All-Original Barn Find 1969 Corvette Stingray
We discover an all original untouched barn find 1969 Corvette that has been parked since 1990.
The 1969 Corvette features the new "shark body" design which first appeared in 1968. Many feel the '69 is the most desirable and most appealing visually of the C3 designs which carried from 1968 through 1982. Particularly appealing is that the 1969 Corvette could still be had with the potent L-88 427 as well as optional aluminum heads on the L-71 and tri-power carburetion which went away after '69 as did the N-14 side mounted exhaust. List of optional engines above the 350/300hp with production numbers and upcharge, include:
L36 427ci, 390hp Engine 10,531 $221
L46 350ci, 350hp Engine 12,846 $131
L68 427ci, 400hp Engine 2,072 $326

ZL1 Special L88 (aluminum block) 2 $4,718
L89 Aluminum Cylinder Heads with L71 Engine 390 $832

    The 64-67 years of Healeys lost their super-macho sound, when the exhaust was modified to give a more "refined" note. Too bad, IMO!

    With those last gen Healeys, some fool decided to change the design of the exhaust system, which partially diminished that mellow, strong sound of previous Big Healeys. I think the best year for Big Healeys is 1963...the engine was upgraded slightly, you got actual roll-up windows, yet they retained that older, metallic-type of dash setup. IMO, that fake veneer in 1964-67, made the interior look too trendy. And those new gauges were not as classic as the gold-tinged earlier ones were. The 63 model still had that throaty, straight-thru exhaust system, that was a trademark of the lusty Healy sound!

      We could not agree more with you. The '67 BJ8 is not our favorite. also worth noting is the ride height was increased too taking away some of the stance appeal.

    It's worth only 5.000 thousand dollars and yes it needs a lot of work but once done it would be worth it finding one with matching numbers is getting very hard to find anymore

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks, Albert. We feel the matching numbers outweigh the broken fiberglass. That can be fixed and missing VIN match parts are not easily to replace. We ran the block numbers and is the original born with engine with matching VIN. Most likely has never been apart or out of the car by the looks of it.

      @@classicperformance that is even better because you and I know one anything is removed from the car it's not a original anymore I have a C3 Corvette and I had this car sent's I was 16 years old and I keep it all original and yes it's still all matching numbers all the way to the frame and rear end of it when it brakes down I try my best to fix the broken parts to keep it numbers matching

      Super, you are my kind of guy.. I love everything original just like it came from the factory!!! This car has that potential unlike a chopped up '69 w a 70's 350, Cragar SS wheels, headers and all. The wheel codes at valve stems all check correctly too.

  • @danhamill2052
    @danhamill2052 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Wow you can tell just by a quick glance what horsepower vthe engine is! Amazing must take a lot of time and knowledge to do that. How can you tell?? Most people can’t tell what size it is much less the horse pier level. Most small block Chevies look the same to most people

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Dan, There were an assortment of engines available for '69 in the Corvette, they are listed in the description along with all the other available options. Only two small blocks available and both had Quadrajet carbs and cast iron painted intakes and open element breathers. The visually notable difference which I alluded to was the base motor (300hp vs 350hp) had stamped steel valve covers and the 350hp had cast aluminum "LT-1" style valve covers which were the same used on the '69 Z-28. Judging by the original appearance and fasteners, I guessed and determined it must be the 300hp base motor. The data plate on the center console confirmed that thinking. Some of the big block motors then had Rochester Quadrajet or Holley carburation, cast iron or Winters Foundry aluminum intakes, depending on horsepower. So, fairly easy to tell the difference between the engine options. Appreciate your interest.

    '69 Corvette convertible 4 speed car. Fairly there, risk evident. Non LT1 Corvette coupe, painted twice, original red on black, automatic. Texas baked. Sold for $3.5 k twenty years ago. These low ball comments here have me LMAO. wtf These guys Rip Van Winkle ?? I'd love to buy 10 of these at $1k, $2k or $3k. Chances of freeing up a 4 speed small block Corvette of the 10 possible yard sale buys ?? I would take ALL DAY. Running, driving, "survivor 'Vette convertible 4 speed" would then be my ad title. 😂😂😂

    • @jamiecampbell3068

      @@classicperformanceI can do fiberglass work. I'd be very happy at your offer plus or minus. Had a '71 coupe 390 4 spd car go under a rear trailer. A tape measure, jack stands under the nose of a level jacked stand'ed Corvette goes a long way. Aluminum flat strips & a screw gun pieced it together good enough for fiberglass repair. Ecklers & the aftermarket sells replacement front ends and nose pieces. I would see what OG pieces come with the car. If none .. then a nose and a saw would get me right. A good fiberglass guy is a necessity, but I will say that a confident man with time & tools is a capable equal. --> "plastic fantastic" is a very true phrase for these cars. Many a sin has been easily fixed by many a Corvette owner.

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ouch! --yea, I have pieced several back together over the years provided you have all the pieces. I did not see any of the broken fiberglass laying around. A front headlight surround might do it for about $900, front bumper $700, bumper brace $200... A closer look would have to be made to see what else is damage. I imagine some of the pot metal of the light assemblies has cracked, $900 for a pair used, bumper brackets and supports, bumper extensions, grills, grill surround, etc. Regardless you are getting into some money in just repair.

    A wiseman once wrote...always best to buy a restored classic car than to perform the restoration yourself, not only cost, but sweat equity. This car needs 'everything'. My father worked as a automotive engineer for Chevy back in this era and we drove almost every variant of high performance Chevy including a lot of Corvettes and I followed in his footsteps. Biggest asset of this era was these cars are as simple to work on as a lawn tractor. PS. Worth? I wouldn't touch it. If I wanted a C3, I would choose one in much nicer shape with different options.

    5/20/2024 - You cannot believe that a 1956 car, especially one as enjoyable to drive as this Packard, has no more than 4,600 miles since new. My guess is that the odometer was replaced, perhaps in 1978, before the oil was changed. The condition of the valve covers is evidence of more than 100,000 miles.

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We kindly and respectfully disagree and have all the documentation since new including mileage registrations. The paint on the valve covers was more for selling them in the showroom and is very paper thin. It was never designed to withstand the test of time and extreme temperature fluctuations in an engine compartment. Additionally, the valve covers did not get a primer coat first as the exterior, just paint over stamped steel and hand painted "Packard" script. They are almost 70 yeas old. We appreciate your interest and interacting with the channel comment forum.

    Take the camara off the tripod. When do video for RC, you can't use a tripod.

      @classicperformance it looks like you have really good camara, and you were trying. I've tried filming with a tripod, but with RC planes, it just can't be done. I usually use my tripod on rc car events if the track is small enough or, of course, if it's in one spot. Hey, we all live and learn. Good luck on the next one.

      @classicperformance yea, some people can be Ass Hats. I could tell you guys are a little new to it. Like I said, it seems like you have a really good camera. I could tell cause the planes were not getting out of focus at a distance, and the resolution is really good. I've done alot of videoagraphy and when it comes to rc planes, zoom is not you're friend unless it's like remaining static i.e hovering or a slow high alpha things like that. If you have a pretty good size viewscreen and it does well in the sunlight, you want it like 4 to 5 inches from you're face so you can keep it in the middle of the screen and you can see around it also and possibly just in case the pilot does an abrupt turn or goes vertical it's easier to keep up. Other than great 👍 first effort and I subscribed to you're channel. Don't worry about the comments. It's a process and you're learning. Stay safe and look forward to more.😄
