Great stream Jeem. Too bad I missed it. I would've liked to join in and talk about how where I live, Indonesia, religions are practiced and syncretised with local animinism and shamanism

Just to sum up my segment in comment form because I wanna know if this applies to your culture too: A combination of biblical history being Middle Eastern history and the fact that people such as us Armenians and the Levantines being the first adopters of Christianity means that the faith is inherently tied to our culture. So someone that wants to constantly overanalyze and deconstruct the world from "our side" cannot ever let go of Christianity having influenced his lineage of thinking no matter how much he wants to. Same for a Gulf Arab Muslim having to deal with Islam being forever really tied to his people, culture and way of thought even if he's a nihilistic fedora tipping atheist.
This then combines with our part of the world having its Christian population be on the receiving end of atrocities as opposed to the ones doing them (no country is innocent though including my own) and said people doing the atrocities like Turkey being the opposite of repentant to be blunt.
So the end result in "our world", isn't a Christianity inclined to constantly invoking shame and guilt like what happened in certain strands of western Christianity.

Jeem , have you considered doing a stream discussng the various ethno-nationalist movements in the Middle East? (pardon me if you've already done so). It seems that there is an increasing desire on the part of many diaspora ethnic groups to have their own nation and ethnic identity. Is this just a larp? Sebastian Brock makes the comment that these neo-Assyrian movements would have even been unrecognized as "Assyrian" by the ancient Christians in the Sassanid empire.

Buddhism isn't all about oneness and unity and Nature and such. In the Pali Canon, the Buddha is asked whether there is a difference between the soul and the body, and he effectively says it's unworthy of speculation and applying the tetralemma to it wherein a distinction is made neither for existence, nor nonexistence, nor a reconciliation of the two, nor a double negation. So instead of entertaining a conceptual bridge between the mundane and supermundane like with neoplatonism, this is totally avoided. The salvific nature is thus rendered incomprehensible by the ordinary mind, and thereby faith is an absolute demand. This means that a Buddhist isn't saved in name by their belief system, but by actual temperance. This makes a healthy distinction between the common man of good merit and the saint. The man of good merit can hope to be a saint, but he is not afforded the conceit of self-reliance in terms of belief, so if he has defilement, he is still defiled, and absolutely so at that. No action he takes will change that, unless that change happens at the level of fate. This is important for separating high mystical authority from common priestly authority of defiled worldlings. When this isn't the case, you get overly intellectualized rhetorical modes of "salvation" and feminine reactivity in the form of guilt and shame. Allowing the commoner to think they can be saved by anything other than supermundane temperance comes with severe consequences.
