That first piano sound is pretty good for an instrument that costs less than $300! It's even more impressive you have 76 keys to work with. And the "super articulation" on some of those non-piano sounds is cool, too.

Great video!! I have been reviewing various types of keyboards and ran across the Yamaha PSR-EW310 and to tell you the truth, it is priced so low that I assumed that it was like some of the Chinese knockoffs. Your video helped me make a decision on whether it was worth the low price or not. Thanks a lot I appreciate it.

Hey, my Yamaha PSR-EW310 takes a few seconds to turn itself on - to be able to play it. While my older PSR-E363 was faster. So I am wondering if you have experienced something similar?

If someone were going to start piano lessons, how long would something like this be useful before the absence of piano-like action would truly be a significant problem (recognizing that there will be a transition period when switching to a weighted action regardless and that's acceptable)?

I'd say about a year. It's always best to learn with a digital piano or a real piano of course, but if that's not possible, an entry keyboard should give you enough to last for a year or a bit more

    • @fredrik999z

Depends on the player and music style. If you are serious about playing piano then a soft touch keyboard is not a good start at all. The feel is different and all functions and sounds can be distracting from actual playing. But the new PSR-EW310 with 76 keys is still better feel in stiffness then previous models and the piano sound is great so it can work as a serious piano for a long time.

      Manual: europe.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/3/1334923/psre373_en_om_b0.pdf
Press the [FUNCTION] button several times until “TouchRes” (Function 004; page 52) appears.
After a few seconds, the current Touch Response appears
Use the number buttons [1]-[4], [+/YES], [-/NO] buttons to select a Touch Response setting between 1 and 4
      1 Soft
Produces relatively high volume even with
light playing strength. Best for players with a
light touch who want to maintain a consistent, relatively loud volume.
      2 Medium
      Produces a fairly “standard” keyboard
      response.
      3 Hard
The keys must be played very strongly to
generate loud volume. This setting is best
for a wide dynamic range and optimum
expressive control of the sound, from pianissimo to fortissimo.
      4 Fixed
All notes are produced at the same volume
no matter how hard the keyboard is played.

To everyone who are planning to buy EW 425 or E 473....I had purchased the keyboard a week back. I was using E 453 before. My advice to everyone....don't buy this keyboard. Really disappointed with the quality of the same.
    Reasons
    1) The first tone...Live Concert grand piano which is the primary piano tone is horrible...it is very thin as a sample and you can't edit it as the problem lies with the sample itself.....the second tone which is Live Grand Piano is way better..it is pretty fuller and acceptable.
    2) The speakers are very poor and less louder ...you need to keep the volume at 85 to 90 percent ....the voice coming out is pretty average. Now they have given a button call MEGABOOST which can increase the volume which increase all the frequencies...it has level 1 and level 2....once you go to level 2...the voice distort.....this is so stupid...why will you do that....instead the speakers auto should automatically be powerful and stable enough to do that specifically for EW 425 which is said to have stronger speakers.
    3) The build quality of the keys and off on button is the worst...cannot believe it.....yamaha is degrading the quality of the keyboard...it looks like
    4) Lot of voices present in the keyboard are too thin and these cannot be edited or usable....specifically the Live Concert Grand piano
This is the most genuine feedback you will find on any website.....these youtube reviewers won't tell all these flaws since they are paid by Yamaha...it looks like......my E453 was way better overall
