    I got the 2023 350 extended. (Not dually) in my old job we had promasters , I drove the oldest which was like a 2015 to the newest 2022. No comparison. Ford feels so much better , a lot roomier for the driver and passenger and better MPG in my opinion. I don't need towing so I got the naturally aspirated v6 (non turbo) , it works just fine for the job that I'm doing. Just be prepared for the big oil changes , they use 12 qts of oil. Not 6 like the turbo version. Overall I'm pretty happy with the vehicle.

    The HUGE problem now is getting any new/newer vehicle repaired at a dealer when you have a problem. You may have to wait a month before they will see it then getting parts is is well good luck. Many older good tech's left the workforce. Each new year brings vehicles that are more complex out pacing most tech's. Which most are not tech's they are mechanics. Even the manufactures are have big issues programing the computer systems. Just b/c you can spin a wrench don't mean you can come close to troubleshooting a control problems. Anyone thinking you just plug a laptop into it and bigo there is the problem, LoL. I watched this happen coming out of the 70's into the 80's in the industry I worked. Going from mechanical/electro mechanical to micro proceed base equipment. I just bought a new Transit 350HD, got it home and found the windshield wipers don't work properer. Take it to the dealer, "you need a new motor". 10 days later they replaced the motor and short out the plug and burned up the wiring harness and plug. Got a 2017 Ridgeline been waiting 2 months for a BCM. It would take a hour to explain what went and going down over this BCM. I'm down 2 vehicles 😒. Ford dealer says they can't even get a harness... 🔥Ever see a DC fire? The wire goes much like a fuse on a firecracker.

      I find the Sprinters (on my third one now) easier to work on than most modern vehicles. Commercially-designed vehicles with less electronics, and set up for fleet operations with in-house maintenance. Very different than my consumer Mercedes vehicles, which can be very difficult for a consumer to access, diagnose and repair.

    "I can stand up in here" is a poor way to review the cargo area. For those of us that might want to convert it to an RV, exact hight, width and length would be more useful and make you seem like a more "professional" van reviewer.

    Nice Transit but Sprinter vans engines are designed to last 2x as long as EcoBoost, no button to unlock 270 door opening, more available cargo volume in a Sprinter, and standard cross wind protection. You have to buy 2 Transit vans to equal the life of a Sprinter van but great information. I think the seats are better in a Sprinter too! I have owned and driven many Sprinters and Transits as daily drivers and on very long trips. There are plus and minus to each of them for sure. Transit-easier to get service, less turbo lag, cockpit more typical F-150ish cockpit, but less money. For conversions the Sprinter is way easier to do a campervan build on for a DIYer. This van is all over the place now. I recall these vans first came to the United States. I recognized them from Europe. I used to call them "Euro" vans. Then the other brands came after them. I saw years ago when everything started going global, I slowly be surely noticed the "American" identity going away. It still is. Ford and GM had to go global because they could cater to different markets globally because of costs. Then we started seeing more global products brought to the United States. This van is sold all over the world now. We had the Ford Econoline in the United States. Econoline died to make way for this van. There is nothing wrong with that. Ram has one, Mercedes Benz has one and Freightliner is sold here too. This is the nature of globalization. I have no issue with Transit. I see them at my job too. I know Volkswagen has one they do not sell in the United States. Hyundai has one too. It is not sold in the United States. GM used other brands to make the Opel and Vauxhall versions in Europe. I believe it was Renault who has a van too. The market is indeed changing. Thank you for the video and the review Ben.

    I will haul large body parts for trucks and cars and while I could use a trailer, an enclosed body like this is preferable. A box truck is too bulky.
    Can this or the Sprinter haul something as large as a short bed pickup box? I'd have to see which one could do it. I've considered the Ram Promaster, but the 3.6 V6 is going to need constant attention. Sprinters have a reputation to overcome, but maybe they have. The Ford Transit AWD seems to be a good choice for us in the winter lands in the north.

    Couple things: 1) Evan with the more off-road package the Transit ground clearance will probably be less, fact check that one I could be wrong. 2) the Sprinter fuel economy will be much better. Transit does haul ass, give you that.

    So many negative comments. My biggest complaint isnt the van itself it is dealer greed. A Transit like this current via most dealers will see a $10k!!!!! markup. Loaded, not $60k but $70k.
    A GLUT is coming so for those that can wait a few months these will be at MSRP or below by year's end. Can't wait to see what greedy dealers want for the Transit Trail - haha - $20k OVER????

    • @jr.6199
      @jr.6199 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That hasn't happened yet in 2024, the Trail still has a $7500 "market add up". If it has tech packages you will wait long and pay Msrp +, if asking why you'll have some young guy say ''its not for you". They will quickly blame union workers but not the greedy Executives and shareholders. Capitalism has no shame.

    The reason that Ford is a better choice. You nearly can NOT get decent service nor parts out of Mercedes if you're traveling around the country. I would NEVER buy a Mercedes for that reason alone. Having a van fixed up to live in in particular means you WILL be needing regular service. A built-in nightmare for a Mercedes owner.

      So not true … all vehicles have repairs. Mercedes Sprinters parts and repair faculties are few and far between and door rates are through the roof !! One of my drivers just had replace all of injectors (Diesel) over $4000 at 95,000 mi.. just sayin 😉

    • @deanpulley6197
      @deanpulley6197 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curious if you are speaking from first hand experience. Mine includes 3 Sprinters over a 12 year period, two diagonal transcontinental trips per year, many 1,000 mile + runs in between. How, in particular, does a DIY buildout affect scheduled maintenance? Parts are a breeze from Amazon/eBay and (as with any vehicle) if you don't learn basic maintenance/repair, you are a victim. I did have a cooling system issue beyond my ability to repair in NW Texas on van #2 (thanks to a previous owner's inept tinkering,) but made it to Albuquerque fine to enjoy watching balloons launch for a couple of days before I was on the road again. Your experience may be different, but it would be helpful to know what experience you have had.

      I was a Service consultant for 12 years for General Motors. I ran independent shop for two. In that time I’ve worked on every making model vehicle you can think of outside of the foreign exotics. I now own my own trucking authority (Since 2020) and we use exclusively cargo vans for our business. They are all Ford transit. My personal vehicle is a 2020 Ford transit which has 175,000 miles on it, it is all routine maintenance. It is only had one ignition module that has failed out at the cost of $400 parts and labor to put in at a Ford dealer..other than that the vehicle has been flawless and repair shops. A.k.a. Ford dealerships have a more centralized mapping across the country for repair Mercedes does not, Mercedes, however will overnight any parts necessary for repair but you will pay and you will pay dearly to do it. They do not release their programming information nor there scan tools for any type of independent shop to do the work so you were at the mercy of their dealership door rate.

    Based in the UK have always had transits for our business. A mark 5 then a mark 6 and finally the new mark 8 with the 2.2. Will never buy another ford the engines are too weak whos daft idea was it to use a wet belt system the cam belts runs in hot engine oil. They break and ford dont care. Have learnt our lesson with Fraud (ford) had a 1.0 ecoboost that destroyed its engine after the belt broke 74,000 milea and 7.5 years well inside ford timescale to replace. Rubbish egines in the UK and poor customer services.
