Growing up west of Chicago I remember the Peterson well. Different patterns on every lane and none of them were "normal" and sometimes not even a pattern as much as seemingly random puddles of oil, arrows blocked out on some lanes, no warm-ups, 2 ball limit, variable weight pins in a rack, sometimes pins were off spot by quite a bit, etc. It was fun, but so dang frustrating.
He of the long brown locks definitely had the advantage. It would be nice to see a video with him talking more about his bowling style. His approach and ball motion is unique on Tour. Also, the world needs to know how Mitch keeps the hair looking that smooth and flowing.
5:57 now thats a pre-shot routine right there, spontaneously... Even when there's no oil on the lane, he still wipe off the oil (or no oil) ring on the ball.. 😂😂
Lol love this. Dude didn't oil lanes last week for new summer league I started. I ended up rolling my white dot spare ball. I couldn't figure out how to control my reality check and my new zen u. Spare ball outside 5 on the right was going Brooklyn lol. House owner was there I was like where's the oil? Honestly just joking a bit, he was like what? Asked him to watch my white dot hook. Lol
What "the kids" don't realize today is that these were the conditions some of us actually had to bowl on in the juniors. Some houses in the NYC area were notorious for this: Morris Hills in Parsippany, NJ, Eagle Rock Lanes in West Orange, NJ, Bayside Lanes in Bayside, NY, and 10-pin-on-the-mall in Paramus, NJ. This was back in the mid- to late-1970s so most of these places are long gone. You had to develop a "fudge" release to compete in these houses.
2 awesome pba pros that I really want to meet plus no oil and old plastic balls equals the best day . P.s I love throwing plastic on very burned up oil on old wood lanes in my league at milwaukie bowl and it is awesome because I use a Geico plastic ball that you would see on the tour on tv in the early 2000's
So I made a comment yesterday, but a lot has changed in 24 hrs lol...I'm copy/pasting a reply I just made tonight regarding 2 handed bowling. So I've just recently realized that 2 handed bowling is a thing. And I , like others, immediately jumped into the RAWR RAWR !! That's not bowling ...crowd. Fast forward to 5 days later lol, and I've changed my mind, and it's from one simple line that Belmo said, "And I fell in love with bowling doing it the only way I could at that age". And I played that back and listened to it again, and it makes perfect sense. Small kids can play tball and learn baseball and move on to the Majors, small kids can play mini golf or play with smaller clubs and move on the PGA, but small kids can't pick up a damn 10 or even 8lb ball and learn any fundamentals at all doing it the conventional way. So what do we tell our children, sorry son/daughter you'll just have to wait until you're taller, stronger, and heavier ? Anyone challenging this is simply jealous. I taught myself how to bowl when I was around 12 I guess, joined a league for less than a year. Shot a 267 when I was 16 and a 721 series, but couldn't keep up with the demand because my right arm would get so tired. Had I been able to do it with this 2handed method, I know for a fact I would have stayed with it. Ok, i'll get off of the soap box now.
Im impressed. I thought your 120 guess would be solid. I bowled a 74 at a company function on lanes like this. Not 174. 74. I get to redeem myself in late June. Maybe I should just hit the arcade?
This actually happened at a Women's Proffessional event many, many years ago. Everyone complained, but they decided since everyone had to bowl on it , everyone had to just deal. It was one of a pair, like lane 1 of 1 & 2. It didn't ever happen again inmy experience...but wasn't fun.
@@TheHouseBowling Right on man. Cool you talk to the people. Love your vids. One of my team mates started throw 2 hand because of you. Haha. Youre awesome dude keep it up
I averaged 205 on Statue of Liberty at a sweeper a few months ago. It's long but scorable. Lots of hold but you can also carve SOME of the outside. Keep the breakpoint at 8-10 and don't be afraid to loft the cap if you have a lot of RPMs. It'll likely move in on you, but not so far in to where you're aiming at the 15 board. It'll transition to where you'll likely need to feed it to 12. If there aren't any thane trolls on your pair, you'll have room. 8 to 14 will yield a pocket hit. If there ARE thane trolls on your pair, you might need to play the frozen rope (up 15). I'm a speed dominant bowler with next to no RPMs (200 or so if I wheel on it) so I pretty much pitched it up 10 for all six games during my sweeper. Was at 15 at the arrows 10 at the breakpoint for like the last two. Was in my Prism Hybrid the entire day. 2x PBA champion Cristian Azcona was a few pairs left of me, he was already lofting the cap by the third game.
@@TheHouseBowling key phrase there is just gotta call ahead lol. Some are good but some suck. There’s only one Bowlero in New England now that’s good now and consistent for oiling the lanes
I’ve asked before to try this. I believe it solves weighthole rule. Take favorite old semetrical ball drilled up requiring a weighthole to be legal or flare increase ect… calculate how much weight the extra hole removes and drill the hole exact opposite location and add some lead weight to simulate what’s removed by original extra hole and plug up the opposite side hole created. Should quarter scale out to be same specs w added lead to opposite x hole location that would be w illegal extra hole drilled. Now you have old balance hole drilled ball without balance hole but should react like it does making old balls legal again. Please try this. I hope I painted a clear picture. Just take any old balance hole ball and plug balance hole. Drill opposite location hole add lead and plug it also.

He's obviously wiping oil on to the ball lol

No oil? Two steps back, aim to the center mark, and slide fast. Good luck.
They should have a whole PBA tournament with no oil on all lanes they could call it the screaming demon pattern
Its the whole: “Spares dont always win you the game, but they can definitely lose you the game”. At least most of the time.

You should play a game where you only get one shot no matter what. No spares at all. Just count the first shot only (except for the 10th frame)
So kinda like a 9pin NoTap, minus the pick up opportunity lol.
It's crazy just the sound difference

4. One handed
