Thanks man. Getting a new bike in a few months. Moving from a CBR300R to a R3. CBR300R is exactly like the R3 throttle, WAY TOO DANG LONG. I have to break my wrist on the highway to get to speed. Not dealing with that on my new bike lol.
I just picked up an MT-03 a few weeks ago and this will definitely be the first mod I do. Great video really showing clearly how to do it. And nice SKX by the way!
Damn. My throttle cable is insanely tight! I can't get it back in Edit: here's a tip to anyone with the same problem, screw the throttle cable adjustment (the long nut) clockwise until it's as close as you can make it, gives a lot more play and it will become way easier
I just did the swap myself. Honestly there's so little difference it wasn't worth the extra 20 some odd dollars. The only thing that was worth it was the Pro Grips that I went with at the same time have so much more grip than the factory junk. They also have a little more vibration dampening vibration dampening
One thing i don’t understand is how you can pull less cable length and still get the same amount of throttle, wouldn’t the max throttle position be lower now
Hello, first of all. Great video, great explanation! I wanna ask a question about the step where you apply "grease" onto the throttle, I dont have grease for that use, but I have WD40 in hand, would that do the job aswell? Since it is something similar such it works as a lubrificant too. ✌️🏍
Went to do this mod tofay on my 2019 R3 and found that the bottom cable that would reset the throttle tube to the resting point, was snapped and it finished itself off when I took the housing off. Now I need to replace the throttle cable assembly too
Great video and thanks for the link! We only need the white throttle tube and don’t necessarily need it along with a new grip? If we get with the grip, would the other side have to be changed or is it the same as the R6?
Thanks for making this video. Two questions for you. 1. My throttle sticks a bit only after putting back that last plastic piece, before putting back the bar end. Loosening the screw seems to fix the problem, but what may be the actual cause? 2. I see some comments about not being able to have a fully open throttle after installing this. Is there any way to check if the throttle is opening up fully? I notice a click when I wind the tube as far as it can go. Is that an indicator of a WOT or is that sound something else?
So i just changed my throttle tube on my R3 to a R6 tube and now theres delay in acceleration and i can see the rpms jumping up and down as i turn the throttle, i nearly fell as turning because my RPMS randomly went up in the turn. BTW im really low on fuel if that helps with anything
okay fuck, im struggling with putting that final cover back on, the cables just wont seem to fit properly and get stuck if the cover is put on flush, ie. throttle gets stuck
when you say brand new how new can it be before re greasing? ive had my bike for about 7 months since august. Should i get grease for it? what do you reccomend?
0:43.....those are needle nose pliers, and channel locks. A vise grip is a locking pair of pliers with a spring and adjusting screw. Btw, the reason I'm pointing this out is not to be anal, but to clarify for anyone who doesn't know and needs to go buy the tools. If they asked for a pliers and a vise grip, they would not get the tools you are using in the video. Terminology matters.
I did the r6 throttle tube swap for my 2020 R3 Moto GP edition, and I noticed that it knocked my top speed down to 96 mph, when I was previously topping out around 112-115mph. Has anybody else had any problems with this? Let me know please, I’ve tried just about everything I can think of!
Hmm, sounds like something may have gone wrong on the install. Maybe swap back to the original and see if things go back to normal, just to eliminate the throttle tube as the issue and not the cables.
Hey MotoObsession! Two things real quick! First being that this is a great well detailed tutorial on how to install! Second being, I was one of those people who had a really tight throttle when I installed this. For people who have the same problem, please refer to this video th-cam.com/video/Hf2MeJLbfuo/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps somebody!
@@kombait7349 there is a third screw which you can't see from the outside that well... You have to turn your handlebars all the way to the right and then take a look inside the bike for a better view. If you spot the third screw, pull it out :)
feel slightly stupid asking but currently doing the upgrade and curious. Does the throttle just not open as much, or is it still fully open, just at less of a radius than the stock?
Yeah I mean I'm curious too, because it looks like it'S cutting throttle. A guy down here just typed that it choped his top speed, but it is only 1 you know, others look like fine...
the shorter throw maybe reduces the cables full length from being pulled by a tiny amount but while testing it, it seemed to pull the cable the to the full stopping amount as the original, just will less wrist turning needed.
Glad someone takes the time to properly explain and show how it’s done instead of skipping over small steps
Did it today. One thing most people don't talk about is, my up and down shifting became much smoother. Blipping seems much easier.
Awesome, so much better right?!
@@moto.obsession Yes, definitely!
I’m excited my shifting is perfect 85% of the time which now
I’m very excited and for wheelies hahah
Here to comment and praise your camera angle and explanation. You’re a saint and I have nothing but respect. Thank you

i did this mod like 3 years ago and loved it and was happy the R6 had the same grips to match
It’s a great mod for the price 👌
This is the 1st video showing the "hidden" 3rd screw, which I didn't know about. Thanks

Just bought a R6 throttle tube for my 2020 R3 and this was a super easy video to follow!
Thanks! How do you like it?
where did you purchase it ?
I have that same seiko. You are the first person I've ever seen wearing it besides me.
Such a great watch under $500!
incredible explanation, will absolutely be doing on my 2023 R3
Great video. Just swapped the throttle tube on mine. Bike should have come like this from the factory. Feels great.

Edit: here's a tip to anyone with the same problem, screw the throttle cable adjustment (the long nut) clockwise until it's as close as you can make it, gives a lot more play and it will become way easier
I assume this is why he didn't show the part when the 2nd cable hold goes back in during reassembly. It's a real bitch
I live next to a school, sorry about the screaming kids in the background - promise they aren't mine 🤣
Hey man, does this work for the 15-18’ R3 as well.? Thanks in advance
@@David-Nong Yep, it does work on those models as well!
R6 throttle tube coming in tomorrow for my 2020 MT03. Thanks for the walkthrough on the installation! Pretty sure it’s the same on the MT03 as the R3
Yep, basically the same!
Great tutorial i ordered from the link in the description box. Now my R3 2021 Monster Edition feels better thanks.
Nice!
Mine came in today. Easy video to follow. Thank you for taking the time to make it
Glad you liked it!
this changes the bike completely. dont even have to twist the throttle anymore.
Hey, did your top speed drop or does it feel like it cut some throttle? Or does it feel the same like the original but with shorter radius? :)
Made it much easier to get to full throttle imo

Awesome!
Really great tutorial nice camera angle, i’m entertained.
Thanks!
Nice video looking forward to that exhaust review!
Working on it, trying to get some good audio on it to go with it 🏍
One thing i don’t understand is how you can pull less cable length and still get the same amount of throttle, wouldn’t the max throttle position be lower now
The cable has enough slack in it to compensate for any minor changes like swapping out the tube.
@@moto.obsession thanks man!
This was gonna be my next mod. Thanks for making the video and explaining very well. I appreciate it bro! SUBSCRIBED!
It’s pretty easy and helps the bike feel much better when using the throttle, you should do it!

The part I have listed in the description includes the grip, I would only swap it out with the grip since it’s so inexpensive.
Does this make the bike alot more jumpy or is it not really noticeable? I only city ride so alot of slow maneuvers. Great video non the less
No, just as smooth, just requires less wrist movement to get to full throttle
Does it matter what year R6 tube or it can fit any year?
My two hidden screw are on soooo tight I can’t even remove without stripping it

Hey did you ever find the fix
Just let it sit for a day or two.
I installed that, but my throttle feels now really stiff/hard to pull, but why?
So i just changed my throttle tube on my R3 to a R6 tube and now theres delay in acceleration and i can see the rpms jumping up and down as i turn the throttle, i nearly fell as turning because my RPMS randomly went up in the turn. BTW im really low on fuel if that helps with anything

You're right, thanks for the perspective, I should have clarified further
what's the use of that black plastic you removed from the throttle tube?
What is the function about the plastic washer on R6 tube
Does this get rid of the play at the start of the twist?
