Have seen them a few months later supporting Slayer on the Divine Intervention Tour. In my opinion this was one of the best Support Acts from Slayer. Have seen them a couple of times but this was awesome. A young fresh band ready to take the world by storm. Cheers from Germany and stay healthy.

@@Joe.Grimm. heard them a few days ago in Milan. Chris is still a human drum machine! He played a bunch of solos, he even played drums like bongos with his hands during one of these. You could totally tell, by the end of the performance, he was completely loving being back as the MH drummer! He almost cried while thanking the crowd.

Indeed, Machine Head were something quite special to begin with. I know there are those out there who LOVE The Blackening, but I personally find it over-rated (and dull) as hell. Burn My Eyes though was one of THE great debuts. I remember back in the day (when we all used to carry cassettes around in our pants) having tapes of Burn My Eyes, Sepultura's "Chaos AD", Pantera's "Vulgar Display" and Biohazard's "Urban Discipline". The early 90's were a great time to be alive.
The difference between the first and later album - especially after the 4th one - of MH is that the 1st and 2nd album are simple and straightforward - a pure power in its most raw form. It needs no complications and complexity... which is what happened to the MH music later... unfortunetely.
After their second album, MachineHead were all but destined to be one the truly great premier leage metal bands with Pantera, Sepultura, Metallica. Then they released the Burning Red - oh dear

There are bands where you can forge an emotional connection to the music through their guitar work and lyrics. Burn my Eyes is the only album I've ever heard where I've forged that same connection through the drum work. It goes behind words. Never have drums sounded so angry, so emotional and aggressive, like they're telling their own story both independently whilst also complementing the guitar work and vocals.
This song doesn't age, it just gets heavier and heavier.

Kris's drum sound on this album is off the charts.
There are bands where you can forge an emotional connection to the music through their guitar work and lyrics. Burn my Eyes is the only album I've ever heard where I've forged that same connection through the drum work. It goes behind words. Never have drums sounded so angry, so emotional and aggressive, like they're telling their own story both independently whilst also complementing the guitar work and vocals.
90s drums I feel were perfected. High production value but still sounded natural. Obviously a generalization, but generally it was really good
