First time in a long time I've seen Weber bowl. I looked up his age and was surprised that he's only 57. I'm almost 73 and he looks at least as old as I do.
Idk why but I llike Pete's approach, the way he takes ome step back and then goes forward!! It's as if he's telling the pins "alright get ready, I'm coming!"
Norm Duke does that too. They are both short. I think it's how they get in time. I'm amazed that Webber and Monecelli can still open their shoulders like that. Good Gene's I guess. Wish I had a dollar for every ball they've rolled!
Do you think it might be a good idea to explain what an asymmetrical ball is? How about when you say "bigger ball"? Aren't all bowling balls the exact same size? Strictly speaking, aren't the weighting features of a bowling ball contiguous with being asymmetrical or do you mean the ball is out of round? I've been bowling since before you folks were born. I use a Columbia Yellow Dot and carry a 200 average. I still have no idea what these terms mean. Reply
Asymmetrical refers to the weight block shape. It affects the balls motion as it hooks. "Bigger ball" tend to refer to a more hooking ball. One that has a stronger coverstock/weight block combination to provide more motion in heavy oil conditions. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
@@BrothersInArmorI wouldn't know if you are wrong or not, but thank you for the explanation. I love watching the PBA, but they aren't always too clear on what their terms mean.
Wow! James Campbell is super slow... And P.S. the Roto Grip Idol is, "magenta" not pink. Also the Storm Super Soniq is a big ball with a, "symmetrical core" not asym ...
Wow. Where's the grandeur and respect for attending a tourney featuring two of the world's greatest bowlers, Weber and Monacelli? Instead, there's a small group of well-fed people that looked like they dropped in for some open bowling but decided to stick around anyway. Has bowling fallen this far?
your answer is that this is the PBA50 tour. it's amazing that it exists at all considering the state of the main tour. these events appeal to a fraction of a minority of bowling fans, who already represent a very small fraction of sports fans. your average viewer probably only watches professional bowling in the first place because of the power modern players have, which the PBA50 tour lacks. your average league bowler probably doesn't even follow professional bowling, and your average tour follower probably doesn't have the money or time to spectate. these events, to my knowledge, have also never been televised, only PPV. furthermore, people just aren't interested in watching old people play sports. i am, and you are, but we're such far and away outliers that we may as well not even exist.
@@odellus not even close bud, people tune in to watch Icons of the sport or good players, do you think Walter Ray or Norm Duke have a ton of power or hook the whole lane, and yes that is fun to watch at times but its not the only reason people tune in, also you highly under estimate how many bowlers are out their and would be tuned in if it was on TV
@@reinnegroni8462 You know, it gets really frustrating when you keep leaving one pin as you throw your first ball down the lane. You guys just don't understand bowling.
Flo Bowling needs to change it's name, really. Xtra Frame was better at that time. Announcers snooze on the mic, only if you bring back Nelson Burton Jr. Why? Because he bowled with Pete Weber back in 1984 at Dick Weber lanes & he always called him "Peter" & that would be a surprise if Bo showed up unannounced. And one other thing, the camera angles are bad, bring on the professional camera angles like they did from the ABC/ESPN days, gees. No wonder that you have 10 dislikes here. That's a strike!
Am-le-to, not A-ma-le-to. C'mon man, you even have a story to remember it! It reminds me of the common American pronunciation of Tijuana as tee-uh-wah-nuh. Where does the extra syllable come from?
No kidding! So disrespectful. Amleto is a great professional who has been around forever and deserves respect. Say his name correctly. Who is that guy who kept saying his name wrong?
It's been three decades since I bowled regularly so I am not familiar with thumb inserts and interchangeable thumbs. I always used tape. I had used finger inserts but had mixed feelings about them. After watching these videos and I thinking seriously of taking the game up after shelter-in-place is over. But my concern is how much power players have dominated the game.....I was always a stroker, like Norm Duke. I am also concerned about the choices of shells and symmetrical/asymmetrical weight blocks and cores, which have advanced so much since my days on the lanes. Oh well, there's lots of time to do research before my local center is open again. Maybe a summer league for older men?
I guess Tracy is history. They been together for a long time. This will be number 4 (Dee Dee, Kim, Tracy, and now the new one). Oh well hope it works out.
actually quite the opposite, I think he does a good job and gives a good bunch of insight as to whats actually going on and things that helped certain players do well etc
This is pleasing to watch, good professional bowling without the bright lights, boring commentary and crowd chanting like a wrestling match

Glad to hear this guy finally learn how to say Amleto's name

Monacelli orgullo venezolano !!!
It was good to see Pete Weber listening to Matt McNiel giving championship match advice.
Amleto seemed to have cut down on that wrist action alot with his swing. He used to whip his wrist around the ball on his follow through
Pete Weber and Brian LeClair have bowled some exciting matches

Bill Cape Congrats, it’s nice to hear from someone that started bowling before I was born in 1950
Back in the 60’s there was a bigger ball named after Don Carter, it was like 1-2 millimeters bigger than a normal ball but still within specs
the River City Extreme Open provided the exciting finishes of the semi final and title matches
I’ve bowled with and against most of these old timers, wish I could still compete today but now I only averaging 208. I’m now 89.
Mike Fagan!!!!! Come back!!!!!
Second that
Third that!!
I was at that tournament
C'mon, Pete, save your rants about stuff that doesn't carry in case you still win. Lmao
Pete always has a pretty big shot on the lanes. Helluva games against James.
