- Next up in my exploration of solo miniature games, we have a closer look at Five Parsecs From Home. In this video, I walk through some of the basics of the game and roll up my own crew. In the process of making my crew, my dice did something they have never done in over 25 years of gaming! Watch to find out what happened. I'll be working on getting models together for my crew in the coming weeks, then hopefully I'll find a good way to do some batreps!

Five parsecs makes you want to paint more and more different miniatures.. and you get quicker at rolling on the tables. characters become way easier to roll up, the more you do, and that's good, because they die often.
I'm already shopping around various STL Patreons even though my printer won't get here for another week! And yeah, after watching a fair number of batreps, it has become fairly clear that I shouldn't get too attached to any of my crew.

I love Five Parsecs. I play on a 2x2 board. A kill team board would work perfectly.
I am very slightly concerned about it only being 22" wide, but I'm also pretty confident I can figure it out. I just got done putting paint on one of the crew. I'm pretty excited!

Certainly a record for me! My stat math is poor, but I think it's literally one-in-a-million.

That's awesome! I'm still in love with the procedural generation of scenarios. I'm gearing up for a Five Leagues from the Borderlands campaign, and I plan to film the next batrep in my own Five Parsecs campaign soon.
I know this video is a year old by now, but I wanted to compliment you on a very clear explanation of 5 Parsecs. I'm just getting into it and I really love the system so far. One thing though, a 0 on a d10 is a 10, not a 0. To roll 100, you have to get a 90 on the percentile and a 0 on the d10. I played a wild magic sorcerer for 3 years and had to make a lot of "d100" rolls, and it took me a while to wrap my head around that!

Good call. For me, it's been an excuse to make the rounds of various 3D printing subscriptions.
The odds? Does not matter how many times you roll. Each die roll is a 1-in-10 (10%) chance of each face when using a D10. NO MATTER how many times you roll. Just like tossing a coin -SAME ODDS EVERY TIME
I've never seen a Hakshan mentioned before - you definitely chose the right race to represent it. And in 5P, "Karens" definitely want to do more than speak to your manager. :D
As soon as I read the Hakshan description my mind went to the Tau Pathfinder team I've been meaning to paint for months.
5:17. Where's the resident statistician to confirm my math, but I think its 100^3? Might have been literally a one in a million occurrence. 🙂🥦🦖
That's my thought as well, so long as it's the odds of specifically three 100s in a row and now just the same result three times in a row.
