Great restomod on yet another new casting for me. Never seen the Flame Out before, but it sure fits the World Service Day theme. I think the wheels made the biggest difference on this one. Fantastic work, Jim. You can be very proud of this project! Thanks for participating in another FH build. You old Blind Mice guys are everywhere! 🍁☕😀
Thanks so much Andrew! I almost went with replacement JL type wheels...but it just needed something more, so I went with these and liked the look -- I'm really happy to hear you think they made the biggest difference on it. Hope you and Petra have a great weekend! (P.S. - I'm hoping to make the Canada Day build...but I keep hitting little obstacles -- it's crazy saying this so far in advance, but I might be late to the show lol)
Gotta love those older JLs. Nice job on the resto-mod. Like those Real Riders. Thanks for joining in on this build. Would you call this a Fire engine, engine, engine? 😅
I noticed we mixed diecast company parts, and I enjoy the enhancements! Thank you for showing us the exhaust repair technique. I couldn't see the cracks on my screen, and I'm glad you noticed and taught us when to find them and when to handle them (before paint and assembly rather than after) I never noticed the bell in the front before, and I think going gold or brass makes that detail a highlight. A ringing goat is always a highlight! Have fun with your toys!
Thanks David! That bell on the front just seems to disappear into the stock casting...and as it doesn't have a lot of detail in the first place, I just had to bring it out.
Love watching your videos Jim, your laugh makes me smile, I'm 59 yrs old and due to tremors in my hands and arms I can't participate in the hobby I still enjoy, thankyou again
Thanks Mike! The casting was in real need of a wheel swap - the standard selection just didn't flatter the look at all. (Oh, thanks again for that darn soap car - that video has finally slowed down on the views a little lol)
Thanks Keith! You really should get into those JL's - the old Topper ones especially are just odd little castings. I have a bunch of crapped out ones still to tackle when I get a chance...and some are definitely getting the Wastelands treatment lol

Great work as always.
I have this casting.
I really like this car .
The wheels are gorgeous.
WOW !!!
Mike .

😂😂
So neat!
Thanks!
Nicely done, Jim.
Those wheels are so good!
Thanks Uri! I'm really happy with the wheel change too - it looks more 'realistic" than the JL wheels.
Interesting casting, that one. and great result, too, love the wheels, too. you were right, they look so much better. :D
Thanks! Those original wheels just didn't help the casting at all.
This came out awesome! Makes me want to dig through my collection of JL's and resto one or two(with my own take on them). Great job!
Thanks Keith! You really should get into those JL's - the old Topper ones especially are just odd little castings. I have a bunch of crapped out ones still to tackle when I get a chance...and some are definitely getting the Wastelands treatment lol
