I've lived in Michigan my entire life and this was one of the worst lake-effect snowstorms I've ever seen. I took a weekend trip to the UP over the weekend and left late Thursday night. It was so slow going, an easy 8 hour drive turned into a 13 hour nail-biter. Made it past Gaylord at 2am which had a record setting snowfall count of 24.8" in one day. The entire UP was also coated in snow, but by that point the plows had gotten out and made it a little easier. At the end of the weekend we took a look at the radar and saw that parts of our trip were expected to receive 6" to 8", so we decided to go through Wisconsin instead (little bit longer but WAAAAAY safer during a bad winter storm). Wisconsin had no snow on the ground and it made us almost forget the stress of the drive up.... Till we got back into Michigan and saw all the snow again

We luck out here for lake effect unless the winds wrap around from the easterly direction. Since prevailing winds generally are northwest. Lake Superior area gets way more lake effect then we do in the Milwaukee metro area.
I'm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dead center. As of today I only have 4 inches. But munising and east / north of there got hammered. I'm In Trenary
Here in Suttons Bay we got around 18"-24" since Thursday night. I have been plowing for five days straight with around 20 hrs of sleep in those five days. But this is nothing compared to what we used to get 20-25 years ago. Winter of 95 or 96 we got something like around 8ft. I love winter in Northern Michigan nothing better
Here in central Arkansas my whole family is praying for lots of snow here.. btw I hope you and your family Were not effected by hurricane Helene. Prayers for Tennessee and North Car. And for everyone effected by Helene
God, that lake effect snow makes it so tempting to move to the northeast. It's freezing in central fl this week. I had ice on my windshield 3 out of 4 days so far. It's 50 now lol. That's cold for here. Usually still around 80
Got some snow in the Charlotte NC area the other night. First time I’ve seen snow here in years. Was nice to see. When I was growing up, we’d always get atleast 1 or 2 good snowfalls a year. For the last 4-5 years now, I’ve only seen it snow once or twice. Also, this might be the earliest I think I’ve ever seen it snow here. Maybe it’s a precursor to a winter with a lot of snowfall? Hopefully! Stay warm folks!
60+ inches in Saybrook Ohio Ashtabula County...Lakeside high-school roof collapsed, I've been plowing since Thanksgiving evening with about 12 hrs of sleep ....With rain today it will be all ice by morning plus about another 10inces of snow on top of what it on the ground already, residential roofs are caving in as well ...
Boston hasn’t had a good snow in YEARS, we are always on the cusp of rain/snow and always end up with sleet or rain. Hoping for some legit snow this year.
It got down in the 20's here in the E. TN foothills and about 2" of snow last night into this afternoon, so I KNOW the TN/NC mountains are WAY worse. Please keep my neighbors to the east of me in your 🙏❤️🙏!!
Yep up here in Michigan my NWS office, NWS Gaylord recorded the record for snowfall in 24hr for Nov 29th! 25 inches! Wowzas! Also 45in total since Nov 28th! Thank you for the info and vid as always Ryan! Y’all Squad ROCKS ❤
It’s still snowing in Mentor, Ohio. I’m watching it accumulate on the apartment complex’s roof next to mine. According to the weather channel, we got 94” on Friday, 20” on Saturday, and 99” on Sunday. I took screenshots because I am in shock. Lake County is in a state of emergency as of yesterday night and the county offices are closed.
Well I checked my local radar and Clarksville Tennessee will be getting snow ❄️❄️❄️ Praying for all the people in East Tennessee and North Carolina who still have no homes we are thinking of you all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Northern Marylander here! I run my own vendor/birthday party entertainment business with my Flemish Giant rabbit and we are scheduled to attend an outdoor Christmas event on a farm on December 7th and we are preparing for the cold! I had to get permission from the event host to have my van at my tent so I can plug in space heaters and heat mat for my bunny. He can tolerate cold temperatures, but without heat sources, this is going to be uncomfortable for him. I've also purchased a sweater for him that I can tuck his ears into, because that's how rabbits regulate their temperature. We aren't used to temperatures this cold this early! And normally it's a lot more humid in Maryland - but this drought has resulted in a bitterly, dry cold.
@yurichan5368 Yea, one big gust of wind flipped my tent out of its 40 pound weights on one side into the neighbor tent. My tent didn't break, but the neighbors did. Not many people ended up coming out because it was just too cold, sadly.
My heart is heavy for the people suffering from Helene. Some are living in tents waiting for help to rebuild. These people need help desperately. Instead of sending more money to foreign countries, how about helping our own first?
drove thru Gaylord Michigan on Saturday pulled into the rest stop and the snow was up to the window of my truck so probably forty inches or more of snow and it was still snowing like a banshee
I heard a Yinz in here! When he said "I hope yinz all had a happy Thanksgiving " I love that! That's something you hear around western Pennsylvania! Well, I hope yinz all a merry Christmas!
Im over on the Lower Eastern Shore. I was totally shocked to look out the security cams at work yesterday evening to see flurries and snow on vehicles. Had melted by time the shift ended at midnight but still...
Man I miss snow, I'm here on the eastern part of maryland, over the bay, and I don't know if its related to the bay or ocean or what, but it rarely snows here despite getting very cold.
I miss this, really! I grew up NE OH as a child through 1971 (12 yrs) Eastlake to Geneva, I come back for visits. My family have all posted pics. I almost drove up for Thanksgiving. I’ll take some here in Birmingham, AL… Shelby County side🙋🏻♀️
I couldn't believe it has taken 22 years to get from my area to the St. Lawrence seaway area ! 1978, we received over 6 + feet of snow ! Uppers told me in 2000 that when it reaches the SLS, our weather will then become balanced. This is the first year our first snow blast was a dry one (6") vs. a wet, sloppy one ( 17" packed )! Mid Michigan area along Lake Michigan.
Up here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it’s just socking in as we speak. Was quiet all day, wind kicked up around 2:00 pm, but the sun burned through for a bit even, got a chance to preemptively shovel last nights few inches, but it’s goin, snowin and blowin now. Gotta get up at 4:00 am to plug the truck in and start shoveling for the morning commute, fingers crossed for the wife and I.
It’s actually not all that weird for there to be major lake effect slams off Lake Erie at this time of year, or even earlier (November, or even October), as Erie is very shallow for a Great Lake and releases its heat earlier. I find it intriguing that the Lake Ontario slam (Watertown etc) is north of where you usually find the bullseye (Tug Hill), wondering what that’s about. It’s kind of a rule of thumb that Buffalo and WNY get their big storms before Christmas and Syracuse and Oswego get theirs after Christmas (again, Ontario being much deeper releases the heat more slowly). So, while I’m not shocked about what’s happened in WNY this weekend, I’m a little surprised that Oswego escaped a pounding.
Happy Holidays to the fabulous Ryan Hall Y’all Squad! Thank you for sharing your expertise, compassion, and integrity! You are greatly appreciated - many blessings much love Mother Medicine
Here in northern NM…we really really need this awful La Niña pattern to flip . springtime temps and no snow is going to make things really difficult come summer ….hoping you can alert us when it changes
Dec 2009 i’ll never forget the ice storm, blizzard, and Thunder Snow that rocked the Ohio River Valley! Lost a dear friend at that time and figure it was his way of saying farewell ❤
Kentucky doesn’t need another tornado in December. Especially in my hometown of Dawson Springs, KY. There has been two tornados hit most of the same spots.
I live in western massachusetts, it's going to be rain from any where below the mountains. Any time snow approaches the Connecticut river. It warms up by 5 to as much as 10 degrees f.
My kids and I gave been really happy to see snow this "early" in the season in central Maine. It feels like we've had only rain and above 50° in Decembers of the past couple years
At about 2:30 PM on Monday 2 December in Wytheville VA there were a few lonely flakes falling from a very dedicated cloud. There were a few fields along I-81 in SWVA that still had some recent snow in the shadows.
Looks like another warm December here in western Kentucky 😭. I want snow darn it. Didn’t even get the dusting that happened over the weekend. Snow seems to miss us in Owensboro Ky 😭
As for someone in the middle to lower part of Missouri, I’ve been praying for a big snow here for quite some time now. I really would love to have 1 good snow like NY just had recently. Thanks for the update Ryan! 😊

Your son is such a cutie!!
Thanks for all of the hard work you and your team put into your forecasting. More accurate than my local guys. 😂👍🏻
Thanks guy and it's nice to see you with a little sleep under your belt
213" of snow? I don't know...
18 feet of snow in the past 3 days ?
You're gonna need a bigger Y'all-o-Meter !!
Well I checked my local radar and Clarksville Tennessee will be getting snow ❄️❄️❄️
Praying for all the people in East Tennessee and North Carolina who still have no homes we are thinking of you all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Woo Hoo ‼️ My favorite weather man ‼️ Thank you Ryan and the Y'all squad ❣️
Storms in December raise my anxiety here in Kentucky. Give us all the snow but please no severe weather Ryan😭
You got this Kentucky don't be scared be prepared 😅
They release surfactants from planes that mess with the moisture in the atmosphere so they can guide storms.
southern marylander here havent seen much other than LOTS of wind and lots of cold!
@yurichan5368 Yea, one big gust of wind flipped my tent out of its 40 pound weights on one side into the neighbor tent. My tent didn't break, but the neighbors did. Not many people ended up coming out because it was just too cold, sadly.
Y'all -a-meter may be busy this winter...😊... thanks Ryan for the update
On the last day of November we had a light snow flurry in Clarksville TN
Echo is so stinking cute! The excitement on his face ❤
Greetings from Virginia!!! We are just waiting for some snow. Thank you for posting!!!!
Same!
Also from Virginia and yeah! Manifesting at least one big snow for us 🙏
My heart is heavy for the people suffering from Helene. Some are living in tents waiting for help to rebuild. These people need help desperately. Instead of sending more money to foreign countries, how about helping our own first?
Fema temporary housing is still open I believe
Instead of using your money to buy more crap for Christmas send that money to help those still struggling.
I saw where Tiny Homes are going up for some in NC . I pray they have enough . 🙏
That would require them to relocate defense funds into welfare.
But they would prefer to do the opposite..
@@vadimnesen8060there are lots of people still stuck in tents in North Carolina and East Tennessee.
Dear Jesus please be with all the people without heat find warmth hold them in Your heart & keep them warm In Jesus Name, Amen 🙏 ❤❤

Your coverage is fantastic. We live in CO. I'm from MN, my girl from AZ, kids in MT, FL, AZ, and CO. You have us all informed.
Thank you Ryan for your perfect forecast I’ve been watching you for about 3 years now and you’ve been on point
70’ and sunny here in Quartzsite Arizona 👍😎🤠
❤❤❤
Jealous!! 70's are my favorite 😍
@
I chase that temp all year!👍🤠
I’ll be there for January. I hope the weather holds up. How cold are your nights?
drove thru Gaylord Michigan on Saturday pulled into the rest stop and the snow was up to the window of my truck so probably forty inches or more of snow and it was still snowing like a banshee
Yep. If they ever had to deal with a lake effect snow, they’d never want snow again!!
I heard a Yinz in here! When he said "I hope yinz all had a happy Thanksgiving " I love that! That's something you hear around western Pennsylvania! Well, I hope yinz all a merry Christmas!
Just waiting for some snow here in Maryland! Thanks Ryan for everything you do. My family loves you. ❤
Same, my daughters don't believe me when I told them we used to get big snowstorms here in MD 😂
Im over on the Lower Eastern Shore. I was totally shocked to look out the security cams at work yesterday evening to see flurries and snow on vehicles. Had melted by time the shift ended at midnight but still...
@ it’s either the snow is a small amount and fluffy, or a lot icy snow.
@ Oh nice! I’m over by Annapolis.
@@westxn Same! I'm from Upper Marlboro and I was excited we got some flurries. We need some actual snow this year
Man I miss snow, I'm here on the eastern part of maryland, over the bay, and I don't know if its related to the bay or ocean or what, but it rarely snows here despite getting very cold.
Your child is so adorable!!! 😊
Thank you for your good information!
Just put out my TN Y'all-o-Meter last night! Thanks, Ryan ❄️
Our weather apps said nothing about snow in the Piedmont of NC. But you called it! 👍🏻
Right around the 2:50 mark in your video…
Thank you from Nashville TN! I don't miss your videos for the world!! ❤💪🏻❄️
Thanks Ryan... 🥶 in Kentucky 💙
I am in Kentucky as well 🐎
Thank you Ryan & YALLSQUAD
When will it snow here in Minnesota haha? Thank you Ryan for all you dow!! We love you up here!!
Thanks for the awesome coverage Ryan! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Here in northern NM…we really really need this awful La Niña pattern to flip . springtime temps and no snow is going to make things really difficult come summer ….hoping you can alert us when it changes
Haven’t had a good snow here in NYC in years. 🙏🏻
hope it stays that way. hate cold and snow 🥶
@@pattiannepascual💯
Dec 2009 i’ll never forget the ice storm, blizzard, and Thunder Snow that rocked the Ohio River Valley! Lost a dear friend at that time and figure it was his way of saying farewell ❤
California, the west coast hoped you would give us a look again. Oh well Happy Holidays Ryan to you and your family.👋
It was time to get my Yall a Meter I have been watching you for years. I found you during a snow storm it is time to get the big stick.
Kentucky doesn’t need another tornado in December.
Especially in my hometown of Dawson Springs, KY. There has been two tornados hit most of the same spots.
I live up a little bit in southern ontario, we've had not a snow day at school but a snow week, thank god for delivery drivers
WNC here, no thanks to the snow, cold is bad enough. Nows not the time, thanks 😅
I live in western massachusetts, it's going to be rain from any where below the mountains. Any time snow approaches the Connecticut river. It warms up by 5 to as much as 10 degrees f.
Here in Ohio where I live there is no snow on the ground or roads.I live towards the snow belt but not to far from the edge of where it stops
My kids and I gave been really happy to see snow this "early" in the season in central Maine. It feels like we've had only rain and above 50° in Decembers of the past couple years
We had thundersnow in Dunkirk NY!!!
At about 2:30 PM on Monday 2 December in Wytheville VA there were a few lonely flakes falling from a very dedicated cloud. There were a few fields along I-81 in SWVA that still had some recent snow in the shadows.
Dude I want some snow ❄️❄️❄️ 🤞 visiting the South for a week or two it would be really awesome to see some flurries !!
Looks like another warm December here in western Kentucky 😭. I want snow darn it. Didn’t even get the dusting that happened over the weekend. Snow seems to miss us in Owensboro Ky 😭
Excellent reporting 🎉
Thank y'all for the great work you do
💙💙👍💙💙❄️❄️❄️
As for someone in the middle to lower part of Missouri, I’ve been praying for a big snow here for quite some time now. I really would love to have 1 good snow like NY just had recently. Thanks for the update Ryan! 😊
I hate the cold, I'm ready for summer again.
I’m in SW, Michigan and we only got about 3 to 4 inches
Move south
Noooo! The humidity and that heat need to stay away!
@@serenasomerset I'm in the south.
I know right? It's been like a week of cold wintery weather and I'm done with it. I'm ready for early summer to return down here in SC.
I live in central Arkansas and Im very excited about that snow storm that could go east of the rocky mountains and down here around Christmas!!! The most early its snow before that I remember was about December 20th 2 years ago
Thank you Ryan. I always look forward to your forecasts!
No snow for us in n ga. So sunny I got sunburned on face putting up Xmas lights. Intense sun even at 45 degrees.
Hey Ryan! Your puns are great, keep em coming
We live 40 miles south of Chicago and it is sooo cold here already. 22 - 25 degrees. 12 degrees overnight. No snow though, thank goodness!
