Paper Beads - Antique Effect Tapered Tube Beads - Free Printable Too!

- Paper beads - do you enjoy making them? Do you get bored with the same old look that everyone is doing? If so you might enjoy this video in which I make paper beads with a different look.
Using my blunt ended plastic paper bead template, I have created tapered tube beads. I made this style of bead to give me the taper of regular paper beads on the edges but having the clear space of a tube bead in the middle to leave room to decorate with my paper bead stickers.
Watch the video to see how I gave my paper beads a wooden, antique look - it's easy and fun to do.

I have created this free paper bead strip printable for those people who don't want to take all the steps shown in this tutorial but who want to make beads with a similar look.
All you need to do is get the same paper I have used, download the free printable using the link in my blog post and print it out onto the paper.
Then you need to cut your strips down the black lines I have overlaid on the image, roll the strips into beads and then seal them.
For the more adventurous crafters, you can follow the whole video and create you own papers the same way I did.

LOVE LOVE LOVE from Texas!!!! These beads are beautiful!!! I can't wait to get my craftroom set up. I have to switch out some rooms in my house since my Husband passed away in May and my Mother has just moved in with me to help me keep from having to sell my house. The biggest room will become my future craftroom. The two smaller bedrooms were my craft room and sewing room. Now I can have my crafting and sewing all in one room. I would've rather kept my husband, but now that I need a bedroom for my mom, I am taking advantage of the bigger room for all my creativity. It's taking more effort than I thought it would, I got spoiled to having a strong man around for the last 24 years. I miss him dearly, every day, but hoping that once I can start crafting again, I will feel a little better. Crafting has always been therapeutic for me. I think I will try cutting the paper first then tea dying them so both sides, automatically have the brown edge.

LOVE these beads 💖 have you tried dying with onion skins? Depending on how many you use the amount of water you use, there can be a range from pretty not quite light coffee colour to an orangey colour. Really pretty. I always use the oven, and then press them in a big book under two 3 kilo dumbbell weights.

That’s a great idea Yasmin - thank you. Someone else suggested that a while back. However, doing it that way didn’t work for me as the strips were harder to deal with than whole sheets when they were in the tea. They stuck together and it was too time consuming to fish them out individually, separate the stuck ones without tearing them and lay them all out to dry flat. I found the way of doing the whole sheet quicker and easier for me but other people may find cutting first better for them. Colouring the edges does take time but I find it quite relaxing. To others, it may be a chore though. Thanks so much for reaching out with an idea that people can try for themselves - much appreciated. 🙏💕

What do you use to protect it from dampness? Varnish ?
