    Cutting up a Fabulous book of Brahms! Sacrilege!! Love the beads, but have you no respect for the World's famous composers?? Craft pales in comparison to their genius. Same applies to the great dress patterns of 20yrs ago - and BOOKS!! Some of us grew up with all those things - and gee, life was so much better back then.

    • @TreasureBooks
      @TreasureBooks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +127

      I agree that craft pales in comparison to their genius. However I am not cutting up the man or his compositions. I am cutting up paper that I found in the free section of the thrift store, along with other items that were going to be put in the bin in no-one picks it up. Not sure what I should do with it. Frame it? Sell it? Open a museum? I see there are a lot of them for sale on Ebay. Now with the great dress patterns of 20 years ago - that was the 2000s... I definitely don't see that as sacrilege. In terms of books - give your local library a call and ask how many books they destroy a year. Go to a thrift store and ask them. I was in an second hand shop just the other day, and the lady was taking books OFF the shelf. She said, "its so sad that no one is buying books anymore, and we have to get rid of books". I think they should give them out for free. But its 'against the policy'. So, what do they do? They throw them out as rubbish together with all the other stuff they can't sell. The books don't even get recycled! Now that is something I would get riled up about. And when was life better? When women couldn't vote? When their place was in the kitchen? At least they weren't cutting up a fabulous book of Brahms, I suppose.

      @TreasureBooks well said...but just ignor the haters...they are the first to jump on their " soap box" ( talk about stepping back in time lol)... at 75 I had problems tearing my first book page but as I get them the same way you do I feel they are being given a new lease on their life instead of it being destroyed.... keep up the great work..

      @@TreasureBooksI have seen the same thing! Taking books off the shelves, tearing off the covers only to be trashed. When I asked why can’t they be donated or SOMETHING, they said they’re not allowed. It’s a shame!

    I have a large stash of paper beads, and many precut strips. Recently I made a basket out of my beads for my craft table to keep items in as I work on different projects. Looks pretty neat. Good to have creative things around you as you are planning new ideas. Maps also make cool beads. :)

      How do you make a basket with your paper beads?

    • @juliaarmato3984
      @juliaarmato3984 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@diananighswonger441 I made square beads with flattened paper tubes. I wrapped them around the bottom of a squared nail polish bottle to keep the same in size. When dried, I used a piece of cardboard for the bottom, and hot glued them together, with spaces in between each square. Alternating spaces with each row. When I was finished with this, I used thin copper wire and hung small paper beads in each hole. It looks cool, but it was tedious and took a long time. Good luck. God bless.

    Hi. I loved watching you. I used to make paper beads many years ago. I had so much fun. When I started I was using just white paper and colored markers. Then I used glitter markers. Those were really pretty.i just fiddled around with paper and sizes and colored markers and gutter markers and I messed up alot but this craft isn't expensive. I remember when I made my first necklace. I was just thrilled. As for the jewelry ' I started buying jewelry bags at the thrift stores and Goodwill. You can use so many things off broken necklaces and bracelets. I had a ball one day's I went to a garage sale a few blocks from my house and she had these boxes full of jewelry. Alot of it was new but cheap but really pretty. These boxes were about 8 inches high, 10 inches wide and 8 inches deep and they were packed. Of course they were taped close and 40 dollars a box. Well I bought 1 and left and ent around the corner and opened it. The lady said that there was a little gold and silver in them. Well I figured they had been through. I did find some gold rings, earrings, necklaces, chains. I went back and purchased 4 more boxes for 20 dollars a piece. I still have boxes full in my room. Some time I might use them for something. There was beautiful beads in them. Clasps and different closures. I really loved your video and I've never made any long beads. You can buy a small paper roller but I did best with my fingers. Thank you so much for all your information and what beautiful. Work. God bless you.

    One way of making your life easier when using glitter is to have a cheap fluffy makeup brush. Dip it on the glitter and sprinkle over the piece using some parchment paper on the table, fold the paper and put the leftovers back on the container. If you fancy, put the leftover on another container and start making a mixed blend for fun! A cheap fan brush can help clean the desk too, as it has long spaced brissels it won't keep many glitter in between. I just got a cheap makeup kit on Daiso to use for random craft and it is wonderfully useful for a lot of stuff.

This channel is sooooooo good at it (i.e. at making me roll), the author has a production manager’s talent. Foam working station + paper clip instrument - an extremely valuable idea. I want to go shop for cheap nail polish now and see if I have calendars from 2017 😊. But I wish the labels on those transparent storage containers in the video were as beautiful as on junk journals. DIY labels, especially removable (from label holders), is my all-time favorite topic.

    My grandmother taught me how to make paper beads 50 years ago. They were a popular craft of her youth, so they've been around for a long time. I think every generation is able to make it their own by using contemporary printed material--my grandmother used Sunday supplement newspaper to make her beads, so the colors were muted; while we have such high quality magazine, calendar and even junk mail paper and color printing now.

    In Soviet times, we made beautiful curtains, lampshades and chandeliers out of such paper beads... it was very fashionable and beautiful..

    That is so perfect for my daughters and I to do together on rainy days. They are into the Boho effect now in their lives and this is a great addition to that kind of creativity. Thank you again for the inspiration. Maybe bedside lamps with beads as trim and ribbons... Love ALL of your beautiful skills and kindness for sharing it with us.

    U can use a tiny bit of nail polish remover in the bottle of too thick polish, shake it up REALLY good and it will thin it out. And I want to tell you how much I enjoy your videos !!! So much info and enough info to make it look sooo easy too. Thank you for all u do for us.

    What I do, because I like my beads tight as well, is to first put a little Vasoline all over the skewer, work it in. This helps to get a tight bead off the stick. I do this to my drying skewers as well. That way beads that I’ve coated with sealer or varnish will never stick to the stick! ☺️☺️☺️

    I just love this video and it has inspired me to make them again. I have made them before a few years ago and have been collecting papers to make them again. It is fun to make all the different shapes. One thing I found that if you put pva glue all along the paper strip that when it dries the bead is harder and feels less like paper. I also use modge podge to seal beads and then coat with the glitter fingernail polish. This makes a really hard bead. I love adding different colored glitter and combinations are as you say endless.

  • @updosystem
    @updosystem ปีที่แล้ว

    As a beauty pro and artist...a tip to get a more intense glitter is to pour a little of your polish on a paper towel corner. The paper absorbs the clear part giving you a denser glitter. I like to use a tooth pick to apply.

    to make the crayon-shaped one (maybe bullet would be shorter and just as fitting) you probably cut a straight strip like the one of the seamed cylinder, and then cut at an angle for half the length?
    also, other than tassels and key chains, you can also use them as hair beads (especially if you use hair extensions), buttons (the kind that need a cord loop to close), toggle clasp, place markers for knitters and all kinds of yarn workings. You can also make even bigger, chunkier beads and thread them on wooden dowels to make paper towel holders, or even candle holders. you can use the bigger, more spherical beads as ends for wooden dowels that you don't want exposed. you can use the bigger, less colorful (or more colorful, if that is how your taste goes) in macramé wall-art. you can thread lots of them on paper "sticks" or wooden ones, and glue them to pencil holders and flower pots. and you can use the technique to cover all kinds of handles: drawer, serving spoons, serving trays, doors... you do everything the same, just don't take the bead off the base object
