I've had my 2024 MX for 6 weeks and I love it! I chose it over the MY because of the seating comfort and spaciousness. I have the LR 5 seater which provides a lot of space for hauling stuff which is what a SUV is designed for. Its quiet and smooth ride makes it excellent for leisure driving. imo if you want a tesla , and you have a family , model X is the way to go! model Y just seems alittle too small for a family of 5! i’ve found that our model X feels perfect for our 3 kids!
Model Y owner for four years. Decided to buy another electric vehicle for my birthday this April. Looking at cyber truck, Mercedes, BMW, Kia, EV nine. Sorry, cyber truck is just not ready and has a lot of issues, not the least of which are size and absolutely no rear visibility. Four wheel steering, drive by wire, front camera, and ambient lighting. Absolutely should be in the model X. So I looked at all of these choices based on performance, technology, and comfort. A lot of lipstick on pigs out there. I am retired with all of the kids out of the house. So this car was just for me. I drive about 40 miles a day and do you long car trips, every two or three months. I also like having the extra space for bikes, golf clubs, and occasionally people in the back. So what did I buy? A 2024 model X. Best car I have ever owned. Yes, the flaws that you point out, particularly the doors and falcon doors in the garage are annoying. However, I disagree with the sunvisors. I find them quite useful and not as obstructive in my other cars. The premium great parts of this car are ones that we now take for granted. Very comfortable ride. Very reliable. Top-notch sound system. Great technology. Great panoramic windshield. Excellent visibility. I use FSD all the time. Cybertruck still waiting for that. I have absolutely no regrets at all. I am a car enthusiast, but not a blogger. Yes, the cyber truck is very intriguing and does look very cool. We all want the new shiny thing and the cyber truck definitely fills that box. From a rational perspective, the Model X is still a much better vehicle today. Hopefully that will not be the case in the next several years.
It is not that hard dude. If u have a family and just do road trips, no need to tow or haul and or not a contractor then buy the X or a more affordable Y. If u haul, tow and or are a contractor with a family then u buy a Cybertruck. Life is simple.
I have a model 3 and was looking for a bigger second car. The X just doesn't make much sense when compared to what's available. Ended up getting the R1S, me and my wife love it so far.
@@zackxmoon I placed it about a week and a half ago. Tesla told me it would probably take until August, from the first of July, 2024. I got a notification that if I would take white instead of black then they had one ready for pick up. I sent pictures of my trade and we excepted and then in 2 days I had it in my hands, from a test drive on Friday to a delivery on Tuesday. I think this is the nicest car I have ever owned and I have owned lots of trucks but I bought the X after looking at the different models and the X fits me better. I love it.
Still cheaply made but love the tech. Things to watch is the molding around the wheels comes off easily and road noise is ridiculous. Still love Tesla's but you'll get annoyed after awhile
I have '19 XLR and '22 YP. For around the town and just myself, Y. When going further out with family, the X. The driving dynamic of the Y is so good. Berri No-ICE.
Model x is way bigger in person than how it looks in the picture or videos. I had a loaner for a few days and it was bigger than my wife’s acura mdx in the garage. Just less cargo space because of the slanted rear. Ride quality and comfort was better than the mdx. I really liked the car. My wife would have traded her mdx if only the x had better mileage and more cargo space.
Love my six-weeks-old MX LR. With that being said, Tesla forgot what is the whole purpose, the main creation, of this car. The MX supposed to be the most comfortable and the most technologically advanced car in the Tesla line up. That is no longer the case. The MX is Outdated, plain interface, lack of functions that other lower models already have, lack of newer hardware, and quality. It feels as Tesla pushed the MX to the side and focused on other models, which is understandable why but, doesn't change the fact that the MX need a good refresh.
I currently have 2024 Cyberbeast, a 2024 Model 3 Performance; both are dope and super lit! Now, I have a 2024 Model X Plaid coming next week, my dream SUV since her original debut. Now I have it all covered :D
The captains chair optioned model X is easy to justify as the only 3 row ev to offer one. And as a pretty great minivan alternative. Also the plod is the world’s quickest production suv.
I think X still is a strong option. I owned a MYLR for a year… not enough range for my application (hyper commuter). My complaint on the MX would probably be the same thing. Love the design as the closest thing to a minivan that is on the market as an EV. A bit disappointed in the third row not being adult capable though, given the price. Not interested in the CT exterior design. I like the front end, but hate the bed design.
I love the Model X, but recently purchased a 2024 Mach-E as my first EV. So far I’m loving it, no complaints. I test drove the model X and immediately fell in love, but I wasn’t ready to pay nearly $100k for my first EV for fear I may not like it. I definitely have Model X at the top of my list for a future EV. But still hearing so may issues with Model X and I’m slightly afraid I’d buy a car that will spend way too much time in a service center. Torn between that and a Rivian R1S. Loving the cyber truck, looks amazing but its not for me personally. I think I’ll check out Model X in a year or so and see the comparison to the Mach E and if it’s worth moving to the Model X! FYI… I stayed till the end! LOL
I wish there was a larger tesla suv with normal doors. Not a fan of the falcon wing or button press front doors. R1s seems like the only decent large suv ev on the market
I’m currently debating between MX and CT. Originally I was all in on CT. I have the deposit, I got called for the Foundation Series and I have need for a large cargo area. I thought CT was it … until I test drove a MX. I loved it. For almost $30k less (MXLR vs CTFS) you get so much. Yes there are things on CT that I wish MX had but then again there are things on MX that I wish CT had. I’m a big fan of the second screen, even if it isn’t customizable at this point. I love the tilted screen. I LOVE that you just have to push the brake and the door closes. That windshield!!!! Falcon wing doors are cool but they are a love/hate type of feature and I wish MX (and all the line up) had a front facing camera. I also WISH MX had steer by wire. That would make SOOOOOOO much more sense with the yoke. Yes, the CT serves a similar purpose as the MX but they are still different vehicle types. Some people just don’t want a truck, and some especially don’t want the CT. I assume once you get in both they have similar feels since they are both Tesla’s and there are minimal differences between the interiors but there’s something different in driving an car or SUV over driving a pick up truck. Surprisingly, I am finding myself leaning more towards the MX than the CyberTruck and when I initially put the deposit down on the CT, I never thought that would ever be a possibility.
@@johncarlos1012 I’m still in flux. With the non Foundation series and Project Juniper still hanging over everything I’ve decided to hold until something pops. I’m assuming it’s gonna be Juniper coming out first and that might get my renewed attention. I did get to test drive a CyberTruck. That was very cool, however I do think I enjoyed driving the MX more. TBH … CT and MX are taking a back seat, at the moment to the forthcoming Juniper MY refresh, although if Elon comes up with a special deal like last year where he includes the red paint on the MX I could be very tempted.
I didn't know you had no customization on the instrument panel, you sure no music showing at all? Also on the door there is no manual way to hold the outside door button to start opening it? Does the yoke ever hit your legs in a turn or your hands hit your legs? I think I still want one......
Also the falcon wings are a pain! The only pro rr cited was more space…. I have a model y and a car seat that swivels it’s super easy, I barely see an advantage and what you gain is a finicky ridiculous falcon door. Ugh
powered frunk is the only addition I really need on the X. customizable driver display would be nice too. Stayed to the end of the video. Very well put together. I would honestly like stalks for the turn signals and wipers if we're being honest.
I have a 2018 p100d and would take this over the cybertruck any day. Especially having a baby, it just makes sense. I can't think of any other vehicle that works for a new family.
Cybertruck steer by wire turnoverless 170deg travel wheel is perfect for stalkless, unfortunately with standard steering wheels there is no way to safely engage signals without taking eyes off road in tight turns, so the entire lineup except MY is xxxxed up.
I think after the Model Y refresh, Model X will get the same minor refresh with blind spot monitoring in the front speakers, and rgb lighting in the cabin.
The six seater seems overrated. No arm rest, less trunk space, a big open space in the middle aisle for what purpose? Get the five seater much cheaper same car
Tesla should reduce production and add more features to maintain it as a premium vehicle. Although it’s an ev, I personally think the X doesn’t deserve the level of depreciation it has with the current unique features. Just like CT no other SUV is like it. I own a 2016 MX and love it.
Love my 2023 MX but it gwrs annoying from time to time. Currently, all the sensors are acting up so doors and truck hit anything in their way. Earliest service appointment is ol40 days out.
Front trunk doesn't open automatically? Thank God it doesn't the least complexity you have the better and less chance of something breaking. Also why would you think that touch sensitive buttons are more premium. No, they are cheaper to produce harder to use and overall a bad idea.
As a model S owner, I looked at the Model X for my wife however I agree its aged and found the 3rd row completely useless in a 6-seat configuration. In that configuration your passengers can't put their feet under the seat meaning its good for little kids only. When Tesla was the only game in town, I think they could get away with things but as the market is changing the price to features dont draw in that 6 figure crowd. You hit all the issues I had in the test drive 1. Visor 2. Door opening 3. 3rd row was terrible overall a solid car kids loved the falcon wing doors and the first 4 seats lots of room. I feel like Tesla either needs to decide to play in that high end game or not at this point. As the Lucid Gravity is about to release, the Kia EV-9 which has way more room and the list of large EVs coming to market leaves the model X feeling dated for the price.
I have a 2024 (march 2024) LR , same color as you have . Mine has center horn and is a 5 sitter . I've no promblems with the falcon wing doors . Only wish I'd had gotten the yoke , the round wheel does obstruct the screen
I also wanted to buy a plaid but the prices in Germany are ridiculous. It costs 120,000 euros here, which is the equivalent of around 131,000 dollars🤦🏻
Honestly this help me what car I want next and it’s the model X that car opening part ima have to get over since it is cool, but this will be my first electric car and yes I stayed the whole video thank you for the info
I stayed until the end…I want to say I liked this video as I was looking to buy the Model X at some point and haven’t really found reviews on it. Based on your comments, I think I might wait just to see if they do another refresh of it. I am also curious to see what they do with it because it’s doesn’t look like the X is like a flagship model for them as it gets updates quite delayed to my 3.
I tried the automatic door close when walking away at a doctor’s office and it worked but the car didn’t lock 😮. I’m not sure if I was out of range by the time the door close.
@@thomaseilert3820 You still have to lock the car using your phone app to lock the doors. It’s still unlocked if you don’t lock it. It’s not automatic.
Got my X in 2018 and have had only 2 issues and just still love it as much as the day I got it. Feel like I'm in the minority as it gets so much negative press, but I hope they continue to make it for when I need to replace mine. I love all the features that are so unique and not available in any other car.
Nothing in Tesla gives you the usable space as the Model X. I’m new to Tesla and bought a used MX LR. I have had the Medil Y and Three as loaners, I couldn’t wait to get back into the Model X.
I do want an X. I do like the yoke. My wife wants and X for the ride hight, but she would hate the yolk My only grip would be non physical buttons, i can live without stalks.
Maybe the solution to your falcon doors opening in your garage is to back the Tesla in that way you don't have as much obstruction above the rear portion of the vehicle.
Thank you for the info. I've been a minivan driver for 25 years. Mostly Honda Odysseys. Once the kids were all grown and gone, and my minivan started breaking down regularly, my mechanic talked me into a ginormous, gas-guzzling, GMC Yukon. I miss my minivan. Now... concurrently with my regular rides, Tesla has been impressing me with their mission, and to a certain extent, their vehicles. My son purchased a Model Y (2020) which he let me drive. And... it's okay. Way smaller than a minivan. But, I like the idea of not having to purchase gasoline. He charged it up in the garage overnight. I'd be content to do likewise. But, I want something bigger than the Y. I've been eyeing the Model X, but... honestly... I don't like the doors, and I don't like the huge window (with the stupid sunshades.) You know what would be revolutionary on a Tesla? Sliding doors! Like a minivan! Even with no kids, I used the sliding doors every single day. They're so incredibly useful. Never have to worry about banging into someone else's vehicle. When Tesla makes a minivan... I'm all in. Of course, I'm getting older now. And, it may be a sufficient number of years before they come out with one. So... I may not make it! While I don't hate my Yukon, I really do miss my minivan. If the interest rates ever come back down, I'm considering trading this thing in on one of the extant minivan models. I guess we'll see. We should know something in August about potential future vehicles. Surely... surely they will come out with something for the minivan/family/people-moving market segment. I'm hoping. (I've been looking at the CyberTruck, and... honestly... I really don't like the aesthetic. But, I do like all the stuff that it's able to do. I like the steer by wire. I like the suspension options (although, I will never go off-road with it. I'm an in-town, suburbanite. Roads? Where I'm going... I need roads!) I don't mind the truck bed... I owned a pickup truck 40 years ago. It was useful for what I used it for back then. But... when the kids were born... a minivan was the ideal solution. Loved it! If I could actually reach the back part of the bed (well... right behind the seats) that'd be good. Maybe someone makes like a drawer set up where I could pull it out to reach the stuff in the far back. Hmmm.... I like the idea of the back camera, but it desperately needs the washing feature that the front has. That's where all the dust, and rain, and mud spray collects. Seems like a major oversight. I wouldn't mind a Cyber-Minivan. Same shell, but... you know... with seats where the bed would be. And a roof instead of the tonneau cover. And... sliding doors! :) I test drove a Model X to see if it would do. Yeah... no. But, I do appreciate your take on the features. I always try watch to see who has what to say. I appreciate the info. Thanks for the review. Good luck.
I use sunshade to block sun. It's a stick on so it's very convenient. The non folding of the captain seats I don't mind. I don't think I'll use my X to haul 😂
my moms model s (raven) battery completely died in the middle of nowhere on me. now it has to get replaced so shes looking to trade it in for a model x even though i strongly oppose it based off the experience i had with it dying. the car began limiting speed and acceleration, then it started throwing out codes like candy. a few minutes later it said to power to car may be shut off. i pulled over, got out bc i heard a clicking noise, i closed the door and the car completely shut all power off. i left my phone in the car so i couldnt call for help and to make matters worse I had my hunting shotgun and a few other firearms in the back that i could not access. i live in california so leaving a firearm in the car unattended is a huge NO NO here. so i eventually flagged down a gentleman to use his phone to call my mother to get tesla to come tow the car. so now i have multiple firearms stuck in a car at a service center bc tesla doesnt use mechanical door handles in cases of emergency. i would personally never buy a tesla bc of this HUGE flaw.
Great informative video Robert! I love my MX. If you own a Cybertruck - would be great to see this kind of car review video from you on the Cybertruck sometime in the future.
If you want a second row center console Model X I have a 75 D in great condition that I’m willing to trade with a second center console with some extra cash for a 2024 Plaid Model X
Im debating between getting the MX plaid or LR. If Plaid had a 5 seat configuration, wouldn’t hesitate for a second. But I fear that for passengers in the back, wont be comfortable without arm rest, and also the lack of storage im missing out. Am I worrying too much about these things?
@@RobertRosenfeld1 two questions : 1) knowing what u know today. Would u buy the model x plaid or LR ? 2) regardless of hearing ur thoughts at the end of this great video, I live in a country cybertruck is still not available here. Should i get the model X now or wait maybe a year and a half or even two years until cybertruck becomes available? I currently drive the model Y LR with 74,000km driven on it :)
I’m also curious about long trips in those captain chairs without arm rests. I can’t imagine that is comfortable. I’d want to lay on the floor eventually.
Teslon has made many references to wit that Tesla not be considered a car company, but something else. Let's see what happens next month, but I am reticent to buy a Tesla vehicle when Elon is looking toward something else. If Tesla has a future in personal vehicles, it should be plainly stated. It's really sad when the doors of a vehicle don't open. X doors are too complicated for their own good. Scratch the X from my list.
I actually did not listen to his jumbo mambo. I did all the way back. Wanted to hear what he’s gonna say if he regrets or not, but when he is trying to steer you to purchase the truck… what can I say? The guy is a pretty good liar.

I’m picking up my X in two days, July 2024.
When did you place your order if I can ask?
@@zackxmoon
I placed it about a week and a half ago.
The Y is great !
When do you think we would see the "new" Model X? Early next year? I'm assuming it'll be after Juniper update to MY.
You are living my dream!
What did you end up going with?
No for music - no for door - yes for yoke - and yes you’ll still want one 😂
@@RobertRosenfeld1 thanks! CT is too big for many and classified as a truck so a lot of other expenses with that... I believe...
So… get one NOW?!! Or wait until next month and see if prices go down even more???
Also the falcon wings are a pain! The only pro rr cited was more space…. I have a model y and a car seat that swivels it’s super easy, I barely see an advantage and what you gain is a finicky ridiculous falcon door. Ugh
powered frunk is the only addition I really need on the X. customizable driver display would be nice too. Stayed to the end of the video. Very well put together. I would honestly like stalks for the turn signals and wipers if we're being honest.
Has any of the recent updates, resolved the door issue inside the garage?
I have a 2018 p100d and would take this over the cybertruck any day. Especially having a baby, it just makes sense. I can't think of any other vehicle that works for a new family.
X Plaid is the best car I ever had.
Cry about it
@@alangwhiteTheBoss I don’t need to. I didn’t get tricked like you.
duh the space in the middle to get to the back seats
Tesla should reduce production and add more features to maintain it as a premium vehicle. Although it’s an ev, I personally think the X doesn’t deserve the level of depreciation it has with the current unique features. Just like CT no other SUV is like it. I own a 2016 MX and love it.
Love my 2023 MX but it gwrs annoying from time to time. Currently, all the sensors are acting up so doors and truck hit anything in their way. Earliest service appointment is ol40 days out.
you can search and change service centers. maybe other centers have earlier appointments
Do Model X owners prefer the 6 or 7-seat configuration?
this is what I'm wondering... or the 5 seat
I have a 2024 (march 2024) LR , same color as you have . Mine has center horn and is a 5 sitter . I've no promblems with the falcon wing doors . Only wish I'd had gotten the yoke , the round wheel does obstruct the screen
Thanks Robert I always appreciate your videos and your honesty. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work.
I also wanted to buy a plaid but the prices in Germany are ridiculous. It costs 120,000 euros here, which is the equivalent of around 131,000 dollars🤦🏻
We have the model one performance I would trade that thing in for the model plan any day do you want to trade, buddy?
what?
@@thomaseilert3820
You still have to lock the car using your phone app to lock the doors. It’s still unlocked if you don’t lock it. It’s not automatic.
It should lock by itself once you have setup auto lock with phone key
Good info! Thank you. Testing driving X tomorrow.
Just spent a week in my sons X and loved it thanks for the review
Got my X in 2018 and have had only 2 issues and just still love it as much as the day I got it. Feel like I'm in the minority as it gets so much negative press, but I hope they continue to make it for when I need to replace mine. I love all the features that are so unique and not available in any other car.
Nothing in Tesla gives you the usable space as the Model X. I’m new to Tesla and bought a used MX LR. I have had the Medil Y and Three as loaners, I couldn’t wait to get back into the Model X.
I do want an X. I do like the yoke. My wife wants and X for the ride hight, but she would hate the yolk
My only grip would be non physical buttons, i can live without stalks.
Maybe the solution to your falcon doors opening in your garage is to back the Tesla in that way you don't have as much obstruction above the rear portion of the vehicle.
I tried that, no luck unfortunately
@@RobertRosenfeld1How about parking on the other side of the garage? Did that help ?
@@stephenaceituno The other side has a garage door to small to get the X in
@@RobertRosenfeld1 the answer is a jack shaft garage door opener
I test drove a Model X to see if it would do. Yeah... no. But, I do appreciate your take on the features. I always try watch to see who has what to say. I appreciate the info.
Thanks for the review. Good luck.
Does it have lane changing guide light on rear view mirrors ?
I use sunshade to block sun. It's a stick on so it's very convenient. The non folding of the captain seats I don't mind. I don't think I'll use my X to haul 😂
Have a 2023 X Plaid, love it. Cybertruck does not have the range that the X does, not as efficient. That’s a big issue. Watt hours per mile for me.
Your honest review was very helpful = Model Y is better choice for me. Thank you.
I stayed! About to test drive X... might put in for the cyber though
my moms model s (raven) battery completely died in the middle of nowhere on me. now it has to get replaced so shes looking to trade it in for a model x even though i strongly oppose it based off the experience i had with it dying. the car began limiting speed and acceleration, then it started throwing out codes like candy. a few minutes later it said to power to car may be shut off. i pulled over, got out bc i heard a clicking noise, i closed the door and the car completely shut all power off. i left my phone in the car so i couldnt call for help and to make matters worse I had my hunting shotgun and a few other firearms in the back that i could not access. i live in california so leaving a firearm in the car unattended is a huge NO NO here. so i eventually flagged down a gentleman to use his phone to call my mother to get tesla to come tow the car. so now i have multiple firearms stuck in a car at a service center bc tesla doesnt use mechanical door handles in cases of emergency. i would personally never buy a tesla bc of this HUGE flaw.
That giant glass overhead must be super hot. I live in Denver with tons of sun most of the year, and I am concerned about the heat.
It's not bad at all. I live in houston Texas.
Great informative video Robert! I love my MX. If you own a Cybertruck - would be great to see this kind of car review video from you on the Cybertruck sometime in the future.
Sure!
Thanks for the info I have a 2024 Model X and love it..
If you want a second row center console Model X I have a 75 D in great condition that I’m willing to trade with a second center console with some extra cash for a 2024 Plaid Model X
You know they should have gone with sliding doors, aka mini van style. I'm just saying
😂
Love the model X
Im debating between getting the MX plaid or LR. If Plaid had a 5 seat configuration, wouldn’t hesitate for a second. But I fear that for passengers in the back, wont be comfortable without arm rest, and also the lack of storage im missing out. Am I worrying too much about these things?
Eh, I wouldn’t worry about it
@@RobertRosenfeld1 two questions :
1) knowing what u know today.
The Cybertruck is the ugliest automobile I have ever seen. It has the aesthetic appeal of a wart.
i like model x
Model S long range is the better deal
The model x is the ultimate pinnacle of tesla, their magnum opus, essentially.
its trash.
I love your videos Robert!!!
Apologies for leg color?
at this point just wait for the new battery tech to hit, and see where the redesigned MY will take it. i bet 2026 will see a new and much improved X.
Love the cyber truck ❤
Looking at the Model X for it's cargo space. Shame Elon has turned into such an awful little grub
I like the falcon wing doors and I have kids. Sometimes finicky but otherwise great.
