  • Actually surprised myself that it started with two year old fuel.... Though it does seem to be a bit heavy on the oil...

    Are they any good?? I have the motor and body of one and was thinking to recycle it and use the aluminium for casting.. but now that I see all the people that take such a good care and it is so old, I'm having second thoughts!! Hope to find some one that need parts or can rebuild it in stead of destroying a good antique piece of machinery!!

    Not too bad.Some of these older ones might need some TLC,a new part or two.maybe even a rebuild.But take care of them & they will serve you very well for many more years.

    I was given one of these a few years back... just fired it up to cut a tree and the pull cord broke. I was told the spring was a pain in the ass, and it is. But I managed to get it in with needle nose pliers and patience. :)
    It's a nice little saw.

    Runs great but pretty dull chain. You should sharpen it.You should put some new gas oil mix in too.

    • @general0ne
      @general0ne  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that is DEFINITELY on the list for next season. I have four chains for this saw, sadly, this was the shaprest one o.O so I'll be probably be taking them to get sharpened, though sharpening a chainsaw would be a good video. I ran all the 2+year old fuel mix out of it making this vid, so fresh fuel will be a definite the next time I use it.

    • @shartne
      @shartne 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      general0ne I bought a hand sharpening tool with a gauge on it. It works and it makes them really sharp. Its just a round file to match the chain and has a flat metal gauge with the angles marked on it. Works good. That saw works good. When you get a new gas oil mix in, it will probably just take off.

    • @general0ne
      @general0ne  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may look into getting one of those. It is a good runner. Fairly low hours on it, as well.

  • @eddyquick
    @eddyquick 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have one of these ... I bought it in '72. If you sharpen that blade then it will go through that stuff like butter. Don't forget to keep chain saw oil in the reservoir. It will run out of oil before it runs out of gas.

    • @general0ne
      @general0ne  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably since this saw doesn't have a muffler. It's a straight exhaust with only a single cover that I had installed from another saw. This thing is LOUD.

    If He was To Put A New Chain On It Dump Out The Old Fuel Change The Spark plug On The Mac 6 Chainsaw. Put Diesel Fuel In It And Also 50 Cans Of Seafoam So It would Smoke Tons Of Blue Smoke For Miles Away And If It's Windy The Smoke Will Blow For At least 5 Miles Away He Can Cut Monster Logs Old Wood Build Houses And Cut 50 Sheets Of Plywood And Doors.

  • @Alex-mt6fe

    Gotta love the smoldering wood after the attempted cuts.

    • @general0ne
      @general0ne  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually the exhaust causing the smoke, but you have to admit, it would be pretty cool, cut your firewood and start your campfire all in one go!

    I would say, 1. Is the chain the right way round because even a blunt chain should do better than that! 2. Please, please work on your technique as I saw several potential kickbacks there. 3. Protective equipment. Eye cover, helmet and chaps. Even with glasses, chips can go anywhere and you want a helmet in case of aforementioned kickback. 4. Are you running the correct petrol/oil ratio, that things smoking like a bitch!

    • @general0ne
      @general0ne  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the chain was on the right way, but was (is) totally shot. The chain and bar were from a trash picked saw, and were only used for the video because it was a roller bar, vs non roller for the original Mac bar, which was worn so bad it would bind regardless of the chain tension or amount of oil. The fuel mix was not correct, I'm sure, and was over a year old. I've only used the saw twice, once prior, and when making this video. I agree my technique needs work.

    • @adamoneale4396
      @adamoneale4396 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@general0ne fair one, thanks for quick reply. Fair enough on bar, chain and fuel. Main thing on technique is where you stick your tip (wahey xD) obviously the saw runs top to bottom and if it catches anything it's gonna want to climb up it and fling the saw at your face which can give you a bit of a headache. Also if it catches the ground its gonna fling high velocity debris at you as well as blunt the chain
