Which then always makes me wonder if, instead of remaking the ORIGINAL movies--they could have made Alternate Universes? It's an alternate Universe, so why not be live action this time? It's an Alternate Universe, you can change ANYTHING without the fans coming at you with torches and pitchforks. There is so much creative potential in Alternate Universes that you can revisit the SAME story as many times as you want because one little 'what if' can change so much.

Transformers One did the angle of two people loving each other like brothers but are slowly torn apart by clashing ideologies where one gives into their jealousy and rage while the other channels his anger into protecting others and caring about the future of his people like a king would. We know that Megatron and Optimus Prime will end the film as enemies but the movie treats it seriously and as the tragedy it is. And this is not a slight against TF One, it’s a genuinely great film but given the grandiose of the Lion King you think Disney would have done something similar.
I don’t believe Mufasa is canon to the 1994 Lion King, but the live action Lion King and I believe the live action Lion kings movies are alternate universe and only believe is canon to the 1994 Lion King is Lion King 2:Simba’s Pride,Lion King 1 1/2,and Lion guard. Also My opinion 1994 Lion King is one of the best thing Disney ever made and Scar is my favorite Disney villain of all time.
fr lion king was such a dissapointing live action, most of them are like mulan and pinnochio and snow white. they need to stop before they make things worse for their reputation.
Kovu is not Scars son. He was born roughly around Kieara's time of birth hence why they are very close in age. And by then Scar was already gone. (Stating this cause it will get rid of the implication that keiara and kovu may be cousins tho given with the current lore of the lion king who really knows at this point.)
TBH, I'm not a big fan of prequel/origins stories, UNLESS... 1) The creator is the one that came up with the idea, OR 2) The creator at least approves it or is involved in some significant way. This is exactly why I didn't like much the Maleficent live-action film. It's not a bad film, by any means, but giving her a sympathetic portrayal while making King Stefan a villain is certainly not something Walt Disney himself would approve.
He really did! What would have really sealed the deal would have been a track from Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Adventure 1's Theme of Tikal (the OST CD version) is the closest. Edit: There's also a Pokémon song in there, too.
I do love the original Lion King, however, comparing this movie to it I feel is unfair since its a completely new story and animation style. I went into this movie wanting to see cgi lions, a completely new story from this universe (since I loved Lion King 2 so much as a kid), and the villain from the trailers (who was both gorgeous and intimidating). I will say cutting out all the present scenes and just having the movie fully be in the past would've help its identity. Side note: In the back of my mind while watching the fight scenes, I was thinking, "what if this was rated P-13 or R?"
Oh really boyo? You said "Hurr stop comparez to original, itz differrrrrrr" when Disney said it's literally a "remake" (a bad CGI version at that) with everything done to mimic and leech on original movie and TV series' lore. And no, pretending it's standalone still won't make a turd more shiny.
Thankfully, they didn't use an AI voice of James Earl Jones like they have been doing with some songs where they have an AI use the voice of a dead band member.
Idk what where they thinking about launching this the same time as Sonic 3 I mean, if some kids see two posters, one with colorful cartoony animals, and other with photorealistic boring animals, which movie do you think they would watch?
I found it pretty good. I didn't like that Mufasa and Scar weren't blood brothers like in the original, but that was the only thing I didn't like, but the music, scenery, the voice acting were what I loved about the movie.
Ngl id rather watch the Narnia films then ether of the remakes of TLK. Idk they lions just feel too uncanny-valley for me,tbey should’ve just made some thing actually original with lions. It’s dumb there hellbent on destroying every shred of canon the original films had
When transformers one did a thenominal job at developing resentment between the 2 main leads Then the load of nothing in mufasa is just hilariously incompitant
What i hated about that movie. Is the Disney obsession with making all the villains sympathetic or just being bad because society nonsense. Realistically people have free will and they can choose to do evil with it. Sometimes desires, pleasures and feelings makes people hurt others. That's what's realistic about Scar. He was jealous of his brother and thought he deserved the throne. Envy is a strong emotion. That's why green is Scar more predominant color used in his song. His story remains me of Cane and Able. I would liked in the movie Mufasa getting more attention and approval from their parents and seeing Scar how he felt under Mufasa shadow. Probably wanting to prove everyone wrong. Meanwhile Scar is a goody two shoes in the trailers.
The animation was... okay? But I was a bit underwhelmed by the fights. I do have a few cats and sometimes they just play with each other. That looks more intense than the fights in the movie (and with my cats nothing happens lmao in the movie lions die). No fur thats flying around (esp with all the claws), no smaller stones or pebbles that get flown around... in a rocky area, no dust. I can excuse the lack of blood because it's Disney, but everything else? Mufasa just falls into a cave and gets up like nothing happened. If it was stylized or 2d it'd be different but this movie wants to be as real as possible so... why
I really wouldve enjoyed it if it were in the same animation style as the other lion king movies. I'm still interested in watching it (if it's on Disney+), but since it's in live action I don't really think it'll have the same feeling (especially since the lion king 1 live action remake didn't do that job either).
I would think teenagers would make a more interesting movie than dusty old executives making everything about it be for profit and cutting anything too new or different
No, saying Mufasa feels like it was made by teenagers for teenagers is an insult to teenagers who make movies for teenagers, just like how saying the Action 52 NES game was made up by a five year old is an insult to five year olds
Who else loved the moment where Mufasa and Taka left their home, Kiara says “Run Mufasa!” and suddenly they are chased by the white lions again? I felt like I missed an entire scene😃
.....what?! So that made it so Mufasa isn't the first BORN?! Nope, as a huge lion king fan, why do NONE of the sequels and spinoffs ever follow the same fucking family line! BUT BUT, will give them the bow for using Scar's real name.
I actually watched this movie early while it was still in development. It was the first live action "remake" type movie ive ever seen and i genuinely enjoyed it. I liked the songs, i liked the animation (that was there cause it wasn't completely finished), but my main problem was that the switch from Taka being good to bad was just not built that much up like you said. (Also the fact that Mufasa just banished and discarded his brother so quickly after everything they went through and Taka just made one mistake that could have been forgiven)
Wow Disney putting out the same emotionless movie again that uproots the Story of the Original movie Walt Disney is rolling in his grave right now on what his company has become its so sad to see that Disney and Pixar was the standard to meet at one time.
Anyone else hate how the photorealistic lion king is desperate to force a love triangle between Sarabi, Mufasa, and Scar? Reducing Sarabi to a lust object and reducing scar's motivations to incel
Mufasa and Scar wasn't even suppose to be biological brothers in the original 1994 film. Scar himself says "I’m from the shallow end of the gene pool," which clearly implies that they're not brothers by blood.
It was honestly a better film than I expected! It still honored the culture the original animated film established unlike some live action princess movies! The title character remained true and wasn’t nerfed for the sake of woke! It still had heart and emotion and the songs were well done by Lin Manuel Miranda!

@teaz3139 a snake that caused him to go crazy and end the lives of the rest of the members of the Lion Guard. Heck if I'm not mistaken that same snake shows up as a villain. My gosh I bet you hate Rapunzel's Tangled adventures as well
@@D.p663 they should have done the lore for the live action movie better. Because this doesn't get me to want to ever watch either movie.
I personally think the movie should be in 2d since the original Lion king was in 2d
Does DazzReviews bash opinions?
What the 2D animated film needs is one final 2D sequel serving as the King Lear of The Lion King!
All I have to say is: go watch Sonic 3 instead
I read the Disney's Twisted series, which is essentially the Disney version of Marvel's What If.
"What if Mulan had to travel through the Chinese Underworld," -- [Shang was struck down by Shan Yu instead of her in the mountain pass,]
"What if the Blue Fairy wasn't supposed to help Pinocchio" -- [Essentially works as a huge prequel story to the original movie]
And the few I've read have been good.
2 movies about 2 friends/brothers released the same year….both very interesting reactions
It’s good
Maybe this one will also flop, and we'll never have a sequel...
*glares at Hasbro*
Now scar has every justification to kill mufasa out of jealousy and we can now imperfectly sympathise with him
I already see people fully defending him and blaming Mufasa after this trash released 💀
I still don't understand why he saved him in the end... Like... For what?? He saved him in the beginning to betray him to save him again to kill him huh
I hate when all movies are trying to do now is make villains understandable, like no, they're villains for a reason I'm not supposed to like the creep I'm supposed to hate him, now all I do is feel sorry for scar because the outsider made him an outsider, now it's okay for him to take revenge instead of meticulous planning tenacity spanning "although decades of denial makes sense" but like that's supposed to be his selfish narcissism not his justified right to the throne
It's already happening...I've read commented where Mufasa stole Sarabi from Taka. As soon as I realized that was the entire reason for Taka apparently turning on Mufasa, I realized...this was going to be stupid. Scar was an incel.. That's it. That's the story.
@nicholasmartin5167 I feel like they tried to reference the books where Taka got his scar from a failed plan to get revange at Mufasa for being favoured by their dad.
I just watched the 1988 Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe last night, and that Aslan puppet looked so much better than all of this
Did you watch it on Disney plus
@ryansingletary7018 no, it's free on TH-cam
No, its free here on YT @ryansingletary7018
People in 2024 if Mufasa: The Lion King was released in 1997-2009: WOW THATS PEAK CINEMA
People in 2024 if Mufasa: The Lion King was released in 2024: Complete garbage
(Ridiculous…)
A recent Disney live action is terrible? Wasn't expecting that 😮
Is it a disappointment if you didn't expect anything to begin with
Huh
@Coyvegas disney has been so far up themselves recently that people are expecting disappointment. "You can't be disappointed if you expect disappointment."
What's funny to me is that the movie's handling of why everyone calls Taka "Scar" makes it so before his death, Mufasa is essentially insulting his brother while pleading for help. 😂
Weird I thought Lion King 2 shown what happened to Scars biological son, Nuka.
that's fanon, not canon.
@rosevee34 the actual animated Disney sequel...is fanon? How it was literally said in the sequel movie when Nuka is gripping about having to look after Kovu and how Kovu is the chosen one, despite Kovu being adopted by Scar.
@@sarahtelles1931its fanon that Nuka and Vitani are Scar's children. All 3 (Nuka, Vitani and Kovu) were meant to be Scar' children but then they realised that meant Kiara would be getting with her dads cousin so made it that Kovu simply chosen by Scar instead of being his son. But they never said anything about Nuka and Vitani so fans assume its Scar
@Markus2E5I6I think Nuka actually was confirmed to be scars bio kid
Also not going see the Mufasa because wasn’t Huge fan of live action Lion King and my opinion Lion King it the worst Disney live action of all time and the trailers I saw I don’t like what they doing Lion King like make Mufasa a orphan and Scar the rightful king make no sense.
Also My opinion 1994 Lion King is one of the best thing Disney ever made and Scar is my favorite Disney villain of all time.
fr lion king was such a dissapointing live action, most of them are like mulan and pinnochio and snow white. they need to stop before they make things worse for their reputation.
I’m not shocked.
I genuinely enjoyed this film lol. Thought it was ok.
Kovu is not Scars son. He was born roughly around Kieara's time of birth hence why they are very close in age. And by then Scar was already gone. (Stating this cause it will get rid of the implication that keiara and kovu may be cousins tho given with the current lore of the lion king who really knows at this point.)
Not to mention that in TLK2 Nuka himself literally says "Scar wasn't even his father" when he's doing a bit of whinging to himself about Kovu
0:52 damn Malificient always getting forgotten for doing it first
*Paramount’s Not-Terrible Sonic 3*
TBH, I'm not a big fan of prequel/origins stories, UNLESS...
1) The creator is the one that came up with the idea,
OR
2) The creator at least approves it or is involved in some significant way.
This is exactly why I didn't like much the Maleficent live-action film. It's not a bad film, by any means, but giving her a sympathetic portrayal while making King Stefan a villain is certainly not something Walt Disney himself would approve.
I just know this movie is going to get absolutely annihilated by Sonic 3. There's no doubt about it
I find it funny that you used Sonic music in the background in this video...
He really did! What would have really sealed the deal would have been a track from Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic Adventure 1's Theme of Tikal (the OST CD version) is the closest.
Edit: There's also a Pokémon song in there, too.
They had a backstory already and they really scrapped it for no reason.... Such a shame.
I already had the mistake of seeing The Lion King remake back in 2019, and I will not repeat the same mistake.
Also, I wonder if the parents who were disappointed in Moana 2 decided not to waste more money this time around.
The Sonic music in the background 😂
No joke I got an ad for Mufasa the second I clicked on this video I just wanted to mention that
lmaooo the trailer playing before this video is so funny.
Holy sh*t I got an ad for the movie in the middle of this vid I was so confused
@@thientuongnguyen2564chill man, just because you don't like it doesn't make it a bad movie. we all have bad days, no need to project :)
@@julius-j9q Said the schmuck wasting money on it.
Mufasa just gave me like... knock-off Lion King 1/2 vibes. I see I wasn't too far off with that.
The sad thing is that before I saw this, I got an ad for Mufasa
The worst part is that James Earl Jones didn’t voice Mufarsa
Well I'm not too surprised on that, he's dead isn't he?
Thankfully, they didn't use an AI voice of James Earl Jones like they have been doing with some songs where they have an AI use the voice of a dead band member.
Not a mufasa trailer playing before the video
Idk what where they thinking about launching this the same time as Sonic 3
I mean, if some kids see two posters, one with colorful cartoony animals, and other with photorealistic boring animals, which movie do you think they would watch?
I found it pretty good. I didn't like that Mufasa and Scar weren't blood brothers like in the original, but that was the only thing I didn't like, but the music, scenery, the voice acting were what I loved about the movie.
This week in a nutshell: 🦁🔫🦔
And IGN rated this an 8/10
While they gave sonic 3 a 6/10
Why?
Because IGN hate Sonic?
@Quason1 IGN probably hates everything.
@@JaviSocas2My2ndChannel ikr
It's even funnier, IGN said "Sonic 3 is better than the previous ones" yet they gave it a lower score.
I think they got the scores mixed up.
A live action Disney movie/remake/spin-off being a disappointment! Who could've seen this coming?!
(This is sarcasm btw, please don't get mad)
Ngl id rather watch the Narnia films then ether of the remakes of TLK. Idk they lions just feel too uncanny-valley for me,tbey should’ve just made some thing actually original with lions. It’s dumb there hellbent on destroying every shred of canon the original films had
literally nobody is going to watch this unless sonic 3 movie
i aint even realise this was a new movie; i saw a poster at the train station and wondered why they were re-releasing the live action lion king
God that cgi looks absolutely atrocious. And usually I can look past bad cgi lol.
many are just glad that James Earl Jone's name came first. At least disney remembered that & to talk not to fight.
I mean the lion king live action was incredibly mid, so I'm not surprised the prequel is too
When transformers one did a thenominal job at developing resentment between the 2 main leads
Then the load of nothing in mufasa is just hilariously incompitant
Sonic 3 def better and I haven’t even seen either
You can’t make an opinion on movies you haven’t even watched :/
I genuinely hate that the public is eating this up. The lowest common denominator of humanity is now the status quo.
I wouldn't call it a disappointment. A disappointment would imply we had any expectations for it to be good whatsoever.
If it was stylized or 2d it'd be different but this movie wants to be as real as possible so... why
Makes you realize how the animated version is superior. I don't think anyone can fill in the shoes of both Jeremy Irons and James Earl Jones.
Called it. CAAAAALLLLLED IIIIIITTT!! 😂
I really wouldve enjoyed it if it were in the same animation style as the other lion king movies. I'm still interested in watching it (if it's on Disney+), but since it's in live action I don't really think it'll have the same feeling (especially since the lion king 1 live action remake didn't do that job either).
I forgot the mufasa movie was even being made
Can we all please stop calling these Lion King remakes live action? It's not.
It's cgi, if people want to watch walking, talking, cgi animals, go watch Sonic.
Perhaps we treated the straight to video/dvd sequels (Lion king 2 simba pride, Bambi 2, and Fox and hound 2 especially) to harshly
Sonic 3: Long live the king...
Just watched the movie and it was so bad... It felt like it was made by a group of teenagers for teenagers, I expected much, much more
I would think teenagers would make a more interesting movie than dusty old executives making everything about it be for profit and cutting anything too new or different
No, saying Mufasa feels like it was made by teenagers for teenagers is an insult to teenagers who make movies for teenagers, just like how saying the Action 52 NES game was made up by a five year old is an insult to five year olds
This is why I went to go see Sonic 3
I got an add for the Mufasa movie while watching this 😭
IT KNEW
Who else loved the moment where Mufasa and Taka left their home, Kiara says “Run Mufasa!” and suddenly they are chased by the white lions again? I felt like I missed an entire scene😃
.....what?! So that made it so Mufasa isn't the first BORN?! Nope, as a huge lion king fan, why do NONE of the sequels and spinoffs ever follow the same fucking family line!
BUT BUT, will give them the bow for using Scar's real name.
making kimba the white lion the villain is crazy...
Ik it looks bad
I was in the movie theater and at the end some kids said “whoa that’s scar!”
Lmao I got the ad for Mufasa on this video
I got a Mufasa ad before this 😭
Well That movie Is great and awesome but Didn’t expect see taka got scar from, kinda epic ending so.
why it was a failure:
lions are not the king.
no kid wants to see lions sing anymore
lions are boring...
shoebill king would be an instant success fr
What do you mean this movie's out already?
Mufasa and Scar wasn't even suppose to be biological brothers in the original 1994 film. Scar himself says "I’m from the shallow end of the gene pool," which clearly implies that they're not brothers by blood.
And also the fact that they physically looks different definitely strengthen my point
Dude. Sonic 3 was gonna mop the floor with this “film” from the very beginning.
RIP to the poor animators that were held hostage to make this
Don’t watch it people, literally just watch sonic 3
Well I for one Loved it
Why have a realistic lion this Christmas when you can have a very fast blue hedgehog!!
It was honestly a better film than I expected! It still honored the culture the original animated film established unlike some live action princess movies! The title character remained true and wasn’t nerfed for the sake of woke! It still had heart and emotion and the songs were well done by Lin Manuel Miranda!
