unless i'm doing trials i always use koshai, because you don't really need more damage in any other activity, and i just love the mobility / utility / extra survivability it gives, like escaping reza's bubble or entering valomyr's (if you're into that). also when you interrupt a fast attack like embermane / shrike / shrowd you can just dash to it and don't have to run after it.

I run the Shrike lantern on all my builds just because of the versatility and noticeable effects. The hold ability is also great for team hunts as well as solo. The tap is great for chasing down bees on the other side of the arena, getting out of the way of their bigger attacks, or just mobility across the map (especially Fesca wherein getting from one brazier to the next is crucial).
Embermane lantern - for slow weapons like axe and hammer or to boost DPS
Drask lantern - for high DPS builds to maximize damage
Shrike lantern - for attack and move speed for repeaters
Pangar lantern - for people who waste stamina a lot and to squeeze nearly 1k damage while freezing a behemoth
Skarn lantern - for (maybe) tenacious builds and defense
Koshai lantern - go through shields, move to the behemoth quickly, or the healing.
Recruit lantern - useless to players after they get another lantern but okay to newbies
So basically lanterns are heavily dependent on the behemoth you are fighting, weapon you are using, and build you are using. There isn't really a lantern that is good.

You forgot the utility lantern. The default lantern when unlocking a new loadout slot. It had recruit's model and it does not do anything. I always use it on trials
I find something satisfying about the shrike and pike auras going overtop each other in group plays. The speed and crit boost comes in handy, even more so when a pylon is down.
Koshai on Ardent Cyclone is quite underrated, but it makes it much more enjoyable especially on mobile behemoths. Also the healing from the tap is pretty useful for face tanking anything that doesnt one shot.
Plus there is that bonus point for using something a bit unusual
Slight piece of feedback: it took 1 minute and 35 seconds before the actual video started. This sucks. Especially for new people to the channel, who dont know you, dont care who you are, they just simply want the meat of the video as soon as possible.

You uploaded some builds with the repeaters days ago, I used it with the pangar flashlight, and I can say they are excellent
As a Skarn lantern user,I didn't expect my lantern to be this disadvantageous

The recruit lantern confused me to no end when I first picked up Dauntless 8 months ago because the "track behemoth" hold ability was bugged for me so it didn't do anything when I used it. I came over from the monster hunter franchise and this invisible tracking effect led me to believe there was some sort of map I couldn't figure out how to access. I completely forgot about this dilemma I had until I remembered it just now. I'm curious, was it bugged for anyone else last summer?
Honestly for a long time I did use Drask Lantern and finally recently switched to Pangar Lantern to play with it more because I like more Stamina.
😅😅 I've always stuck with Skarn lantern cause I liked having a panic button to absorb a hit when I over-commit. I dabbled with Koshai cause lifesteal is always nice to comeback from mistakes.
Also ,.. the panagar lantern can stack the hold ability
Hi mr trails... I’d like to see some island events with torgadoro malkarion etc...would be really cool to fight these guys a bit more other than just on escalations... and some new lanterns obviously. Have a nice day

I use embermane lantern in combination with the torgadoro sword bonded to embermane sword with +6 barbed +6sharpened +6 rage +6 iceborn +6 evasive fury +3 discipline +3 conduit is very strong and will keep them locked in a stun after repeatedly breaking parts
If ur gonna be wounding, I think that savagery is a good way to go.
I say this because you will lose the damage you gain with sharpened anyway.
So, instead of having a small constant increase in part damage, I believe it could be better to have the 100% damage increase that savagery gives you with wounded parts.
(This is if you are going to be specifically wounding and breaking them. If you don't focus on wounding, then ignore this. XD)
Before watching this video as a player who has played since alpha I think it’s drask hands down but let’s see lol
After watching I do agree pangar is really good but drask lantern is my snipe master. Cant tell you how many times I have gotten a part break as I’m running towards a behemoth from drask that I got to capitalize on from the snipe. That said with subclasses coming, cell rework, and lanterns being changed the meta will really be shook up soon. I’m not a trials fan either so that may be why I love drask. Slowing behemoths has always tripped up my rhythms unless I stun lock them out. Skraev I got my don’t take any damage mastery by stun locking him to death with hammer. Cant wait for thunder deep drask to come so I can get my mastery for him after all these years lol
ummm I can't pick the recruit lantern, nor do I see anyway of unlocking it in the slayers path.. I heard u started with this when starting the game, but I want to use it to try something..

New to the game. I can not seem to get the quest for Prangar's lantern "cold light." Is there a quest before it I need to complete?

Why my lantern doesnt have tap?, only has the hold
due to the addition of omnicells it only has lantern hold now so this is outdated

Check out the slayer's path, there should be a few nodes earlier on that unlock each of the lantern recipes.

It really depends on what build weapon and behemoth you're fighting I mostly use shrike because I use repeaters

When I use the Twin Suns I use the drask lantern bc of the tap ability I can use when using the mag bombs.
Regular repeaters benefit from the Shrike lantern bc of the mobility is gives as well as the attack speed.
When using other weapons is when I usually use drask lantern or when I'm feeling a bit generous in the hunting grounds, then use Shrike for the *team* so that everyone completely *wrecks* the behemoths 6v1. Lololol
I only use Pangar lantern for escalations and trials except when the behemoth is frost.

I just use Pangar's because i hate gruk gruk they ignore behemoths hitboxes and they just phase trough them like the behemoth isnt even there and a whole group of them ? Can and will stun lock you to death
