This is the kind of blues rhythm lesson I was looking for. You're one of the few giving clear lessons for intermediate and advanced players. You don't assume too much and you don't hold people's hands too much. You're both clear and concise. Love it.
You were already my favourite instructor in Truefire and this TH-cam Channel is great I am now sticking to you only as instructor and progressing a bit faster by looking and imitating how you play and use your hands.
Got my 1st guitar in 1967. It may as well have been a do it yourself Apollo 13 kit. But because I love Music, and wasn't happy just listening to it, I learnt to play a little. And then that wasn't enough . It is only when you can Be the music that you will be happy. Thanks, Cory, TH-cam, and every other Muso who helped lead me to Paradise.
Wow, really good stuff. I wish I knew this back in my playing days... (46 years ago) - I did a lot of comping back then, playing with horns, but I never thought of this approach.
Sweet Corey, these shapes were a lightbulb for me this week. It’s super powerful to be able to find “triads” of the 1 3 and b7 on adjacent strings all over the neck and build it into comping. Love this lesson which reinforces a very important concept. Love it man.
As always, wow 😯! I know it’s slow grind to the top for guitarists on TH-cam, but I seriously think Corey’s channel will just hit and tipping point of exposure and get to half a million subscribers in record time; you can only mine gold for so long before the town’s people take notice!
Corey your lessons are golden. I hope you know how much you help us all understand the possibilities of the blues which are much deeper than most people think. Thank you and keep them coming. Much appreciated.
For some reason Corey, I've found your lessons in 2021 absolutely fantastic. I don't know what it is but your joy for the guitar shines through and speaks to me. I've subscribed, but I may go in for more. Excellent.
Corey that was an amazing lesson. Believe me that with the things i new already those shapes were exactly what it was missing in my playing. You took me to the next level.. You are a Top teacher on TH-cam..
I play that 4 string version of the D7 all the time but never thought of the 3 string voiciing inside it you showed. So simple, yet powerful. Thanks so much for your lessons Corey.
You always have such an elegant and clear way of explaining concepts. It's been an honor to support your efforts (and roof construction). The courses with Papa are excellent, too.
OH Man!!! Corey I hope I am not bugging you with all these praises but you do such a good job describing a lesson that goes somewhere in a practical way. I am very much appreciative!!! Please, Please keep it up. You are awesome!!!!
Great lesson! Love these partial chord shapes, and you are right Sir, they do sound more Pro! Importantly they allow the bass and drum groove to shine. they allow you to jump out into lead lines.
Great lesson on economizing one's effort while improvising rhythm chops. This is covered in detail, and expanded upon, in your course "Intermediate Blues Guitar Lessons-Rhythm", which is offered on your website and streamed through Udemy. What's great about that course are the tab and backing tracks. Once a person goes through a lesson video, you are able to play a backing track and improvise along and repeat it (with the tab if needed) until it becomes second nature. Then "By George! You've got it!" Multiple keys, dominant 7th, 9ths, etc.. And once the course is complete you can go back and jam to the backing tracks at will. Totally awesome!
My first visit to your channel. Really enjoyed it. I’ve been using some triads for 3 years or so but only recently discovered the minor triad for example. I needed a dom7 triad. I found your approach really helpful
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed. If you’re interested my TH-cam lessons in one place, you can check this out for free. Best of luck! www.workingclassguitar.com/courses/enrolled/1792849
I like that you pointed out that these smaller 3 note chords work well when you have a bass player, but for a trio without a bass player you probably want the bigger chords with the root, and substituting the fifth for flavor.
Thanks Corey, I'm just getting into the world of triads and this is going to help me find those chords that you have laid out in this lesson - Very Much Appreciated!
Man Corey! Every-time I see a video of yours I'm like "bah, another video lesson by a youtuber" - then I watch anyway and it totally fills a gap in my playing that you found. So good - many thanks for all your tipps & tricks! Keep on recording stuff for us :-)
Nice work. Great to get use to playing different shapes. Good way to stay out of other players way. Find a little place where you can add something without stepping on other players.
Awesome t-shirt Corey!!! Love that album, it's so insane how modern and hip that sounds to this very day. Looping/sampling type sounds in 1966... crazy stuff and the lyrical content too. OK, now let me get back to listening to the lesson :-)
Corey great rhythm and blues techniques lesson. Thanks for the backing track. Awesome mix of swing, funk, jump, blues 💙. And goodbye barre chords. These little chord shapes are more fun to play. Wished I learned them years ago.
Cool fun lesson Corey. If people like this, then more of the same is to be found on Corey's Beginner and Intermediate blues rhythm courses. I have gotten a lot from them. Same great teaching style, more in depth content, all very well explained and demonstrated.
wow!!! man that was so awesome your cool techniques is an eye opening. Only intelligent & talented guitarist like yourself can make complicated things simple..

So many lessons on scales, licks, and ripping solos. This stuff is so important and surprisingly hard to find put together like this! Thanks!
Corey, you are the best of blues rhythm teaching. Thank you.

Appreciate that so much!
It's a nice thing to know how you approach creating chord progression. Keeping it tight and closely knitted.
I love how you always show where the smaller chord shapes come from. Thanks Corey!
And what a "trail of crumbs" this is! Gold nuggets, I'd say! Corey, you're the best, man.
Corey that was an amazing lesson. Believe me that with the things i new already those shapes were exactly what it was missing in my playing. You took me to the next level.. You are a Top teacher on TH-cam..

I use them as the only guitarist a lot too. It’s all about having more arrows in your quiver and when to use them! Thx for that comment!
Thank you, Corey!! Some more extremely good tips from my favorite guitar teacher!!
