- Hot Wheels Evil Weevil Redline - This old 1971 Hot Wheels Spoilers Series Evil Weevil had a lot of problems when I received it…but I’ve tried to fix them and make some interesting choices, such as trying to create a rattle can candy apple red. Even the Master deals with Murphy's Law. Nice to see you patiently restoring and explaining and detailing the correct tool to use. Came out GREAT even with the sticker looking decals. 😆

That was an impressive transformation, Jim. There were obviously a lot of obstacles to overcome, but for me, it's great to see a damaged old casting put back into circulation. I pretty much buy only junkyard lots, so I’ve seen my share of this type of car…. the previously “restored“. And by restored, I mean destroyed 🤣. This one turned out great. Good job Jim!

It's a pretty cool casting, turned out really nice. I like this color, if you'd used silver under the red, it might've been too bright, but this is perfect. 😎👍

I think it turned out great! I'm not big on the Hot Wheels gimmicks like this one, but I don't think you could have done anything more to improve it than you did right here. You actually made this look GOOD to me, and that's saying quite a bit. I was not a fan of the base or the double engine thing, but you made a believer out of me. It's that great paint job with the nifty decals and new redlines. It brought it all together for me.
Thanks Loston! I know exactly what you mean about the gimmicks…and likewise, I rarely like such a double engine casting…but there’s just something about this darn little VW that I’ve always liked. I’ve always been a sucker for a Bug, so that could be it. I’m really glad I could win you over on this little casting!

That's lovely - I wanted one of these for a long time, and it cost me a stupid amount of money for a single car by the time it was here in the UK. I thought it was a modified version of the Custom Volkswagen but they are quite different

A lot of the 70 and 71 cars had casting issues with the metal itself. I remember an ice-t crumbling in my hands about 10 minutes after getting it.
Oh yeah, the crumblers as they’re affectionately known as you said, would crumble away on you. I can only imagine how frustrating that must have been.
