Correct. Nothing new or devastating here; This is the normal when the area gets lake effect snow. As evidenced down throughout history. 12/27/22 Buffalo: 49.2 inches in three days The city in western New York got a whopping 55.8 inches of snow this month. The last time Buffalo has received this much snow in a monthly period was back in December 2001, with a whopping 82.7 inches. Watertown: 41.1 inches in three days Another city in New York, Watertown, was pummeled with snow as lake effect bands moved over the area, bringing dangerous blizzard conditions. Copenhagen: 30.1 inches in three days Near Watertown, Copenhagen, a village in New York’s Lewis County, was buried in snow. Driving conditions were so difficult that even snowplows had a tough time navigating the roads, CNN affiliate WWNY reported. Sault Ste. Marie: 10.9 inches in one day.
I've lived in both places, im from rockastle ky. Lived in Buffalo now back in Berea ky. It's alot flatter up there and the roads/mountains hollers here don't get much sunlight to melt everything down so it's awful. Our roads aren't the same as up there either. There more porous up there.
I look at as being a blessing. All fall, we had fire issues and moderate drought conditions in area of NY State. Since the ground hasn’t been able to freeze yet, this will help replenish our water table. Just a way of nature doing its thing.

Massive snowfall is apocalyptic and was unexpected by many folks whose homes are buried leaving them unable to go anywhere except on foot if they’re physically capable!! Will be days before they can shovel their way out unless they’re fortunate to have a snow blower!!! Hope the state or someone will assist them!!

Why in God's name anyone would live there escapes me. It's an ugly area even in summer. And how do those roofs ever support that kind of weight for weeks on end?
@@justmejenny7986 Honestly Jenny I took a few motorcycle trips along the south and east shore of Lake Ontario and truck trips to Watertown to pick up motorcycles in the recent past and found nothing whatsoever beautiful about NY.
@frankcastle5294 you're missing out then. In the summer go to the Finger Lakes region and check out the wine trail. Or Ithaca and it's beautiful gorges. The Adirondack region is beautiful all year round but fall is phenomenal. Central New York is a wonderful fall destination with all the fall festivals, apple orchards and pumpkin patches. And I recommend at least once to experience NYC at Christmas time.
Too old to deal with snowfall amounts like that, but still enjoy seeing it. Thanks for sharing!
Like the look of fresh snow, DO NOT MISS THE NY WINTERS. Was in Oswego College 75-79, brutal
