Trucking is just an alternative. It’s not for everyone. However, there are many jobs within the industry that pay very well. If you’re a minimum of 18yrs old you can obtain a CDL. Remember to do your research regarding companies, pay, benefits, schedules, etc. You can also still do gig jobs as a side hustle if you wanted to. Just a thought
@@imanthonytv yes I did I worked for western express for four months and I was at transam for a month and a half. Then I told myself I'm done with over the road 😭.
I used to work in a wherehouse and my pay was less than 15 and hour. I would take home just over 400 a week. After getting my CDL earlier this year my pay has quadrupled. It's a great feeling to see results from the investment I made in getting my CDL and hazmat and tanker endorsements. Most importantly as a man I can take care of myself and my wife and daughter. That to me is priceless.
Currently in training through a company paid training program to get my CDL and I will be testing in a couple weeks. I can’t wait to start my career in trucking !!!
Got my class A back earlier this year. It’s been tough finding work in that industry for me especially since I don’t have endorsements which I’m working on. I’m working for UPS at the moment hoping to get an opportunity as a trucker for them down the road.
I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with you if flexibility is what an individual prioritizes. However, if making consistent money and having benefits is important to them I would at least put trucking on my radar.
Trucking welcomes you if you can drive, please don’t think you the local fry cook can drive 18 wheelers.. crashes are at an all time high, start driving for Amazon/fedex van driver
You learn how to drive by driving. You have to get the reps in behind the wheel through experience. Nobody becomes a pro overnight. Even veteran drivers make mistakes. There’s plenty of vids on TH-cam for anyone needing to see proof. I get your point. However, driving a van is nothing like driving a semi. That’s not going to prepare anyone for driving a tractor trailer.
@@imanthonytv All facts however, the hardest thing to learn is the size and maneuverability of larger vehicles. For example when learning to ride a bike you don’t jump on a 1000cc or Harley road glide to learn how to ride. Most people can’t even drive a car safely imagine that person driving 80,000 on our highways. It’s best if one moves up from cars to van/box truck and then tractor trailer, CDL school teaches you to past the test that’s it.
Oh ok yea I am trying to get experience and trying to upgrade my cdl from B to A. Just trying to figure out the best option for me but otr seems to be out of reach for me.
I did dock to driver with saia…i was dockworker for them for a cpl weeks but was waiting on my start date for cdl school thru the wioa in ohio..when i got my start date told saia i need a cpl weeks off cuz im goin to cdl school..Terminal manager told me when i get done wit school if i pass or dont pass i can go thru they driving program..passed and got my cdl, then went to saia driving academy for 5 weeks…cdl school only shows you enough to pass the state test…your hob that you end up getting is posed to train you how to drive trucks

In 15 years you will, it’s all about seniority
Thanks 4 this
I made good $ in a manufacturing job even though i have my cdl
Nobody is hiring right now now in Florida no food service company
I live in FL. Food service companies in my area are hiring.
I also had a driver email me who recently got offered a job at the Plant City FL location (GFS).
@@imanthonytv im in Orlando I apply for Gordon I have 10 years experience being on sysco and us foods but they no calling
Say bruh stop recruiting these folks mane I like to go out and eat in a clean restaurant on my off days 😂

Flexibility of gig is incomparable though. UE, DD, GH, Veho, Roadie

That’s a good point. Consistent money and benefits.

@ryanjackson8898 True
With proper training, the local fry cook can, indeed, learn to operate a semi-truck. Just like anybody else...
@@deucecoop817 Anybody can get a CDL, and for that reason turnover in our industry is high
What’s your advice or the pros and cons of the dock to driver training program for the LTL.
I think it’s a good program for new driver’s in particular to become an LTL driver. Most LTL companies require prior driving experience.

Get your CDL with a plan and not a plan to just drive for ever! Unless you’re not going to mind the long hours until the day you die!
I need those food delivery persons to play their position and stay right where they're at.
You have to do your homework and research
Hey Anthony am trying to get in with Gemini for fuel hauler I got 6 months otr can you hook me up
