I've said this elsewhere and I'll say it here. The thing I love most about this, is it feels like something that's moving the setting forward rather than trying to re-hash things from the previous star wars media. I mean, in the first episode alone you have two new planets, at least two new forms of wildlife, some cultural reveals about the Mandalorians (notice during his visit to the Mandalorian enclave, there were little mandalorian children running around in the background with helmets), and a storyline that isn't set before the movies.

But technically, he brings them in "cold" anyway, since he carbon-freezes them for transport, which appears to be his standard Motus Operandi since we see multiple carbon frozen bounties in the hold. (Which makes perfect sense. Put them in Carbon Freeze, they don't need food, air, nor will they talk your ear off or otherwise cause annoyance [such as escape attempts] )

Interesting thing. The Mandalorian takes place in 9ABY and "baby Yoda" is 50 years old. That put his/her birth date on 41BBY the same year Anakin Skywalker was born.

The mystery around Yoda's species is one of the last great mysteries of Star Wars, and I'm glad they are finally tackling it.
Chase D yeah, but a mystery is only really satisfying if it is eventually revealed, or at least expanded on. Its fun to theorise, but what’s the point of theories if you never get the answer?
Obviously this is just my personal opinion.
i'm not sure how i feel about it honestly... Yoda's mystery is something I always loved about him. I don't mind a little backstory but I hope they don't take a deep dive into it.
Nikki & Steven React well technically it’s not Yoda is it, just his species so Yoda can still remain a mystery but at least we can learn what his species is actually called

It's all over the place. I'm pretty sure it's also in The Clone Wars and Rebels. I think it's just a droid-based security system that is mass produced.

This show takes place 5 years after Return of the Jedi, and 2 years after the Empire formally surrendered. There are still a few Empire holdouts controlling a few places, but the New Republic is in charge now. Most of the Empire fled into unknown space... and anymore information would probably be spoiler territory...
I’m an old school Star Wars fan. Still remember seeing the original trilogy in theaters with my dad... I LOVED this pilot episode. I’m SO freakin excited about the Mandalorian. It’s everything I’ve been wanting from Star Wars... can’t wait for more!!!!!

I was honestly surprised by how much stuff they've got in Disney+. I only signed up because of the Hulu, ESPN+, Disney+ bundle. I wasn't expecting Disney to put all that much effort, but damn there's so much stuff there. From the really old stuff to the newer stuff.
It's great, I can watch the episode twice myself and then I follow a few reaction channels where I can watch it again 🙌

Can’t get over Nikki’s reactions to Baby Yoda
Life Day is kinda Star Wars version of Christmas. It was first introduced in the Star Wars holiday special which was non-canon. I'm guessing it's canon now...
4 years later... rewatching the whole Mando series again... And I dig your reaction vid. The Gift that keeps Giving!
After subsequent watches I noticed the music. REALLY well done, and at times it's very reminiscent of spaghetti westerns and some of the wipes/transitions were classic Star Wars
I want the second chapter, 38 minutes have passed me very fast.
Two things that many people don't know:
the droid ig 11 (I think it was 11 I do not remember) another bounty hunter as he had several bodies and could transfer the memory from one body to another so I think we will see him again.
and second thing, one of the rules of the bounty hunter guild, you can't kill a guild mate to stay a reward, so I think that when the droid ig recovers his memory in another body he will tell the guild and at least in addition to the empire (so it looks in the trailer) the guild will go for him ... greetings peace
Steven said the right thing. The atmosphere of this show gave me exactly everything i missed so much in the past movies.
This definitely felt like great old school Star Wars. And baby Yoda is definitely going to be a best selling toy.

I don't remember that from The Empire Strikes Back because it was in Return of the Jedi.
Spectacular is the word that suits this Pilot of the series! Baby Yoda got me almost into tears. Amazing is that I share this joy as a Star Wars fan with my favourite couple ever :)
I read that it's set 5 years after the return of the Jedi and the empire is still around but in hiding and rebuilding to form the 1st order

Fun fact too, Beskar the Mandalorian Metal comes from Beskar Ore on Mandalore and Concordia. Traditionally Mandalorian worlds. It’s the only metal in the Star Wars Universe that can withstand lightsaber blows. Because of this, Mandalorians fiercely guarded their Beskar and Forging techniques of the Metal. It became big piece of their culture.

AJ Plenty of people disagree and enjoyed then like myself. And CW and Rebels were amazing, the comics and books are good for the most part, etc. Only Lukes parts in RTJ were good everything else was eh and borderline dumb. The OT just gets special treatment cuz of nostalgia. Empire is the only one that stands the test of time.

Baby Yoda was actually born the same year as Anakin.
One prediction I have for this show is that the Mandalorian is Force-sensitive. The main reason I believe this is the darksabre. The way they end the Mandalorian arc in Rebels, and the fact that we're now getting a live-action show about a Mandalorian, leads me to believe that this is the Mandalorian who is going to follow in the footsteps of Tarre Vizsla and unify the Mandalorians. The reveal of baby Yoda strengthens my belief. Clearly the Force is going to play a major role in this show.
