Shiva, the God of Death and rebirth. Jesus, the same, Allah, the same. Pretty profound tune about the cycle of cultures. And the repetition of mistakes. Humans have not evolved, even our current inception, beyond self annihilation. We always do ourselves in.
Well, yeah, everything is dying. u say it like were sub par where we are actually meant to be, is the ultimate tragedy of existence. Bit of selfish outlook when u break it down.
There's not a massive number of metal tracks that express so much emotion that it genuinely moves you, but this is one of them. This might genuinely be the most beautiful metal track I ever listened to. I loved it when it came out and I love it to this day.
This is my favourite Fear Factory song. I wish there were a version of the vid online with the music in stereo. The lo-fi mono mix does a huge disservice to it.
Fear Factory is by far one of the most creative metal bands out there. Obsolete was such an amazing album . From front to back . One of my favorite songs was freedom or fire..
Cool! 😎 Im a single, 47 yo autistic Buddhist philosopher! Obviously Resurrection isn't prominent in my religion - but I love this song! I did study Catholicism in undergrad btw - I'm interested in all the major religions.

Spend time with Jesus instead of worrying what group you belong to and you will see a great difference. Also I could never be part of a group that has priests getting caught every other week molesting the children in the church.
When I was overseas doing crazy crap, when I had a moment to myself, I would lay in my bunk, put on my headphones, max the volume, and listen to this album (this song in particular) focusing on each part of the music. It was like a form of meditation. I truly believe that I came out of that shit much better off mentally than a lot of other guys as a direct result of doing that. Long Live Fear Factory!
I was a Husky operator for 15 months and when I'd return from long missions and another base I would turn on my cool speaker and just rock out and my platoon Sergeant told everyone in the building to just " let me decompress " and to just " deal with my metal music ". Platoon Sergeant Showers was the absolute bomb!!!
Funny how nostalgic this is and how modern it sounds. Wonder if FF will have the Pink Floyd effect and have an explosion of interest after their time. They sure as fuck deserve it!
I strongly recommend Mechanize, a master piece, the record where Bell and Cazares reunited and they got Gene Hoglan as drummer, I dont need a "pink Floy effect" I enjoy this mf now and been listening since Soul of a new machine, enjoy as well that masterpiece
Ricardo Galvez Iv'e enjoyed it since the very day i saw them live with Type O Negative 20 years ago. I still wish them legendary status, because they deserve it, they are ahead of their time the same way Floyd was. I don't NEED it either, i enjoy them regardless.
Gbrlsho Seriously! I hear so many people telling me i just got old... fuck that! No dude. There is less talent today then there was even 10 years ago! When was the last GREAT arena rock/metal band? Thank you FF for making this amazing record. Rediscovering all of your music has relit the flame in me when I was giving up and about to say goodbye to everything . I've been in a void the last month. This song still makes me tear up the same as it did when it came out. This album was such a masterpiece and this song was the magnum opus. All the feels pain and frustration and the bleak light of hope at the end of the tunnel. You guys have done God's work without even knowing it. You guys got me back in the gym and got me fighting and raging against the dying of the light of today's society. The world is so bleak right now and the world needs this more than ever. We re sinking with no anthem for hope
28 dec 2011 the day I started getting clean, 17 years of drug addiction that had finished on opioids, been clean since I played this song over and over, it became clarity in my nightmares
This album holds up so incredibly well. It's timeless. Such a special and criminally underrated album. Fear Factory is simply one of the most creative and interesting bands in the genre.
I love so many Fear Factory songs, but I'd have to say this has always been my favorite, especially hearing it live in concert. Moving. Powerful. Beautiful. One of their best. 🙌
Indeed! Demanufacture is a highly underrated album btw. Everytime I go back to listen to that one it still sounds better & more complex than anything coming out today. Especially the song Replica.
Burton's vocals are on another level. Metal is full of incredible vocalists, but the way Burton switches seamlessly from those mesmerizing cleans to that deep , powerful yell/ scream....he has no equal.
fear factory for ever .....anything that changes someones life the way this band did deserves recognition untill the end of time...times may have changed but my absolute admiration for this music will never dir.....metel for ever....
The older I get the more this band grows on me. Which is cool. Because its the exact opposite of what usually happens. Also their songs have great replay ability. They don't get old.
the ending, 3:42, so powerful. get goosebumps every single time i listen to it... burton is an amazing signer. since i saw them in 95 for the demanufacture tour, i've been hooked. can't wait for their next album.
Burton is my complete favorite singer of all time. People often accuse him of singing off-key, especially on the demanufacture album, but all I hear is the beautiful masterpiece of emotion he presented. Obsolete will always have my three favorite songs by them; Descent, Resurrection, Timelessness... but no matter what... Fear Factory will always be my favorite band of all time. LONG LIVE FF!!!! :3
Kamyl Wilson His clean vocals are always awsome on CD but he struggles live sometimes but as you say its the raw emotion he projects its awesome. I love my heavy stuff but I'm a sucker for a ballad (well if you can call timlesness from obsolete a ballad and Final Exit from Mechanized ballads) love the vocals on timlessness
Jamie Ross I try not to hound him too much for his live vocals. Dino always plays live in the same tuning, so when they play a song like Mechanize (Normally in F Tuning) in a higher Tuning; his cleans have to go higher. Which, isn't completely his fault even if he struggles with hitting them.
It is sooooo damn awesome!! I agree torque and hell ya Stickshift! And Kamyl i agree, one of my favorite singers of all time....Burton is unbelievable!
That concept of having to pay for fresh air at a booth has been stuck in my head for years, since I first saw it in the nineties. These guys were Indeed way ahead. And if this album was released in today's Era, it would definetly still be groundbreaking. Such damn artistry.
I'd completely forgotten about this metal classic, which was part of my regular song rotation 23 years ago. It randomly came up in my playlist tonight and it has been restored to my song rotation, never to leave again. Thanks for the awesome, touching tune, FF. Revive all my fears Revive wasted tears Revive void within Revive once again Again, again, again Reach for the sky Touch the sky Revive a hope For mankind
I heard this when I was 14 in 2004 on a burned cd from my friend! But didn't have the names or titles.. Years later remembered the lyrics and boom found this. I probably replayed this song 500 times on my portable cd player. Burned thru countless batteries! Man I love this song it has every thing
This might be my favorite all-time song. I have been listening to music for 40+ years, yet this song continues to haunt me, to follow me, to torment me, but I will never leave it, nor will it leave me
Oh shit I didn't know F.F. made a video for this song!!!!!!!! Holy Shit I am so stoked...... This singer can totally out do Erin Lewis from Stained... As a matter of fact, Erin Lewis and Staind isn't not even in the same league as Fear Factory. This song is one of only a few and I mean a few which means only 2-3 songs of all time in the metal world that can bring me to tears and make the hair on my arms and neck stand up.... Anyway peace out my fellow fans.

Jason Pate Not really. Funny enough, Digimortal, admitted by Burton, was very influenced by The Matrix. He didn't release the concept because he said he realized it was too much like The Matrix.
Nem33 Bro, check your facts before you make comments. This song is on the "Obsolete" album, released on June 28th, 1998. An album i got the day it came out. The Matrix came out March 31st, 1999. I saw it in the theatre on opening night. The similarities are striking between these 2 artistic works, both taking on a very Orwellian "1984" kind of feel to them. The directors/writers/producers of the Matrix created a work of art with Metal music as the underlining current. Even thr plot of "The Matrix" has themes very similar to the story line of "Obsolete" (a concept album), there's only one man who can successfully defeat the machines to retake control over a world gone terribly wrong. I seen fear factory for the first time at Donington 96 cause i first seen there video,s on sky kerrang channel and thought there music was amazing and at donington 96 he pointed out to me and that was mind blowing and i have seen them in Glasgow quite a lot and i can mind at the garage in Glasgow in 2001 he recognised me from donington 96 and gave me a thumb,s up that was just unreal from dino i won,t forget that
i too was at monsters of rock 1996, i was 16 and it was my first festival. can you remember dino taking his top off and asking all the fat bastards in the crowd to do the same? awesome gig, biohazard were on aswell..............epic
3 days ago I visited a show of FF for the 2nd time in my life, to my surprise they came with H-K (the song that got me into these guys, and to this day still is my favorite) and followed with this. The crowd singing the quiet parts along with Burton made it one of the best moments in my life. And after that, they even topped it with Martyr. Was stone deaf for 2 days before my hearing came back, but DAMN THAT WAS FUCKING WORTH IT. (Sorry for my language.) the sound of these guys, the energy, it will be unmatched forever.
What a chorus this is omg. Burton Cell had some pipes back in the day. It's crazy how good it still sounds. Reeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiveeeeee Aaaaaaaaaaaall myyyyy drreeeeeaaaaams
My dad loves sabbath and purple, but hates any metal from metallica onwards and always laughs at it, "death, hell, rooor" etc. This song however blew him away.
I was fortunate to see them in 1998 at the Alrosa villa . I met the whole band , great guys, good times. It was one of the most memorable shows I’ve been to . The line up was amazing too. I got my cd signed by everyone . Snagged a pick from Dino.
Blindingly drunk. This song completes me. True honesty lies only in depravity. I only type legibly due to my tenacity. High IQ, low confidence, bottom hope. Absence of mortality. The only truth lies in pain. Repeating the same pure moment eternally.
Met him many years ago after a gig, their tour bus had broken down at the back of the club and he came out to chat with us, very cool guy. Dino was a fucking bellend though.
@@thisplaceisdeath1465 would be interested to hear more. Haven't met them but the recent interviews with Burton and Dino were interesting yet painful to read. Great band, saw them play Demanufacture in it's entirety a few years ago, amazing gig.
Obsolete, and Demanufacture for that mater, were absolute powerhouses!!! No break in them, you play these albums fron to back with no break, and you'll have a blast every time!
Consumed with memories That preceded today Given a chance to bereave Life is slipping away Suffered through tragedy Of my slow decay Deceptive tendencies Dragged my soul away All that I know There was no God for me Force that shatters all Absence of mortality Revive all my fears Revive wasted tears Revive void within Revive once again Again, again, again, again Forsaken by destiny Forsaken by my own mind I must remove my skin To see belief in your eyes All that I know There was no God for me Force that shatters all Absence of humanity Revive all my fears Revive wasted tears Revive void within Revive once again Revive all my fears Revive wasted tears Revive void within Revive once again Again, again, again Reach for the sky Touch the sky Revive a hope For mankind
I used to watch this song on the school PCs back when I was in high school (am 33 now). Here I am now listening to it again. Good music (like good movies, games, etc) has no expiration date (another really good song by FF, btw).
This track makes me believe that in a dying world there is still beauty to be discovered.
The world only dies if we give up.
Without death there is no life...without life there is no death (the dinosaurs are proof that life will find a way).
Bit of selfish outlook when u break it down.

i agree totally
Meshuggah's Straws Pulled At Random and Godflesh's Love Is A Drug From Hell are other similar ones for me.
Same. Nothig can touch what this band's "ballads" have done. Even Genexus and the whole Blade Runner theme is just.. devastatingly emotional.
Couldn't agree more. Love this track 👍

Fear factory will never die their music is fucking amazing
❤️ the story-line to these albums. Always move me, favorite artists of all time, & still holds true for me like almost 20years later. Amazing! 👱♀️🤘
One of the best metal song ever.
Period.
A true masterpiece
21 years today since the album came out. And it was fucking genius.
(Sorry for my language.)
the sound of these guys, the energy, it will be unmatched forever.
Reach for the sky
Touch the sky
Revive a hope
For mankind
We can only hope
What a chorus this is omg. Burton Cell had some pipes back in the day. It's crazy how good it still sounds.
Reeeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiveeeeee
Aaaaaaaaaaaall myyyyy drreeeeeaaaaams
greatest industrial metal band EVER!
yes
misspelled Godflesh
Leichenschrei No. It was spelled right.
Turmion Kätilöt?
@@Leichenschrei godflesh suck
Who doesn't adore Burton's beautiful vocal work on this album?? His music has burned through all of our souls. Love ya Burt!
My dad loves sabbath and purple, but hates any metal from metallica onwards and always laughs at it, "death, hell, rooor" etc. This song however blew him away.
Sounds like he'd like The Hand That Bleeds too.
itookallthenames I sure hope it did haha
That's awesome.
respect
It's ok I hate Metallica too but love these guys
I was fortunate to see them in 1998 at the Alrosa villa . I met the whole band , great guys, good times. It was one of the most memorable shows I’ve been to . The line up was amazing too. I got my cd signed by everyone . Snagged a pick from Dino.
I’ve been jamming to this masterpiece for a long time! The whole album!
One of the most under rated bands ever !!! I like rap, hip hop, metal, classical. From Beethoven to ...... Fear Factory. These guys belong
Wow...I've had Obsolete for years and didn't until now realize there was a video for Resurrection.
+ChachaChapati Dayum you're late :P
Then again - So is this response xD
Its my 36th bday. My first without Dad. I came here for strength 🖤
Blindingly drunk. This song completes me. True honesty lies only in depravity. I only type legibly due to my tenacity. High IQ, low confidence, bottom hope. Absence of mortality. The only truth lies in pain. Repeating the same pure moment eternally.
Fucking epic and lyrical my friend. I hope you find peace
This is taking me back, just watched 'Down' Mountain biking Dvd. Holy throwback!!
One of my favourite songs, this is what got me into FF.
I wish I could go back to when I first listened to this.
Burton C Bell is a legend.
Thank you for that.
dino tho
Met him many years ago after a gig, their tour bus had broken down at the back of the club and he came out to chat with us, very cool guy. Dino was a fucking bellend though.
@@thisplaceisdeath1465 would be interested to hear more. Haven't met them but the recent interviews with Burton and Dino were interesting yet painful to read. Great band, saw them play Demanufacture in it's entirety a few years ago, amazing gig.
He is somehow a prophet who tried to show us the terrible truth behind the SYSTEM.
Obsolete, and Demanufacture for that mater, were absolute powerhouses!!! No break in them, you play these albums fron to back with no break, and you'll have a blast every time!
It's my daughter favorite, she's only 4 years old.
LindaOo27 Parenting at its best! 🤘🏻
☝️In fact, Metal will never die. 🤘
Nice work. You’ve made my day!
Parenting Done Right
Let it stay that way pls. It’s better for kids to listen songs like this instead of modern pop-rap-whatever it is garbage
So much talent in this band, such a great band & most creative of the 90's
And the first to mix dirty vocals with clean....and then the 2000's came and everyone started doing it.
Consumed with memories
That preceded today
Given a chance to bereave
Life is slipping away
Suffered through tragedy
Of my slow decay
Deceptive tendencies
Dragged my soul away
All that I know
There was no God for me
Force that shatters all
Absence of mortality
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again
Again, again, again, again
Forsaken by destiny
Forsaken by my own mind
I must remove my skin
To see belief in your eyes
All that I know
There was no God for me
Force that shatters all
Absence of humanity
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again
Again, again, again
Reach for the sky
Touch the sky
Revive a hope
For mankind
Tearz turnd , from sad2hapy; from the melodyz of FEARFACTORYz INCREDULOUS, MUZIKAZ.
This is our world, reflected of us. If you see frivolity, you are dead, if you see simple music, you are the machine
its long time ago, when i was teenager and listen this awesome music... volume up!!! \m/
Sigue siendo una de las mejores canciones del metal....la letra, la armonia, todo encaja en los sonidos del universo.
Revive all my fears
Revive wasted tears
Revive void within
Revive once again...
Reach for the sky
Touch the sky
Revive a hope
For mankind...
Gotta be one of the best tracks I have ever heard in my life, totally hooked to it these days.
I swear, Bell is like the Corey Taylor of this band. Can vocalize like an angel and growl like a monster.
I think of that when I hear his IOWA vocals it does remind me of Burton and the powerful sound
I used to watch this song on the school PCs back when I was in high school (am 33 now). Here I am now listening to it again. Good music (like good movies, games, etc) has no expiration date (another really good song by FF, btw).
I'm mentally ill. anxiety, depression and bipolar. this song explains exactly how I feel most days
Same here. I'm getting over a bout of psychosis right now and for some reason all I've wanted to listen to is Fear Factory lately.
Ever time I hear this song I time travel back to 2009 when i was 3 and i wouldn't stop listening to this band I have the coolest parents
Metal in the year 2113
Heavy, groovy, harsh and clean vocals, fear factory are among the GOATS of metal.
Greatest song by the greatest band. Enough said.
