Just a heads up about camping under those high voltage transmission lines: Last year while in Moab, I was camped in an adjacent lot to an RV park. No hookups. While leveling my Class C, upon opening the driver’s side door to get to the automatic levelers, I felt like my fingers had touched an area on the doorknob that felt like metal burrs. It didn’t make sense, so I reached for the doorknob again. I realized I was getting an electrical shock. At the same time, I was holding a metal rod that I use to situate boards under tires if I have a lot of leveling to do, and it was touching the ground. I dropped the rod, then touched the doorknob and no sensation. I was happy about that, but also baffled. My first thought was ‘did I have a hot skin’. Then remembered I was not plugged in to shore power and didn’t even have the inverter on at that point, so it couldn’t be that. No other problems during my 5 day stay. When I got ready to leave, as I approached my toad to hook up, I touched the rear bumper of the RV and got that tingle again. Had to use gloves to get it hooked up. Everything was operating OK, so decided to continue my journey to Congress, AZ, where I could get it checked out. Upon arrival there, no problem at all. So I started investigating. Turns out, those transmissions lines, which can carry upwards of 650kV, can magnetically couple to an RV., causing from a few hundred to several thousand volts. The good side of this is the current is very low, maybe 1mA, so it isn’t dangerous, but sure is uncomfortable. The larger the RV, the more voltage it will develop. Just don’t ground yourself if you want to avoid that sting. I don’t plan to ever camp under those lines again.
My wife and I fulled time for six years and went to Quartzite for January 2003. Great time sightseeing and playing games with friends.
Russ, you’ll never know how much you’re loved and appreciated for your spectacular drone shots and your soothing narration. Watching your channel makes my entire day better. Thank you again ❤️
Always enjoy watching your return to Quartzsite. Jerry and I stayed one winter in our RV and made some wonderful memories. Jerry passed away a year ago and so I'm living with my grandchildren now. Quartzsite still bring back so many happy memories for me. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Granny Hope all is well
Hi Russ. I never get tired of your spectacular drone shots of the the surrounding terrain. What I find so special of the distant views of Arizona is the craggy mountain horizon. Here in Australia we have nothing like that. If distant mountains are visible they're low and smooth. Geologically worn down.
Many thanks
I went out there a few weeks ago and they were working on the power lines in that area. Pretty cool to see helicopters lifting components to those power towers. Elevation is above Quartzite and just high enough to get a lot of chollas and saguaros - really beautiful.
The desert has my heart
Just discovered your RVerTV and love the program you produce. Thank you for letting my 77 year old bran also wanderlust...even if in my mind.
I travel from Illinois to Bouse most winters to rockhound along Plomosa Rd. Folks used to live in Bouse several years ago and I first came out to visit in 1997. My Mom was an avid rockhound and loved the area. They're gone but I still love to continue Mom's passion for rockhounding alive. I visit Quartzsite a time or two during the Rock & Gem show, but get gas, groceries, etc. in Parker, as it's cheaper there. Always enjoy your videos of this area, Russ.
The sky was absolutely beautiful that day.. desert is getting right temp for all the fall tourists
I'm happy you got back to Quartzsite safety. I really enjoyed your summer trip with all the museums and the great drone shots. Looking forward to the next video.
HEY,HEY, RVerTV ,Russ showing us the "New" in Quartzsite . Thanks, Russ ❤👍
I always wondered what Quartzsite looked like. That was a real bird's eye view... very cool.
You sound to me like a laid-back Canadian fella. I like the looks of the game store, I've wondered about Quartzite for years having stopped and looked around there in the early 2000's. There was the remains of an airport runway for light planes parallel to the interstate back then - I guess it used to be 'Fly In' too at one time. Quartzite in the winter is said to be a giant swap meet in many ways, the "Alice's Restaurant" of souvenirs, gadgets, and old collectibles including interesting Cars from back when. (they age well in the desert)
I think you’re the number one Quartzsite ambassador. Thanks for the preview.
Thank you for the update in Quartzsite. Those drone shots really give a great view of the area. I really enjoy seeing it from the air.I am looking forward to seeing the new RV park at Ehrenberg.
Glad you enjoyed it
I LOVED THIS VIDEO from beginning to end. Going to watch it again. You have such a smooth voice. You drone control is excellent. Thank you for ALL the effort you put into your videos.
Hello Russ! Glad to have you back home. Looking forward to you taking us for a ride in the 'ole Dusty Nugget to explore the desert. Gonna be fun to watch how Quartzsite will come to life.
Hi Russ, greetings from England, always a pleasure to see your big blue skies. 🇺🇸🌵🏴
sorry, EV charging station is not progress.
it's something else.
probably diesel generators
Back in the 80s my work brought me through Quartzsite time to time. I remember a tumbleweed.
Did the 95 from Vegas (home 17 yrs.) for the Blythe Bluegrass Festival several times. Watching your "Back in Arizona" and this one from my recliner home in Kentucky. Seriously felt like I was behind the wheel of the Ford Transit. We reminisced over the many stops. Good you did it before the crowds moved in for the Winter. Thanks for the recording. Easy drive this time from the recliner. Great stuff.
Always good to be back home. Glad you had another safe trip this year. Always a few setbacks, but I'm sure the town will honor you again by having a place in the parade as they did last year. Getting ready for N E Ohio weather. Brrrrr🥶🥶 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
I love your drives around Quartzite.
I love Quartzsite! I hope to stay longer this Fall and Winter. Thanks for sharing this awesome tour.
Russ! It’s so glad to see your videos again! Just came back from a 3 mos across the country..in our RV! Wearing your shirts, and of course..the adult coloring book! Our kids love you too! Time to catch up on your videos!.. Hugs and high fives from the family in Florida!! 😊
thank you
Thank you!
First RVerTV quartzite videos is the unofficial start to the winter season for me. We hope to get there this winter.
Thanks for the tour, Russ. When go see your catus you should always bring a bucket of water for him 🙂
Good idea!
When I quit school in 67. I worked for a company building those grids . Some of them have large lines under them . They are big .
Glad to see you back at Quartzsite. The crowds are about to roll in thank you stay safe ALL.
Russ, I really do envy you, traveling all around, all the time like that, visiting all those places. I went twice this year to Los Algodones after seeing one of your videos about that place. From Utah, at this time. So I went thru' Quartzsite and all around these areas. I have been out that way before when I lived in Los Angeles.
God Bless , United States America, Russ, RVerTV Fans. WE LOVE RVerTV - Grand Journey Thru U.S.A. - Grand Videos - Grand Music. I have watched RVerTV - July.2. 2019 - I enjoy RVerTV . HAPPY TRAILS - U.S.A. - Russ - RVerTV Fans. Thank you Russ.🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠
There is nothing sweeter than listening to the theme song when fall hits.
Thank you for another tour of the Quartzite area. I have watched so many of your videos over the last couple of years that I don’t think that I would get lost.
Very nice tour. Glad the cactus survives the summer heat. Desert is beautiful but I have trouble surviving the heat. Take care.😊
Thank you! You too!
I’m so thankful for your Quartzsite updates and info 🙏🏻 looks like I’m finally headed there this winter Yay ! ❤
Welcome back Russ 👋
I would love to hear from Q natives, folks that live there year round. In my opinion they are the true pioneers because they’ve learned how to survive the heat, must be some interesting stories there! ❤
Yay! Back home at the Q. Glad you made it home safe. Nice to come home and see a few new things, and the familiar. Great drone footage. 🙂👍
"I love the desert." 100% agree with you!!!
Glad you had a safe trip this year! Enjoyed all your summer travels and am looking forward to next year
Thank you Russ
I like how you keep it positive no matter what. 🥰
Looking forward to getting back to Quartzsite this winter, always a good time.
Thanks for getting us in the mood.
Several years ago my wife and I were on our way from LA to Phoenix to visit relatives when our Chevy Malibu broke down. The people in Quartzite were wonderful; they could have taken advantage but went out of their way to get the needed parts and put the car back on the road. Several of us kept in contact for many years afterward. We stayed at the Yacht Club for a couple of days longer. It is still there 30 years later. Lovely memories there.
... nice lap around Q-town thanks Russ ..!
Great content Russ, awesome drone shots. Maybe in a future video you can showcase where Quartzsite gets there water from and how the town disposes of its sewer waste water.....
I just love the drone shots. As always thanks for sharing.
I’ve driven through on I-10 , its beautiful, looking like the new transmission line is following interstate so that’s not to bad . They got to do it.
Glad to see you back in Quartzite. I enjoyed all your travels all summer. Tks for all you do. 👍
Russ, thanks for sharing the ride ✌️💗🎼🎶🎵
I too love the desert ❤️ it’s beautiful
Thanks for all you do.
Thank you SIR for such a great tour around Quartzite ~
You always have such a great easy going feeling w/ your commentary & excellent drone footage . You have a way to make it all look good AND inviting to any who care to visit the area 🌵was happy to see the Big Cactus survived the summer 🔥🌞
That was FUN. Really enjoyed the view.
Wow! This is great! I lived in Quartzite back in 1975…….there as Nothing out there at that time. I worked at Anna’s Cafe as a server, and the Stagecoach as a dish washer when it was just a restaurant!!I loved my life back then! I mean I’m doing great now! But I love that desert, grew up there🥰💐
I lived at the 88 shades trailer park! There were no stop lights, just one stop sign coming up 95 from Yuma. There was an old timer then that taught me silver work🤓 good times💙
Yup!😄😄hi jolly was there as well💐
Wow great video 👍. Made me feel like I was there. Thanks for the sharing this video with us
Love the desert!!
A tremendous video thanks!
Good to see more new transmission lines. Will help with reliability!
Cool look to see what's up in the Q for this season. The drone shots were the best. We'll be back in January for all the excitement.
Thanks Russ! Great video
You bet
I always enjoy your videos Russ
Thank you for the tour I really enjoyed this. 😊
Welcome home🌵🌵
Is very good video. I found my new place to visit in the winter
Welcome home! 80 degrees
Hi Russ. Thank you for sharing. God Bless 🙏
Love your videos
Man o man, am I happy that we got too old for this! Hate change! We lived in Parker for 16 years (in the winter) that was when it was good! Too much change for me!
Love your channel Russ!
Been enjoying the Arizona small town stops.
Thanks partner!
God bless!
🙏🏼
:D
Another year in our favorite spot. I'll just watch from my warm bed you go run around for me
I always enjoy a run around the old town. Kind of where it all started. It's funny I've been driving a Tesla for over four years now basically just purchased it for the performance :-) it's an awesome car around town but kind of a pain in the behind on a road trip. When we first purchased it we had three years of free supercharging which made it very worth the time.
Nice video. Your demeanor is well taken. A well spoken historian. Thank you!
Thanks for the update on the Q🤗
Great to see that you're back in the Q. Glad to see the cactus is still standing!😎
Thanks Russ
Thank you Russ for this tour. The wife and I are Pulling our 36 ft. 5th wheel to Florida from central Ca. in mid January. We plan on checking Quartzsite out on the way over. Really looking forward to seeing some of these things. Thank you again, hope you have continued safe travels.
I hope you have safe joyous travel.
Welcome back
Very nice tour ! Thank You
I lived year around for 4 years. I loved it there. Even the heat. I do miss being there
Excellent video Russ 👍
RV Lifestyles started selling propane last year--easier to get into than Patty's and about the same price, maybe a little lower. Not sure what it will be this year. Thanks for the updates to the area.
Awesome video buddy well done 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
Hi Russ enjoyed this video thanks for sharing 🤗.
I stopped at a gas station near Quartzsite last November, to get coffee. I was traveling I-10 to Joshua Tree National Park
THANKS!
You're welcome!
Glad I had the time to watch the entire Vid After Work for my weekend. I drove through there Once I-10 West then North to Parker. Thought it was a one horse town. Amazing how much is out actually out there that you can't see from the highway. Make no mistake about it my east coast peeps. This is open desert with serious weather condtion's year round.
Awesome video Russ ~!
Your tone is very cool and relaxing
Heading to Quartzite on Monday from Tucson. Cannot wait to see what’s going on
Thanks for the tour. The last time I saw Hi Jolly's pyramid was in 1971.
I was a newly minted Border patrol agent stationed in Yuma.
We used to stop every car that came North from Yuma, after midnight.
We drove up to Quartzite. There were a few trailers, and two stores.
Years ago when I was trucking there was nothing there. It’s amazing how much it has grown! There was a Texaco and McDonald’s. Our deliveries were in California. It was my favorite place to stop.
Glad you rode by the big flag..the slight wind was just right
Hi Russ, I'm glad you had a safe summer travel experience. Really enjoy your road trips. I envy you to be able to go explore so many sites. I feel like I'm on vacation watching your videos. Those clouds in this video are interesting not puffy but just lines of clouds. Last week on my way to TN to visit family, a stone hit my windshield , luckily I don't have to wait 3 weeks to get replaced. It's the 1st time in all my years of driving that this has happened. Must be the year to replace windows.
Looking forward seeing your next travels. Stay safe
Must be jinxed. I spoke too soon. After trying 2 windshields, which both had scratches , now waiting for a 3rd window for my car. Guess I have same problem as you had with your window
Homeless rocks.
Great shots.
"..😎.."
Create!
I hope to make it back out to Quartzsite towards the end of winter. It would be nice if I could make it for the RV show with the big tent that would be fun. Still not retired Work comes first. Errr!!!
Nice
Hey Guy..
What a shocker - haven't been to Quartzsite since I left Yuma in the late 70s. Always planned to go back in the 80s for cowboy stuff. Oh well ! ✌️
Thanks for the video. The last time I was in Quartzsite was 05-06. Always liked the rock show in Jan thru ,,,? The place was a lot smaller when they built the first McDonalds there.
