And this is were Boba Fett learned that gaining respect is better than ruling through fear. Boba's encounter with the Sand people completely changed his world view.
Just one question since I'm seeing this complaint or question a lot. That Boba Fett wants to be feared originally or that it's a change of heart that he wants to be respected rather than feared, or even that him wanting to be respected is completely out of character and unacceptable: Where does that come from? In the movies his role isn't "very deep" and that's generous, are there books that explain his character more? And besides that, aren't wanting to be respected as a leader and wanting to be feared as a bounty hunter completely different things that are very much possible beside each other?
12:44 Yes, that is a wookiee pelt. That's how Trandoshans say "hello". They hate Wookiees, and their way of giving a gift is killing a wookiee and giving the furball's pelt as a gift. In SWTOR, during the Jedi Consular storyline, when the Consular is thinking about getting a gift for his padawan, his trandoshan ally suggested skinning a wookiee alive and getting its pelt.

When the Rodian started to uncover the monster, my first thought was Oh gods. This is how the kryat dragon from season 2 of The Mandolorian got woken up.
I believe Boba became popular before he even appeared on screen. I watched something that described his popularity coming from his 1st action figure that you had to send away and receive in the mail.
Correct, and he also appeared in the cartoon segment of the Holiday Special. He's one of those characters where kids imagination took over and made him a lot cooler than he was in the movies, especially since he was one of the few action figures who had his own spaceship toy. I think Steven also sometimes forgets that there were THREE YEARS between movie releases. Boba didn't just show up in The Empire Strikes Back and then immediately die next week in Return of the Jedi. There was plenty of time for kids to imagine what he got up to from 1980-1983.
I was just a “causal fan” but my husband got my obsessed with Star Wars just as much as you Steven. We have a baby girl on the way and her nursery theme is going to be entirely Star Wars 😂❤️
That sand monster looked like a next generation version of one of Ray Harryhausen’s creations in old movies. I think it was a tribute to the guy. IF you don’t know who I am talking about, check out the documentary on Tubi; Special Effects Titan.
Definitely a possibility. Some of the creatures in the Star Wars movies were designed, shot, and animated to look like Harryhausen created them, especially the monsters in the Geonosis arena in Episode II.
My thoughts exactly the first thing that popped in my head was the Kraken from clash of the titans...................... Loved Ray Harryhausen and it brought a tear to my eye
Steven: "And I'm really excited..I'm very excited...really excited...yes I'm really excited" Not sure but I wonder if Steven might be excited for this series.
I think the scene the little sand person showing what happened at the moisture farm was the sand people showing Boba how bandits etc attacked people then made it look like a tusken raider attack. Like the empire did to the jawas in a new hope
this episode showed Boba fett's origin for those who donot know him & what things he's going too get into. the Production was good. I think it's going to be a good show
I was a little worried this wouldn't live up to the Mandalorian, but so far it's on track to be just as great. Love the first two episodes, and Temuera Morrison is KILLING it every week. Super solid so far. Favreau, Filoni, and Rodriguez know what they're doing.
Aww man watching Nikki watch Steven opening comments as he tip toes around but also, clearly you see his love for Star Wars.. and you can read all that on Nikki's face. Really cool. Now... to watch the reaction...Letttttttttts goooooooo!
George Lucas had said in an interview, that if you that if he knew how popular Bubba Fett would be, he would not have treated him as he did. Yes that may well be a Wookiee pelt. Trandoshans are hunters and Wookiees are their favorite pray.
@7:13 reminded me of the scene in "Raising Arizona" when John Goodman and William Forsythe escaped from prison accept, it's happening during the day, and it isn't raining.
It doesn’t matter if he is covered in acid burns, severely dehydrated, beaten by Tuskens, scorched by the twin suns of Tatooine, and nearly killed by a hybrid of Godzilla and Goro from Mortal Kombat, Boba Fett will walk it off, choke that creature onto death and give a badass victory pose.
Since I was a kid, I actually had the exact opposite thoughts on boba fett. He was my favorite character in Star Wars. I’ve always liked him a hundred times more than Luke. Getting a fett series is a dream come true for me.
The Tusken beating up Boba is a woman!! She's either the Chief person's wife or daughter. The kid totally took credit for killing the monster BUT the Chief guy knows Boba killed it, the water was like a show of respect.
Boba Fett's survival of the Sarlacc has been part of the Star Wars lore since Dark Empire 5, released in August of 1992. Seven months shy of 30 years ago. _The Mandalorian_ was just the first show to bring the fact of his survival to the screen.
It was even earlier than that. He was out of the Sarlacc a year after RotJ in Star Wars #81 in 1984. So like you said the idea he lived has been around for a long time.
The way he returned in the expanded universe through novels and comics was pretty cool. Then all that became “Legacy” when what’s her face (Kennedy) took over lucasfilm. To have Filoni and Favreau resurrect Fett is beyond cool. And to have Robert Rodriguez onboard and give us this episode…round of applause gents.
My theory of why they kept him alive is that the Experienced Tuskins might have recognized the Clone Template that Boba is from 20 years earlier and thus keep him alive for ransom (assuming they are unaware of the change in the galactic order)

That thing that Boba is getting beat up with while escaping The Tuskan Raiders is the one he uses in The Mando season2. His head must be pretty strong considering he crushes Storm Trooper helmets with it.
From what I could hear, when Boba threatened to strangle him with the ankle chain and feed his leg to the Massif watchdog, the Rodian prisoner called him a "sleemo", the Huttese word for "slime ball" and also said "poodoo", so the language he was speaking was most likely Huttese 🤔.

Tbh I never really gave a shit about Boba Fet either until Clone Wars. Even in Mando s2 I was cool with seeing him return but not super hyped. Then the last 3 episodes happened and now I care. A lot.
This reminded me of a 1970s film with the late Richard Harris called "A Man Named Horse" where an English nobleman is captured by a tribe of Native Americans and put to work at first as a horse but goes on to show his worth to the tribe and being accepted as one of them.
it was indeed a wookiee pelt that Trandoshan has... the Trandoshans have hunted the wookiees since the EU and they started to put it into canon in the clone wars and now this show which makes me happy
I missed the start of the show, because my work schedule keeps me off balance. I saw that you reacted, and I thought. "Oh crap! I gotta watch, so I can see the reacts!!!" As I watched the first "bacta dream" I remembered how I thought in the movie, when little Boba picked up his father's helmet, "This is too gruesome for Star Wars, but when he picked up the helmet I kind of wanted to see the head fall out" and I had this vague impulse that they might've CGI'd that into the bacta dream/memory. I'm glad they didn't, but I really kind of, deep down, would've liked for them to. [adding shock, just for shock, is a cheap trick] 8:39 "He had a Tusken Raider staff in the Mandalorian" Me: "Steven! You call yourself a true fan, and you say 'Tusken Raider staff' instead of 'Gaffi Stick' ?" 14:40-14:50 I really expected one of you to make a "bend the knee" comment. But that's probably because I recently binged your GOT reactions. 14:58: When I saw this scene, my immediate reactions was "Max you survived!" [Max Rebo on the 'keyboard' for the simplest explanation] Personally, I could've done with a little less of the flashback background, not saying I don't appreciate it, but I didn't need that much "backstop" for 'filling in people who don't know anything about the characters' At the end, I took it as the "youngling" was taking credit for killing the monster, and everyone was buying it and so proud of him, but the Tusken Leader saw the situation and was "You brought the child back alive, you could've let him die. Have some water. A gesture of great respect in a desert world.
Appreciate the comment, lots of good stuff here. I say it a lot but I’m no encyclopedia when it comes to Star Wars, just a hardcore fan with strong opinions. There’s lots of things in this universe I don’t remember the names of, shouldn’t question my level of fandom.
Well, in attack of the clones when Jango was decapitated you can see two shadows, Jango's head was already out of the helmet and flew somewhere else, so wouldn't be possible lol.
You guys are nice, I've been following your videos for 1 year, I really like to see your reactions to the series I also watch, I'm Brazilian, we like Star Wars too
Love the first shot is of the palace Came out the dirt like I LIVE!!!!! Those red shields remind me of the shields that blocked darth mail qui gon and obi wan in battle of the fates in episode 1 the phantom menace. Boba in the tank having ptsd of past trauma Dragging him through the desert like Joseph in the Bible. These raiders live in tents unlike the ones that anakin killed who lived in huts. The way boba helmets spins as it falls on the ground is similar to how his father’s did when mace windu killed him. The alien falls boba smeelo which means slimeball we heard thag in episode 1 from young anakin. These raiders don’t all dress the same as see one wears jewelry showing he has rank or is a leader like a chief of his tribe. A lot of biblical and Egyptian imagery in this first episode as well as on the temple and buildings looks to be Hieroglyphics, boba is even dressed by servants like in the beginning in the movie the 10 commandments. Boba kills the alien the same way Princess Leia killed Jabba the hut
The colors and trim on those speeder bikes reminds me of the cars in "American Graffiti" (1973) which was directed, of course, by George Lucas. My guess is that is supposed to be an homage to Lucas.
I felt like i was the only one who caught on to the Trandosian giving Boba the wookie pelt imediately. About a week before the release of the show, i looked up facts on Trandosians ageing process to see if bossk could show up and found out, Trandos hate Wookies with a passion lol and trandos hunted wookies, Very cool lore!!
The reason why he is considered cool is not because he is just some bounty hunter, he is Jenga Fett's son, i.e. related to all of the clone troopers, etc. He's a key character
I think the Tuskans will teach him to fight, cuz he didnt have the same moves againt the raiders as he did in the Mandolorian. This is gonna be great.👍❤🤘
iread some book about boba fett and how he ended up befriending han solo. boba fett had a daughter or something and was looking for her and the cure to stopping his aging as a clone or hault it. was super interesting i wish i remembered more. thank you for the content :))))
i think whats happening to boba is some kind of illness in clones. maybe to ensure they dont live too long? idk but thanks again for the content!!! i bet he's going to go back to kamino looking for the cure and maybe even seeing han solo :P
@@holyfire11 Clones are modified to age much faster than standard humans, they are ment for battle and wont live long, Boba is the only unmodified Clone, which was made because Jango wanted a son he could raise, so Boba doesn't have accelerated aging like all other clones.
Yeah, you have to realize--all the Boba hype came from the extensive comics & novels that filled in his backstory. It had _nothing_ to do with his time on-screen up to that point. Like you pointed out, he had far more (and better!) screentime in _The Mandelorian_ than he ever had in _Empire_ & _Return._
Now i know you guys don't listen to us non-patreons but you REALLY need to start watching The Silent Sea on Netflix, its amazing! And our favorite south korean guy actor Gong Woo is in it!!! Love you guys!
The tusken Raider that beats Boba fett is the clan leader's wife. I see a lot of people think it is n man. Tuskens live in pairs. Those two look like they are the leaders and thus, one of them is the female tusken.
i wonder if we will get some significant twists in this series like in the mandalorian. i think there might be another cameo that will get people talking
Good first ep. Only issue I had was how contrived the attack scene in the street was. Boba has a jet pack and blaster but used neither. Fennec seemed to be unarmed throughout which seems just weird if she is supposed to be his body guard. Also they left without the Gamorrean guards?
If boba were too jetpack out, he would leave Fennec to get all the hits, which could possibly kill her, and they were getting hit from multiple angles, probably didn't get enough time to get their weapons out. And a blaster would do nothing, if the shields the guys had could withstand a missile at point blank range without making a scratch.
@@yamatoclassbattleship I meant use the jetpack in aerial combat around them for openings with his gun. They would have been distracted defending against him also so Fennec would have more openings.
In the books he crawls out of the sarlacc pit over time he's almost dead and the other bounty hunter Dengar finds him and saves him that's why he looks so scarred up when you see him in the mandalorian also why his armor was still on tatooine
Yeah, but Marvel Comics were the first to show what happened to Boba after he survived the Sarlaac. He was found by Jawas, who brought him aboard their sandcrawler (they mistook his armoured body for a droid). I think them stealing his armour in this episode was a homage to that.

As I watched the first "bacta dream" I remembered how I thought in the movie, when little Boba picked up his father's helmet, "This is too gruesome for Star Wars, but when he picked up the helmet I kind of wanted to see the head fall out" and I had this vague impulse that they might've CGI'd that into the bacta dream/memory. I'm glad they didn't, but I really kind of, deep down, would've liked for them to. [adding shock, just for shock, is a cheap trick]
8:39 "He had a Tusken Raider staff in the Mandalorian"
Me: "Steven! You call yourself a true fan, and you say 'Tusken Raider staff' instead of 'Gaffi Stick' ?"
14:40-14:50 I really expected one of you to make a "bend the knee" comment. But that's probably because I recently binged your GOT reactions.
14:58: When I saw this scene, my immediate reactions was "Max you survived!" [Max Rebo on the 'keyboard' for the simplest explanation]
Personally, I could've done with a little less of the flashback background, not saying I don't appreciate it, but I didn't need that much "backstop" for 'filling in people who don't know anything about the characters'
At the end, I took it as the "youngling" was taking credit for killing the monster, and everyone was buying it and so proud of him, but the Tusken Leader saw the situation and was "You brought the child back alive, you could've let him die.
Loved the reaction, looking forward to seeing more!!
Boba’s got a grizzled Roman general kind of vibe.
I think you are right about the Pig like guards. They disappeared for a minute or so as Boba and Fennec was attacked by (I think) the Mayor's men.
If it wasn't for this reaction I wouldn't of known it started, so I have now watched it and ready for this reaction,
What i wanna know is where the man bear pigs vanished off too when the shield guys attacked and why it took so long for them to reappear.
you can tell his a huge fan because im also a huge fan and i love it!
I've only seen the 1st 5 mins and I'm hooked 👍
You guys are nice, I've been following your videos for 1 year, I really like to see your reactions to the series I also watch, I'm Brazilian, we like Star Wars too
Love the first shot is of the palace
Came out the dirt like I LIVE!!!!!
Those red shields remind me of the shields that blocked darth mail qui gon and obi wan in battle of the fates in episode 1 the phantom menace.
Boba in the tank having ptsd of past trauma
Dragging him through the desert like Joseph in the Bible.
Just finished it like 30 seconds ago. Then i got this notification. Ah shit, here we go again.
Nice!!!
I would suggest you guys check out a film called Once we were warriors (1994) if you want to see Morrison in BEAST mode.
The colors and trim on those speeder bikes reminds me of the cars in "American Graffiti" (1973) which was directed, of course, by George Lucas. My guess is that is supposed to be an homage to Lucas.
15:52 Nikki you got a good laugh out of me with that one 😂
The desert monster was definitely modeled after the Kraken from the original "Clash of the Titans".
Robert Rodriguez directed this Episode so the Band in the Bar got a little el Mariaci Vibe
The reason why he is considered cool is not because he is just some bounty hunter, he is Jenga Fett's son, i.e. related to all of the clone troopers, etc. He's a key character
His popularity was huge way before Jango was a thing, way before the prequels or other content involving clone troopers.
I think the Tuskans will teach him to fight, cuz he didnt have the same moves againt the raiders as he did in the Mandolorian.
This is gonna be great.👍❤🤘
That worm juice is better than Gatorade!
iread some book about boba fett and how he ended up befriending han solo. boba fett had a daughter or something and was looking for her and the cure to stopping his aging as a clone or hault it. was super interesting i wish i remembered more. thank you for the content :))))
i think whats happening to boba is some kind of illness in clones. maybe to ensure they dont live too long? idk but thanks again for the content!!! i bet he's going to go back to kamino looking for the cure and maybe even seeing han solo :P
That X-wing shirt is SO DOPE
Thank you!! Nikki got it for me for Christmas and I love it.
@@NikkiStevenReact great Christmas present! I got a Funkopop of Luke and Yoda on Dagobah, and one of the Mandalorian for Christmas 😁
That’s a dope funko
That dog like creature is the same one from the Mandalorian
Nice to see the Gamorreans in action. I was wondering how they would be portrayed given their fearsome reputations.
Nice first start.
Anyone else think that monster at the end resembled the Kraken from the original CLASH OF THE TITANS?
I feel like Boba Fett's theme song sounds like a heavily modified version of the Mandolorian's theme.
i wonder if we will get some significant twists in this series like in the mandalorian. i think there might be another cameo that will get people talking
The fact that Ming-Na Wen is 58 amazes me 😂, when I'm that age I think I'd basically be a cripple
THIS is season 3 of the Mandalorian, Steve.
