That's just dumb, why would winning be the best startegy? Winning is finishing first, but in school we always learn that the higher numbers are better. By that logic, 10th place should be better than first place, so what is this backwards logic here?

Pro tip: Do not get time penalties, they will slow you down and you want to go fast in a race.

One thing I have found that usually helps in avoiding any penalty, if you know you might be going over the line, you can let off the gas even just enough to "slow down" there instead of the penalty zone. It's weird, but it has saved me a few times.
This mechanic works in forza 7 as the incident occurs you can left off the throttle and the game recognizes you are taking the penalty now then later
That was a good video and some good racing too bad about the penalties they really hurt you otherwise the driving was good

@@MordernDays99 it's terrible on Forza though. very inconsistent, with most of the time still being a god awful penalty for barely going 4 wheels off in a spot that actually made you lose time anyway lol
When I was racing online In gt sport In blanchimont/spa It has saved me a lot of times , especially in the wet races

I just read in a reddit post a tip that’ll be very useful for future races: penalties will slow you down and make you lose positions, don’t get penalties while in a race, another one said something like: win the races you play in.

The Glen is my personal favorite track in the world. A very fast track that still has good overtaking zones, and it flows so wonderfully to me.

Feel like the penalties are a bit harsh when you dont really gain anything for the mistake you made.

Actually liked this race a lot, I think I played my 2nd GT7 online race tonight and somehow got 3rd with the Mustang! A good way to end my night, really think I'm getting a better feel for the physics but still think they need a bit of a tune, also learning ghat CEs are great for credits but they kill me on the inside

Been having loads of fun on Watkins Glen. Never played on it before and but it produces great racing.
A quick question, what software do you use to convert HDR to SDR for TH-cam? Unless you play in SDR already, if so then I would highly recommend HDR if you have the right settings. Another fantastic video!

Watkins Glen is a momentum track and it can sometimes be very unforgiving if you overdrive some of the corners. The biggest worry, for me, is always turn one and the bus stop due to aggressive drivers around me trying to out brake me. Practicing your marks and Being as smooth as possible in those 2 braking zones without killing that momentum can either make or break your race. I've had no issues in clean lobbies at The Glen and its gotten me involved in some great racing and wins
So much fun racing on this track and seeing people had a 1 min penalty after the race by not switching the correct tires. lol
That makes so much sense now🤣 wondered why I had a minute penalty

Hey, have you done any videos for those of us looking to get involved in proper racing? Like what to look for online, how to set filters etc? I'd still be at the mini clubman level personally, but would be good to find the right races
Pit lane entry penalties have been getting me. But I did win one from pole in the genesis and got two podiums here so far so I’ll take it. It’s a tough one though for sure.
what's the deal with the changing of positions after the race is over? i went from 3 to 5th after the race was over, but have no idea why. is this a penalty adjustment for something?

I had a bad feeling about Watkins Glen when it was announced for the game. Damn, the circuit was hell, just like the Daytona infield road course! And the sun was blinding me.
Sink some laps in, extremely satisfying when you get it linked up. Think I’m on a 1.42.6, not the fastest but it’s only day 2..
Hi Steve. I've been watching a lot of your racing videos and really miss online competition. I haven't played any racing games since Viper Racing (PC) came out in 1998, NASCAR Heat in 2000 (PC) which we quickly learned to hack (made mods) and add road tracks and cars and F1 Championship Season 2000. For the Playstation (1&2) I played Grand Turismo 1997, Need for Speed Carbon 2006 (?). XBOX original and XBOX 2; Forza Motorsports.
I was wondering how difficult it is to make adjustments in the garage? Which ever car you chose is the default loaded setup close?
I decided to ditch my beloved gr.3 WRX for this week's daily races and use the ford GT. Holy macaroni did it backfire. I absolutely love the turn-in response that thing has, but It is so unstable I keep losing it on the bus stop
I spent the whole day on that track.. amazing

Hey guys, i have a little question, have anyone else had issues with gt7s sport mode lately?
I used to be able to race online easily without any problems but since the update before the latest one i haven't been able to join any of the online daily races, i'm not really sure if it's cus my conncetion is very weak or the game has issues cus i can still join other people's lobbies from the multiplayer section and i play other online games compeletly fine without any connecion issues but i'm not sure

I remember that I got a 2 second penalty during a Watkins Glen daily race for forcing someone off the track. It's weird I got a penalty like that when my car got a bit loose in the final turn.
Steve, if you change your name to HyperGT, you'll become a few tenths faster per lap. This is due to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Is penalty time added to a driver's overall time, or does the game physically slow down the car an amount equivalent to the penalty time?
Idk if it's just me but that Alex's BMW looks NFSMW inspired, the colors at least. Also have you ever drove the classic Supra or M3 GTR, Super GT?
I got a 3 second penalty every time i went into the pits, all races last night. I made a special point to not go over the blend line, still 3 seconds, also when I pitted to change tires, it showed the same shot soft tires and drove like an ice skate for about half a lap then blink fresh tires that were cold, noticed the new tires drove accordingly and spun it around because they were cold. I hope they fix this stuff, it's discouraging to drive clean and properly and skilfully pass, only to have them drive buy you going up that bloody hill.
I keep getting the 3 second pen for crossing over pit lines.. IDK what i'm doing wrong

The Chute is actually the straight for the Short Circuit/NASCAR Circuit. That first corner in the Boot is known as The Laces. Followed by the Toe, then the corner where you got those 0.500 sec. penalties is called the Heel.
I mean I know what you mean by the laces but I've never heard anyone call it that, not during non-nascar weekends

As far as I know, yes.
Even if you crash and burn in the barriers you'll get the penalty.
Yes. I think it just registers where your car left the track and issues the standard penalty for leaving the track in that place.
You get a penalty even if you allready loose time by leaving the track yes .. its ridicoules sometimes
It seems like at red bull ring I've gone over and rejoined at a slow speed as quick as I could and didn't get one. I very well may be wrong tho

Shame you didn't show your Scott Chegg races where you did much better. I also think it's interesting that the ping seems so bad when you're racing local but if I recall when you were on the NA servers you and everyone had pretty good ping. I wonder why that is because you'd expect the opposite.

To be fair... The whole car was over the line, not just the tyres that crossed 2 pixels. Its a bit like; "officer I was only going 6 miles over the speed limit".
It’s on an going joke on the channel, Steve will usually claim that his car was just 1 pixel wide when he gets a penalty
