Paul Bogosian not true I breed them And I have my beautiful puppy at for 4wks old I have them kennel trained and country and I do not give them treats at that age I do not start treats until the roughly about 6 weeks iam on facebook and here just look up Basset Queen take care
so ture it isn't even funny! ok it kinda is my hound takes way to much advantage of the hounds selective hearing but I still love him he look ner identical to the hound from my favorite movie smokey and the bandit
Awesome. I have a 9 year old Basset Hound. Best dog ever. Walk him 2 miles a day to keep him in shape. He only knows sit. lay down, stay and submit (half a roll). Most loyal dogs and the best thing to make you happy at the end of the day.
I love this! Sometimes it surprises me how smart our Bassett is at some things & how he just doesn't want to get others! He gets leaving the kitchen when people are fixing food, waiting in the living room when someone comes to the door, ringing the bell on the back door to go out, and even waiting his turn when he and our chihuahua both want to be petted, but we can't for the life of us get him to lie down on command. He's a sweetheart, tho; wouldn't trade his lumpiness for anything!
He is AWESOME!! I have had 3 Bassets and neither of them could do that many tricks. They all 3 had very different personalities. My boy Basset Riley has Cancer now but he still plays with his toys and he is sharp as a tack. Kudos to you for the great training.
Eddy is great with doing tricks, our old basset done tricks too, like my wife made her sandwich for work and our basset wanted out, she walked toward the door and our basset went up on his hind leg to grab the sandwich from her hand! His tricks were bad, but we still loved him!
I don't know who is more of a genius, you or your dog. I say this because you must be an awesome trainer to be able to train a basset hound that well! You guys did a great job!!!
We had several Bassets through the years, they were all good tempered. one, in particular named Sherlock Holmes, was like this Basset, able to be taught many tricks. Sherlock would play dead when we would make a gun shape and say 'bang!'. He would do what looked like this dog's half rollover. Great video, brought back memories of my brother Sherlock :)
What a performance!!! & the look in his eyes ! Totally adorable . + the cat is sth else !!! He walks by like saying : “yeah , I got in the picture without having to do tricks for no one “ . I ❤️ both 🐱 & 🐶 !
Being the childhood owner of a Basset, I have a permanent soft spot for them! I've always heard they're "too stubborn" to be highly-trainable... Obviously, you guys have broken that mold and proven that stereotype wrong!
This man is the real dog whisper... Training a german shepherd or lab to do these tricks is nothing, anyone can do that in a week or two. But a BASSET???? Holly hell is this a miracle, amazing dogs that I love they always make you smile. However they are the most stubborn dog breed there is, bar none. They will not do anything they don't want too, and often will not do something because they know you want them to.This man deserves a gold metal in dog training. Bravo sir, bravo.
For goodness sake after all that work hold and hug that gorgeous baby boy. I LOVE Basset Hounds... they are the best dogs ever. So sweet an so good natured.
I spent a lot of time working with him and as i'm sure you know sometimes you may have to force him to do what you want. As long as you reward him after he does the right thing he'll do it on his own eventually.
Eddy is wonderful and so handsome!!! They do have a very determined nature, they aren't stubborn, they just know what they want and unfortunately it's usually not what you want at the moment ;) enjoy him, they are the best dogs ever!!
Ok... So I have. 4 morning old basset girl and we have taught her sit, lay down and roll over (on her terms of course 🤦)...we are working on "stay" and "come." Please tell me your secret!!! Lol
He is an amazing Basset...I've had many and none could do all these tricks...my husband actually taught Moe to sneeze for treats...never got it on video and he passed away 3 years ago from old age...miss him.
Ahww.... this video warms my heart and brings back memories of my hound. I trained my basset to do all the same tricks!!! He's been gone 2 years, now. Thanks for sharing.
Such a lovely dog. But be VERY careful with his back....rolling over is very stressful as well as going up and down stairs, jumping off furniture....we lost our basset after only 6 years, she just stopped walking one day, in a great deal of pain, and the spinal surgery was going to cost 10 grand with only a slim chance of working. We had to put her down. Heartbreaking.
Yes...but can the cat do all of those tricks, too? :) I grew up with a Basset in the 1960's. He was a sweet dog but not exactly given to "obedience". Eddy is obviously VERY food motivated! You're lucky to have found a Basset who is so trainable. I volunteer at a shelter now and get to train some of our longer-term residents. The ones we identify as Poodle or Shepherd mixes seem to be the most readily trainable. The hound mixes can be, umm, a bit more "challenging" (to put it mildly).
Bassets are (in general) extremely food motivated... Eddy is no exception. Best breed by far. The size of their ears is only matched by their stubbornness! I couldn't have taught all those tricks to my hound... well done!
Basset hounds are smart. You have to find the right motivation for every dog. My basset hound happens to love chasing a laser light, and especially loves her food. She has learned quite a number of commands using these rewards. Gotta love them basset hounds!
Such an intelligent little hound! My Beagle offered me a biscuit if I`d just leave her alone! Still though not properly trained she was beautiful and I miss her very much.
Our Basset Hound is very smart, like all we've had before him. When we had the trainer here for the first time, he did all the commands on the first try. The trainer said "you must be working with him", which we said "no, not even once". Like all of our previous ones he is stubborn, but love-able and a real pal.
Amazing! Great job on training the dog. Bassett hounds are not easy to train but with the right motivation obviously you can get them to do what you want! again great job!
We have a basset/beagle mix who was a shelter dog. He knows sit, sit up, down, shake, say it (speak), high five (sort of), beg. He already knew how to sit up when we got him. He's the sweetest dog I've ever known.
Man, he's class! We've a 18th month called Geezer and he can do a few tricks but not as much as Eddy! Gotta stick with it tho cause he's as smart as chips!! Big love for Bassets!
I never trained by basset to do such great tricks! He's 10 years old, so it's probably not likely that he'll start now. I love how eventually his stubbornness begins to show!
My second Basset was a pleasure to train and work with. He had a very strong desire to please us and not want to get into trouble. I think that stemmed from him being abused. We rescued him. My first Basset was very stubborn, but once she was trained she was also a great pleasure to live with. I love Bassets, they are the best dogs.
Your video was so fun to watch! My (not so little), Bella, just turned a year old August 13th. She is very smart, too! I am going to work on some more of these tricks with her, because I know she learns quickly. I only wish she would bay. I've played many videos for her hoping that she would pick it up, but no luck yet. Great work with your hound-you obviously love your companion! Thanks for the video!
Aren't bassets the best? We have 2, George & Winston and a cat named Misty that looks EXACTLY like yours. I'm impressed with Eddy. He's very well trained.
I normally get annoyed by owners that post these types of videos but this is cool. Don't be an irresponsible owner and buy your dog crappy food, bones from China, etc. Your dog really is cool and that's coming from a fellow Basset Hound owner.
My Basset can do a lot of these tricks, too-- I just love that you can still see a little bit of stubbornness in him! Mine does the flop-over instead of rolling over a lot, and sometimes protests as she's doing it. Nice work!
I can barely keep my basset Rudy from peeing on the floor in the house much less than have him do tricks. They sure are food-driven though. That's the way to a basset's heart.
My Coraline passed three months today the 15th. I adopted her when she was only four years of age and rotten to the core, she was nine when she passed to cancer but I didn’t care about the the fact that she didn’t stand on her hind legs or spoke to me, I love her with all my might forever, she could have never done anything wrong in my eyes.
Okay! Anyone other than me was ready for some cat shenanigans to go down! ..... You that cat was thinking of some things to! Lol Pretty impressive! Hounds are cute but tough to get to do tricks 🐾
Interestingly, I have found that bassets are great at learning their lefts and rights. I walk my Rufus many hours and we are constantly working on off leash training. Since he was young it has been easy for me to direct him by telling him to take a right or left path. Your basset is shaped and size JUST like Rufus. It's crazy, they could be brothers. Also, "not yours" or "not for dogs" seems to be easily picked up by bassets. It's funny how they do things half way and you have to insist that they do it.
very nice video.....i love my basset......i actually had her complete basic obedience class and then an agility class as a one year old. she passed both classes but has not retained much of it because of my lack of working with her. It was so funny because she was in class with dobermans and rottweilers and one corgie.
The proud owner of 4 Bassets over the years, I can say this bloke deserves a medal for being able to train a Basset this well. He must have a lot of patience. It's not that Bassets are dumb. On the contrary. However, they are stubborn at times...but still adorable!
We have a 5 month old Lemon Drop(BI-Color) Bassett hound, he currently can only sit & shack for a treat. Maybe some day he will be able to do some of these tricks. So cool. How did you teach him to do all those?
Repetitive training is so important and stables their character. It gives them calming personality. Just be sure to close off the command with an ‘ok’ so they know the command is finished. Play hide and seek so they will want to look for you and find you especially outside. Give great praise and yes, use treats when necessary to keep them safe from harm. You want them to always want to come to you. Make it fun! Keep them active because a tired dog is a happy dog! ❤
While your dog may be super cute an awesome, he is not cool enough to excuse your crocs, lol. But, seriously, I love his big ol' paws! 3 of our family's 5 dachshunds got their dad's huge paws, and I just adore 'em!
OMG not good on the computer but "sexy and I know it " looks like my dog izabelle from tri state basset hound rescue. I loved and shared it with all my friends.
I had a basset for many years before he went to basset heaven. My understanding of the basset breed (I could be wrong) is generally speaking the basset breed is one of the 'purest' of dog breeds, and it is this purity of breed that makes basset hounds generally less intelligent and less trainable than other dog breeds. My own basset really supported this 'bassets are dumb' theory. My basset had trouble remembering where his own dog dish was located. But this cute video of Eddy the Basset completely blows up this 'bassets are dumb' theory. Eddy seems to be more intelligent than many humans I know.
We have had 6 Bassets... and I assure you they are very intelligent! They are so intelligent that they have convinced some people that they are dumb :) They are STUBBORN - and can be difficult to train - but Eddy is proof that a dedicated trainer and a loyal & smart basset (that also loves treats).... can also be a well-trained basset! Good boy, Eddy!!!
Bassetts, and Bassett Beagle mixes are the best! We just lost ours and he was the best dog ever! He was completely adorable! But he was a bit of a scamp! I'm impressed that this dog does so many tricks because the reputation of Bassetts is that they are hard to train. Our dog was only 7 months when we lost him.We are looking for a Bassett/Beagle mix or a Bassett puppy now so if anyone knows of one, reply or PM please. Thanks!
Eddy is adorable, and very smart. I hope you can keep his weight pretty much as is -- sometimes that is not easy as they age. I grew up with a neighbor who had a female bassett hound named "Sweetie Pie." She was as friendly as could be, loved to have her belly scratched. Keep up the great work!
i was told by our our most senior bassett that it was a violation of bassett union rules to do tricks or even be taught anything.
Tough union
😂😂😂😂
Food negotiations are in use
Was Hoffa the union president?
Training a basset without snacks is like flying to the moon on a boat.
That made me laugh.
Paul Bogosian not true I breed them And I have my beautiful puppy at for 4wks old I have them kennel trained and country and I do not give them treats at that age I do not start treats until the roughly about 6 weeks iam on facebook and here just look up Basset Queen take care
LOL!!!
No truer words were ever spoken.
HAHAHAHA so TRUE!!! Hahaha
the only basset hound in the world that will follow instructions
so ture it isn't even funny! ok it kinda is my hound takes way to much advantage of the hounds selective hearing but I still love him he look ner identical to the hound from my favorite movie smokey and the bandit
hahaaa
We must capture him and study him to replicate.
I see that Eddy has trained you well, getting you to give him treats by just doing simple tricks. Good job, Eddy!
😂
Awesome. I have a 9 year old Basset Hound. Best dog ever. Walk him 2 miles a day to keep him in shape. He only knows sit. lay down, stay and submit (half a roll). Most loyal dogs and the best thing to make you happy at the end of the day.

He's a sweetheart, tho; wouldn't trade his lumpiness for anything!
My Bassett can do one command "eat" when I give a treat and she does.
Lucretia Raven The first word all of mine learned was " treats".
Only command mine follows is be RUFUS cause thats his name
He is AWESOME!! I have had 3 Bassets and neither of them could do that many tricks. They all 3 had very different personalities. My boy Basset Riley has Cancer now but he still plays with his toys and he is sharp as a tack. Kudos to you for the great training.
Well done ! Having owned 2 of these creatures for 13 years I find this pretty impressive, to say the very least.
I can't believe you actually trained a basset hound to do those tricks. They are the most stubborn dogs around. Adorable, but stubborn.
They are also very food motivated.
Brett Champion Dachshunds are just as stubborn, maybe it's the scent hounds?
My Bassett Hound, Ginnie, was the smartest dog I ever had. She knew about 50 commands and could fetch her toys by name.
You got it backwards. Eddie has the owner trained.
Brett Champion They are boneheads. My first one was Rappunzel, but I called her bonehead. I love their stubbornness. I have had three more since.
Eddy is great with doing tricks, our old basset done tricks too, like my wife made her sandwich for work and our basset wanted out, she walked toward the door and our basset went up on his hind leg to grab the sandwich from her hand! His tricks were bad, but we still loved him!
this proves once and for all that bassets are very smart
Indeed ! So smart they use it to their advantage ! : )
Yes has his keeper well trained
I don't know who is more of a genius, you or your dog. I say this because you must be an awesome trainer to be able to train a basset hound that well! You guys did a great job!!!
Not even those crocs can ruin this video.
LOLOL :-D The comment of the year award. Thanks for chiming in.
3PiecesOfBread Lolololol!!!!!
Love crocs
🤣
Your cat: Dafuq is this shit? I'm outta here.
That cat--how he "just happens" to walk thru the action! 😸. Must be looking for the car keys or his eyeglasses. 😉
Such precious pets you have, Sir! 😘
Absolutely wonderful! What a beautiful, clever, well-trained dog!
For goodness sake after all that work hold and hug that gorgeous baby boy. I LOVE Basset Hounds... they are the best dogs ever. So sweet an so good natured.
that has to be another dog breed in disguise cause my basset hound will only turn to where his treat is...
They may be stubborn but they are foodaholics.
A Bassett hound showing all these tricks... Hat's off to you! You got a beautiful and very adorable dog.
At 1:55 my basset would have given me the look and eaten the treat. Bassets are just like that.
I've had several Bassets and they are great !!
What a smart baby boy! So grumpy and cute!!!!!
Now teach him to hide your crocs. Then I'll be really impressed. Cool pup.
Thanks for watching everyone, we appreciate it. We have added 2 new videos of Eddy for your enjoyment )
buy new shoes man
they have the sweetest faces, they look like short bloodhounds.
Ok... So I have. 4 morning old basset girl and we have taught her sit, lay down and roll over (on her terms of course 🤦)...we are working on "stay" and "come." Please tell me your secret!!! Lol

Nothing motivates a basset hound more than food does. This dog is beautiful and very smart.
Smartest basset I've ever seen. Bravo to your dedication!
A. Basset hound will do anything for food. I've had 5 of them over the last 60 years. The best dogs ever.
Yeah, he’s done with the rolling over thing. Beautiful basset! I grew up with one. He is gorgeous
I'm very sorry. I've been there. I think hounds are the best breed ever.

that was a graceful roll over
Basset hounds are smart.
Basset Hounds and hardwood floors are a bad combo! Hahah, I've been listening to that sound for five years now...
Our Basset Hound is very smart, like all we've had before him. When we had the trainer here for the first time, he did all the commands on the first try. The trainer said "you must be working with him", which we said "no, not even once". Like all of our previous ones he is stubborn, but love-able and a real pal.

Great clips! We have a basset/hot dog mix and we love Eddy! Mulder sends a big "hello!"
I never trained by basset to do such great tricks! He's 10 years old, so it's probably not likely that he'll start now. I love how eventually his stubbornness begins to show!
Molly Bovos They are very boneheaded! Stubborn, but I love it. I don't like blind obedience in a dog.
What an adorable guy! I wish I could get my man to do more than "sit", ha! Thank you for posting this, it put a huge smile on my face :)

The cat makes a quick appearance, lol! Love that cat.. brings memories!
I have a basset too. It's amazing how obedient she is when I have a treat in my hand. Without a treat, she does what she wants.
Aren't bassets the best? We have 2, George & Winston and a cat named Misty that looks EXACTLY like yours. I'm impressed with Eddy. He's very well trained.

Your dog really is cool and that's coming from a fellow Basset Hound owner.
OMG I love bassets have had 5 in my life. I only got one to sake paw. There so stubborn. How did you teach bassets should be your next couple videos.
What a good boy. Loved the cat walking thru, totally unimpressed.
That is amazing. I've had 3 Bassets and gave up trying to train any of them.
Enjoyed the video very much. We have 2 bassets, they are such a joy.
That is a gorgeous hound. He has the french coat, nice and shiney.
Love those ears! Very talented! I love my Crocs 2, very comfy!!!
Oh holy wow! I love Bassets but honestly they go their own way. You are amazing!!! What the treat your using?
So so adorable! God Bless Sweetheart!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Okay! Anyone other than me was ready for some cat shenanigans to go down! ..... You that cat was thinking of some things to! Lol
Pretty impressive! Hounds are cute but tough to get to do tricks 🐾
Hounds? Food motivated? You don't say! hahaha! We had a beagle who was VERY food-motivated! Fun to see this -- thanks!
Good boy, very smart! Beautiful Basset!
I love Eddie! He makes my heart happy.
That's one SMART hound dog. Good Job to both of you.
Eddy has you trained real well !! lol !! Thanks for posting...
Holy cow! That is awesome! How many hours per day do you spend training?
very nice video.....i love my basset......i actually had her complete basic obedience class and then an agility class as a one year old. she passed both classes but has not retained much of it because of my lack of working with her. I had two English Bulldogs and they were stubborn as Hell. God rest their souls. I miss them so so much.
there is hope, i can train my basset yet!
any advice on getting them to not pull when walking?
This is amazingly awesome! SOUPS ADORBS!!! LOVE IT!!!! lol
We have a 5 month old Lemon Drop(BI-Color) Bassett hound, he currently can only sit & shack for a treat. Maybe some day he will be able to do some of these tricks. So cool. How did you teach him to do all those?
Such an adorable hound!!!!
Yes, you have done a fantastic work in traihim, plus he looks beautiful. Not overweight... well done
Never saw a Basset do ANY tricks !
Repetitive training is so important and stables their character. It gives them calming personality. Just be sure to close off the command with an ‘ok’ so they know the command is finished. You want them to always want to come to you. Make it fun! Keep them active because a tired dog is a happy dog! ❤
Doggie has hooman well trained. He does little tricks for them and they respond by giving him treats. Hoomans are so easy to deal with!
Come on some of y'all👎this video! Where is your❤this is one of the most awesomeness and a adorable dog!!
Do you give him a signal that tells him which paw to salute or can he really tell his left from his right?
My kind of family! A basset and a cat! ❤️
While your dog may be super cute an awesome, he is not cool enough to excuse your crocs, lol.
But, seriously, I love his big ol' paws! 3 of our family's 5 dachshunds got their dad's huge paws, and I just adore 'em!
"He'll never be the coolest dog ever!"
The dog: **Is actually the coolest dog ever**
**Spits the cereal**

He's a keeper and he's adorable and sweet! What a nice dog you have!! Give him LOTS of love for me, okay?!? LOL!! He's a great dog!!!
How old is your Bassett now? Soo sweet and smart 🥰🥰🥰.
Bassetts, and Bassett Beagle mixes are the best! We just lost ours and he was the best dog ever! He was completely adorable! But he was a bit of a scamp! I'm impressed that this dog does so many tricks because the reputation of Bassetts is that they are hard to train.
