Not gonna lie , i would prefer above and beyond over this episode, it's not because its bad per say but because the other one is so much more impactfull ,aside from that scene with ben reviving everyone , this is a good episode in my eye ,while the other one is easy top10 best episodes in the franchise, but thats my opinion i suppose. But hey , can't go below good with mr kuro and his breakdowns so 😁
"Why does Vilgax's ship look purple and not red like in the old show?" Because Vilgax uses RGB lights and felt like purple that day. We just saw red in the old show cause he felt like it at the time.
The moment he said "give me chromastone" his character was immediately broken to me, old tetrax would probably just explain everything calmly to Ben seeing how they already know eachother and he is aware that Ben trusts him and considers him a friend
Tetrax, the guy who hunted Ben for a whole episode before explaining he's on the good side, would have explained everything calmly? I'm sorry, but that's bullcrap, Tetrax was desperate to redeem himself and the time to save the planet was running short, of course he wouldn't waste time trying to explain!
ok i have to ask.. what was the whole point of " Vilgax getting banned from Earth " is he's just gonna come back when ever he feels? this is the second time since the season started that he just pops on in.. why are there not dozen of Plumers watching out for earth, or better yet why didnt they take him down after Ben beat him. He Destroyed Planets for god sakes. why is this space squid still flying through space?
I feel like that vilgax has some form of diplomatic immunity because of his status on his own planet. Plus it's not like he is coming down to conquer it so I think he has to pass by customs
I hate that this is Tertrax’s last episode. He was such an important and memorable character from the original series, but this episode didn’t do him any justice.
I think the reason Vilgax shines in Classic as opposed to UAF- and especially Omniverse- is that he's an actual threat. Yes, he's still beaten by Ben- a ten-year old Ben, at that- but Ben is still reasonably scared of him. From UAF and beyond, he's either arrogant or annoyed with Vilgax, and that downgrades his character, because if the protagonist doesn't take him seriously, why should we, the audience, take him seriously as well?
@@kermitgotthesickkicks4265 yeah. Classic vilgax was so menacing, he had such a presence. UAF I'll just headcanon as his bratty son pretending to be him and trying to take down Daddy's mortal enemy to make him proud, and omniverse did him okay. They played him for humor a bit too much.
@@limarien6405 there was also the entire episode where they confused some plumber, not an alien police man, a normal plumber, for vilgax in OV, I don't hate Ov as much as others but man was that stupid, also the big chill redesign, like, why is he buff?
@@daggerfly0087 I like most of the ov designs. I don't prefer most of them, but I like them. Bill Gacks was kinda funny at first but then it got old real fast.
I feel really bad for Tetrax, he was always one of the coolest characters not just from classic, but Ben 10 as a whole. I hate how not only did this episode didn't really do anything cool with his character, but this was the last time we really saw Tetrax ever. I wished they had brought him back and actually made him more like how he acted in classic, its likely just CN learning the wrong lessons from problems that they created, not Dwayne or any of the writers who actually cared about Ben 10. I also think Chromastone's concept could've been better if he was a member of an actual species who in some way are related to the Petrosapians, sorta like how you guys interpreted Saiyans as Kryptonians who just adapted and evolved in a different environment, like the planet caused the Crystalsapians to develop different abilities and appearances, whilst still retaining some features from Petrosapians
Another few things that bother me about this episode: -remember that whole “banished from Earth” thing? Welp, Vilgax can now just drop by with every hostile intention and nobody gives a shit. -that crystal was so fucking powerful it could destroy and rebuild a whole planet and Vilgax was so adamant about getting it back… and it never came up again. I guess he just likes how it looks on his shelf. -how the hell are they breathing in an unfinished crystal planet with no apparent atmosphere
the crystal can't rebuild the planet. it's a power source, yes but without the power of a stellar alignment it's not that powerful. additionally, it appears to have run out of what power it had even back when Tetrax first stole it. them breathing isn't really an issue. if the planet can't be brought back so can the atmosphere. Sugilite was getting ready to revive the population which probably means he was done with the atmosphere.
As much as I wanted above and beyond to have a full breakdown, I know people mostly voted because its Tetrax last major appearance. Can’t say I blame them
I actually don’t mind this episode. I like the idea of Chromastone being a sort of Jesus like figure to petropia, it makes him special. But then again, Chromastone is like one of my favorite aliens ever made so I do have my biases.
Maybe Jesus isn’t the only child of God, and he has alien brothers and sisters throughout the universe, trying to save their own civilizations from sin.
I'm thinking of it like a GhostFreak Situation where the DNA of this Long Lost Alien Protector of Petropia's last remaining sample is in the Omnitrix as a Backup since he's the only one capable of using the Crystal
@@inc3000 don’t forget the ultimate alien forms who came to life and convinced Ben to “sacrifice” himself so they could be free from the Ultimatrix. Were they brought to life by some glitch? Albedo invented that watch.
The fact that they never bring up the Crystal Jesus stuff again only makes this episode even worse. You'd think this would eventually lead into Chromastone being up there with one of the most powerful aliens Ben has ever had, but no, we never learn ANYTHING about Chromastone's other powers beyond flying and all the other things we've already seen him do. And then by Omniverse he gets completely overshadowed by Feedback (hot take: Chromastone should've been the one who defeated Maltruant). They literally might as well have made Mor-Otesi canon just to make sure Chromastone really isn't anything special.
I like it. Because it gives petrosapiens more interesting implications. Do you know how termites and other hive creatures sometimes have incredibly various bodyplans? A guard termite, acid termite, claw termite, worker, queen etc. etc. Imagine if petrosapiens have a similar thing, having certain individuals of a different 'cut' to suit certain roles. And in that regard , Chromastone could be a failsafe of the spieces.
Interesting implications that never get built on after this point. That's not even mentioning how poorly executed this episode and the concept was either way
Reminds me of the latter cartoon, Steven Universe, but the Petrosapiens are slightly more interesting as they are. Definitely more inhuman than Gem Ligh bodies.
@@eldesconocidosenork5981 I've always wondered what kind of Gem the Omnitrix's DNA sample of one would be, if it isn't an Upchuck situation where Ben could turn into everyone
Sick diamondhead should have green crystals whose are weaker and easily destructible. Sick Humongousaurs should have shrinking instead of growing. Sick Big Chill should be a "water-type" instead of Ice. Sick Echo Echo should instead of replication, accumulate his replication in limbs to make them grow.
The best part of tetrax was that he wasn't just diamond head He was a "noble warrior" who had so much skill that his own natural abilities didn't seem to matter
I see Chromastone/Sugalite as less of a Jesus type character and more of like Petropia's Superman (origin story, very different). Ben 10 has established on multiple occasions that super powered beings are just kind of out there on Earth and this episodes answers "What about other planets?" The answer is yes! Just like Earth having Ben, the Max squad and other common powered individuals, planets like Petropia, where everyone is already crystal beings with powers over said diamonds, has an individual who is of their planet but scales higher than everyone else on abilities. I don't think that makes the Omnitrix less special, it makes Diamondhead and Chromastone incredible lore and connection. It's not like Chromastone could resurrect any alien species he wants, it is an ability limited to JUST the crystalsapiens because they have a Superman! And that Superman is unique enough to be worthy of a DNA sample in the Omnitrix. I just think all this story is really cool, I absolutely agree the execution could have been a lot better.
Classic and to a lesser extent *Vengence of Vilgax* kinda hinted at the notion that superpowered beings, superheroes, and more broadly "planetary guardians" were fairly commonplace in the Ben 10 universe, with the presence of the Galactic Enforcers, the Galactic Code of Conduct, and whatnot. Edit: Superheroes as well
18:38 To me when Vilgax is shooting tetrax with the rainbow beam and Tetrax gets covered in red crystal, it kinda sounds like the Ultimatrix timing out
4 episodes to go in Alien Force. I’m glad Tetrax returned, and I’m sad this was his last appearance (Yes, he did make an appearance on Omniverse, but his alternate counterpart).
I'm so confused on why people didn't choose the time heals episode as a full breakdown it's literally a better episode than all the options we got at least above and beyond as full breakdown instead of this episode
I have the exact same thoughts. That episode has so many scenes that could be broken down and it basically finishes Kevin’s AF mutation story until the finale. It was just a good episode that should’ve deserved a full breakdown.
I personally I have this head canon that tetrax after this episode eventually went to vilgax’s home world and challenged vilgax to a trial via combat like vilgax did with this season’s premiere and actually managed to win stealing vilgaxs powers and taking the planets throne explaining why vilgax in omniverse has none of these powers and why his home planet isn’t brought up anymore since it’s no longer his, it would also explain why we never see tetrax in the main timeline again since I’d imagine running a planet fairly would take up so much of his time.
Yeah, this episode was voted in because people enjoy a good roast. Chromostone being a crystal god was so jarring, that watching it live made me instantly not enjoy it.
I like Chromastone being crystal Jesus. With how much weight people put on Alien X and Way Big, it's nice to have an alien who doesn't have to be OP to get hyped up and threated like a god.
The sickness from Classic was the whole gimmick of that episode, here it's a minor thing, which can explain much less detail put into the alien sicknesses.
Would love to see a "and beyond" episode explaining how Sugilite was just one of a species who gained so much power he was able to create another species and a planet for them and then watch over them, a.k.a. the petrosapiens.
Commentators: complains that Kuro only does full breakdowns of bad episodes Also Commentators: votes for a bad episode when asked Kuro: visible confusion
Yeah I was bothered by Vilgax not looking like his pre-damaged self in the flashback. They had the effort to use his original ship but they couldn't be arsed to make an Alien Force styled version of his pre-damaged self?
2:10 Real crime of this episode was not showing us how Alien Force aliens act while sick, Classic Ben 10 episode where his aliens changed powers due to sickness was one of my favourite, especially when HeatBlast turned into ChillBreath 😢
Honestly, I really do like the idea of Chromastone being a manufactured species/being by the Petrosapiens, and it being the planet's protector is kind of cool, though the whole Crystal Jesus stuff was a bit much And Diamondhead breaking apart to reveal Chromastone underneath actually DOES work when you consider that Diamondhead reformed from Chromastome's pieces, so I like to imagine that when Ben transforms into Diamondhead using Chromastone's hologram instead of Diamondhead's, Chromastone was inside him the whole time.... I think if we hadn't seen the full transformation into Diamondhead, and just seen the flash and then him become Diamondhead, that whole scene would have worked better
I always saw Ben's transformations as the alien DNA morphing him into the alien so his skeleton has to morph into it like the alien itself doesn't have the skeleton but his body morphs into that same before it's complete like it's using the skeleton to support the body while the transformation is going on
25:35 Definitely should've had his own planet. Actually, he had, in the Ben 10 video game "Vilgax Attacks". I personally wish they kept it in line with the game rather than retconning MorOtesi and making this.
It would've been cool if Crystalsapiens and Petrosapiens were more like what they did with the latter in the Reboot. Crystalsapiens should be some kind of offshoot subspecies that harnesses and absorbs energy but lost the ability to manipulate crystals.
I remembered this episode having more scenes on Petropia. And Diamondhead's gauntlet being longer. I do kinda like that he has to run instead of just making stairs for himself. That's like a hero having to climb the mountain with no gadgets to prove himself worthy and learn a lesson. If I rewrote this episode I would probably have this be like Sugilite testing him, and forbidding him from using his powers for anything but defending himself.
Yeah, even when I watched this episode back in middle school, I hated that out of all of Ben's alien forms, Echo Echo is arguably the only one affected by his cold. And even then, the difference is so negligible that it might as well not exist.
I feel like the only reason that people, myself included, voted for this episode was because it was the 1 out of the 5 choices that people remembered the most. Secret of Chromastone would almost always air during AF blocks while the other choices straight up never did (I barely remember Vendetta and Time Heals tbh I'm not even sure if I saw them airing).
For the bit at 10:54: I was thinking the Omnitrix "translated" the carbon based virus into a silicon based one. I don't think human DNA would mean much when it isn't doing much for Ben's transformations, implying there's only a tiny bit and maybe even that it doesn't code for anything beyond the mental stuff. Besides, I'd think that makes more sense than an actual Pyronite getting a human cold just because they've got a bit of human DNA in them.
Personally i like that Chromastone was basically like the jesus of diamondhead’s species. I always found it fascinating when different omnitrix aliens were distantly related to each other, just kinda connects the world building imo. Shame they kinda dropped the ball with the whole plot line of it tho
I feel like Tetrax could've been saved for a different type of episode, I wonder if any of these other characters will make appearance in 5YL and what aspects of their characterization remains from which specific parts of the Ben 10 canon?
I don't think you're giving Sugilite enough credit. I like his character. Like it's not deep, but I like him. I like that he's this benevolent deity, he's proud that the people of Petropia will soon come back. And when anyone else would try to fight off Vilgax, Sugilite tries to appeal to his better nature, which Vilgy doesn't have unfortunately. I like Sugilite. Wish we've seen more of him.
9:30 maybe because it's Chromastone's build, so the transition later looks better or because this Diamondhead is just a shell over Chromastone unlike the one in the classic 9:58 a lot of material came out but the frame is the same
That’s actually really cool, when you showed how to make the alien hologram. It was rough, sure, but you threw it together in 5 or so minutes. Well done.
Personally, I have no idea why they chose bad ones than the good ones when it comes to choosing episodes. As I've said before, this episode is mediocre and okay for mostly Tetrax trying to restore Petropia. And also, of why Ben claimed Diamondhead knows what to do because he lets his subconscious to guide and help him to restore the planet. As for Sugilite, he will continue to serve as guardian of the planet. I mean he is part of Petropia. As for Tetrax's flashback, I would say that the crew members are trying to make it fit in this UAF artstyle, rather than OS style.
I genuinely enjoy this episode Also I like the idea of classic characters seeming different in alien force and ultimate alien because it seems like we view them through Ben as he grows and each character seeming less like a threat than when he was a kid
Tetrax could've come in, said "Hey man I need your help" and Ben would've just said "oh shit, it's my main man Tetrax! Fuckin on it, let's go!" It's like the writers forgot that they're friends and the whole episode Tetrax's personality was just off
Since diamondhead coming back was definitely due to the omnitrix's anti death failsafe. I wonder if it has a failsafe of restoring weakened or "dead" transformations.
Yeah they didn't do anything with Ben being ill effecting his aliens, except diamondhead and humungasaur in a way (similar to four arms but I think four arms got a slight recoloring and the arm pit things?) and yetray was on screen too little really, he could have been slower, different color eyes or laser at least maybe the early time out was an effect? idk also chromastone returns in omniverse at least so that's something I guess, but it not being as much of a continuation I feel like you don't really need to see this episode unless you saw him getting destroyed too ( but at the same time, new omnitrix, new rules, also weird that feedback didn't return with getting a new watch, like why not?)
They explained this in that one episode when Ben meets his younger self. Also the fact that Ben 10.000 exists and his aliens as well. They literally show you that the aliens change depending on who's using the omnitrix.
The most weird thing is I can remember all of the episodes of Classic despite not rewatching them but Alien force and Ultimate Alien is all pretty much a blurr 🤧…
UAF is pretty bad all over it had good things going for it especially in the first two seasons and it grew on me but os and omniverse are more memorable.
16:04 At this point I assume the omnitrix needs to make an update every week. So like an underpaid website developer, it just makes small inconsequential change to look busy. Like changing how it times out.
This episode for me is a prime example of why omniverses new artstyle was genuinely great as they were able to actually design plenty of unique characters and not a 100 diamond head clones
@@shevthegreb757 It had a comic book stylization combined with character designs that were both pleasant to the eyes and realistic. Thus, it created a superhero comic world you could fully immerse yourself into. Omniverse on the other hand looks to weird because they overdid the comic stylization
Thought of something they could have done to further Justify why Vilgax doesn't just 1-shot Sugilite. Being empowered by the Crystal, as well as having the ability to absorb Mana, they could have probably given Sugilite actual Magic and manipulate Mana like Gwen. It would definitely make him more interesting, that's for sure.
16:08 Humongasur with pupils is disturbing also the cut at 9:39 but I do want to know what more Sugilite is capable of since he displays alot more abilities then what Ben does. It would be cool to see Suglilte mentor Chromastone being the only 2 of their kind
I am glad you covered this episode because personally I found it so freaking confusing i thought i didn't understand it but it just turns out...its just stupid. Also pretty much convinced now that they wanted vilgax to be a discount darkside from dc comics and didn't even know how to do that
@@LilacSreya oh man wish you asked 2 years ago when i was still in the exact same mindset but after rewatching the video i think i remember what I was thinking when i made this comment. For me it just never made sense how this episode reinvents the importance of chromastone into to being an artificially made savior for the protosapian race. it just brings up a lot of questions namely, How was he made? Why was he inserted into the omnitrix, and not just an independent agent? If the omnitrix ever fell in the wrong hands welp there goes a whole race's chance at a second chance. how is it that a crystal that seemingly was separate from the omnitrix somehow ended up "INSIDE" of the omnitrix specifically in the form of one of ben's transformations? vilgax seems very convinced its the same crystal in his possession so did someone steal it from him, did he lose it? or is it a copy or product of the original so he also wants to have it? and how does having the chroma-stone of the prophecy be the same construct from the omnitrix really serve the larger story or ben's character? as kuro stated, this event pretty much has no impact afterwards, ben never uses chroma-stone again, tetrax never returns in this conunity, and it just feels empty all in all. For me, all these issues stem from the haphazard choice to make chroma-stone unique in the manner that they did. with very little concrete explanation, just excusing all the questions that arise from this not following any established rules or patterns the show established. I hope that clears it up for yeah, but the episode just needed to more clearly thought out. and if expanding on it would have lead it to being too extensive for a oneshot episode...then i think maybe this wasn't the best episode to make into a one shot adventure.
"Wow, Chromastone is so cool and full of potential. I wonder how they'll explore it further?" (Chromastone gets 3 appearances in Omniverse, 2 of which are cameos, and 1 is 30 seconds long and is mostly talking)
As a Chromastone fan, I'm still pissed they sidelined him for Feedback. To add salt into the wound, they made Feedback this "OMG he was Ben's favourite alien, he's so important guys" alien, and then added even more salt by having him upstage Chromastone in the final episode, right after Chromastone for a horrible redesign. It's bullshit.
Hope my perception of your rejuvenation is not only in my head. I’m non nerd talk, looks like you’re doing better and have more energy, Kuro. This new format seems like the way to go.
14:55 right!? it would be a cool nod to the classic, but I guess fighting Vilgax and trying to deal with his powers acting weird at the same time might be too much stuff happening at once and that's not even the focus of the episode, if they wanted to do that it should be it's own episode with a minor villain like in the classic, but then again what's the point in making him sick in this episode anyways
@@ksoundkaiju9256 Kuro's Ultimate Chromastone was the coolest thing ever. I hope he makes Ultimate Alien X soon. I wanted to see Ultimate Alien X more than anything.
There aren’t any episodes that I’d say I hate and there are some episodes that are bad which I agree with you Kuro, but I do have to say that the episodes are still fun to enjoy watching as a fan not as a critic. I do appreciate how you keep your breakdowns genuine without causing bad commotion (in my opinion)
The number of questions Kuro asked in this episode, in fact in all season 3 episodes, I don't think even the writers would have answers to it. It is frustrating when even the simple things aren't explained.
This is more powerscaling and less about the episode, but did Sugilite just cross the galaxy in only a few hours? Because that's an insane feat which was done just casually.
I voted for this one in the poll because I thought it was the strangest out of the five options, and so would give Kuro a lot of material to dissect and discuss. Seeing the breakdown now, I feel satisfied with the result.
Although I voted for Time Heals and my brother voted for Primus. I actually wanted you to pick this one apart after hearing you bringing this episode up quite some times
I really do love this episode. Mainly because Chromastone is my favorite alien. But tbh, some parts of the episode raises more questions than answers. And seeing how vilgax was portrayed in this episode, it's just hard to watch. Also, Ben not using Chromastone for the rest of season 3, what the actual hell.
I actually thought Feedbacks return made sense, yes it was said Malware “destroyed” his dna sample, but what does malware do to things like that? He absorbs them into himself, and what did he do with Ben before he re-unlocked the alien? He stuffed Ben inside himself. My thought was always that the omnitrix picked up on the remnant dna in malware’s system while inside of him itself and was able to reabsorb it, or something like that.
Wonder if the omnitrix has a restore damaged sample feature. Like how it has a ben must not die feature(chromastone becoming diamondhead as an example)
I like that Chromastone and Diamondhead are connected, because that feels right, but I don’t like the way it was done. I would’ve had the crystalsapiens be another species from Petropia and Sugilite be their species’ equivalent of Tetrax as a last survivor kind of deal.
It was so disappointing after Classic established having a Cold messed with Ben's transformations that this episode would either do nothing with that info or just genericness. I also hate how every other appearance of Vilgax this season builds and work off each other and then this appearance is just thrown in there too
"...Only the bad episodes were getting full breakdowns, while the good ones were getting quick reviews. But when I gave ya' all the chance to vote, you choose one of the worst episodes in the season." Democracy at its finest.
12:08 - almost, remember that Chromastone is purple and pink, but then they had Sugilite shift hues from pink to red to make it fit. I love me some red but I was always disappointed because Chromastone's palette just looked so much better with pink. I guess with his association with being prismlike and have powers represented through rainbow colors, him shifting hues like that isn't totally out of nowhere. Nitpicking but also it was a cluster of fat ruby-red points, not a singular neat gem stick. Also, Tetrax described it as a gem with *unlimited* power, and yet it runs out and needs a replacement shortly thereafter. I imagine fixing a blown-up planet is a LOT of energy but unlimited does not mean "finite but like, a lot"
Man sucks that this is the last time we see tetrax, i guess we saw the 23 version on Omniverse but never the original tetrax, he was one of the best characters from OG and then just forgotten, rip.
17:38 that makes sense he's regenerating the planet exactly to the moment it was destroyed but not the civilization and constructs which don't look like they're made completely out of Crystal some of them are metal and Stone probably exports like how all the people are wearing chromostone onesies instead of having all their clothes and outfits they had before.
About sugilite coming out of diamondhead.... The transformation of diamondhead is very similar to chromastone, so maybe, lore wise, it is the same chromastone transformation, with Diamondhead crystals covering it
Hey, do you guys remember when those Alien Force toy commercial where they gave the aliens pet creatures. One of them was chromastone having a crystal dinosaur. (Which obviously doesn't make sense in canon.) Imagine if the network DEMANDED the writers to put the pet dinosaur in the series to fit the toy line and in 15:31 you see Chromastone riding his pet crystal dinosaur in space! 😵😵😵
With the idea of Chromosome being unique, I had the idea (watching your review) that Chromostone is a diamondhead (can't remember species name soz) that has a special role as a leader, elder or guide of some sort of a small group of people, such as a family unit or even a village kinda thing. That person is given a diamond from each person of their group, and the diverse DNA samples evolve their own structure to become 'different', idk maybe a unique persecution like different sight and hearing, or a unique ability in providing the community like they can strengthen and/or create stronger housing structures to keep them safer and more secure
Shouldn’t Ben have turned into Chromastone to use the power of the crystal? Tetrax may have been inspired from the Omnitrix simulation in destroy all aliens to find a way to restore his planet. The sick aliens was my favorite gimmick in the original show it could have been expanded upon. For example: Humngasaur: pox like growths on his body that are incredibly sensitive to touch as opposed to his normal durability. Big chill: fever warms his body so much that he doesn’t produce freezing vapor, intangibility is reversed to super hard immobile statue Swampfire: hands are clogged from so much snot/goo that he can’t produce methane to ignite Cannobolt: Motion sickness? Rath: Delirious from fever and acts like giant kitten Upgrade: glitchy and freezing up like computer program. Ditto: sneezing out copies Echo Echo: I’m good with supersonic sneezes Chamalien: sneezes and becomes a random colorful pattern(Randall Boggs) Eye Guy: eyes are infected with pink and can’t see or aim Diamondhead: your fragile idea sounded good
My theory on why Sugalite comes from the inside of Diamond head is that it works similar to when Ben's aliens got turn to dust by Eon When the omnitrix detected a severe damage to the alien's body, it tried to protect Ben by separating "Ben" from the "Alien" In this case, the real Ben became the "shell", and the interior became that Alien Spot's true DNA sample, Chromastone, which in this case wasn't destroyed but the watch probably intended it to be what was killed if the attack continued Meanwhile, bc Eon's attack's desintegrated alive matter, the omnitrix separated Ben into a body in the inside of the Alien, this being the mass that got permanently damaged beyond repair And this is also what happened with Feedback, the damage required the omnitrix to separate ben from Feedback so only him would die and not Ben
I like Chromastone being a alien Guardian because I always felt like his appearance was to similar to Diamondhead to be a coincidence and that this was a clever way to give him a connection to Diamondhead's race while still making him his own kind of alien.
If i were to rewrite this episode while keeping the plot similar: - the imprint of all petropians is in the omnitrix, not in a crystal(this is what chromastone will be as a transformation) - sugilite comes for the omnitrix rather than tetrax coming for chromastone - Vilgax appears because his drones notice a large amount of energy at petropia
13:12 Here he could have just kept his helmet on, and not just assume that petrosapian can breath in outer space so his suit's helmet is really for the look of it cuz really it doesn't do much bit of a waste imo
20:07. Kinda hate that scene. But only cuz the Petrosapians look identical to Ben minus the head piece. There should be female variants and maybe some children and infants. I really wanted to see an infant version of Diamondhead
It's kinda sad that this was technically the last time we see tetrax in the original continuity, we see a version of him omniverse, but that was from Ben 23's universe, so I normally don't count it.
Well, I have must've taken stupid mills this morning because you actually had me with that fakeout credits bit XD! That's what I get for not rewatching Alien Force in a while.
I know the episode was bad but I still do love the idea of Ben having aliens like Chromastone who are one of a kind and are related to other alien species. It makes the Ben 10 universe seem more interconnected and reinforces the idea that Ben is connected to everyone in it.

"Why does Vilgax's ship look purple and not red like in the old show?"
Because Vilgax uses RGB lights and felt like purple that day. We just saw red in the old show cause he felt like it at the time.
He may be a evil psycho. But even bad people can't escape the coolness of RGB lights.
The moment he said "give me chromastone" his character was immediately broken to me, old tetrax would probably just explain everything calmly to Ben seeing how they already know eachother and he is aware that Ben trusts him and considers him a friend

I honestly think both uaf vilgax sucks ass. I more prefer Omniverse over him and even then I still dislike him. The reboot did him better.

Tetrax is so done dirty.
While I do think chromastone could have been handled much better, I did like him being the only member of his species, that makes him mysterious.
I would love to see Tetrax as member of the plumbers. He would be sooo chill.
I mean we sorta see him again in Store 23
Yeah. I mostly voted for that one since I loveee his voice actor Dave Fennoy
Another few things that bother me about this episode:
-remember that whole “banished from Earth” thing? Welp, Vilgax can now just drop by with every hostile intention and nobody gives a shit.
-that crystal was so fucking powerful it could destroy and rebuild a whole planet and Vilgax was so adamant about getting it back… and it never came up again. I guess he just likes how it looks on his shelf.
-how the hell are they breathing in an unfinished crystal planet with no apparent atmosphere
Probaly the same way Tetrax breated in the wreck of the planet
@@foisopracurtir6389 Do Petrosapiens need to breathe? I can even imagine them being able to survive in space for limited periods of time.
the crystal can't rebuild the planet. it's a power source, yes but without the power of a stellar alignment it's not that powerful. additionally, it appears to have run out of what power it had even back when Tetrax first stole it.
them breathing isn't really an issue. if the planet can't be brought back so can the atmosphere. Sugilite was getting ready to revive the population which probably means he was done with the atmosphere.
I think they said Petropia was already fully restored by that point. All that was left was to resurrect the Petrosapiens.

Maybe Jesus isn’t the only child of God, and he has alien brothers and sisters throughout the universe, trying to save their own civilizations from sin.
I like Chromastone, just not the whole thing they did with him in this episode.

He was a "noble warrior" who had so much skill that his own natural abilities didn't seem to matter
I really like this take. If earth can produce such gifted individuals, we should be able to see equality resectable people in other planets.

Yeah, this episode was voted in because people enjoy a good roast. Chromostone being a crystal god was so jarring, that watching it live made me instantly not enjoy it.

Yea but the episodes he choose were a lot worse than this and the ones he didn't were good enough that I am genuenly confused he didn't do them.
Honestly, I really do like the idea of Chromastone being a manufactured species/being by the Petrosapiens, and it being the planet's protector is kind of cool, though the whole Crystal Jesus stuff was a bit much
And Diamondhead breaking apart to reveal Chromastone underneath actually DOES work when you consider that Diamondhead reformed from Chromastome's pieces, so I like to imagine that when Ben transforms into Diamondhead using Chromastone's hologram instead of Diamondhead's, Chromastone was inside him the whole time.... I think if we hadn't seen the full transformation into Diamondhead, and just seen the flash and then him become Diamondhead, that whole scene would have worked better
I always saw Ben's transformations as the alien DNA morphing him into the alien so his skeleton has to morph into it like the alien itself doesn't have the skeleton but his body morphs into that same before it's complete like it's using the skeleton to support the body while the transformation is going on
That is what skeletons are for, so that makes sense
That was bad to the bone. 💀👍
16:42 Why the mouth flaps is so accurate in this part.🤣🤣🤣

Definitely should've had his own planet.
I headcannon that surface petrosapiens have energy powers. I wouldn't mind them being the reboot chromastone.
Or make it so Ben’s cold causes the Diamonds to become much more fragile
Yeah, even when I watched this episode back in middle school, I hated that out of all of Ben's alien forms, Echo Echo is arguably the only one affected by his cold. And even then, the difference is so negligible that it might as well not exist.
I feel like the only reason that people, myself included, voted for this episode was because it was the 1 out of the 5 choices that people remembered the most. Secret of Chromastone would almost always air during AF blocks while the other choices straight up never did (I barely remember Vendetta and Time Heals tbh I'm not even sure if I saw them airing).
I watched both once
For the bit at 10:54:
I was thinking the Omnitrix "translated" the carbon based virus into a silicon based one.
At 20:42, they colored in the shadow behind Sugilite's eye, and I can't tell if it looks cursed or actually really cool.
I always like seeing benevolent deities in media
UAF Style is boring tho. At least compared to OS or OV

It's like the writers forgot that they're friends and the whole episode Tetrax's personality was just off
Since diamondhead coming back was definitely due to the omnitrix's anti death failsafe. I wonder if it has a failsafe of restoring weakened or "dead" transformations.
Yeah they didn't do anything with Ben being ill effecting his aliens, except diamondhead and humungasaur in a way (similar to four arms but I think four arms got a slight recoloring and the arm pit things?) and yetray was on screen too little really, he could have been slower, different color eyes or laser at least maybe the early time out was an effect? idk

Because he's younger. I mean... Duh.
They explained this in that one episode when Ben meets his younger self. Also the fact that Ben 10.000 exists and his aliens as well. They literally show you that the aliens change depending on who's using the omnitrix.
it disapoints me that chromastone was setup to be a powerful alien with other powers not yet seen and did nothing with it.

My theory exactly.
Well this is a new Omnitrix so I just thought a copy of his sample was already in there. The return being more of a "I'm putting the suit back on."
But when I gave ya' all the chance to vote, you choose one of the worst episodes in the season."
Democracy at its finest.
Look if your friend wouldn't murder a truck driver to help you get a smoothie, he has no business being your friend
His alternate counterpart from Ben 23’s world doesn’t count. Same for Azmuth and Sixsix in the same episode.
Yes thats what i meant
13:26 Short answer the crystal grows with each newborn petrosapien so in say 10,000 years that crystal becomes the size of a basketball.
17:38 that makes sense he's regenerating the planet exactly to the moment it was destroyed but not the civilization and constructs which don't look like they're made completely out of Crystal some of them are metal and Stone probably exports like how all the people are wearing chromostone onesies instead of having all their clothes and outfits they had before.
i think the crystal jesus thing adds to the lore even if its weird.
It…really didn’t
More like crystal Baldur.
How tho?

Im just wondering how tf did azmuth get a walking backup drives dna?unless it was apart of diamond head or some shit
Out of everything brought back you would think bringing back Ben with a cold would be a great reason to mess with Ben's powers like in classic
(Which obviously doesn't make sense in canon.)
Imagine if the network DEMANDED the writers to put the pet dinosaur in the series to fit the toy line and in 15:31 you see Chromastone riding his pet crystal dinosaur in space! 😵😵😵
I would love to see that in the show, but considering how fast they dropped ship, I don’t wanna see another pet get the same treatment
Holy shit, that's how I got my Chromastone figure. I didn't think anyone remembered that.
For example:
Humngasaur: pox like growths on his body that are incredibly sensitive to touch as opposed to his normal durability.
Big chill: fever warms his body so much that he doesn’t produce freezing vapor, intangibility is reversed to super hard immobile statue
Swampfire: hands are clogged from so much snot/goo that he can’t produce methane to ignite
Cannobolt: Motion sickness?
Rath: Delirious from fever and acts like giant kitten
Upgrade: glitchy and freezing up like computer program.
Ditto: sneezing out copies
Echo Echo: I’m good with supersonic sneezes
Chamalien: sneezes and becomes a random colorful pattern(Randall Boggs)
Eye Guy: eyes are infected with pink and can’t see or aim
Diamondhead: your fragile idea sounded good
My theory on why Sugalite comes from the inside of Diamond head is that it works similar to when Ben's aliens got turn to dust by Eon
When the omnitrix detected a severe damage to the alien's body, it tried to protect Ben by separating "Ben" from the "Alien"
In this case, the real Ben became the "shell", and the interior became that Alien Spot's true DNA sample, Chromastone, which in this case wasn't destroyed but the watch probably intended it to be what was killed if the attack continued
Meanwhile, bc Eon's attack's desintegrated alive matter, the omnitrix separated Ben into a body in the inside of the Alien, this being the mass that got permanently damaged beyond repair
And this is also what happened with Feedback, the damage required the omnitrix to separate ben from Feedback so only him would die and not Ben
I like Chromastone being a alien Guardian because I always felt like his appearance was to similar to Diamondhead to be a coincidence and that this was a clever way to give him a connection to Diamondhead's race while still making him his own kind of alien.
If i were to rewrite this episode while keeping the plot similar:
- the imprint of all petropians is in the omnitrix, not in a crystal(this is what chromastone will be as a transformation)
- sugilite comes for the omnitrix rather than tetrax coming for chromastone
- Vilgax appears because his drones notice a large amount of energy at petropia
13:12
Here he could have just kept his helmet on, and not just assume that petrosapian can breath in outer space
so his suit's helmet is really for the look of it cuz really it doesn't do much
bit of a waste imo
The celestialsapiens changed the art style of kuro's hair again 😂😂😂
lol
20:07. Kinda hate that scene. But only cuz the Petrosapians look identical to Ben minus the head piece. There should be female variants and maybe some children and infants. I really wanted to see an infant version of Diamondhead
21:08 I legitimately don’t remember that part I just remembered that Tetrax said nothing, smiled and left
It's kinda sad that this was technically the last time we see tetrax in the original continuity, we see a version of him omniverse, but that was from Ben 23's universe, so I normally don't count it.
I don’t count that either. Also, why did he have a beard in that episode? 😣
@@stephenking5852 I like the goatee.
Well, I have must've taken stupid mills this morning because you actually had me with that fakeout credits bit XD! That's what I get for not rewatching Alien Force in a while.
Even though this episode has it's issues, it was nice to see Tetrax return (even the voice actor returned)
I know the episode was bad but I still do love the idea of Ben having aliens like Chromastone who are one of a kind and are related to other alien species. It makes the Ben 10 universe seem more interconnected and reinforces the idea that Ben is connected to everyone in it.
