    I wouldn't say overrated guys. His stuff with feared is by far his best. Some kickass riffage. He can play leads very well but the type of music he plays doesn't require it constantly. He's earned what he's been given.

    If you tune the G string to G flat you have a guitar in B standard with an extra high E. This tuning lets you play familiar major chords but they all sound a fourth (string) lower

    • @JrodGtar
      @JrodGtar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, a baritone with a high e added!

    • @nickblake5371
      @nickblake5371 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ReprehensibleMeshuggah I use this tuning a lot for that reason, being able to have what is basically B standard with a high E added. Switching between that and regular standard tuning ends up being no problem.

  • @smoreshaunted
    @smoreshaunted 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    A 7 string is going to be more optimal for your intonation, sound, and feel of playing far better than if you were to use thicker string gauges on a regular 6 string instrument tuning all strings down to Drop A format, which I've noticed is what a lot of players have done to get a 7 string sound on a 6. Some players manage to make drop A work really well on a 6 string but for me it doesn't feel or sound right. What I do like rather is having my 6 in standard EADGBE and dropping just the low E to an A, So you have two A notes on top of each other ,AADGBE. With this tuning you can sort of emulate the sound of a 7 string guitar very well imo. Just keep in mind 7 string guitar is a totally different instrument. Hope this helped someone!!

    What about this 7 string tuning - D#D#G#C#F#A#D#.
    Half step down, but with an added Djent dropped string. Something I thought of. Rather absurdly low.
    I just wonder where the bass fits into this. First four strings are a half Step Down, but either that A# stays where it is, or that goes down even further, to that D# to stick with the guitar tuning. Which I don't know will work. That's gonna take one fat fuckin' string.

    What's the point of these 'complex' (or should i say rather primitive, one can hardly call a sus4 complex) chords if they sound all mudded by distortion? You can't possibly discern more than an interval, everything else is just... well. dirt. That's why in classic heavy music they play only powerchords: there's no point in adding more than one note to a chord's root and an octave to make it more 'full sounding'. Today be concerned with metal, distorted chords, 152-string guitars is just wierd. Yeah, with a clean sound we can actually hear what you're playing. Then what's the point in playing it when nobody can hear what you're playing? You don't need that many notes (that nobody in the world can elicit from those chords anyway) to get the 'dramatic effect', play a second on a 5th note of the scale on your guitar and let the bass player be herd with the root for god's sake. Why should he even bother.

      @CliffThaRiff 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Boost pedals are an excellent way to tighten up a tone so you can distinguish all the notes in huge chords. You don't need to play anything "complex" whenever you're playing metal. Dominant 7 chords aren't typically used. Minor 7, Half and Fully Diminished, Major 7, and even some Augmented chords will work fine, but it's mostly 5th chords stacked with doubles, with maybe an added 3rd. There's no need to be Thelonious Monk or Count Basie whenever it comes to metal.
