Those were some disastrous races on monday because of the penalty fest in first corner.
It looks like the system is super sensible when racing the Super Formula and equates a lottery who will get it unless you´re Zocker or Super GT then you get it 100%...
The 2 sec In your second race are another great example what's wrong with that system.

I’m starting to wonder if whether your on the throttle, on the brakes, or lifting when someone collides with you.
I am computer engineer and I always try to find the tricks in the system, nothing with computers is chance, everything follows an algorithm, it’s just finding out what is the determining factors and exploiting them when you can. 😏

The penalty system really doesn't work at all, the other day I was at my local supermarket and this lady hit me with her shopping cart, and I got a 4 second penalty. So broken
I took more than 2 packets of toilet roll in mine. 6 second penalty.

Yeah man. With all these people panicking over coronavirus, supermarkets are worse than Monza turn 1 currently!
There was probably about 50,000 people there, even though the max capacity is only 1500, you get the jist.
Safest way so far to avoid the penalties is to ram the guy in front of you off the track and pass safely.
The sad thing is is that it's actually true. The system now punishes fair drivers and rewards divebombers.

The broken penalty system is pretty clear. If you're on the outside of a turn and there is contact, you will get the penalty almost every time, even if someone dives and has major contact - because it is looking at the direction you are turning the car. So the (broken) system thinks the driver that is on the outside is turning *into* the other driver (penalty!) And the R4M on the inside is turning *away* from the other driver (toootally not at fault).
That's what is going on, and it doesn't look at any other context, which makes it very broken.

sounds like you can game that if you happen to see it coming. stop turning before you get hit. you'll be pushed wide but that should get the inside car the penalty. or better yet, they can fix the penalty system properly.
Today I've got a penalty for going through ghosted player. That's how ridiculous current penalty. 5 freaking seconds. And once again, SF race but we can only use Toyota. Why? Toyota and Honda cars are the same so what is the point. Great vid as always Steve.

I almost smashed my joystick into the wall cause of this stupid penalies, my SR went from 99 to 70, they need to fix the game even if they're making tries for the new game. Always good video Super Gt, keep going so we do not get bored staying forcedly at home

u want your SR raise back u can try play Race A, i think normally Race A is slower car, easy race, play at the end and play safe, keep let SR green..

I did two races and rage quit, coz I couldn’t deal with the penalty system. Got a 18 second penalty on the 1st corner, for being rear ended. Second race I got run off the track and got a 12 second penalty, and that’s when I just decided that I’m not gonna ruin my day... so I quit

In GT4 you'd get a 5 second penalty in the head to head races even if they hit you.
tbh i love the physics and how everything works in gran turismo in general that was just the way i grew up but the online races are getting worse (and the same races every time except this week) and the single player... is just stupid the ai dosent go flat out on straights even at professional leagues you re always starting somewhere at the end and just have to catch up super slow cars. if you re in 1st they suddenly find the gas pedal and try to race you
this game died for me a long while ago but idk what else to play. project cars feels spongy, assetto corsa (havent tried competizione or whatever its called) is just too hard and too realisticish and wierd sometimes

LuizAbruz I play Project Cars with a Dualshock and it’s actually not that bad except controlling oversteer is impossible, GT Sport does play better on a Dualshock I must admit but I wanted to play Zolder and GT Sport doesn’t have it. I’d argue the Formula Renault 3.5 in PCars 2 are easier to handle than the Super Formulas in GT Sport on a Dualshock

Slip Effects: 35-25(Car/Track) Road Effects: 25(This is Bumps, This is personal preference 5-40%) Kerb Effects: 15 (Also personal Preference and Depends on Car/tracks. 5-30 is good). ABS effect: 0
It looks like SuperGT is the only "Motorsport" I'll be watching this year. McLaren just pulled out of the Australia GP this morning after a team member got Corona virus. I was so fing excited for this F1 season and now it's all falling apart, if teams aren't racing each other and only showing up for some races then the championship isn't really much of a competitive sport. It was gonna be a really really good season, the finale of the hybrid era 2014-2020 and now it's gonna be a mess and may not happen at all. I hope that the FiA can get all the tracks to host a spectator Free race so the teams can still race and the championship can actually be called a competitive sport.

@@Al_Tru Well if they don't race at all then they make no money, if they at least just broadcast the spectator Free races then they can at least make some money from TV ads etc. Either way, your right. The teams, the FiA, F1, Liberty Media are all going to lose some money or be in a tight financial decision. Even if the season is back on, they will still lose money. I assume they are going to do whatever they can to at least get some of the money they lost back rather than just cancelling the 2020 season as the teams have already dumped all the money into their cars.

@@robywhenthe Yeah your right, the fact I didn't expect a exciting future in F1 only made it more exciting. I posted my original comment in the height of the c-19. I was worried it would take F1 years to recover because we didn't know how bad c-19 was and I was really disappointed the new 2021 cars were coming late which made me worried it would get changed by then and not be as cool. But nah, I was wrong. And am really glad I was. It's great to see how F1 didn't let c-19 stop them. In fact, it only made it more popular.
Another driver on the speedway made contact with me on the first corner (I was on the outside giving plenty of space as I saw the driver on the radar coming from the inside, but instead out-braked and contacted my car). This caused me to spin, but at the same time, I contacted another driver who also spun, which was nothing I could've done (Despite my car not ghosted), which meant I was warranted a 5 second penalty for making that driver spin. Pity, and the driver who caused that incident went on to win.

This last race was one of the most entertaining ones I have ever seen here. As usual you kept your composure and timed those "overtake button" presses like a PRO.

I've had a few of those 2 second penalties lately and for me they've all had a reoccurring theme. I've been getting them when I follow the racing line then I get bumped by someone trying to dive up the inside. So the game must be thinking that you're blocking the racing line or something like that which is ridiculous

And you can look at my Kudos Prime page- a VERY solid SR history, so the algorithm shouldn't be biased against me and just assume I caused it, seeing how my SR is ALWAYS higher than those who hit me.

No word of a lie, like a previous comment here, just today I got a 2 second penalty for going through a ghosted player. I knew penalties were bad but that's just insane, my jaw nearly hit the floor. On Blue Moon Bay too, so that was race = over.

Regardless of whether they're testing the penalty system for a new GT title or not... it's not right that they ruin the game we have to play now.
Developers have countless people to alpha and beta games for them so I don't agree we should be doing it (unofficially) while it's ruining our experience.
The penalty system will always have faults, it's impossible to get it perfect. But for gods sake just put it back to how it was in November 2019 (the best it's been imo).

Ace combat sport: Rise of the penalties
I suck at Ace combat 7, and Gran Turismo Sport, so I won't even try this race.
Come on man it's not to 'strong' the weekly races are to short to make the slip stream to low or non existing. Imagine in a race about 2h u can put it on low but not on these short hoppers.
Also my opinion on GT Sport getting old is rubbish. Because why would Polyphony make those big events around the globe if this game is getting old?

Polyphony Digital is notorious for taking forever to release Gran Turismo games. Probably will be about the beginning of 2022 for the next one. Maybe by then they will have the sense to add in a manual clutch 🤔

I was racing at Blue Moon this week and swerved to miss a wreck on the backstretch (which I essentially did), and I got clipped but minimally effected by the contact and got hit with a 2 second penalty...for missing a wreck. It was annoying how many bogus penalties happened this week

Sounds like iRacing when someone hits you and then you get the penalty instead of them :) and don’t forget that he sent you into the shadow realm so you get another penalty point for going of track and then another 2 penalty points for hitting the wall and then when you try rejoin the track someone hits so you get another 4 penalty points and then you get disqualified just from one crash!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Keep practicing on the track your racing on and try to qualify in the top positions, usually less dirty players are there

Between this race and the daily on hash brown raceway my SR rating dropped from A to C in one evening. They seems to have fixed the issue at hash brown raceway though.

I was the angry Irish man in that lobby, the 6 races before Super joined were honestly amazing, then Super joined and all the weird fanboys desperate to get in his video appeared and it was an absolute fucking mess xD Then he logged off and the races were okish again.

The worst part of this game isn´t the penalty system. The real problem is the lenient crash physics, that´s the reason why you´re all racing like muppets.

I reckon this stupid penalty system is the late Charlie Whiting giving out the penalties he was denied to do so on direction from the FIA, from his Elysian vantage spot from the afterlife.
Removing SR rating gap from 99 would solve most of the problems with penalties.. For clean drivers at least..
No gap or much much higher gap very least..... would make cleaner lobbies for those who constantly drives clean..
And for those who don't dive bomb you in next corner, if you have slight connection with them in overtake/racing situation..
you could be relatively sure that if someone ram you, they did it really was an accident

last week I was steadily climbing as a newbie to 44000 piont and 99 sr ,after brands race b i think ,i started tumbling couple of days ago i was on over 33000 points with about 63 sr .
doing races were i kept getting rammed all over the shot .then in one race I quilified 3rd finished 4th .
with one 2 second penalty again , been hit .checked score after dropped to ecsactly 15000 points !!! thats abouit 18000 points in one race .

Trust me, you don't want the alternative. Look at fucking GT hopper in Forza 7. They have a fucking penalty system that is much less fucked than this one and refuse to deploy it out of 3 "beta" hoppers, cause rammers and griefers are obviously better.
Love the way Steve mentions smaller youtubers. But couldn't find the link to Zocker somehow (probably because of my 1$ Android phone).
The next penalty system should divide the track width into 2, and the car which makes contact (while crossing the line dividing those two halves) gets penalized. Crossing the middle line should be OK while you are 3/4 car lengths ahead of your opponent (meaning you should not leave space for cars which are only 1/4 alongside your car). They should also figure out how to gauge who was the first to cross the dividing line, by measuring and comparing the driver input of the cars which made contact.
An alternative, to quickly patch up the current system, could be a "call steward" button which would initiate a penalty search during the last few seconds of driving (or regarding the last contact(s)), and the rest of the time there should be no penalty system working in regard to player cars making contact.
