Thank you for keeping the 2015 R3 updated with mods and upgrades! Props to the camera work as well - nicely done showing proper focus on the steps needed to accomplish this install.
these vids are a godsend man. you make everything so simple, even a trash mechanic like me can handle it. thanks Brian and STG crew, I appreciate all your work. Loved watching Max race at Road America last week; that junior class was some of the most intense racing of the weekend. Good luck in WA and hope to see y'all in WI again
I watched all your videos on the R3. Each one is perfect and undoubtedly the best how-to videos I've ever watched. Very thorough, detailed, step-by-step, easy to understand instructions and excellent camera work, take all the guessing and headache out of trying to learn. I just bought a used R3 with about 2k miles on it for my first motorcycle. Though I'm no stranger to turning a wrench, you inspire confidence in a new rider when it comes to performing regular maintenance on my bike. I can't thank you enough but definitely earned a sub from me and will be purchasing my parts from STG in the future. Thanks again! -Nick
@SportbikeTrack Gear Thanks for all of the great videos. After watching your videos, I have the confidence on wrenching on my Ducati 899 Panigale. I just finished a single sided swing arm conversion on my bike because of that confidence. If you ever need to wrench on a Ducati let me know! lol
Hey, thanks for the video. I was wondering as time comes to change the spark plugs, can iridium spark plugs be bad for the bike (I don’t track it), I just want them to last a little longer than copper (they’re a pain to change, that’s why lol) ? I've read anything and everything on that subject, that's why I'm hesitant.
Awesome video! However I cannot fit a long 16mm spark plug socket on. I think it hits the extension through the center of the socket. Any tips would be much appreciated.
@@sportbiketrackgear Yes! I actually found out it was 14mm because my 2018 model had the LMAR8A9 spark plug. Not the standard CR8E 16mm socket spark plug.
have I missed a video on the tuning of the power commander or has there not been a video? kinda wondering I am putting my money on your R3 putting out more power then mine due to your full M4 system over my M4 street slayer slip on but by how much
Why do you remove the Tip of Spark Plug before installing them? Just want to know for my information. I have just bought a bike and I am going for my first service in a day or two. Any tips for my first service? I have been following your work ever since I did not even owned a motorbike 😂 also what Tyre pressure do you suggest for a 150/60/17 rear and 110/60/17 front tyre?
Go for 36psi on front and 38psi on back, ride and see whether you feel comfortable or not, if not comfortable then gradually decrease by 2 psi for both front and rear until you find a suitable pressure for u
I do not really expect a significant difference (if any) in performance between the OEM NGK and the Irridium version. The price difference was very slight so I opted to run what I feel is the best of the 2 options. We only use and sell NGK plugs, IMO there is no reason to look elsewhere. - Van
If the plug is worn it will improve the performance a bit. End of the day this is a maintenance item that you want to replace before it becomes an issue. They are cheap and easy to install. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear In northeast India due to hilly road and traffic jam r3 faced a lot of issues , many times our bike suddenly turned off in traffic jam and we need to press the ignition button for a several times because the bike can't ignite properly, can this also be spark plug issues
You can use either of the plugs in this link: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/parts/yamaha/yzf-r3/2015/?_bc_fsnf=1&brand=65 The iridium plug is technically better, not sure you would actually feel any performance benefit but it would last longer. - Van
We only had a couple thousand miles on our STG R3. Considering most all of these were on the track I decided to replace the plugs. End of the day it is just good maintenance and they are cheap. - Van

If and when I adjust the valves we will. I may send the motor out to have some improvements made, if that happens I will not be adjusting the valves. - Van
I just want to say a big thank you for your video. Must’ve watched this a dozen times as reference for working on my R3.

No you can pull the tank with any fuel level in it. When we shot this it just may have been pretty empty. - Van

How good are iridium spark plugs for small cc bikes? And do you recommend using any other brand rather than NGK. Please do let me know..
