    Put a chunk of white plastic water pipe along the side of your boat and run the fuel line through it. Would keep it in place and keep it from getting squished.

    Looking at a still of the engine it may not have ever had a transmission, or bobtail which suggest that it was possibly a race boat of the 1930s. The exhaust coming off the front of the engine is a bit different from most boats of the era. But if it was rear cockpit racer it may have worked out better for the layout. This the coolest of the boats that I have seen . The boat you liked at the end of the video is a Dorset. It was design by the famous 20th century designer Raymond Loewy. He designer of the famous Pennsylvania Railroad electric locomotive. And the paint scheme on Air Force 1 in 1962.

    That's a pretty old boat. Looks to be a flathead engine and that was a 6 volt battery. Probably a late 50s or early 60s era boat.

      Earlier im thinking 1930s. Spark plugs are older style than the 1950s. Im thinking Graymarine (continental block). Also bottom construction suggest 1930s also. Very straight bow suggest earlier than about 1950. Bow design slowly went from vertical to a slight tilt forward starting in the post war years.

    I like it you are kicked back and chilled and taking videos I like the style. More than likely the boat was a Chris Craft probably from the 40s the valve is a shut off valve for your fuel tank .

    In line fuel filter does wonders and the biggest thing is to buy non ethanol fuel! It’s so important with boats you aren’t running the motor and stuff as often as say a lawn mower. My mowers get regular gas cause they run through it. The outboards get non ethanol. You could just buy treatment but the real deal is best. Also a trick I do with the boats if you can’t get ahold of it just buy isopropyl alcohol and it removes water and cleans out the carb.

    The thing you called a primer is to pressurize the fuel tank. This also suggest race boat. I think the battery is a Willard brand battery. I don't see steering gear or rods so I'm guessing it had cable and drum steering, but not sure. I would love to see this in person but i have no scheduled trips to Las Vegas. My daughter lives there but she is visiting us back east the next 3 months. The soonest i will be out is November. Im guessing it will be under water again by then.

    Yes of the weird triangle with the red was red right return channel marker it was a 6 volt battery and a continental 6 motor it look like it was 18 ft long 50s 60s vintage that would be in line with the Continental motor

    You need to see Sutton Lake and Summersville Lake in West Virginia. The town of Gadd had to be moved out of the Gauley River Valley as it was to be flooded. In tribute they were going to call it Gadd Dam Lake but instead used Summersville Lake and Dam since that's the lagest nearby town. Sutton Lake is the Elk River dammed up. Both are in the center of WV about 35 to 40 mins apart. You won't be able to get over how green it is there. THe water in the Summersville lake is about as clear as Lake Mead. Sutton Lake not so much.

  • @WafflePlaneRC
    @WafflePlaneRC ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not an expert, and that engine is pretty corroded, but the motor of that burned out wooden boat looks like the engine from a Ford Model A. At the very least, it's something of a similar era, so the estimates of 1930s make sense.

  • @tmiklos4
    @tmiklos4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can tell you what that boat isn't. It is not a Chris Craft, Garwood, Hacker Craft or Century. ( The 4 biggest boat builders of the era. I believe that boat was built between 1930 and 1950. It has a single plank bottom similar to Century boats of thar era. But it isn't a Century. The bottom planks are clinched nailed to the battens. Century Screwed all battens to planks on their inboard boats. There were many small boat builders in that era. Now if aI were to guess about the engine, i would say Graymarine. But it appears that the transmission is gone. I'm thinking this boat was burned intentionally to get rid of the remains.. i think someone kept the good transmission.. then lit it on fire... Chances the engine was junk. One possible builder could have been an early Dodge brand they did some batten seam bottoms on smaller boats. Another possibility is a homebuilt from plans of which there were many different boat type plans back in the day. Graymarine catered to the self builder.. They made it pretty easy to get one of their engines just about anywhere in the states.

    • @andreamills5852
      @andreamills5852 ปีที่แล้ว

      The engine could be a continental out of a auto because the distributor is on the top. Chrysler products distributors were were on the side .

    • @tmiklos4
      @tmiklos4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a 4 cylinder continental block with continental tag, engine that has a top distributor it is a Graymarine 4-62 hp Graymarine conversion. Also the Graymarine 6-90 and 6-103 Graymarine 216 ci block also did top or transmission mount distributor. Both continental blocks. The top mount when not used for distributor was the tachometer drive. I believe the 225 ci marine all continental blocks all had top distributors in the 1930s. Later engines starting around 1939 had rear transmission mounted distributors. These were all continental blocks produce for Graymarine. I know the 4-62 i believe 143 ci from the mid 1930s. Was made by Continental but was a Dodge designed block. I'm guessing that Graymarine requested an engine of that size and continental purchased the patterns for that block.

    • @tmiklos4
      @tmiklos4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So yes Most likely a Continental engine converted by Graymarine. Graymarine was one of the biggest marine engine conversion companies of the era, 1920s-1960s

    Sure there's lots you can do you can set the gas tank on the seat you can check for air leaks in your fuel line you can drain the carburetor get the water out if there's any or you can run it high RPM take the fuel line off and run it till it just sucks everything out of the squeeze bulb it up and go
