So the tank capacity is 14L, hp with the catalysator 73hp, without 77hp. Nice bike, just bought same, only difference I got black wheels. Will do the same breathing aid. And going Michelin tires. Probably gearing it down for easier urban driving.

Hello and thanks for the in depth review, just recently got one, could you please share a link on the item that upgrades the battery performance ? Thank you very much!

Great bike. I own the 2008 model but found I had to change the sprocket and gearing down for city traffic, since I was constantly slipping the clutch at peak hour crawling speeds. Once I did that she was perfect for my needs. I don't think I'll part with this one. I have a feeling she'll become a classic.
The stock pipes perfectly match the look of the bike, but at high speeds (100kph) I can't hear them over the wind noise. I've removed the cans to hear it raw and it's helped - so I might have to come up with a permanent solution there. The only issue is that custom slip ons are hard to find for this model now - and I want to keep her as original as I can. Any thoughts?

Of course it's got cam belts they're under those grey covers. 😂 Slipper clutch ? I don't think so. They never fitted the S2R with a 900SS engine...they did fir the 1000DS engine in it though so sane as the Sport Classics , Ugly Multi , 1000SS etc......its a great engine

Came here to say this too. Gear driven??? What are those belt covers then!?! Same as all the other ducs - BELTS!

Does anyone know where this Ducati t-shirt can be purchased? I've searched far and wide and cannot find it.

Lift the tank so its easy to get to throttle body, yes after spending an hour removing the air box.

Couldn't finish the video, after 6 minutes I've had enough of the misinformation given everywhere.
Decats were sold by multiple companies (spark, arrow, termignoni, zard, etc...), you don't need to "source" a specific american market one, which btw also had the catalytic converter mounted as factory.
The butt dyno feeling the extra 5 bhp is also a good one, specifically if the guy didn't change the ecu (ducati perf parts) or remapped his old one, the bike won't gain any power and might even loose some.
The brembo front brakes on this specific model are known to be shit compared to other ducati models (even the small 600 had better brakes). You need at least a master cylinder swap for them to be ok, and it's advised to also replace the calipers and disks for older monster parts.
The explanation of the slipper clutch was also a bit wonky, but hey, I'm not sure I would do better in a one shot in front of the camera, same for the 44 tooth front sprocket. But the "race parts" bit is just bullshit. Following the order of the video:
The plastic tank has nothing "gp", it's just the tank used on all first gen injected monsters. The quick release system exists since 1993 on the monsters. The slipper clutch (aptc) was used on the 620, 695, s2r 800 because they were the "beginner bikes" in the range and allowed a lighter clutch lever compared to traditional ducati clutches. Ducati doesn't make it's own exhausts, so of course, another company will do it for them (remus in this case, silmotor for the older monsters, nowadays they use akrapovic mainly). The single sided swingarm would allow for a quick release wheel, if the exhaust didn't block the path of the wheel (high mounted silencers kinda fix this issue). The frame is roughly the same as all the other 1st gen monsters (going back to 1993) but was originally picked from the 851/888 so kinda race oriented). The "top of the food chain aircooled twins"comment is also funny when you know the s2r 1000 started the same year as this one (around 20 more bhp and a few kg more)."Racing clocks" are also shared across multiple ducati models of the same years (s2r/s4r, sportclassic, ssie, etc...) and the same style was used since the injected monsters came around 2000. So nothing really ground breaking there.
All in all, being an s2r owner myself, I agree with most of what the guy said. It's a light, fun bike with that aircooled v-twin feel and a very good chassis. But please, if you want to give informations in a review, at least give the good ones.

I'm a S2R 800 owner myself and I fully agree with you. The first thing on my todo list is replacing the brakes. The are indeed shit. The S2R 800 is a budget bike considering the full range of bikes they made in that ara. I have a Dark version and I love it! The single arm looks very good on this bike. I will nog sell this bike very soon..

Yes, had mine for 8 years, love it, full arrow exhaust, 900 ss front discs and goldline calipers, 43 tooth rear sprocket, one less on the font, engine romps throughout the rev range, fatduc 02 manipulator, much smoother below 4000 and no more pops and bangs.

Yeah I wouldn't decat without a retune, she'd be very lean

I'd remove this video if I were the owner. It's pretty embarrassing. The camera is literally focused on the timing belt covers for the entire video.

Have a look before ordering cause there are 2 models of decat pipes. The one that have the horizontal exhaust in two parts and the other model that have a unique tube that connects directly to the cylinder head
