    we need more people like you to move rattlers down here rather than killing them. Do you know of any studies of the numbers of Eastern Diamondbacks in Florida? My understanding is that they are in the decline, and operations like yours can help. But they may need governmental protection to survive in the long run-and a lot more videos to change people's attitudes toward them.

    • @TobiesTroop
      @TobiesTroop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Grace, we are trying to change people's mind and social media has been a great tool. In our local area minds are really changing, we get sooo many calls and people not wanting the animals hurt. That use to be rare for us but is becoming common!!!
      Yes they are doing work in some areas to assess populations, check out the The Rattlesnake Conservacny on FB they just made a post about edbs potentially being listed in SC and MS. Likely won't happen in Florida until it's too late. We are in the process of turning this state into.concrete and money supercedes everything

    • @TobiesTroop
      @TobiesTroop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice Dan! Corals are rare where we are now so are pygmy rattlesnakes. When we lived up in Central FL corals and pygmies were the more common venomous. 7ft yellow, thats a giant! A friend of mine found one that big once! Have you had much luck with edbs in Clearwater?

    What do you do with the pythons?

    • @TobiesTroop
      @TobiesTroop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ends result is typically euthanasia for pythons. They get used for science, because they are invasive. However the native snakes like rattlesnakes are never euthanized.

    Ahhh I'm almost jealous lol, because our rattlers out here in my area are all hibernated up for the winter. Yeah sucks when people kill them out of fear or a hatred for them, but good for you. Good to see you do the best you can with the one's you catch.

    • @TobiesTroop
      @TobiesTroop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Soon enough and you will be seeing more rattlers than we do again... and more species! If we ever make it to call would be great for you to show us some species we have notnseen! We just have edbs around us, but with the lack of diversity we at least have the biggest species in the world 🌎

    So serious question (and bear in mind I'm hardly an expert on pet monkeys but did grow up [unfortunately] in a home with an idiot older sister convinced having a spider monkey as a pet was a great idea) here....but my sister was finally ordered by our parents and authorities (she featured him in a school play......Noah's ark I believe?) ordered him turned over to a local zoo in New Jersey where we resided many years ago but not after numerous bad bites and other antics.........has Tobie ever seriously bitten either one of you guys?? He mock bites allot especially with Taylor and maybe his breed or upbringing was better.........but after many nips and scratches after trying to befriend and be affectionate with my sister's supposed tame spider monkey......it's very apparent that pet monkeys is not for everyone!! Jim C.

    • @TobiesTroop
      @TobiesTroop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jim! Sorry about slow response its our busy season in south FL. Haven't had much time lately (reason I missed getting a video out this week) for much of anything! Interesting your sister had spider monkey, apparently monkeys were popular pets in the 70s-80s. A friend of mine actually had a monkey sanctuary at the time for all the monkeys who were purchased then given up bc people couldn't care for them. All species are different, but I hear spiders are very gentle, so likely the way the moneky was raised. Taylor has hand raised Tobie since he was like 2-4 weeks old, their bond is very intense! I've been in his life since he was 1, hes now 7. He is very bonded to me, but Taylor is first, second and third priority to him. We play a lot, BUT if he ever thinks I'm hurting Taylor, he gets very serious very fast, loud warning call and jumps between us. Hes never attacked her, but he gave me a small taste of what hes capable of if he thinks your messing with Taylor, hes a tuff 10lb monkey! And it gets tricky bc if Taylor is hurt and I'm helping her hes very defensive and thats when he has been defensive with me.

    • @jimc6687
      @jimc6687 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TobiesTroop Thanks for your great response!! If there's any lesson here in watching your numerous nicely produced and adventurous videos with Tobie the mighty pet monkey in tow........it's that lazy cat owners should never consider getting a pet monkey (unless your name is Taylor and from nearly day one with the imprinting similar to a duckling attachment) since kitties are best at snoozing in the sun in the background but Tobies are terrors of the car and trails and food pantry and most likely your pocketbooks....not to mention challenges your patience and perseverance !! Tobie obviously makes for great interesting copy but at the end of the day I'd be happy to hand the little guy back to his main handlers!! Great videos as I've already stated.........I can see the nice progression of content and editing plus storyline but someone's a great musician or.......has great taste in music!! Jim C.

    • @TobiesTroop
      @TobiesTroop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jim C, exactly a monkey is not for everyone and honestly I don't think just about anyone should ever get a monkey. After Tobie and seeing first hand how intelligent he is has changed my perspective. Animals that are intelligent are more likely to suffer in captivity. We have dedicated our lives to creating the best possible life for Tobie and so much goes on as far as care goes that we don't even scratch the surface in the videos. Hes amazing, fun and all around great, but a huge social, emotional, time consuming financial commitment! Thank you, I do all the filming and editing of our vidoes, I've been learning from square one from TH-cam. I still have a long ways to go and so much more to learn. I have no musical skills at all, I pick out all our music tho!
