    Mt. Rainier is one of the things I miss most about the PNW. We had such an amazing time up there and it's absolutely beautiful. A true treasure of the PNW. Great video my friend!

    Whoaa 5 kids thats gotta keep you busy lol. Also, sorry for this long post. So - I was stationed in Bremerton, WA for 2 years back in 2015-2017 (lived in Silverdale). Loved Silverdale. Bremerton... not so much. Ended up moving back to Kentucky when i got out of the military for family, etc. I had a buddy who was in the Army and lived on JBLM and hung out down there several days a month. You are not kidding about the traffic on I-5 around JBLM. I really liked the Tacoma area and the proximity to Seattle, but i really only knew the JBLM area, I didn't get out and about in town much. I'm interested in learning more about the area. Decent-sized budget, I work in surgery so would need to be close (within a 30 min call range) to a larger-sized medical center. I do remember that there were alot of homeless in the area and really trashed up some of the areas. As a single guy would need a smaller-sized home (1200-1500sqft) and in a quieter neighborhood. I would also consider a townhome if it had nice curb appeal and the neighborhood was quiet without alot of kids around. Anyway I'm going through your videos now, will try to jump into your live later today. Also considering Olympia. Silverdale is on the list also, just hate being so far out in the middle of nowhere and the ferry to Seattle is not super convenient.

    The Chinese were literally run out of Tacoma in the late 1800s, businesses and homes burned down. You’d be hard pressed to see any businesses which is why there’s no China town there. Yes, Tacoma was one of those sundown towns.

    Question: was there a military base/post in Tacoma Washington city limits back in the 1980s at least? What about inside Seattle city limits back than?

    • @livingintacomawashington
      @livingintacomawashington  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t believe so, JBLM has always been out of the city limits. It was officially a military post ft Lewis in 1917.
      Discovery park in Seattle was a military post. In fact you can actually buy the old base housing! There is one for sale for around 1.2m right now

    Any specific parts of town that are dangerous or high property crime? Just applied for work in Tacoma and wanna know what areas to avoid

      Typically if you’re looking to be a home we hop on a zoom and really deep dive into what you need and then we as a team help you find the right area. There is a link in the description. Or you can email us to set up an appointment at info@livingintacomawashington.com
      If you just want to check out Tacoma crime stats you can visit www.cityoftacoma.org/cms/one.aspx?pageId=83476 for the cities crime map.
      It’s really hard to tell someone where they should buy a house just based on crime. There is so much more that goes into that decision we really need a deeper convo to understand what is really important to you.
      Curious, what kind of a job are taking?

      @@livingintacomawashington Well, I’d be renting first. I grew up in Miami and fell in love with mountain biking so I want to give the PNW a try. I found openings in a company I use to work for in both Tacoma and Seattle and I prefer the idea of being close to a major city but not inside of it.
      What I’m mainly looking for is access to advanced mountain bike trails, and quality outdoors activities. Proximity to Vancouver was also a big plus to me.

      There is no safe place. Lived here all my life. And I live in the “good” part of town. Now I don’t go out at dark, although that doesn’t matter, and get a tracker for your car. A kill switch would be even better. I have had my racer bike stolen and my car three times. It is beautiful and a lot here. Just do your research.

    Tacoma has some of worst infrastructure I've ever experienced. Only people from Tacoma think it's normal. Pro-tip: live in a surrounding community like UP, Fircrest or Gig Harbor... they pave their roads and don't waste their city budgets on nonsense.
