This video was already approaching 8 minutes so I didn't want to make it any longer. One thing I would add though is that, currently if a believer dies, he is immediately in the presence of the Lord. We don't know exactly what it looks like but it is before the resurrection at the end so we know it might take the form of a spiritual presence. If you die, you are immediately with Him. That is great hope. But it's not the greatest hope. It's not the end of the story. The final act is when everything will be put back together, including the earth and our bodies (those who've trusted in Jesus), and we will be together with Him in fully restored Shalom.

Can I just be honest for a second? Sometimes the internet really bothers me. We don't see people as image bearers, or fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, we see them as profiles, avatars, and pixels. And once you do that it's very easy to dismiss them because there's no relational investment or humanizing element.
Interesting to note how tribal people have gotten over the rapture video. I've been accused of "going bonkers", falling off the deep end, being a heretic, and being "cray cray" (which is one of my favorite phrases, but looks like it got turned against me lol).
It is fascinating to me how easy people can write off another person and COMPLETELY dismiss their work over a video or two (I have over one hundred videos, a book, blogs, etc and multiple people messaged me saying something to the extent of "AFTER YOUR LAST VIDEO I'M UNFOLLOWING YOU! YOU ARE TERRIBLE AND NOT BIBLICAL").
That's understandable with the deity of Christ, or authority of scripture, or a myriad of other very important issues, but eschatology (study of end times) might be one of the most debated and differently held beliefs even among conservative orthodoxy. PS thanks to all of you who have actually engaged. With grace, winsomeness, pushback, etc.
But seriously, as Christians let our internet behavior actually stand out and be a witness. Let's color it with grace, kindness, gentleness, benefit of the doubt, and all together genuine humanness. Lastly, for those still studying and thinking about this topic checkout the book 'Surprised By Hope' by NT Wright. He's a first rate world leading Christian scholar and goes into much depth on the scriptures, first century context, and our hope as Christians. One of the biggest problems in common hermeneutics is forcing the bible into our worldview, and a lot of things in end times theology have fallen into that trap. Appreciate you all!

As soon as I saw the title, I thought, "uh oh, the comments aren't going to be all sunshine and lollipops on this one!" I believe in the hope of His coming at any moment, but I agree with you -- this isn't a saving doctrine and we're all on a journey of learning and knowing God better. None of us can be 100% correct on everything we believe to be true, and we SO need to give each other grace, when we don't agree, as the Bible tells us to! Thank you for addressing this. Maranatha!

Also, for further research checkout NT Wright's (one of the leading New Testament Christian scholars in the world) commentary on Revelation or other works by him such as 'Surprised By Hope.'

So glad you addressed this theology in one of your videos Jeff! Growing up with the Left Behind series as well I was confused to not actually see it in the Bible. My father who is a retired pastor explains it very similar to the way you addressed it, he believes the Bible is clear about Christians being persecuted in the last days, meaning we would have to still be here, meaning no rapture.

I'm a huge fan, Jeff, but definitely want us to be at least aware of what God has definitively told us in His Word. I don't think He would make it so complicated to comprehend to the average layman, but then again we should not take everything in the Bible at face value considering parts of it are not meant to be taken literally.
With that said, I think it's awesome to be conscientious of other theories, to be well rounded and to think critically--so thank you for sharing your findings--but in this case, I encourage folks to read God's truth for themselves, asking the Holy Spirit to really give you peace about the matter. And honestly, if you are God's people, don't stress! God will take care of you no matter what happens :)
    Matthew 24: 36-42:
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."

I've been studying in Revelation lately, and I still don't know what theological stance on the VERY end times that I take; it can be very confusing. But I think people dwell too much on the subject anyhow; Revelation as a part of the Bible is obviously invaluable, and as Christians we all look forward to the time when we are finally made complete in Jesus and get to begin an eternity with Him. However, if we're so busy thinking about that future, we can end up neglecting our present; RIGHT NOW we live in a broken, shattered world full of hurting souls that need shepherding to Christ. That is our job. Jesus spent very little time talking about what was GOING to happen, but instead concentrated on instructing His disciples in what they should be doing NOW. Just something to keep in mind.

From my standpoint, I'd say that you cannot completely disregard Revelation as it is definitely important for us to know. For " All scripture is god-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and trying in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3: 16)

It's sad to see a lot of people in the comments saying they won't even watch the video due to the title, or just plain hating on Jeff for saying something different than they are used to. I feel some of these people are just blind followers of MEN and some may just disagree, but it's still unfortunate that we as believers can't just discuss things and not make it personal or get so upset/offended. So many comments saying they no longer like Jeff just for seeing things in a different light. :/

I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms about this video. Jefferson is not the only one that speaks of the possibility of no rapture. There are pre, mid and post trib believers and some extremely dedicated men of God who have come to believe that there's no pre-trib rapture. John Shorey is one of those guys. I feel that part of being a Christian and a believer of God is being prepared for the worst of times that could come our way. None of us are above Jesus and he gave his life for the entire world. Jesus said that there will be many who die in His name. We should not be afraid of that. Either way, it all works out in our favor in the end so we should STILL be thrilled! All love

  • @jessicabrown2113

@Jefferson Bethke , I've been feeling lead to tell you, that this video is still helping alot of believers let go of fear of the end times. I've shared it with quite a few ppl the last year or 2. I use to have night terrors as a kid & had been controlled by fear, which caused this religious, performance, trying to be a good enough Christian mentality. I didn't even know I could opt out of the rapture theology until about 12 years ago. As I've let go of religion and fake humility over the years, God has been doing a major heart change and transformation of my mind. Giving me so many visions and revelations. Recently I've recognized how amazing it is to have the communication with him, ever since He spoke to me in my darkest moment, was when I really started to recognize his voice more clearly. The last couple weeks, he has been building my faith & reminding me to trust my gut, discernment & relationship with him. He's taught me how much we miss out on because we are scared to ask or feel we will offend him or something. So now I know just like I want people to be direct with me, I got that from my Papa/God. So instead of depending on other ppls relationship with him or a pastor or theology. I just ask him directly. 2 weeks ago he gave me 1 Corinthians 15 out of the message. As I began to read it, I was like wow maybe the rapture is real, this doesn't make sense. Even in the vision he gave me it wasn't the good ppl that were taken, it was like black spirits being plucked out. He told me, wait to read the rest until you get home & read it with your husband. So although that was hard to wait telling myself what if I forget. Then I realized if it's God he will remind me in his timing. Hours later totally thinking about other things now, I walk in the front door and see my husband on the couch, I set down the groceries & said I need to read something to you right now. As I'm reading it God is giving me Lil open eyed visions to match up with it, to show me the truth of it & the holy spirit is fill us up. And I'm like WOW, so that's why it's so important to read the whole chapter, because r reading just a scripture or 2 can be taken out of context so much that its actually the opposite of what it appeared at 1st. The other thing he had been revealing and last night it was so clear was Revelations 22 out of the message at least which he told me to start reading the last 7 years to simplify & he said he left hidden treasures, but you have to let go of religion to see them. In Revelations 22 the tree of life is in the throne room of heaven I've been asking him about that for 2 years now. At 1st I thought maybe Eden was always a spiritual place not really on earth, but yesterday as i read it The revelation hit me. The Bible ends with heaven & earth as 1 confirming what God had revealed to you in this video. I know you had alot of ppl turn on you from this video, proving you are definitely one of his. If you don't have religious christians/pharasees coming against you at all is when you need to question if you are really on the right path. Cuz the majority crucified Jesus, the majority doesn't mean it's truth. My husband and I both got knocked on our butts with holy spirit truth to this video & a few of your other ones. So even if 1 person is viewing them its worth it. Keep being obedient to Papa, you have been a vessel that helped change my families path in the wrong direction we were Luke warm & didn't know it. God bless brother

    Matthew 18:6-7
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!
Be careful what you preach! You just caused a lot of people to stumble with this video. Please make sure that you are led by the Holy Spirit before preaching the Gospel of Christ. Because there is no way you can tell me that the Holy Spirit revealed this to you. These were your own personal opinions.
    Sincerely,
    Your Watchman [Ezekiel 33]

Literally the only video by Jeff that I disagree with. I don't think the rapture will happen exactly as imagined or depicted in fiction like Left Behind, but there are quite a few verses ("He will return with His saints", etc), as well as the peculiar two different words used to describe the second coming (epiphanaea, parousia), and also, Revelation 3:10 with Revelation 7:9-17, that seem way too significant to not believe we will be spared the Tribulation. Additionally, the Word states that the old heaven and earth -- particularly the earth which has been tainted with the curse of sin -- will pass away right before the new heaven and earth come.
I do agree, though, that we shouldn't just be hiding away waiting for the rapture. I'm just not sure how we can have hope if we, His loved ones, are going to be forced to sit through the hardest time in human history, especially when the Word mentions, in a variety of interesting passages, that we will be spared the Tribulation's judgement.

Yep! But when you take into account the entire arc of the scripture you see it's a full restoration and renewing of this earth (so much so it's a new one entirely). But the bigger thing is that it's heaven AND earth. The hope isn't to get out of this place, but for it to be new.

You're listening to the research and facts rather than the voice of God. Trying make it "make sense" when God's ways are not our ways. Noah had warned people about the flood but nobody listened, yet thay didn't change the fact that there WAS going to be a flood that will wipe out humanity except for Noah and his family. In the same way Mr. Bethke, you can talk and give facts to support why you don't believe in the rapture. It will still not change the fact that there WILL BE a rapture. I love your spoken word poems, but this right here is false. Like it's stated in the Bible, God's ways are not our ways.

The way He left, He shall return, in the meantime, stop waiting and go do what He has called His church to do and be fruitful on the vine and preach the gospel and make disciples. For me He is with me all the days of my life and I dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. Up until then, its mentoring and keeping my brothers and sisters accountable and standing in the gap for the church.
    Love you all :)

To respond to this video, there WILL be a rapture, either pre, mid, or post tribulation. How else the church is going to escape the wrath of God? That is what happened in Noah's time, and in Sodom and Gomorrah. My hope and opinion it will be Pre.

      "Pre-trib" rapture
Christians are not appointed to Gods wrath.
Revelation 6? Jesus who is God opens the first seal releasing the Anti-christ. Which most would say starts the "tribulation", the biblical term would be The time of Jacobs[Israel] Trouble.

Sodom & Gomorrah is a picture of the Hebrews escaping fire.
Noah is for us. Noah was a Gentile. We were Gentiles. We go into the Ark (Jesus) SEVEN days before the first drop of fire.
Lot the Hebrew left right right before the fire came (Rev 12 Jews flee right right before Jerusalem "Spiritual Sodom" Rev 11:8 is destroyed, and NOT 7yrs before. like Noah/us)
We leave in Rev 4:1 "Voice like a TRUMPET "Come up here" Jesus calls". (think 1 Ths 4 and 1 Cor 15 TRUMPET CALL)
The 7yrs Start in Rev 6:1
We are in heaven by Rev 5 "Many tribes, tongues and nations" "Kingdom of priests"
JEFF IS SOOO WRONG ON THIS. He is repeating a 'man's teaching.
I am repeating Wisdom, Understanding & Knowledge from Holy Spirit.
Jeff is damaging and hindering people's FAITH.
He is not preaching "Comfort" thru the rapture as Paul did and commanded:
"Comfort each other with these words"
      Which words?
Well, he had just taught on the pre 7yr:
      "getting caught up" English Bible
      "Harpazo" Greek Bible
      "Rapture" Latin Bible
Let us pray for Jeff that he would fast and pray and discover this for himself by instruction of Holy Spirit.

Chucky yes, true. it also talks about the cry of command and an archangel's call and the trumpet of God being blown !! not so silent and secretive as the pre tribulation rapture describes it .. it also doesn't say the time when this will happen so you can't really say this happens before the tribulation .. if you see 1st Corinthians 15:51-58 "it says in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet "
so the last trumpet basically sounds at the one and only one second coming of our lord Jesus after the tribulation
also, 2nd Thessalonians 2:3-4 its says " let no man deceive you in any way; for the day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed ..." it says the day of Jesus (second coming)will not come before the rebellion!!
we will have tribulation in this world as long as we live .. in fact you have no idea about the Christians being persecuted and killed in Egypt ,middle East , Pakistan etc..
so tribulation is the world persecuting us and it's happening right now , don't confuse it with wrath of God ..for even the apostles died the most horrific deaths (stoned, boiled in oil etc) they accepted it with open arms
so be careful not to stray away or fall into unbelief if the rapture doesn't happen.
      God bless.

Just as Paul said in 2 Thess 2, before we are gathered to Messiah (aka, the rapture [Resurrection]), two things must happen first.
    1. The great falling away (rebellion)
    2. The man of sin (anti-christ) must be revealed.
    Sounds pretty simple to me.

It's sad, yet no surprise that the body of believers so often miss the forest for the trees when parousing through the comments here. Instead of getting distracted by unproductive debates or hating on another, consider extending some grace, practicing humility, and building a foundation with what we can agree upon. Exercise a little maturity too by having a healthy debate and remaining civil ... especially when agreeing to disagree. Change begins with unity and constructive conversation. A better quality question to dialogue around is ... what are you called to and what will you be found doing whenever He comes?

  • @Robdeltonie

Another thing I would add about 1 Thessalonians 4 is that from a historical context, the early church at Thessalonica was losing hope because there were people who had already died, and as Jesus obviously hasn't come back yet, they were afraid those that had died wouldn't realize the fullness of Jesus's kingdom. Paul was using these words to encourage them that they will be resurrected at the end of time and still dwell in God's kingdom with Jesus on his throne. (And for the record, I do believe that believers will immediately be present with Jesus upon their death.) The idea that this verse supports the idea that God will rapture the Church is unfounded. Furthermore, as someone with an Amillenium view of Revelation, it brings me much hope to think that Jesus is already the King of the universe and is ruling right now, and I eagerly wait for the day that Jesus returns and restores this world back to the goodness of the Garden.

I'm sorry but beware of wolves in sheep clothing, you have a lot of people who listen to your words who are new in the word and who also been with Jesus for some time. The danger of your words you express here can led many astray, because God is Holy and His word is true and faithful, when Jesus said watch and pray because you don't know the time the Father will send Him to get His people and church and those babies with "wings" is all just ignorant I'm sorry but the word says to rebuke your brotherS with the word and love, Jesus said on that day two will be in the fields and one would be left the other taken ,when the kingdom of the antiChrist is in affect here on this Earth, the word plainy and clearly says it and I pray that you humble yourself And ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and revelation to the scriptures before you post up what you feel is right, Remember God is Holy Faithful and Just and when He comes and dwells on this earth it won't be like Cesar or any other earthly king but as the One True Creator and King with His bride us the church is people. God bless you and be with you, pray brother.

just because the Bible was written using "ancient terms" does not mean the Rapture does not exist. Do you not realize the Bible also says Israel will become a nation again? wasn't that an ancient issue as well? I think not. you barely touched on the topic of the rapture itself and rather spent the majority of the time making weird/useless correlations to things in the past and what not. many signs point to a physical rapture, whether you want to acknowledge it or not, such as Middle East conflicts, rumors of wars, natural disasters, one world gov'ts, etc and they all lead to one final result: a rapture. You did not talk about the rapture itself or about anything of the sort but rather talking about stuff that seems nearly, made up? I could go on but i've said enough for now.

Let me continue... Harpatzo in greek (if i spelled it right).. What about Moses and Elijah? Moses who died and was raised (his bones were not found). Elijah who did not die and was taken up. Both of them, appeared with Jesus on the mount of transfiguration. Moses representing the saints who died before the rapture and Elijah represents the believer who are still alive and will be taken up.
The Church is a mystery that were not revealed by Jesus to the Jews when He was still on earth and so is Harpatzo (rapture).
Just like Universalism.. No one can be more "generous" than God. If you are not like God, then you are not generous.

You also bring up a good point: We need to remember that when we have our hope solely fixed on the day when we are rescued from this "evil world", we forget that one of the purposes of a Christian is to spread God's love, forgiveness, and Jesus' Good News to the world so that through Him, they will be saved as well. We should always be willing to shine our light into the world and other people :3

It didn't add up but it was scaring the hell out of me wondering if my family, dead dad, and I were going to heaven or not because we weren't doing everything perfect. But this puts everything in a different perspective that makes a lot more sense. Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight!

    • @dagman85
      @dagman85 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Nate Aldrich I hope you are able to sleep well. For what it's worth, if you're feeling fear about something, it's not from God. 2 Timothy 1:7 says "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." The Holy Spirit will convict us about things, which might feel like a realization that something we are doing is wrong and that we need to change our behavior. But if you're feeling fear, that is most likely from the enemy. Have a blessed week and sleep well!

Just Edge It just has to be under water, and done in Jesus' name. I've heard of people being baptized in a garbage can that was filled with water, and bath tubs work very well, too. The other important part is that the person being baptized has sincerely repented toward God, and that they're being baptized in faith, realizing that it is through that act that their sins are forgiven (Acts 2:38). +Valerie Rojas He isn't rephrasing or changing anything. The Bible can never mean what it never meant. The whole idea of a "rapture" is foreign to the earliest of Christians in the 1st century, and for a large part they held an Amillennial position until the 1800's. I'm not saying there wasn't any discussion on the matter, but the notion of dispensations and a secret rapture and tribulation did not start until John Nelson Darby started advocating it and it got put into study Bibles by CI Scofield. There is a nice little book called "A Teacher's Guide to Understanding End Times" by Sam Powell. It's a small book, and can be read in part of a day, but it has a lot of good information on the subject and all the history behind the development of the various end time positions.

The timing of the rapture is something I've struggled with for a while. I still believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, but you DO make a lot of good points, and I do think that there are some organizations that use the rapture to promote gnosticism. And movies like "Left Behind" and other things I feel like are not sending the right message AT ALL. I don't really like the whole idea of bringing people to God out of fear. It should be out of love. Like, yeah, hell is scary and forever and it should be scary, but that isn't the focus. The focus is the love and grace of Christ and how it's greater than anything earth has to offer.
So thanks for the video, brother.

I watch his video concerning premarital sex and whether or not it's wrong. He argues that it's not able being wrong or right but rather if you should engage in premarital sex. The bible clearly states fornication is wrong, it is sin and he's telling people it's based in their feelings.

      @SeanWilliams90 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Candi The word "rapture" isn't even in the Bible. It is NOT native to the original Greek of the Bible. The passage in 1 Thess. 4:17 is not a reference to a secret rapture, but is the Second Coming where Christ returns to rule and reign upon the earth.

    • @r.f4851
      @r.f4851 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+Sean Williams Sean, please explain something to me. At the end of the tribulation period, spoken about in revelation 19&20, there is the millennial reign. All the righteous people that endured tribulation is ushered into the millennial reign, this means that they are the ones that will live on earth as flesh and blood beings and will eat from the tree of life. Anyone that died or was raptures prior to that will live in heaven as spirit beings, not flesh or blood. So what you're saying is that everyone living now will go through the tribulation and will never get to live in heaven. But will be forced to live on earth.

    • @SeanWilliams90
      @SeanWilliams90 8 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't believe that Scripture teaches a "Great Tribulation," along with the vast majority of Bible scholars around the world. This is a false notion imposed upon the text. There is not a time when persecution is greater than it ever was. There is tribulation at every era for the Church. The Millennium is just a symbol for a really long time, and should not be taken as an actual 1000 years. Revelation is not a chronological ordering of the end of the world, but multiple retelling of the same event.

Your claim is interesting, but no one seems to notice one fatal flaw in your theology that makes your claim heresy:
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
If this universe is burned with fervent heat, it cannot he possible for Jesus to 'restore' and 'unite' the old one with Heaven. There will be a NEW Heaven and a NEW earth, therefore the old heaven and earth cannot 'reconnect' like you claim.
Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

I'm in total agreement with you brother jeff.i also don't believe in a pre tribulation rapture, but i used to believe in it,thank God for the holy spirit and discernment.now what will all you believers say when the man of sin is revealed, the tribulation starts and all believers are still here? What better way for Christians to turn from the truth and fall astray when the pre trib rapture doesn't happen and turns out to be a big fat lie.
We all know that the devil has come to do nothing but steal, kill and destroy(john 10:10) and he counterfeitd everything Jesus does,so would it be a fair thing to say that he could stage a false pre trib rapture?
The last time i checked Christ Jesus our only God and saviour made it pretty clesr that he would be returning after the tribulation of those days when the sun is darkened and the moon stops giving its light
    matthew 24:29:31
29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other
John 17:15New King James Version (NKJV)
15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one
The evil one is referring to the antichrist if i'm correct and the Antichrist had obviously not been revealed at that time.the spirit of the antichrist has been here even before Christ manifested himself in the flesh, but the man who the spirit of the antichrist will possess has not been revealed yet,so Christ couldn't have been talking about the disciples at that time, but the future disciples.if we are not going to be here for the tribulation, then why did Christ pray that we are not removed?

Jesus is returning after tribulation as the Second Coming, to defeat the antichrist.
Question though, why would God leave His people here during tribulation? Part of the horror of tribulation is that the church is no longer there, so there is no good left on earth. But what I want to point out is, God has NEVER left His people when He was destroying something. He got Lot and his family out of Sodom & Gomorrah. He got Noah and his family before the flood. Why would he leave us before tribulation?

***** noah and his family weren't taken out of the world, but they were saved from Gods wrath.
lot was not taken out of the world either, but he was saved from the wrath of God.
For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
the wicked and anyone who is not in Christ will taste the full cup of Gods wrath when it is poured out,but we believers will not taste Gods wrath for we are his children.
Jesus didn't pray for us to be taken out of the world, but to be kept from the evil one and that's the same thing with noah and lot.
he old testament old speaks of two comings.the first coming is the suffering servant(isaiah 53) and the second coming is the great and terrible day of the lord(joel 2)

phantom2k10 even so, does it make sense that Christians would have to endure the trials and destruction during tribulation. why would God save His people every time He was ready to destroy something? He Saved His people and kept them from the harm of the flood in the first destruction of the world. Why would He not do the same in the second? His people didn't have to drown in the flood, why would they have to burn in the fire?

***** it makes perfect sense why we born again believers in Christ Jesus must endure trials and sometimes even desturction.
Jesus said with his own mouth we will have tribulation, will be persecuted for our faith, taken to court, beaten and even put to death.11 of the disciples were brutally killed.stoned to death, heads cut off, crucified upside down fed to lions and other ways of execution.why didn't God deliver them or rapture them up?
John 16:33New King James Version (NKJV)
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will[a] have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

I believe that we, as born-again believers, have to endure trials and destruction. However, I believe that during the actual "destruction", the final round, the end all...that believers won't be present for that. We will be "caught up" not just any day we deal with trials, but right before the 7 years. Read Revelations also. Having tribulation and "the" tribulation are different. Tribulations are simply daily trials etc. "the" tribulation is a 7 year event - that's the event Saved people (prior to the event) don't endure.

Jefferson, I can't thank you enough for posting this video!
I know a lady who has read the Left Behind series many times, and all she talks and thinks about is the rapture.
She thinks it's going to happen soon. She is one of the most hopeless people I know. All she wants is for Jesus to come back so she can go be with Him in Heaven.
That's great and all, but I like what you said in this video about how God is redeeming His world and He wants us to come alongside Him and join Him. I love that concept!!

I love this. Whether or not these arguments against the rapture are valid, it makes you think about things you hadn't bothered to think about before. Many of us accept ideas such as that of the rapture so easily, so blindly that we don't bother to separate biblical fact from church doctrine, and then determine whether or not the biblical doctrine is valid. Even though it has little to no direct impact on our individual salvation as believers.
Yeah, I grew up being taught that the rapture was how the end of the world would go down, but that doesn't mean that's the only valid side of the argument.
If all of us had instead been taught about this redemption of the world idea first and Jeff here posted a video that maybe there would be a rapture sort of thing, those who are criticizing him right now would still be reacting the same way.
Although many see this as causing division, I see it as encouraging people to truly seek answers for themselves beyond simply what they've been taught. It is amazing to see how endless the possibilities are, while also knowing that the end result is the same.

I feel like comparing God to Cesar wasn't the best way, there is only one God, and he can not be compared. I do believe in the rapture, and yes we need to concentrate on doing his work, but we shouldn't put it aside, ANYWAYS, our biggest worry should be if our name is in the book of life. God works in mysterious ways, and shouldn't be questioned, He will answer when we get to heaven.

I have to say I'm disappointed in this channel. First it was about basic love for Jesus, now it's about controversial doctrines where you talk about things one-sidedly. Personally, I think you should be careful about what you teach, there are a lot of younger people who will believe what you say without criticism.
I disagree with much about what you say in this video, to say there is no rapture would mean that God's judgement for this world described in Revelations would also affect the church. Also what do you think Luke 17:34 means if there is no rapture?

    • @Aeluinmere
      @Aeluinmere 10 ปีที่แล้ว

I am not saying this is the correct answer, I don't know, I'm not God. But this is one thought I have had recently on what the last verses of Luke 17 could be. But in either case, I say to just trust Jesus and you will be fine. No matter what it is that happens, if you are following Jesus, you'll be with Him through anything, rapture or not.
If you read Matthew 13 verses 24-30 and 36-43, Jesus clearly (so clearly that no one can argue that) says that the sons of evil will be the first to be taken from this earth when it comes to an end. Jesus himself says this.
So if you read the last verse of Luke 17, you see that the disciples ask Jesus, "Where, Lord?" Well, why would they ask where? They're asking where the person will be taken. They already know where the one that was left is. He is in the bed, or field or wherever he was.
Jesus asnwers that "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."
In some translations it says eagles instead of vultures, but in the original language, it can mean either eagles or vultures. So if you take it as vultures, and take into account what Jesus said in Matthew 13, it's quite clear. The one that is taken will be taken to a place of rot, death and decay. Because that is where vultures gather.
I repeat, this is all unclear to me too, this is just one thing I have been thinking about, trying to understand.

    • @Joke2292
      @Joke2292 10 ปีที่แล้ว

***** I agree that the most important thing is following Jesus. I don't think it's useless to talk about wether or not rapture happens or not, however I don't think this youtube channel is the right place for it, and the discussion in the comments are rarely constructive. I thank you for your answer, and I am not absolute about the "rapture doctrine", however in my opinion it fits the message given in the Bible, even if it's not really clearly explained (but few prophesies about the final days are).
What is said in Matthew is a parable, and it tells why God allows bad people to live with the good. The message is (in my opinion) not the order of the judgement, but rather that God lets the seeds grow (both the good and the bad) until the final judgement.
In Luke 17, why do you think the one taken away is sent to a place with corpses and the vultures? I think it could mean the ones that are left behind that will be gathering vultures.
I just believe that the Book of Revelations tells about God judgement over the entire earth. In Rev 7:3 God says that the judgement shall not be given before the chosen 144 000 has gotten the seal. Why would God need to choose a group in the last days if all christians where still here, we are already marked with His seal (Ephesians 1:13). Also in 2. Thessalonians Paul talks about the coming of Christ and says that the Antichrist can't come before something that withholds him is gone. In my mind (of course I can't know for sure) that could mean the church.

    • @Aeluinmere
      @Aeluinmere 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Joke2292 Exactly, this is my point when I talk to people. Both theories make sense. So I'll just follow Jesus. If I believe in the rapture and it doesn't happen, fine, I'm still with Jesus. if I don't believe in it and it really does happen, good, I'll still be with Jesus. If it happens, my being taken along with the other Christians is not dependent on if I believe in the rapture, but on if I am a follower of Jesus.
The Matthew parable. In verses 36-43 of Matthew 13 it explains the parable, and Jesus clearly says that FIRST the tares(weeds) will be gathered and then the good wheat will be gathered.
I really am not saying rapture or no rapture. but this Matthew parable would go along with what Jefferson has said in this video, how we might be taken to meet Jesus in the clouds, then the things would happen on earth, the weeds would be gotten rid of, and we are then all gathered together on the earth (maybe the new earth? I don't know). I'm probably not explaining my thoughts very well, but that would explain the parable further, and still go along with the verses about being caught up in the clouds, with it not being a rapture that takes us to heaven, but simply to meet Jesus.
I'm just speculating here, really, this doesn't mean I am adamant about this theory, I honestly don't even worry about this. Though I agree, it is interesting to discuss!
About Luke 17, my thought is why would the disciples be asking "Where, Lord?" about the people that were left behind? They were told, two are in a field, one is taken the other is left. So to me it seems quite obvious that they understand these simple words. The person was left where he already was, and they already know where that is. The field. So it seems obvious that they are asking about the one taken.
Still, I repeat, this is simply speculation. I have no idea if I agree with rapture or no rapture, but I do know that I agree with Jesus and can't wait to find out the truth about all the things that we debate here on this earth when I meet Him. :)

***** Luke 17:28-30 says "Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed." This, to me, makes it pretty clear that the ones mentioned at the end of Luke 17 that will be taken are those in Christ. The reason I say this is because Lot was taken from the the city of Sodom by the two angels in Genesis 19 before the city was destroyed (or before it underwent tribulation). Lot was taken and the rest were left behind on the receiving end of God's judgement. The context is pretty clear that when the disciples asked Christ "Where, Lord? v37) that they were referring to the one taken and he answered, "to where the eagles will be gathered".
I further deduce that "where the eagles will be gathered" just means in the air, which fully supports 1 Thes 4:17 where Paul states that we will be "caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air..." This doesn't fully dispute what Jeff was saying in his video about his position on the rapture, but I will have to say that I disagree because there are too many valid arguments for a rapture and a period of tribulation without the church that are spoken of throughout the Bible (not just Revelation, Luke, Matthew, or 1 Thess).
Hope this helps! But, you are both completely right in saying that what really matters is fully surrendering your life to Jesus Christ and faithfully following Him! That is what true religion is and although topics such as the rapture are important to discuss, they are secondary theology and shouldn't be our primary focus. God bless!

    • @Aeluinmere
      @Aeluinmere 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Jconroyunm Yes, I agree. I still don't know where I stand in my opinions on if there will be a rapture and how it will happen, but I'm not even worried about that. I know that I am with Jesus.
As I wrote, this has all been speculation on my part as well, just thoughts I have had because of Matthew 13: 24-30 and 36-43.
I think both sides have logical arguments. But there really shouldn't be sides, at least not ones that divide us. There should be just Jesus.
So I still am not adamant on what is the truth, but yes, it's always good to discuss from different points of view, to understand where both sides are coming from.

21st century readers must remember that Revelations was written to a 1st century audience, specifically, the 7 churches that are in Asia. The letter was not a mysterious puzzle for current day readers to unlock the secret meaning by looking at passages elsewhere in Scripture. Instead, Revelations would have been recognized as an apocalyptic form of literature that could be best understood by those who lived in John's time. While Revelations speaks of warnings of evil, its overarching message is that God is faithful and will prevail. I encourage anyone who is interested in this topic to read "Revelation and the End of All Things" by Craig Koester. I had to read it for a course I took in college and am eager to read through it on my own time again to get a better understanding.

Let me ask you guys who are arguing whether it will be a pre tribulation rapture ir not. Does it really matter whether it is a pre trib rapture ir not? What we Christians should focus on is to be on the right path so that we will be ready whenever Jesus comes to take us with him. It doesn't matter if it is a pre or not, as long as your relationship with God is strong. Worrying about pre rapture or not makes no sense because you should use more time getting right with God instead of thinking sbout the rapture. Me personally believes that it will be a pre tribulation rapture sinse the bible says that many christians will vanish from the world in a blink if an eye... but what i believe doesn't matter.. what does matter is for me to be ready at all times. Repenting and praying every day. God bless.

Mike...that verse you are quoting about being caught up in the air is not literal in the slightest. You completely miss the context. It's describing the ancient practice of citizens meeting their lords at the gates to welcome them back from a great victory. It fits in with the strong comparison between Caesar and Jesus through out the bible. It was the custom in ancient times for a cities citizens to all gather at the gates to welcome a returning lord from a great victory. Another name Caesar's went by was "son of man" when Jesus comes into the story he is called Son of Man as a way of saying he is the true king...and he arrives like any lord would...with his citizens awaiting at the gates for him to return from a great victory.

Matthew is from Matthew's point of view, his testimonial to what happened. In Luke 17, the same things are being said, simply recalled by Luke not Matthew, and each of them tell different details of the conversation, so together, you get the whole picture.
I am not saying this is the correct answer, I don't know, I'm not God. But this is one thought I have had recently on what the last verses of Luke 17 (meaning also the verses you mentioned in Matthew) could be. So if you read the last verse of Luke 17 it is the continuing of the same conversation with Jesus in Matthew 24. You see that the disciples ask Jesus, "Where, Lord?" Well, why would they ask where? They're asking where the person will be taken. They already know where the one that was left is. He is in the bed, or field or wherever he was left.

Personally this is a topic of low necessity, yet high in controversy amongst Christians. I personally believe in the return of Christ, but I know nothing of how it will happen...I am not God. For all the Christ followers who read this, I'm sure there will be others who take offense to this message Jeff put out, and I in no way look to disprove his theory, but understand this is one of those topics best left between you and God. No one will know until that day comes. As I do very much believe Jeff and have the utmost respect for his teaching, I think this was a poor topic to be one sided about. We can review what the Bible quotes but nothing is exact enough to make the call as to yes or no to the rapture. Topics like this if not discussed with a mature Christian can result in a very heated conflict. Jeff and all others I'm only saying this topic should have been more of a discussion rather than a yes or no answer.

something my father said was there are four beliefs in the tribulation. Pre-Trib (we will be Raptured before Satan's rule), Mid-Trib (we will be Raptured during Satan's rule, Post-Trib (We will be Raptured after Satan's rule) and Pan-Trib (It''ll all work out in the end according to God's plan). I believe in the last one. We don't Know his plan, but it will come out when the time comes. Until then we have to trust in Him and know He is God. This video made me think. I would like for you to read Matthew 27:50-54. There was an earthquake that was so great it broke the temple in two... Graves burst open, and the firstfruits( saints) which were asleep already , rose up in thier bodies came out of the graves after His resurrection, and many were seen in Jerusalem because they went into the holy city and appeared to many. All for the glory of God and for those who at that time had heard Jesus words, but did not believe, a miracle from God was manifest, and so according to scripture the firstfruits from revelations that were to rise first after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, are with him, and so as Paul is explaining to the Thessalonians, God will bring with him " them also which sleep in Jesus," and. We which are alive and remain shall not prevent them which are asleep, These are words of comfort, but the saints 144,000 spoken of in revelations have resurrected with Christ, already.

Hey Jeff, I want to commend you on producing this video. It really is great to hear someone in popular media expressing ideas like this, which honestly, I think a lot of people actually do think to be true, but are extremely afraid of being condemned and mobbed by 'common Christianity' to actually take the time to articulate it in a clear and concise way like you did here (seriously, that you managed to explain it that clearly in 7 minutes is amazing!).
And it is sad to read through the comments here (I had to stop after a short while); because there are so many different and interesting opinions in regards to theology and about who God is and what he is doing that we should at least be open enough to hear the ideas, interact with them and come to place where we feel comfortable to stand in the love of Christ while still respectfully loving all those who have gone through the same process, even though they may stand on a different pillar than we do.
So again thanks so much, your content was a great encouragement to me. Keep up the great work and look forward to the day we get to stand at the gate and welcome the king upon his victorious return.

Hi Jeff, I appreciate what you do, so thank you. I would have to agree to disagree with you on the issue of the rapture. It seems like you are arguing against rapture by using the straw hat fallacy (by using hypothetical situations such as people hiding until the rapture comes or angels floating in the sky and it doesn't make you feel comfortable). I did watch the video, but i feel like your argument is weak. I would appreciate if you could argue more thoroughly from Scripture (perhaps your video may be better if you could show us the passage on the screen and give an exegetical insight, verse by verse) as why you don't believe in the rapture instead using hypothetical examples like angles floating in the sky. Maybe compare your argument (against the rapture) and what others (like John MacArthur) argue (for the rapture). Anyways, as always, thank you for reading this. Peace out.

I would also like to add that his linking to Gnosticism is completely false and is attacking the Bible itself.
If you follow Mr. Bethke: I'm not doubting Mr. Bethke's intentions, but his theology is bad. Please, listen to reformed theologians who actually go to the Bible for their theology.
      I highly recommend:
      - John MacArthur (which you've mentioned)
      - Paul Washer
      - Steve Lawson
      - James White
      Thank you.

2Peter 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,"
That's the wrath of God. Poured out upon the whole world. It goes on . . .
2Peter 3:12 ". . . wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"
It logically follows therfore that the great tribulation, which Jesus described in detail, must happen BERFORE the Wrath of God is poured out.
Mathew 24:21-22 "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."
Notice this is a season. A period of time, which is shortened for the elect's sake, so they must logically be there.
Then, to clarify the order of events, Jesus says . . .
Mathew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:"
THEN Jesus returns. On THAT day.
Mathew 24:30 "And THEN shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
The rest of this chapter ties in neatly to where we begun, with 2Peter 3:10, and explains who Peter was talking about being caught unawares, and the context.
Indeed, we are encouraged NOT to be caught unawares in Luke 21:34 and elsewhere. "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares."
In fact, an honest look at 2 Peter will see him stirring us up to be mindful of these things, that we will NOT be caught unawares. I've heard people quoting verse ten in isolation as though it shows Christians will be suddenly and unexpectedly spirited away. It does not. It exhorts us not to be caught unawares.
It is a pleasure to share the exploration of the word with you Marquez. May the word dwell in you richly.

Really interesting perspective, Jeff! I can't say that I completely agree, but it was very interesting to hear. I'm curious to know how you factor in the prophesied judgements, wars, and the rule of antichrist in revelation and Daniel and Ezekiel, and with the earth's elements melting with fervent heat in peter leading to that new heaven coming down to a new earth? Thanks! (This is a genuine interest btw, not trying to start any debates or anything)

He is using the Bible in its historical context to figure out the best explanation of what will happen in the end times. This was a very simple, easy to understand explanation, and if you couldn't follow, that tells me you don't have a grasp of basic theology or biblical knowledge. I am NOT saying that means he's right. But, if you found this difficult to understand, it means you probably are not well informed on the topic, and should learn more about it before criticizing it.

MakeYourMovieHappenX actually I do not think he existed :) and everything set up with christianity was just a tool to control the disidence in Jerusalem at that time and further the control of the human stocks in Europe later on.

      @alexgoeshollywood 8 ปีที่แล้ว

J Ru I didn't say Jesus did not exist. Actually I'm pretty sure he did. I believe in Jesus, but not what they made out of him with religion. The way christianity was used to control people and lead wars over earthly egoistic objectives was just wrong.
Also the bible is full of paradoxes, e.g. the thing with the free will. Why did god give it to us in the first place, if he knew we would disobey, which would make him angry.
I am pretty sure Jesus had another picture of god.

So they had to put a believer and a non-believer as pilot and co-pilot.

This guys contextual interpretation isn't fully accurate . Pieces are correct but not all. even reading the first verses in revelations 21 as he himself mentions debunks the majority of what he says in the video. And in Thessalonians Paul's language isn't imperial as he says. I encourage you all to read those scriptures yourself. Instead of trying to make sense of things we don't fully understand or the mysteries of God. Causing confusion.Let's rejoice about the second coming and find encouragement in that. It will all make sense when it happens.

So before I start, I just wanted to say that I'm glad this is something you addressed. Not a lot of people have the guts to talk about the end times, so I'm really glad you're trying to help people get the full picture of the Grace of God. I'm also glad that you used your interpretation of scripture to back up what you believe. At the end of the day, Revelation is a book of prophecy, and it's difficult to fully comprehend unless you reference it back to the rest of the bible. That being said, I do disagree a bit with what you said.
First off, the way I interpreted it is that it's Rapture and then pestilence. The reason I say this is the same because of 1 Thessalonians 4. In verses 15-17, he talks about how we're going to be brought up with Jesus and stuff, and then in verse 18, he says, "Wherefore comfort one another with these words" (KJV) Well why should we be comforted? If you keep reading to chapter 5, in the first verse Paul says, "But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you." then Paul continues to write about the Pestilence. The reason why he doesn't need to write it to us is that we're not gonna be around for the pestilence.
Also, in Matthew 24, the disciples ask Jesus directly about the end times (verse 3). Then Jesus goes on to talk about the Pestilence and how you should run to the hills. But what's important is in verse 20 when he says "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day" The reason why he mentioned the sabbath is because you're not supposed to do work or travel on the sabbath. The religious people started messing around with the law and I think by the end of it you're allowed to walk 6,000 cubits, but if you can't find shelter within those 6000 cubits, you're kinda screwed haha. But the thing is that doesn't apply to us. As Christians, we don't hold the Sabbath and the laws. So Jesus was referring to that happening to the Jews.
Last point i want to make is that in Revelations 1, John talks about seeing Jesus come down to earth. Then the all the letters to the church's are referenced and then in chapter 4:1-2, it says After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. After chapter 4 of Revelations is the pestilence, and John was called up to heaven for that because he's not going to be present on earth during that because he's found in salvation in his faith in Jesus. I do agree that heaven and earth are united again as one, but that occurs after Revelations talks about the pestilence and birth pains.
There are other parts of scripture in Daniel and Isaiah that also refer to the end times, but I wanted to keep this somewhat short haha. Again this is how I interpreted the word and maybe some of these verses make you think a little bit differently about how this works.
Anyways, love what you've been doing with this channel man! God's really been using you to impact a lot of people and I'm glad to see a brother who's on fire for good do his thing. Much love Jeff!
    Your brother,
    Shawn

I think something important to be noted as well, regarding Paul and 1st Thessalonians is this is the first letter we have from Paul, and the community he's writing to has been asking him questions about life after death and Jesus' return, most likely because people are dying or have died and they don't know what to do or what is going to happen next. Paul is still developing his ideas at this point in time and is simply answering questions to the best of his ability. Both Paul and the community believe Jesus is coming back very very soon, and he's also responding to the fact that they aren't doing anything with their lives in the mean time, which gives much bases to his response and advice to them. However Paul does develop his theology to its fullest point by the time he writes Romans, and I think Jeff has divulged and explained this wisely, all in the context of Rapture theology and things of that nature.

I love this video as much as I love all of your other videos. My boyfriend and I were discussing this topic last week because I have some fear about the end times. However, this was such great news! I really admire you and your willingness to speak truth even if it means that you will lose subscribers and possibly risk your fame on TH-cam. I see lots of people saying that they wish you would stick to the not-so-controversial topics, but I disagree. I'd say that the Gospel is controversial all the way around. Being a Christian is pretty controversial and Jesus was/is pretty controversial don't you think? Encountering controversial topics are inevitable, and it's still our job as followers of Christ to talk about them and discuss them. They're important. They're controversial for a reason. It's wonderful to ask questions and challenge ideas. I love this new perspective and I am grateful for this video.

I haven't arrived on a stance about this subject yet and I'm not sure I ever will, I remain open about it. Just like the day our Lord returns is a mystery, I believe that what exactly will happen is veiled to us to a degree. Having a hard stance on how it's going to go is your prerogative but the body of Christ has too many dividing encampments in it already. This is one of those subjects we don't have to be dogmatic about. I will say that aside from fictional writings that depict the rapture as our spirits leaving our body is only one interpretation. Another is that our physical bodies will rise as Jesus' physical body rose, which is not a gnostic thought. Whenever there is a hot button topic like this and you mix all opposing schools of interpretation into one it just shows a certain lack of humility and a stubbornness to your stance. That being said I know you are a true brother in Christ and love that God is using you mightily and this doesn't diminish that.
