roller bearings, but not for the weak unibearing front hubs. The offset of those rims will kill those hubs in time. I've replaced a grip of them on lifted customer's trucks through the years.

    Also- even with a federal highway certification, each state has their own lift laws. My 7.5” lift in Massachusetts is now illegal and can’t pass inspection, which leads to a registration cancellation, and if you get pulled over with a rejection sticker and a cancellation registration- you’r going to jail.
    If your going to lift your truck-Check your states laws- in my case, they changed the laws a year after I lifted the truck and I just pulled off $3k in lift kit and tires and welded a frame member back in for $1800 in tires and parts. And then sold the lift kit in another state for $500......So DON’T EVER MOVE TO MASSACHUSETTS

    Older trucks can be returned to factory ride height. I have a 84 Chevy that I cycle 3 different kits on. One that's stock height, a 6 inch kit and a 12 inch kit. Different shocks, driveshafts, and steering components are needed for each kit but it works.

  • @WoogieKamikaze
    @WoogieKamikaze 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I retained all the stock components from my truck. If I wanted to I could take the lift kit off because there was no welding or cutting with my suspension lift. My body lift also helped to fit even larger tires on. It is good, just not as good as a suspension lift. Other than those two things I would agree.

    • @zash008
      @zash008 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just why is a bodylift not as good as a suspension lift? Why didnt you just lift suspension more to keep from using a body lift?
      Money? I rest my case. They frown on body lifts simply because they dont make enough profit margin to fool with it. They have too many people brainwashed.

    If something became damaged because of the lift, it’s not covered by the vehicle manufacturer warranty. For instance: CV axles being at an extreme angle, U-joints, tire wear and etc. it’s all situational, but yes a lift kit can void your warranty. Well, at least for the particular part that was damaged as a result of the lift.

    3 inch body lift in addition to suspension lift allows the ability to run true strait 2.5 inch dual exhuast over the drivetrain on a square body chevy even sneaking above the receiver hitch. Painless exuast🙂! Some times they can be a good thing.

  • @timc5e36e24
    @timc5e36e24 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Body lift pluses you need to consider before ruling them out:
    1- you don’t have to cut into the frame/suspension mounting positions as you would with some lift kits hence being able to return it to stock easier.
    2- most newer trucks especially dodges the frames tuck so deep under stock with a body lift they are still barely noticeable.
    3- lower center of gravity vs a lift kit since suspension,drivetrain and other heavy components stay lower with frame.
    4- modern body lifts come with extension brackets for: bumpers, spare tire cable box, steering arm, brake lines, and ground mounts etc.... not just pucks.
    5- stock suspension ride of truck is essentially retained since stock suspension is untouched.
    6- you now have easier access to certain things which you might have had essentially no access to with the body sitting flush against the frame.
    Top of fuel tank! Pump, wiring and connections, brake and fuel lines running tight along side or on top of frame rails!
    7- cost! Do you want the look but aren’t really interested in taking your 2016/17/18 truck through the woods and scratching the shit out of your new truck that you are still making payments on! 2 or 3 inch leveling kit with new angle adjusted control arms+ 3 inch body lift = essentially the same look of a 6 inch lift at less cost.
    There are obviously advantages to a suspension lift over a body lift but you can’t rule out the pluses to a body lift and in some cases advantages to a body lift over a suspension lift.

    Body lifts have their uses, a lot of skids need some extra clearance that a bl gives. Can also get a little extra wheel clearance. And in the case of the Jeep jk it makes your exhaust not burn your feet after you take the carpet out of the tub by giving some extra space between the crossover and the floorboards.. Body lifts can not only give room for bigger tires , they can h3lp you sit higher from water if off-roading in water and mud. They also give more room to wrench on things like shocks,cross member, drivetrain. By being that much higher you will be less likely to get rocker panel rust by clearing splashes and road salt more.
    Also, if engine swaps or mods are done clearance to hood can vary. Body lifts are reversible ,unlike 6 inch or more suspension lifts.

My question is, would using the bracket to lift the front end cause any problems with the suspension/ride? Would it cause any issue with the shock being extended further than factory? Thanks for any insights you have. The suspension lift kits he had (king) were VERY expensive and the bracket option was more economical of course. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    • @I5ZQ8
      @I5ZQ8 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      1fsttoy more towards the BDS side but it depends what kit exactly. I know fabtech has some spacer style lifts but also some coilover kits as well.

    Rear block are stupid and just a cheep way to get your truck up a bit. If you are serious about lifting your truck put new leaf springs in that have more of an arch.

    Fuck a spacer lift and you don’t need to cut anything unless you’re doing a bracket lift and fuck that too. Also, body lifts have their purpose. Just don’t go too high but anything under 3” on MOST vehicles is fine. It’s mainly for fitting bigger tires without cutting. Body lifts can be removed

    I'm also totally against body lifts, but I have a dilemma. I purchased an aftermarket rear bumper for my 2015 Toyota Tacoma and when the tailgate is open all the way it touches the bumper therefore I'm not able to carry long boards or anything else that might rest on the tailgate or it will dent. There's appsolutely no adjustment available to lower or tilt the bumper downward to avoid contacting the tailgate. Do you think in my situation a body lift kit would eleviate this problem? Your advice is much appreciated👍
