- Welcome to my quick video on how to install an aftermarket ambient light kit. This is a full kit containing wiring loom, centre console and door card lights. This is not overly complicated but is time consuming at around 3 to 4 hours. Please like and subscribe. Hey quick question, just ordered my kit from DMP. I was wondering when you were doing your installation, did you connect the OBD cable first or after everything else was installed? Also, did you disconnect the car battery before beginning your installation? Side Note: I believe you're the only TH-camr (that I have found) to actually show how to install the controller for new kit... everyone else documented the kit that's controlled via the volume buttons, thank you for that!
No dramas. I didn't disconect the battery but obviously safety first or third lol. I did connect the obd socket first but you could do it either way. It helps to see as you go along if it's wired correctly.
I installed the 12.3in Android screen and didn't disconnect the battery. Really isn't any need. It's all low amp and voltage stuff and if you did short something that's what the fuse box is for :)
@@donsmy1437 I agree. There is no cutting of wires and the kit is plug and play so you shouldn't really go wrong.
I’ve ordered the DMP kit for my 2021 C300.
How long did it take to get the kit delivered?
Less than a week normally

It was a little newer version.
DMP sent me a video link and it was very helpful
They responded promptly.
My version actually had some pin connector that I installed in each door.
Once I got the pins seated correctly, the lights did come on.
Just got around to installing the kit. It turns out they changed it again and now dmp sends the ambient kit with a dongle that you connect to the obd port which will activate the orginal ambient light settings on the vehicle. Has anyone installed this version of the kit yet using the dongle? How was your experience? Haven’t done it yet because im a little hesitant 😅
That's definitly a step forward. It should be as simple as plug into obd port then car ignition on and it should load automatically. I used to have a dongle to unlock video inmotion and aux port when doing android conversions.
DMP should just do the App Controlled kit like they did on the W204
This new kit only has 2 door control boxes and the main ‘fused’ control harness has a ground c shaped connector and a red hot wire.
Any ideas for an installation guide for this newer version?
Can you tell me how does the side mirror controsl work to control the ambient light. Are there any issues like flickering or so with the ambient light kit
I have had both style of kits on my cars.
Controlled by either the steering wheel or side mirror controls. I have never had any issues with flickering, even under heavy load such as air con on, stereo on and charging my phone at the same time.
To control lights using side mirrors control is simple. Without selecting a side mirror. Just use the control pad move it up and down for brightness and left and right to select colour. I tend to leave it on the purple as it like the look. Although it has 64 colour options.

@@nizarsherfodien8274 that's who I have used. Their customer service is excellent.
@@nizarsherfodien8274 any issues on their website let me know I can explain what you need to select as there are alot of options. Also I would suggest you get a good quality glue gun for the door trims as I found its the easiest option. I initial tried plastic welding but it was hit and miss.

Do your ambient light go on when you turn the ignition on or not, and when you turn the car off after how many seconds does your ambient lights turn off
It turns on when you unlock the car and turns off once the car is locked. The same as factory.
Mine turns off 45 seconds after I lock the car is that normal. My lights turn off 15 seconds after I lock the car, as set in lighting feature to turnoff 15 seconds
The driver door turns off first then the oher doors 1 second later
@@lanco32 as my lights are an after market retrofit addon they all go off when I lock the car. Yours sound as tho they are factory. In this case all the controls and timings can be adjusted through the system settings on your headunit.
Hi, can I ask an off topic question, I have a C350e non AMG W205 and have ordered a C300de AMG rear bumper. I am aware that all AMG front and rear bumpers are interchangeable with non AMGs except for the C63 bumpers. I just want to make sure that the charging port is located in the same spot. From pictures it looks like it is but want to get a definitive answer if you know. Thanks
Yes although the bumpers are slightly different in shape with the vents and longer diffuser on the amg line. The charge port still sits at the rear on the right hand side.

Great video can I add this to a base c300 ?? What would I need to run it ?
If your base vehicle has no lights then the complete kit as per what I installed. There are options for dash trim, speakers and vent lights and rear seat lights. It plugs into the obd2 port for power and programming.
If your vehicle has the basic 3 light ambient lighting then you can just buy the wiring loom and new leds in a kit to upgrade to 64 colours.

Did you need to add any pins to the door apart from the connectors?
The harness is plug and play. No need for any extra wiring.

@nattfam64 yes the kit comes with all 4 doors, centre console and footwells. The link should be in the description.
Hi question, if your mercedes doesnt have the standart ambient programmed in, how does it go off and on then?
The kit either adjusts through your steering wheel by holding the back button and using up and down arrow to change brightness or left and right to filter through colours.
Or it will be controlled through your wing mirror adjusters in the same Manor. Holding a button down while either pushing left and right up and down.
I have installed 3 kits into my various mercedes. 2 controlled through steering wheel and 1 through mirror control.
I’ve installed the odb and the center console and the driver door and it still won’t come on also they sent this little box that looks like it plugs into one but it doesn’t fit

@@mvautomotive7092 got it working with the help of DMP coding the ambient light into my settings which is awesome I can control the lights with the factory settings on the screen

Are you going to install amg front and rear bumper?
I have the c63 rear diffuser and quad exhausts ready to be fitted i just need to find time between work. I also have a black amg style front splitter waiting to be fitted both for standard bumpers.
Do you ever come to the states wish u could install mines... I have a 2017 c300 coupe
