To be *fair* to Timmy, he had basically *maybe* one day a year with not only no Vicky, but his parents spending time with him that isn't a glorified show off/rivalry moment for his dad against **Dinkleburg**. As someone who grew up with a third-shifter parent, and an Assistant General Manager for parents, Christmas, New Years, and Thanksgiving were the main three days I could actually enjoy with both. So I totally get Timmy wishing for Christmas, and only really reacting once the presents have diminished to naught, it is something I would have loved to do back then.
Mentioning Tim my being basically around to show off or be part of a rivalry moment for his dad to one up Dinkleburg is a great way to look at how Timmy's dad actually sees him. Hurts more now but I'm glad you brought it up.
"And Timmy still can't get a girlfriend" I like how Timmy is minorly selfish. It's understandable he would want to be able to hold onto the feeling of being loved once a year. I like this special because the writers didn't make Timmy evil. He didn't factor the banks would be closed or the grocery stores which to be fair some areas do close all day for Christmas Day. He wasn't aware of the side effects Christmas has on adults. If anything, horrifically he recreated a joke from Jimmy Neutron, where Hugh Newtron had a lady experience the miracle of birth repeatedly. What if someone died and kept coming back to life due to Timmy's wish? So much psychological torture.
13:40 i remember this scene because "your just one kid, what are you gonna do" then terra-strong cowgirl goes "no he aint" "he's just the one who got here first" not word for word and then April fools goes like "we cant fight kids"

Yea, that's the real "unrealistic" part of the show plot involving fairies to grant wishes 😂😂😅 I'm just messing around and knowing exactly what you mean I couldn't help myself
I always just assumed that every fairy in the world besides Cosmo & Wanda has the discretion to tell their godkid “No”, even if they wished for something that wasn’t explicitly against the rules
@@TheKYLEdavid this would also make sense. Cosmo and wanda kind of decided after the song that it technically counted as a wish. The two halves of a whole idiot and all.
This special is great, I never really noticed or cared about any plot holes as a kid, because the writers did a fantastic job using "kid logic" to explain away a lot of things. Like the calendar thing.
19:44 timmy's parents 100% rationalize that if they treat him like a prince on christmas they dont have to feel as bad for treating him how they treat the rest of the year
19:40 counter-point: if your parents only show you love 1 maybe 2 days a year of 365 and 363/364 they treat you like shit/you dont exist i think fairy god parents are justified
@@Songal18 i agree with his point that bad-parents dont magically turn good for christmas but Timmy's parents have had good moments before the christmas episode im pretty sure, they're just neglectful, but when they're around, they care
What really makes me tear up from this special, all Timmy REALLY wanted out of Christmas was to spend time with his parents. The presents he got from Santa was the bonus but all he wanted was his parents to stay home and for the three of them to do things as a family. That is all Timmy wants and in the end he gets that more with Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof/Peri. I only realized on my recent rewatch that Dimmsdale is in Northern California, where in Fairy Idol I swear it was closer to L.A. or at least Southern California. But it is nice to know that Dimmsdale has always been in California. And yeah Timmy only seems to have two sets of grandparents, his dad's dad Pappy Turner(I think his dad's mom died when he was a kid and that's why she's never seen or mentioned) and his mom's parents, though he also has a Great Aunt named Gertrude, but other than that no cousins and his parents never mention any siblings so you gotta feel bad for Timmy there. Which just adds to why he has Cosmo and Wanda because if he HAD aunts, uncles, and cousins close by they would babysit him instead of Vicky. A big thing that confused me even as a tiny kid watching this, why did Timmy apparently have to go to school the day AFTER Christmas? Like yeah his parents going to work is one thing but doesn't Timmy's school get a whole break until January 2nd? People in other states can you conform if some school's do this? Punch to my HEART when Cosmo and Wanda see how happy this wish made Timmy, and again it's because he gets to spend time with his parents and get a few bonus gifts. Technically, Cupid's first ever appearance is in Apartnership but he does shine a lot more in this special. Talking about Santa being Pixie-Like during the other 364 days makes me wonder if this is the only things both the Pixies and Fairies work on together, the Fairies give him his magic for Christmas while the Pixies help his business side. I love so much that Timmy doesn't care about getting good presents and just wants Santa and Mrs. Claus safe(also this universe uses Kris Kringle for Santa instead of Nicholas which I like). Saying that Timmy might help Santa into Adulthood is bittersweet because he might do just that until he's aged out of having Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof/Peri as his fairies, aging out of being able to "believe" in Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, Cupid, and yeah...sure he'd probably keep the spirit of them alive but he'd never remember he met them all and had multiple encounters with them throughout his childhood and teenhood(especially Santa and Cupid). I like to think that the last Christmas he would have with his fairy family he went to see Mr. and Mrs. Claus and asked them to make sure Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof/Peri all had wonderful Christmases every year once he lost them. With this being their first special, the end of season 1 yeah it wasn't on the same level with what we'd get starting Season 2 Episode 1 with Boys in the Band and Chip Skylark's introduction, but still for the early day of Fairly Oddparents and for being a memorable holiday episode I'd say it does deserve a watch every Christmas, if anything just for the nostalgia. Thanks for reading my rambles and if you've got a pyramid I've got a sphinx who's looking for a new home, his last home got overrun by teenagers fighting to save the world from a creepy British man and an Egyptian Deity of Chaos.
Timmy's parents didn't change, the decorations extended to their enjoyment, they couldn't go to work even if they wanted to,and they give timmy any of those presents
Honestly, him having to do it into adulthood would actually be great for him. Adults forget about their fairy godparents, but once a year, Timmy will remember fairies exist, and remember his fairy godparents
That would actually be so sweet! Or maybe he only gets to remember Santa and helps him out at his office or helping the elves. Imagine Timmy befriending the elves and talking trash about fairies and for some reason Timmy can't say anything bad about fairies but doesn't know why.
Thank you for these reviews, man. I really like your humor and the way you bring a light onto our old cartoons. Keep it up, and love the content lately
What make this episode interesting is how because of the wish, A new rule was added. Also the concept of Christmas every day would mean a time loop, where only the person who asked for the wish remembered
Maybe other kids did but didn't let it go on so long, or their Godparents explained the lack of magic sooner to them? To be real, I could see Crocker trying to pull this wish when he had Cosmo and Wanda.
I found it interesting that Timmy's Christmas Everyday wish ended up being in Da Rulez book. Like that's probably the first time one of his wishes led to that.
Surprisingly this is the third Christmas special that showed me that Christmas every day would be an awful idea. The others would be Sesame Street and a Disney short with Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Timmy has his Dad’s dad and both of his Mom’s parents as Grandparents, but as stated, they hadn’t existed back then. There was mention of a great aunt Gertrude in the first season who never showed up in person in the show.
One thing I love about this special is that even the creators referenced it in the Wishmas Special several years later. Early on in that episode, after Timmy makes his wish, Jorgen senses something's wrong and states that since it's the day after Christmas, Santa should've given the magic back. I didn't think they'd care about continuity that much since there were other instances in the series where episodes and specials disregarded what some of the others supposedly canonized.
Now what I don't get is that if everyone is aware that the day never changes why don't they just treat Christmas like any other day? Like what's stopping people from going to school and work? People do work on Christmas so why not send kids to school regardless of the fact that it's Christmas everyday? This isn't like a timeloop like in groundhog day or in Mickey's once apon a Christmas with huey dewey and louie wishing it was Christmas everyday and that one was a timeloop. It's weird time seems to flow normally but the seasons never change. I don't even know how to describe this scenario
Well that would depend on A New Wish getting a Christmas special, which itself would most likely happen in a season two, to begin with. With that in mind, for the love of God, continue streaming it on Netflix to wherever the Darkness came from and back; Ashleigh and her self-insert turned main character (Hazel for future reference) need all the support they can get, especially now that it’s the holidays
I haven't watched this special in a long time and the only reason I remember this one more they I would was because of the second Christmas special they made in season 6 called Marry Wishmas. That one I've only seen once but I genuinely despise it so much and it's not just for the various retcons that the show kept pulling after Poof was introduced. I appreciate this holiday special after seeing this recap though. I've always enjoyed Christmas specials that are a lot more complex with their stories since they're more interesting than most of the iconic classics that are overplayed on TV
My favorite part is The Third Week of Christmas where everyone is trying to get food and money trying to break into the closed banks and closed food stores and Mr Turner's Parts lol .
4:11 As much as I wanna point out why we should all stan Hazel’s parents again given the points made a literal minute ago, in the spirit of the holiday season, I will begrudgingly attempt to let my current comfort character/show go just once and instead point out that being too excited to sleep on Christmas Eve as Timmy was does not have to be exclusive to children. Happens to me to this day even long after I stopped believing in Santa. In my case it’s more for the anticipation of the morning in general rather than any fictional characters associated with them and whose supernatural abilities Marcus would be all on their-dangit I was so close! 😂 😢
I still remember as a kid my family was in the drive thru of an Arby's for some reason and the car in front of us had one of those new mini TV things that played DVDs and it was playing this special. Specifically the confrontation of the holiday characters in the alley
There was also an episode of King Of The Hill that’s kinda similar to this special that premiered around the same era. It actually debut a year before as a matter of fact. The name of the KOTH episode in question is Twas The Nut Before Christmas where Bill was Santa Claus and turned his house into Santa’s Village and he kept the Christmas celebration going on for too long lasting all the way to either late February or early March all because he was so entranced by the magic of the holiday. Bill met a teenaged slacker named Wally at the laundromat where he washed his Santa suit and it shrunk. He took Wally in as a wayward waif and surrogate son and Wally was really using him for money, cigarettes, and alcohol. He even sold Bobby, Connie, and Joseph beer. Eventually, after he caught all three of them drinking, Hank decided that he had enough of all that Christmas crap and puts his foot down with Bill and tells him to put an end to it. He eventually does after Wally is arrested and Bill convinces the judge to enlist Wally into the military rather than sending him to jail. King Of The Hill is another show that showed what an awful idea of either having Christmas everyday or keeping the celebration going well into March while the rest of the world has already moved on from Christmas for the year. Also of note, contrary to what the rest of the world says, Christmas is not over on the 26th of December. It actually lasts until the Epiphany on January 6. I do not like how everybody is so quick to shut it all down on the 26th after just one day and completely disregard the tradition of the 12 Days of Christmas. There’s even a Christmas Carol titled the 12 Days of Christmas and different versions of it are played on the radio at Christmastime. Speaking of radio, all the radio stations stop playing Christmas music at midnight on the 26th and go back to the regular music. I don’t even listen to live radio from the 26th till after the Epiphany. I just continue playing my Christmas music playlist in my music instead during that time. After the Epiphany, I go back to my usual stuff as well with that being the oldies but goodies and classic rock
This style of plot originated from a short story by William Dean Howells-published in 1892 titled "Christmas Every Day". Possibly the first example of a series episode or film I remember using it was the Sesame Street special "Elmo Saves Christmas" (1996), which isn't a "Groundhog Day Loop", but has Christmas simply happening every day of the year instead of such.
Please also review both the Jimmy Neutron Christmas special and the original ICarly Christmas episode before the Christmas season ends! I love your videos. This Christmas special is fantastic! Lots of fun moments and clever side characters!
Maybe being extra attentive towards Timmy on one day out of the entire year, as in Christmas is still in character. Like in their heads, they know they have to be loving on Christmas out of habit, but it just don’t see how awful the behavior is through the rest of the year.
One of your statements is not exactly true later in the episode we see Chester skateboarding by the school when it’s still closed and he has one spoken word line
since I'm a christmas baby, everytime I watch this episode,I question how christmas everyday thing would work if your a christmas baby,do you age everyday? I hope not, that would be a nightmare XD this question has been burned into my mind since I was a kid XD
You should do a video of all the nickelodeon Christmas specials Both Rugrats specials cause they did it twice . Jimmy neutron, I think you’ve already did SpongeBob , hey Arnold, the wild Thornberrys, as told by Ginger. Basically all of them. And then do teir maker and make a ranked list. As the final video.
@ haha I get called unc by the teenagers I work with so we’re all feeling a little old. But keep up the great work man I love the channel the nostalgia from these old cartoon specials really be hitting the spot.
the inconsistency you pick up on is the parents and calendar? that's it (for ones of relevance)? No, both of them are arguably the most realistic parts. Who wants to go back to a soul crushing job if they have a built-in excuse? No, they lean into the excuse, and with enough people in agreement, the calendar becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It is only when they no longer have access to their hard earned cash (most notably, the show points specifically at the banks being closed, not that the parents have gone bankrupt) that the adults start rebelling against the "reality" of the wish. And before we pick apart that the banks are not the first to open, lets just go with the "social commentary on the wealth divide" excuse even though it is far out of the scope of early fairly odd parents. Kids getting timmy's message and helping out? Suspension of disbelief. 1 kid sees the message online and spreads the word as even kids have a reason to end the wish. As the message spreads, timmy finds more and more aid, while being a picky kid means he isnt as receptive with the gifts of aid as an adult would be. No, if anything, it is that they dont pull the "you dont need fairies anymore" excuse when xmas removes all of timmy's strife. Even with all the points of contention, the show gets away with it specifically because it is a story told from the kids' perspective. The magic of childhood is a heavy theme of the early era(s) of the show, and if timmy doesnt question it, the audience wont either.
I love this special I watch every single year, i think one of the best things is the idea that Santa got his magic from the fairy's. That's just fantastic and is using a central premise of the show to an amazing degree. The idea of Christmas every had been done before but I think this was my first taste of it,. The songs are good as well, they have a good beat and lyrisc to them. This is my 3rd favorite Christmas special from nick, only Spongebob's and Hey arnold's are better then it ."Christmas who". is funner and had a sweet momment in it and "Arnold's Christmas'' well that's just unbeatable. the other Christmas special they show did is...ok I guess but I really didn't like it as much, the moral is very similar but not stated as well, I didn't like that Santa tricked Timmy and the other kids, and I just felt it was disappointing, I don't know maybe cause this one was just so good that nothing they did could really match it.
I liked the video but then you kept making it sexual. It's weird yeah probably most of your audience is adults but like this is a kid show it's just weird man
Maybe being extra attentive towards Timmy on one day out of the entire year, as in Christmas is still in character. Like in their heads, they know they have to be loving on Christmas out of habit, but it just don’t see how awful the behavior is through the rest of the year.
7:17, in Channel Chasers, Timmy asks “is every adult on this show a moron?” With this show, the answer is yes

The premiere christmas special from the early 2000s for me has definitely got to go to Billy and Mandy Save Christmas.
Please also review both the Jimmy Neutron Christmas special and the original ICarly Christmas episode before the Christmas season ends! I love your videos. This Christmas special is fantastic! Lots of fun moments and clever side characters!
8:00 they may have missed Santa Claus but at least they can get Jack skellington
15:03 Hang on. Cosmo and Wanda grant a wish in front of everyone? All those kids saw the fairies. Maybe Christmas magic could explain it all away.
Maybe being extra attentive towards Timmy on one day out of the entire year, as in Christmas is still in character. Like in their heads, they know they have to be loving on Christmas out of habit, but it just don’t see how awful the behavior is through the rest of the year.
A true Christmas special thanks bruh
Like, why didn't he just wish to have more toys and spend time with his family if that's what he wanted lol
Elmo Saves Christmas has the same premise as this episode and it's so much better.
very first Christmas to me is the goat, but I wish everyday could be Christmas is slept on
Timmy's parents don't dislike him its more that they forget about him and they always feel bad when they realize they are awful.
Have you done jimmy neutron crossover yet
Yes I did the first Jimmy Timmy power hour! I’ll be doing the rest in the future!
And to think that they would do ANOTHER Christmas episode, and do it horribly wrong.
15:05 wait a Minute! So Comso and Wanda are just there in their normal forms poofing Timmy away in front of hundreds of children?
Yeah I thought about that and just assumed the children thought they were “holiday creatures” as well
@ that's actually a good point
i remember watching this on xmas eve and on every xmas eve i play batman arkham origins
One of your statements is not exactly true later in the episode we see Chester skateboarding by the school when it’s still closed and he has one spoken word line
legend has it Timmy still can't get a girlfriend
since I'm a christmas baby, everytime I watch this episode,I question how christmas everyday thing would work if your a christmas baby,do you age everyday? I hope not, that would be a nightmare XD this question has been burned into my mind since I was a kid XD
WE LOVE YOU NOGGY, MINE
uses their magic to make him massive just like your whaaaaaa?!?!?!?!??!!?!?
There is also another similar episode with "Wishmas"
Great Xmas special
Also, Mr. Turner needs to go to Eggnog Rehab
I have seen all the episodes, the fairy odd, odd parents except for the Christmas I have seen it
You should do Good Luck Charlie Christmas Special it’s so good
13:26 why did he say that 😂. Shit was lowkey weird bro.
Where's Jorgen Von Strangle in this special?
I guess since the fairies were running out of magic he wasn’t able to poof down to earth to help
You should do a video of all the nickelodeon Christmas specials
Both Rugrats specials cause they did it twice .
Jimmy neutron, I think you’ve already did SpongeBob , hey Arnold, the wild Thornberrys, as told by Ginger. Basically all of them.
And then do teir maker and make a ranked list. As the final video.
Man why did I think this came out when I was like a kid kid no I was less than two months old when this came out 😭
You’re making me feel so old 😂
@ haha I get called unc by the teenagers I work with so we’re all feeling a little old. But keep up the great work man I love the channel the nostalgia from these old cartoon specials really be hitting the spot.
Bro who is the avatar you use in your vids I vividly remember playing that computer game with him in it when i was a jit lol
You gotta do the Christmas episode of spongebob next
the inconsistency you pick up on is the parents and calendar? that's it (for ones of relevance)?
13:26 boooooo
talk about the Regulat Show Christmas special
I want more
Icarly christmas special next year (or yet this year) I Remember it being very unique
I wonder if this episode has anything to do with the movie santa Jaws
Can we get futurama next 😅
UGH! Can you stop with "hitting on" Mrs Claus?
Aggressively Average?? More like...Aggressively Really Cool Guy Who Is My Favorite TH-camr
Timmy its really stupid idea wish christmas evry day
I liked the video but then you kept making it sexual. It's weird yeah probably most of your audience is adults but like this is a kid show it's just weird man
You spelled true wrong 😂
Was waiting for someone to point that out 😂
What you guys don’t spell True like “Ture” 😂 Been a long day at work and I’m out of it 😂 thanks for the catch 🔥 🔥
😂
